They are very covid friendly and the staff working all two them crushed it. We had burgers and beverages. The real burger and vegetarian option were really good and the tator were amazing. The bloody Mary beverage of the beverages was not so stellar. I was expecting more as it tasted like marinara sauce with a salted rim and the garnishments were less then typical Portland Bloody Mary good. The beer beverage was devine and we ended up sharing that. Everything else was stellar just a wee bit bummed about the one beverage.

The outdoor seating was lovely for a quiet and covid safe lunch. The tables in the garden are very safely separated and the staff very efficient and friendly. And of course McMenamins tasty menu and good drinks. All made it feel comfortable and almost normal

Excellent service, outdoor seating in a pretty garden setting Good sized parking lot. Good wine/beer/cocktail menu. Wide selection of burgers, including a vegan burger. Fries are yummy but a salad side can be substituted for a dollar. Staff members wear masks. Check them out.

Outdoor seating in the time of covid and not too crowded if you go at the right time. Food is predictable, but thats what we all love about McMenamins, right? Always tasty but always the same. Thats okay!

I am not really a fan of the food very subpar for the cost.the only thing good is the tots. Beyond that the employees are always really nice. The beer on tap is always fresh and cold. Always good deals on growler fills. I do wish they would cary more cans but its not really that big of a deal. I miss coming here for movies thanks alot covid.

This location has so much to offer for such a little location they smoke the meat on site and so good! And there is the theatre great sitting area upstairs to just hang out have a brew and great food the staff was very attentive and friendly i love everything mcmenamins

By far the best service Ive run into in a while! We brought in our daughter because we were going to a movie and the waitress listened to her birthday story and showed pictures of her dog. She was wonderful. Food is all the same and drinks are of the McMenamins nature but I truly loved our family experience.

He said it was the best old fashioned he has had in a very long time!

Super quaint little place to enjoy a movie or time with friends. When we were there the staff was amazing! They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and having a good time. They treated us like friends and not customers and what a difference that makes!

If the weather is nice, always sit in their outdoor seating area. Chill vibes, plenty of shade towards the end of the day. I opted for the veggie burger and my friend for the regular beef burger . I was very surprised on the flavor they pack into it, small for the price . The flights are worth it! So many great beers !

Best movie experience in my life! The theater is super cozy and they keep it warm ( I usually freeze in movies). The bar is really nice. Its kid friendly and the food is good.

Its a pretty neat place with a history. You can even watch movies here. The menu, of course, is the general McMenamins menu but good. Very casual place with dark booths. Make sure to look at the pictures scattered around.

Edit from October 2018: Don’t sit in the very back row, the seats that are in sections of 5. No table for food. The theater provides trays that fit in your cup holder but they get knocked over easily. People constantly walk in front of you to get to the other side of the theater, through the entire movie. It is also right in front of the restaurants ice maker. That means staff come and refill buckets of ice during the movie right behind your chair. Very odd and distracting if you’re watching a quiet movie.As stated before the theater is clean, the women’s restroom however, smells so strongly of urine it’s shocking.The food was all very good.Previous review: I adore this cinema! I would recommend sitting nearer the back as the screen is fairly close and you have to look up if you’re near the front. Food and drinks delivered right to your seat. The theater is clean.

Pretty great spot to take in a movie while eating some tasty food. Matinee tickets are only $5 and they have assigned seats. Good for kids. Some veggie and vegan fare. Hard to beat.

I am a happy return customer. The salmon tacos were superb. They are so awesome! The Black Rabbit Red is delicious. The people that work there are great! I highly recommend.

Cool old church with large outdoor space. Great local brunch spot. Signature drinks/beer/whine ... + odd/unique decor, and cheap movies... make for an Awesome local hangout. Ask them about their passports too... you can get stamps for visiting all of the McMenamins.Update! June 19, 2020. They are sanitizing tables in between customers and providing an extra coaster to cover your beverage.

Comfortable bar with lots of nooks and interesting places to sit. Comfortable outdoor area. The theatre looks incredible and would be a fun place for a date night.

Haven’t seen a movie here yet, but I have enjoyed the patio on several occasions. Service is always fast and friendly. Outdoor seating is wonderful when it’s nice out, they even have a little fire pit for when nights start to get chilly. The food and drinks are on par with other mcmenamins

This St Johns Mcmenamins is a goto location for us. We go upstairs (unless we’re seeing a movie downstairs) and chill, watch sports and play cards. Oh I drink beer (Shirley Temple for the kid) and burgers and fries are ordered. The veggie gyro is really good too Yum yum

McMenamins is different every one you go to. I like to explore eateries with nostalgic items & art. I have not gotten upstairs yet. Staff are friendly: bar, wait, cooks & theatre folks alike. Food is always great.

Every time I go here I always look at the check and say wow, I cant believe that costed this. Add to that the latest drop in quality and service that has gone from stoned casual to something worse, I think I may have eaten the last meal at mcmenamins that resulted from intentionally choosing it as a place to eat.

First time at mcminamins. Its so beautifully landscaped with so many different plants and flowers. Very romantic setting for any occasion in my opinion.

Had a great time at the Mcmenamins in St Johns. Enjoyed a tasty beer or two and watched a movie (Tolkien). Great people, beer, and movies. Cant wait for warm weather, so we can enjoy ourselves in their garden Patio area.

Everything was excellent! The atmosphere was very comfortable, the service was awesome, the beer sampler was impressive, and the food was so good, I was eating after I was full. I will definitely be back to check out the theater area.

After spending several hours shooting a short film, we were exhausted and hungry so we were lucky to find this bar was still open at 11pm on a Sunday night. We were greeted by Pontius, who happened to be the manager and our bartender. We ordered the Cajun tater tots (Super yummy!) and their tuna sliders (OMG, I never knew tuna could taste so good). I also had a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was the best Pinot I’ve had in quite sometime. The bar was coming to a close but Pontius assured us that there was no need to rush. I appreciated that a lot. If you’re looking for a cool bar with cool people, this is the spot!

Great for just about anything youre looking for. Food entertainment recreation and it can all be found here. Happy hour is always a good deal. if youre coming for a movie make sure to show up plenty early as they often sell out. why would I go to an overprice theater when I can come here and spend a few dollars sit on a comfy couch with a good beer and a plate of good food. Definitely worth waiting a little while for the movies to show up.

One of the nicest theater experiences Ive ever had at a McMenamins. Happy hour is amazing food fresh delicious and affordable. Highly recommend happy hour in a movie cant go wrong at this McMenamins. If you love Cesar salad its always a hit they do a great job.

The food was delicious as were the drinks, our server was friendly, and the venue itself had a really cool atmosphere (felt like we were drinking whiskey in a study).

Its a cozy, little cute spot with an eclectic scenery. Theres a lot to look at and the food is pretty good. I like the set up and theres something for everyone. You can sit downstairs at a regular table or booth.. or you can go upstairs and sit on a couch. They even have a little movie theater where you can also dine as well. Will definitely check it out again. The only reason they dont get 5 stars from me is because the service was a little slow and they couldnt make my eggs scrambled on my burger instead of sunny side up. Sorry Im picky and I like what I like but other than that theyre great.

The movie was great and so was the theater, but the service was off. I wanted popcorn to go along with the movie (as many movie goers do) but they ran out with the customer just ahead of me. I assumed they would make another batch - I was wrong. When I asked for popcorn the waiter sarcastically said he would make another batch ...just for me so I got the hint and ordered my beer and some chip and dip instead. If I go back, Ill sneak just pack in my own snacks in next time - lm just saying.

Food was decent. Wait staff were rude slow and just oblivious to patrons. My cook made my food and delivered it to the table. There was maybe 8 customers in the restaurant

Great for dinner and a movie. They serve a vegan burger and cajun tots that are my go to Mcmenamins food. We order at the bar and the food is delivered within the movie theater.

Tons of artefacts make you feel like visiting a collectors house or a fairy tale. Great cocktails. Very affordable movie tickets. Neighborhoody feeling from gathering around fire pit at the outdoor patio under ambient lights.

Decent, especially for a McMenamins, which for me are super hit and miss. Bartender was ok, not very attentive, but we got our order, and it was correct. Food was good, and came out hot. Burger was cooked nicely and the gyro was tasty. Drop in for some good food and good atmosphere.

For the second time, the male bartender with light brown hair was working an hour before close, on September 25th, was rude, sexist and unwilling to serve. You have lost my business.

Typical McMenamins location, though this one has a nice movie theater. Food isnt the greatest, the beer is average, wait was long but the customer service was very friendly. Movies are only $5 for matinees.

We live close by so weve gone regularly though not often because the service has always been pretty bad. Now they seemvm to have a couple of pretty good waitresses who actually deserve a tip.The food is very standard pub food. Tonight my hamburger was totally overcooked.My husband likes going there to watch baseball and they usually accept to change the channel for him. Thats one positive.He forgot his debit card there and called to check if they had it, they did. But when he wet to retrieve it it took them over half an hour to find it! And they looked at him like he was crazy for asking and for making them looking for it.I think they are lucky to be one of the few options in St Johns or nobody would go there.My opinion of course. Dont expect a smile, theyre too cool for that.

Good service saw Spiderman here and i had a good time coming here to when I want to stray away from the more modern Cinemas and do something a little more traditional. You can show up early and hang around the fire or bar while you wait for your movie.

A great comfy place to have lunch and chit chat with friends. The inside decoration is full of things to search for and find. The brews are cold and the menu offers a lot of variation. Staff is friendly and polite and its just a worthwhile place to visit.

We love coming here for family movie dates. The theater is smaller and less intimidating for the kids while still giving us the full theater experience. Not to mention kids meals (a beer for dad) and an awesome staff! The history of the building is really unique too and I suggest reading about it on the website before you go so you can appreciate the history of the building while you are there. And if the movie thing isn’t for you, enjoy a pint in their garden by the fire pits.

Beautiful patio and decent beer (standard McMenamin’s beer). The food however is pretty subpar when compared to other brewpubs in Portland. All of our food was just okay and definitely not worth the price - about 4 or 5 dollars higher than what it should have been compared to other brewpubs in terms of portion and quality.

Loved the place. First time here. Will definitely come back. Great job
