Climbed this trail on foot and horseback several times over the years. Beautiful view.
Multiple false peaks going up to Provo Peak. It is for advanced hikers. It is a difficult trail. Beautiful. Stunning.
Oh, my gorgeous!
I hiked this from the Y trailhead. Doing it this way is a real doozy. You’ll end up clocking in more than 12 miles and 6,000 ft of elevation round trip. It’s gorgeous!
Amazing mountains close to campus! beautiful views, great trails - visit a lot
Great view. Awesome hike.
Really steep and tough hike but the view at the top was totally worth it. Dont recommend to beginner hikers.
An awesome local hiking trail. It’s quite steep in some places, so be careful.
You can do this peak year round, just be aware that it usually gets snowy in fall and stays that way until mid summer.
A very under hiked trail and one of my favorites!
I recommend a 4x4 or AWD vehicle with good clearance to get to the trailhead. Be sure to take a right where the trail splits off (uphill) from the ATV path. A good day hike in the summer.
Gorgeous view! Well worth the effort to get up here
Amazing views from a fine summit. The hike itself, however, is not the most fun. Its quite a workout, the steepest Ive done, even steeper than West Mountain. I would still recommend it, but from the road, because even though the road is quite bad beyond Rock Canyon Campground I expect coming from the valley floor would be absolutely terrible. My 10th 2KP, and my 5th 3KP, making it very worthwhile. And as I said, the views are incredible. Would recommend.
For step masters! This is a 3 mile round trip hike with an approximate 2,800 ft vertical rise. Just to get to the trailhead you will want a car that has high clearance and 4 wheel drive. The road is very rough. If you are half mountain goat you can hike from the Y Mountain trailhead which is just a 6,000 ft vertical!)The trail from the trailhead is very clear, but it soon jumps on one of the terrice cuts common in the area. If you are not vigilant you will miss the turn off and end up bushwhacking or wondering where the trail went. Supposing you find the turn off it is a straight shot up to the summit. Up and up and up. There are 4 flat spots on this trail: 1) the parking lot. 2) a section on the ridge large enough for 1 tent. 3) a second spot on the ridge large enough for 2 tents. 4) the summit. The perks for hiking Provo peak are the views, since it is a ridge hike you have good views all the way up and they only getter better the higher you go; and Provo peak is one of the seven peaks of utah county. Enjoy!
Steep climb but well worth it!!
Beautiful location!
