Rosemount is an absolute treasure! We enjoyed a nearly two hour tour with Helen who made us love the home as much as she does through her attention to detail and historical knowledge of the home and Pueblo. Thank you! We have visited other Victorian mansions but none that equal this one. The original furnishings are stunning and such a rare find. And the mummy at the end was a wonderful surprise- especially for my daughter. A must-see in the area!
We really enjoyed the tour. The guide led us through each room and it didn’t feel too rushed. The house is beautiful and original. My favorite part was the Egyptian mummy which was unexpected but exciting to see. We spent about an hour here and would definitely come back.
This house is so amazing its beautiful and so well kept our tour guide did a great job of telling the mansions history n answers all the questions we had she was awesome its a nice place to visit I recommend it to ppl of all ages u will truly enjoy the beauty this family home
Pueblo has been hiding this gem from me! Shame I cant take pictures of the inside to prove it. If you are like me you have toured quite a few Victorian homes but how many were almost entirely original? This one was almost entirely preserved replete even with an actual mummy on the 3rd floor. The art, architecture, decoration and historic value of this place makes it indespensible.
I enjoy history, and this is an amazing house. We had a great tour person who answered all our questions.
This place is amazing. Our tour guide obviously loves the place and was thorough and entertaining.
Nice piece of history, was nice to really see how an 1800s Victorian house was ran, really feel like you know the Thatcher Family who lived there.
Amazing place and the tour guide was very thorough and knowledgeable!
Beautiful home! Tour was ok. Wish they(tour guides) were more knowledgeable about the house. They give a good history of the family however. Definitely a Pueblo historical showplace. They dont allow photo taking inside of house. There is a small gift shop. The old carriage house is a restaurant on the grounds.
Place was very special. I hope our docent feels better soon. She appeared ill Thanks for being open
The Rosemount is one of the best things Pueblo has to offer. I am a Pueblo native and visit a few times each year and never tire of it. Each visit is a fascinating step back in time to when Pueblo was one of the wealthiest cities in the west. The architecture, craftsmanship, function and beauty of these types of structures are never to be built again. Wherever your eyes look in the home, you will see something fascinating and marvelous. The history of the Rosemount, the Thatchers and their influence is very interesting. The home is well preserved and the docents are friendly and knowledgeable. They host some fun events throughout the year. We attended the Night Terrors event last weekend which was excellent. I have visited other historic homes throughout the country and it is up there as one of the best.
I never get tired of touring Rosemount Museum especially at Christmas time. When I was a kid it was all about seeing the Mummy on the third floor, but as Ive gotten older the best part is the Christmas decor. The volunteers work very hard on it and it shows-the place just sparkles with Christmas spirit. On top of that, the ladies who volunteer there are all extraordinary. Each one has a different room and it is a joy to listen to their knowledge of the house and the family who lived there. They clearly enjoy what they are doing and it makes the whole experience pretty special. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers-you are what make a visit to the Rosemount Museum so special.
A hidden gem worth the time to see. The woodwork, the Tiffany Chandeliers, the giant stained/painted glass window... All complete with stories to accompany them told by wonderful guides. Dont miss experiencing this! Youll regret it!
Very interesting place, beautiful place, lots of history behind it.
So heres the deal.... If youre the kind of person that enjoys history and absolutely beautiful architecture and decor...this place is for you!!In addition I am under the understanding that at Christmas time the entire Mansion is decorated and from what I hear it is breathtaking.I have not personally seen the Christmas decor yet... But I have full intentions Ive going back to do so right after Thanksgiving. I absolutely love Christmas so Im very excited. For a very small price which unfortunately I cannot remember at the moment, ugh! But it was very reasonable and we were there for about an hour and a half, with your donation, you get a guided tour. Our guide was friendly and interactive and well versed in the history of the home.
This place is beautiful. I used to go visit it as a child and now its right across the street from my house.
Rosemount is a beautiful place to visit. I love Rosemount. Pueblo is so fortunate to have such a gem to learn about history. The Thatcher family left their home furnished with their furniture, housewares and personal items that allows us to see how families lived during the late 1890s and early 1900s. I encourage you to visit.
Beautiful museum with a friendly staff. Very accommodating. Our tour guide was pleasant, knowledgeable, and did not rush us through. We highly recommend visiting. Worth the trip and at a great price!
Very interesting, lots of cool items, great tour. Will definitely visit it again.
The home is amazing and a true gem. My only issue was a volunteer she was so rude and unprofessional. I am glad she volunteer because if they paid her she would robbing them of there money. She was wearing a black christmas sweater and had a short black haircut. She was arguing with me and rolled her eyes at my child who is special when he had to leave the room due to loud music.
Stunning home, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Knowledgeable docents. Christmas gift shop 40% off.
Had a awesome time. The tour was great very informative. A very beautiful place.
GREAT tour on a very hot day. Staff(Debbie) was well informed and patient with my grandkids! A little bit disappointed we didnt get to see the mummy, but understood it was way too hot to be upstairs. We will go back!
Thatcher museum is an awesome mansion to take a tour of If you get the chance. Some of the most elegant and beautiful architecture of its era is forever etched into this museum.
Beautiful home and artifacts. Wood work gorgeous.
Love the museum takes me back to the olden days!
I loved the tour! Easy to get around. Our tour guide was very informative and friendly.
Out of all the historic buildings in Pueblo, this is by far the best. The tour guides are knowledgeable and attentive to any questions. A great way to visit Pueblo history! I will continually come back.
Loved the car show that was there today. Took my mom and stepdad with me, I was surprised he wanted to go. We had fun.
Wonderful place, fantastic escorts and visions of times past.
Absolutely wonderfull Docents-friendly and made themselves available, also very knowledgeable. Lots of hidden surprises and deep history. My children and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Rosemount.
Absolutely amazing! Fabulous property. Great staff!
Visiting Pueblo, Yes. Going to the Rosemont, Yes. Seriously a cultural experience second to none.
Were interested in old houses and architecture, and in learning about how people lived there when the house was built new. The tour of Rosemount didnt disappoint us. The docents were friendly and knowledgeable, so we learned a lot about life of the family that built and lived in the house. I recommend the museum if you have interest in houses or history.
Interesting and sad the distinction between the wealthy and their staff. The house is beautiful and everything in it shows such amazing craftsmanship.
My, California, family loved it. A great piece of Pueblo history. Gorgeous.
The history, and up keep of this site is beautiful! Very knowledgeable staff.
Really interesting, good tour guide, lots of original pieces, cool architecture, early CO history.
Beautiful and original Victorian era mansion very well preserved and mostly originalA rare find to actually see true and original relics of a time gone by
We loved the tour and Christmas decorations. Shirley was an amazing docent. She made us feel welcome and was happy to share her knowledge of the home and family. Thank you!
This is a gem in the city of Pueblo. Such a wonderful place to visit.
This is a magnificent piece of southern Colorado history. Each of the 37 rooms are exquisite and 85% of the furnishings are original. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic docents provide personalized tours.
Beautiful place, staff was friendly. Cant take pictures inside. Got a great price off Groupon
This place is gorgeous! I love the family activities they have. Amazing place and people!!!
Wonderful historic ho.e in the heart of pueblo. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and it has a wonderful little gift shop. Thanks for a great visit.
Must see Victorian mansion in Pueblo Colorado. You are not just seeing an older Grand turn of the century mansion, but a museum of the original household furnishings a for this he as well. Very well done. Really enjoyed the tour and information from the guides.
Wonderful House and museum sadly you cannot take interior pictures
This is a beautiful, historic mansion with exquisite woodwork, amazing art, and beautiful grounds. The docents are knowledgeable and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Tours take about an hour and are well-worth the time and the $7 admittance fee.
The docent was very knowledge of every aspect of the Thatchers lives, their help staff, the architecture, the building process, early innovative ideas, business ventures, Morales and more. There is a one person elevator for a person challenged by stairs. The staff are friendly and very helpful.
Beautiful museum, very informative tour guides, very well preserved, awesome story behind the family. Well worth the fee and time to go thru the tour. Must see!!
The volunteers know so much history, and are very fun to talk to. I cant believe Im from Pueblo and after 30 years, I finally made it to the museum. Absolutely stunning, rich history, A MUMMY for Egypt! And if youre from southern Colorado, Pueblo especially, the history of the family is fascinating and relatable one. Sense considering they were a huge contribution in making Pueblo the city it has become. I will definitely be back around Christmas to see the one of a kind decor.
GREAT tour on a very hot day.
Beautiful home from the Victorian life of Pueblo Colorado from its time. A lot of history and the way life ran 100 years ago. We enjoyed our tour guide and learned more about the history of the home and the family who last lived in it. Very nice of the family and friends who donate the home because of the history that had held up over the years. Thank you.
Love this place.check it out if u are up that way.
A wonderful museum! The tour guide was exceptional, very knowledgeable. Its rare that you see a Victorian home so well preserved. Well worth the time!
It was amazing, such a surprise, so much interesting history!! I wish I could have taken pictures but I understand why they dont let you. I dont know If I should tell what is on the 3rd floor, it might spoil the surprise but its dated 1400 bc.!!
Pretty cool tour got tickets from groupon. The mummy was cool. No pictures allowed though.
Well worth a visit.
Perfectly kept Victorian home.
So interesting and cool!
Fascinating old home with original furnishings. It was a bummer not to take pictures. The guided tour was great.
An incredible place to visit! Our docent Carol was knowledgeable and passionate about the property and gave us a great tour. Cant wait to go back!
Me and my mom loved visiting old houses and this was it realy cool experience. We saw things that weve never seen before in other old houses. Our tour felt a little rushed because of the tour guide we had. I was very fascinated by the house and would recommend this.
Victorian Halloween so much fun! Should have brought the kids here years ago! Well done!
We love going to this place we went for an Easter hunt
Second visit. Decorated for Christmas and just as beautiful. Wonderful how the place is almost intact from when family lived there and well maintained (month of January is big cleaning month). Look forward to returning.
I planned to stop at Rosemount during a day of travel between Santa Fe and Colorado Springs as a nice surprise for my wife. The house is beyond anyones expectation and reveals family life in a mansion in the Victorian era. Our tour docent was superb and made the building come alive with stories about the family, times and artifacts. This museum has bucket list potential for everyone planning to be anywhere close to Pueblo, CO,
A wonderfully preserved Pueblo mansion. The volunteer staff was very knowledgeable.
The Rosemont museum is very beautiful n full of cool history I recommend visiting
Absolutely splendid museum. I loved the fact that the furniture is over eighty percent original and that the furniture in each room matches the fireplace and accents for the room it is in. Wonderful tour staff made it a very enjoyable experience.
Interesting 1hour tour of a early 20th century mansion
I wish the Christmas Decorations were older looking not brand new. BUT the tour was great....
Had a good time @ Night Terrors!
Rosemount Museum is a historic piece of Pueblo history. Very informative tour and beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Beautiful detail. A lot of original work. Great guide and well worth the visit. Thanks Groupon.
Beautiful home. The entire staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Love this home! The people of Pueblo have worked very hard in keeping this home intact. The 90% of the furnishings are original. Take a step back in time - and seriously - I want that stove. Lovely
We enjoyed our visit and our tour. This place is amazing.
Recommend you visit
Plain ole creepy but not in a fun way. Obvious consumption and gluttony preserved for all of Pueblo to never touch. They were merchants so they made their money off the poor. There’s a mummy in the bird floor. Weird.
Such a awesome piece if American history!
Im sorry to say it, but I did not enjoy our visit. My husband is basically deaf and could not hear the tour guide. We were kept under a tight leash; any questions, conversations, jokes, observations etc., were discouraged. You could not even linger to read the material posted by an exhibit. Why do they even have it there? Who gets to take the time to read it? The tour guide was rude to me and my sweet husband. I am upset with the way he was treated. Its not okay.
Gorgeous piece of History
It was awesome going to the Halloween setup and trick-or-treating they had. The staff are very knowledgeable anout the Thatcher family and it was great fun for kids and adults alike!
My favorite place in Pueblo!
So beautifully decorated for Christmas! Very interesting family who was hardworking and good to their employees. Enjoyed the stories and the tour.
Beautiful grounds for the car show! Hope you have us back next year!
The museum was beautiful. Its a must see.
Great tour Well worth your time. Well maintained and beautifullly decorated for Christmas. Even most furnishings are original. Knowledgeable tour person in historic dress. And a 3000 year old mummy!
Wow! We showed up a half hour before closing for an over an hour long tour! The tour guide was so kind, and friendly! Evelyn, answered all of our questions, laughed at our jokes and kept the tour exciting! Very interesting tour and what an amazing piece of history!what a beautiful home!
Car show was good too
Love the old home. Had great Docent.
I would like to start this off by saying that I have worked in several museums in guest relations, customer service, and docent positions. I love museums, and have visited them all over the world. I have never seen or heard of the kind of treatment we received when we attempted to visit this museum. I had heard about Rosemount from another docent at a museum I used to work at and had been wanting to visit. Since it was a two hour drive from where I live I waited over a year before finally planning the trip down on my birthday. I checked the website to make sure they would be open, and brought the flyer my friend had given me. All said the last tour left at 3:30pm, pretty standard. Since it was such a long drive down, I thought to call ahead to ensure that they were indeed open. The person who answered explained that they had a car show outside, which meant half price tours without guides, but that docents would be in each room to answer questions. It sounded great! So we made our way down and arrived a little before 2:30pm with plenty of time to see the museum. To our utter shock it was closed, but we could see people inside. We immediately called and were told that they closed early due to the special event (something that we were not informed of when we called ahead!). We explained that we had called ahead and made a long drive just to see the museum. The person on the other end just kept saying “There is nothing I can do. I don’t know who you talked to.” So we asked to talk to a supervisor, which she refused. We then asked what her position was, and she hung up on us. People visit from out of town, and come from far away to visit these historic places. If we do everything in our power to get the correct information and the staff make a mistake, the least they could do is apologize. I would caution strongly against visiting this museum, as there is no way to ensure that whatever information you get regarding their operations is correct, and the staff, or at least the person we talked to, are extremely rude!EDIT: I had to update this review. This experience happened years ago and it was very upsetting. Honestly I would like to let it go and forget. I have also left reviews on Facebook and people who seem like they may be affiliated with the museum have started personally attacking me and harassing me over the internet which is extremely inappropriate. I would be very wary of this place and interacting with anyone affiliated with it!
Have been twice, always see something I missed..
