Who knows there is such a beautiful park and rose garden hidden in this pretty quiet neighborhood. The park has two parts, a fantastic rose garden in the south with roses of different colors, a fountain and a pavilion. The north part is an open green space with baseball baseball fields. Well worth a detour if you are in North Portland.
Beautiful park in NE Portland that I frequent, take your kids and your dogs. Good size, about a 1/4 mile loop around the path/park.Famous Rose garden that is meticulously maintained!
One of the top 3 parks in the city - best one for roses in my opinion. Dogs must be kept leashed. Grassy areas to picnic. Historic community center with swimming pool, quaint gazebo, covered area for parties, fountain and sunken rose garden. Partially paved loop, smaller dirt gravel loop as well. Tennis courts (2?), bars, horse shoes things (byo horse shoe) and basketball court. 2 Baseball diamonds. Jungle gyms and a kids spray water play area. Safe
I love the deep green trees. The parks here feel like their own little forests.
Beautiful park, one of my favorite in Portland. Very diversified and not so preppy like the rest
This is a beautiful, relaxing park. There are tons of roses to smell and photograph. Also, theres a fountain in the middle of the rose garden. I dont know if youre supposed to play in the fountain, but Ive seen kids doing it plenty of times, and Ive let mine as well. The rose garden is just one section of a much larger park with playground, fields, drinking fountains, bathrooms, community center and swimming pool.
This is my favorite park in all of Portland. The sunken garden is not as large as the Washington Park rose garden, but it is older (I believe) and with the loving care of volunteers and professionals it has aged beautifully. It is connected to the rest of Peninsula Park, which has a cedar grove playground, picnic area, baseball diamond, and the community center and pool complex. Its one of the most diverse and consistently used parks in my experience.
Portlands original rose test garden is accessible to all and distinctively inviting for all ages. Elegant yet unpretentious. A Portland treasure.
5 stars for beauty, 4 stars for the homeless guys fighting while we were eating at the picnic tables. Next time Im bringing a blanket and eating in the rose pathway. Good place for our dog to play on the other side of the roses.
In city. Beautiful like so much of Oregon. You either fall in love with the Pacific Northwest or you dont. I did.
Today, I was pleasantly surprised to find a jazz band doing a safe/outdoor band practice in the park, and it was just about the most heartwarming and welcome surprise ever. The rest of the park was lovely, as usual.
Beautiful, large Park with tennis, large play area for kids, baseball, horseshoes, picnic areas, baseball field, swimming pool, rose garden, and plenty of trees. No fenced dog area. Easy parking.
So many people go to the Rose Test Garden downtown near forest park, but this is a hidden gem thats just as good and not as crowded. So many beautiful roses.
A serene spot filled with beautiful flowers. Absolutely great place to take a short stroll and appreciate the beauty in manicured nature.
I love this Park ️ I was merried there 35yrs ago.revisited it July 12 it was still very beautiful you could smell the Roses as soon as you step out of the car.. the Roses are in bloom and the beautiful colors of them all bright and bold.. familys were there with picnic lunches, people were riding there bikes and walking there dogs.getting merried,it was just so breath taking. If you get a chance to go see this amazing wonderful beautiful rose garden you wont be sorry.. remember no picking the flowers, even if you cant help it no no no.enjoy the world why you can before it is gone for good..all good things come to a end..so enjoy it while we can..just a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy.. swimming pool, toy play grounds for the children and bathroom available for everyone..on street parking..I will go back again very soon.just such a beautiful park..️
From May to October is not only the most beautiful park in Portland but also the one that smells the best.Includes tennis and basketball courts, a big gazebo where people can play music or just wait for the rain and a big lawn for all purposes. The pool was renewed last year and includes a big community center.
Great east-side rose garden. Its smaller than the one near the zoo, but its well laid out with easy walking paths, and a fountain in the center. People walk their dogs around it, so look where you step!
A beautiful historic Olmsted masterpiece and a picture perfect place to visit.
Really pretty and clean park. Roses are beautiful and smell really nice. Most of the grass is good so its nice to sit anywhere.
My favorite park in town, hands down. Beautiful roses and when the season is just right the fountain lights up in the setting sun and glows orange. Amazing.
100+ year old rose park hidden away in north portland. Mostly used by locals. Great place to exercise, play with your kids, dance during concerts and gather.
Sweet old rose garden, lovely pathways and a gem on the Eastside. Not as comprehensive as the Portland Order Garden but still is a lovely spot, and not too crowded, there is also a nice park with open spaces for play.
The roses are beautiful! Even with all the heat and COVID the park is a great place to go. People were wearing masks and social distancing and there was plenty of shade from the heat. The only downside out of the thing is that a good portion of the grass is dead. It being summer and a hot one are the reason for that so I dont think it makes sense to doc a star for the weather. All in all we enjoyed our visit! There are a lot of pokestops for you to spin as well as three gyms is enjoy Pokemon Go.
What a great rose park in Portland! Small enough to walk your children through and great for strollers and wheelchairs. There are two playgrounds as well. The park is looking for volunteers!!
Always good maintenance. Only thing is that sometimes homeless people took the bathrooms for long periods of time...But overall is always clean
Lots of parking nearby but watch out for limited time spots as I saw them ticketing. Lots of space in the park to walk or play. Middle of a neighborhood and pretty safe place.
The original Portland rose garden. The colors and smells are amazing when the roses are in bloom. Its also connected to a large park area with open space, playgrounds, and a splash pad.
Life is here! Beautiful gardens! People are picnicing, reading among the trees, wslking their dogs, riding their bicycle, doing yoga and much more!
Celebration at the park dont have to be in a funeral home to celebrate life rip mom forever love you!
Find a shady spot under a tree and admire the lush roses spread out in wonderful color and symmetry. This is a beautiful park for a stroll and a picnic, and when the roses are in full bloom, it smells amazing!
Great park with lots of room! The roses are spectacular when they’re in bloom. Pack a lunch and have a picnic on the massive lawn.
Amazing park! So much to see, touch a d play on. Love the flowers and the water features. Great place for families and community to come together. @madmindfulmama
An incredible place for a picnic. Absolutely gorgeous flowers and trees with some nice shaded areas to sit and enjoy.
I love this place! Beautiful gardens, a ball field, tennis courts, hoops and people of all ages remembering how to play... Plenty of space for however you want to unwind.
Right now, the roses are all in full bloom and the garden is beautiful. there are a lot of people sitting out on the lawns enjoying the nice June weather. A lovely place to spend a little time.

Huge historic park. Portlands first rose garden.
Great park... Beautiful garden
Beautiful rose garden. Great place to explore and just relax
I was in Portland for vacation and saw this park was near where I was having lunch. Im so glad I decided to walk over and check it out. Who can say no to a free rose garden? Lovely flowers, clean and neat park. Great for hanging out and relaxing. Worth a visit if youre nearby!
Birthday BBQ in the most beautiful park in Portland. My late husband and I were married here. My two grown kids and I come here to remember and celebrate.
Beautiful rose garden during the spring and just a really functional park during the rest of the year
This park is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to in such a compact size. And its still a decent sized park. But the best part is the Rose Garden and fountain. Such beauty. You have to see it for yourself!!!
Its one of my favorite parks.when in Portland I walk here with my sister for long talks. Olives on Kerby St in the 1970s and have many fond memories of the pool and the Rose garden.
You can smell the roses from a block away and its magnificent! Its a lovely place to relax and enjoy a slow stroll or picnic
This was a beautiful location for the large gathering I attended.
Gorgeous classic old park, rose garden, tennis and basketball courts. Great pool, too, but closed due to COVID19.
Its a gorgeous and impressive rose garden! Lots of varietals, well kept, and set up in a beautiful park. Wheelchair accessible and family friendly, its a great place to lay out a blanket and relax or picnic!
This place was beautiful! The roses and the fountain make this place peaceful and beautiful to spend the day.
The fountain along with the rose gardens are absolutely gorgeous. It is very peaceful and tranquil to take a walk or sit on a bench and enjoy people watching or taking in nature.
Excellent place! Free balloons and pop tarts every Tuesday!!
Come here to smell the roses and feel great about life! The perfect place to bring your love bug and children to get some exercise and fresh air! Many trails and playgrounds for fun. Many people visit to throw the ball around and have a picnic! Its a gorgeous oasis for Portland with stylish historical brickwork and powerfully elegant water fountain!
Beautiful park. If you want to get some pictures with roses this is the place to be.
Beautiful rose garden, tennis courts and swimming pool.
One cannot get the wonderful scent of this amazing collection of roses for a picture; you must visit Peninsula Park Rose Garden.
The smell of roses hits your nose as soon as you step out of the car. The colors were wonderful, and the walk around the garden was quite relaxing!
It always smells so sweet there. The design and architecture transport my mind to a time when blushing women with long handled parasols on their shoulder stroll past young college boys, averting their gaze so as to not be accused of flirting.
Fun place to play tennis, great community pool and beautiful rose garden. Nice space to relax!
A beautiful park. Nicely manicured, great colors. Relaxing!!
Beautiful park/ Rose garden. Nice walking trails with ada Restrooms.
This park has great memories for me watching my son grow in there summer camp programs, mostly sports
Amazing park amazing roses
Beautiful park. Quick visit on our way out of Portland.
Not a lot of flowers in the off season but its still well maintained and very fragrant in some spots
Very beautiful place took our daughter there to hang out an take pics .
One of my favorite places for bubble tea! Always great service and other great places in the area to kick back and get your bubble tea drinking on!
Great time with son & wife and Ms. Sabrina Frome a.f.s.
I lovedddddd this Rose Garden. Oh the aroma of roses was indeed in the air. They were so many different colors and a nice fountain in the middle. They have benches on the outside of this huge circle. We sat for a while and enjoyed the nice breeze and smell. Its right next to a park so a great place to take the family if visiting. They have grads walkways were you can take a closer look at the flowers. I snapped a few photos on my journey. This was recommended to us by a local resident.
Smaller than what it looks like in the photos. Cant even walk through every path because people sit on the ground and block passageways from every turn. Theres a huge field right next to the garden where people with common sense would sit. They should have a sign no sitting in the garden
Very beautiful, well maintained place to check out. Definitely should be supported
Gorgeous.Visit here in May or June! Not before May.
This is the only rose garden Ive been to in Portland but I was blown away by the variety they had of colors in such a small area definitely a beautiful park
Very scenic Park. Great place to unwind and relax. I love the water fountain and the shrubs.
Beautiful rose garden and walking paths.
Beautifully kept and a wonderful community gathering spot.
Beautiful ️ place.been coming here since I was a kid
Would have been nice if the fountain worked, but was nice place
Peaceful park in the middle of town with lots of open spaces. Not much tree coverage
Huge rose garden with ample room to run and play
The rose garden at Peninsula Park is a beautiful oasis in North Portland with a cool fountain. On hot days, the fountain is a popular spot to cool off, and everyone is happy to ignore the no swimming signs. When roses are in bloom in the late spring and summer, the rose garden is an awesome place to hang out and walk through the grassy rows between the flower beds.
A beautiful park for strolling, jogging and even a moment of reflection. You cant miss the fragrant bouquet of the beautiful roses that are attend by local volunteers.
Always loved this park.. Roses roses and more roses. Water fountains water play area several playgrounds base ball diamond swimming pool (for a fee) soccer field.. This park is big and fun. Cant afford the pool? Let em play in the fountain...!

Beautiful rose garden, free! There are some benches around the perimeter to sit on. There is an accessible ramp on the North side of the garden opposite some stairs. Visited in really September and there were so many blooms!
