Thank you so much for everything we will be forever grateful! You are amazing! I highly recommend this theater! The beating heart and soul of it, it’s owners are the sweetest people I’ve ever met! Polite and helpful I wouldn’t be able to express my gratitude with words, thanks again!
The second oldest theatre in Portland; simple & beautiful, you can feel the history as you sit. Unlike the chain cinemas, you watch good local adverts drift by on the screen before the feature starts. Donations given for free film Monday supports different local charities with a good list of classic flicks. Staff are really friendly, & prices for snacks are good.
This place is not only great but also the owners were incredible! My boyfriend by sorprise rented the place to propose to me in secret which was amazing! And i have to say they did a great job with everything including the screening and the service! Thank u so much we are forever grateful!
This theater has been something of a second home to me for ten years and I have seen tremendous, beautiful growth in the hands of its current owners. The day I am able to sit my butt in those cozy spring loaded seats with a bag of the best popcorn around again will be a wonderful day
I felt safe eating there because of the outdoor tables. Really nice!!
This is the best place to be. My family has spent so much time here the past 4 years, I would be terribly sad if it shut down. There is so much culture and vibrance within this iconic building. PLEASE DONATE AND HELP KEEP THE THEATER RUNNING. ️
Such an icon of the Clinton neighborhood and of my own personal experiences in Portland in general. So many great folks, great events, wonderful memories.
The Clinton Street Theater is one of my favorite places in Portland, its been a major part of my experience living here over the past 12 years.
This company likes the destruction of Portland! I wouldn’t ever go here you are apart of the problem
Love going to CST and love having them in our community.
Terrible place. Found needles in the floor of the seat next to me and had to leave immediately. Gross
A quirky little date night destination if I ever saw one! Love the history of the place, as well as their variety of entertainment. I went with friend to see The Big Lebowski just before the holidays. Would definitely recommend! Also, plan ahead to arrive early. There is limited street parking and typically not many tickets left at the window!
Best Rocky Horror experience. Amazing staff that really get into it and plenty of audience participation.
Frikken love this place
A terrific, eclectic selection of movies, documentaries and talks. Friendly service and reasonable prices for concessions.
This place has a lot of potential. I enjoyed it, you could feel the history in the over 100 year old theater, which wasnt always a good thing. We had a packed theater on a hot summer day and the heat was nearly unbearable at least one of our party had to leave because it was too warm to keep breathing. Made the movie experience difficult to get through.Id like to go back but Ill probably wait until cooler times of the year.
You missed it! A great showing of Hidden Colors. If you dont know, now you know.
Such a great old theatre! Being there reminded me of when I saw Rocky Horror there 20 years ago with friends when I was a college student. Now I was back with my husband and kids for the Amazing Bubbleman, which was a very fun, funny, and truly a-mazing show! Go to Clinton St Theatre!
The rocky horror show was amazing. We had such a blast!!! Definitely try it out!
Fantastic environment, and wonderful service. Their hosting of the Annual Guignol Film Festival is a feat in and of itself! And free movies every Monday? Whats not to like? Check it out today!!!
Attended the 48 hour Film Festival, a friend had entered and exhibited. Nice, casual place with a great selection of films. One of the oldest theaters in Portland, from 1915 (I think thats the year).
Fun local theater. Good crowd for annual Big Lebowski tradition.
Love this place; there are plenty of indie theaters in town, but Clinton by far plays the most obscure / niche / hard to find stuff around.
Came to see the Monkey with a Hat On Mystery 10 Minute Play Festival and loved it! The theater is definitely retro and was great for a live performance. Concessions are reasonably priced so get a couple GRAPEFRUIT ciders and go to town. I cannot speak to the quality of the projector since I didnt see a movie.
Wonderful thought provoking shows. with live music by local musicians. A Must visit place
Show was excellent. Cast was great. Had a blast.
Caught the game of thrones season finale for free! It was awesome and they do have shows. Community feel.
Most fun and energetic atmosphere youll ever have with the rocky horror picture show night!!
I went to Rocky Horror here and it was wonderful. The staff was extremely kind and helpful when a man tried to start a fight with me. A wonderful experience with wonderful people
One of the oldest cinemas this side of the Mississippi. Amazing Staff and management. Good selection of non typical cinema movie snacks. Although I should point out after my last visit it looks as if the projector bulb needs to be replaced.
First time here and we got to watch Big Lebowski!!! Not much trouble finding parking nearby. Cool little historic theater. Seats are modern but not the newest plush seats. Still comfy enough to enjoy the movie. Average snack bar. One awesome thing I noticed is that they had a water cooler with cups available. Was able to grab a quick drink without shelling out $5 for a soda I didnt want. We got popcorn and candy as well.
I feel nostalgic when I walk into this theater!
This is a really great theater for the most part. Great environment and employees buy the front area is really cramped and I only saw one bathroom with a huge line. Had a great time here though
This was the first time Id ever gone to see the live show for Rocky Horror. It was one hell of a good time, even though we were soaking wet from waiting in the rain. If youre a fan of Rocky Horror, or other cult classics, this is a great place to be.
Saw rocky horror there and loved it! So energetic and fun, defitnly go when they have the shadow cast its absolutely worth it.
Great shows service dog friendly
Charming venue. Highly recommend.
We came here to show my wife the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Not only her first time seeing the movie, but we ended up on the night where people come in dress us, and act it out too. It was a little much for her for the first time to follow the movie, but she had a good time.
Nice theater. Much like all the other older theaters in town.
Good theater, wonderfully eclectic selection of movies.
Rocky Horror Picture Show is such a blast! I highly recommend going to this debaucherous event at least once.
Great performance with Rocky Horror Picture Show. Nice theater.
I was there in 1980
A VERY NICE place to go and watch a film with friends!Me and a friend of mine have spent a couple weeks viewing the films they have their, and they REALLY ARE pretty good!
Beautiful women at the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Great documentary about our American tribes and their growing life and death struggles with the insidious impact of climate change on their homelands.
Nice space, lovely staff, kind of a surprising amount of leg room?? good stuff
Fun and funky Portland icon.
Great place to have fun
One of the best indieyrevival theaters in Portland. Always a treat every time I go.
Nice, small. Local indie film
This small, 222-seat theater is the oldest continuously running movie theater in America, and is famously known for its 39-year weekly showing of Rocky horror picture show at midnight every Saturday. It also hosts live events, which is what we attended. Great snack bar, clean, and well maintained. Take a look at the schedule on their web site to see the community-centered events, performance, and independent movies that make this one of Portlands hidden treasures.
A great Portland landmark. They do so many amazing showing of a wide variety of movie genres and stage performances. Of course they have one of the longest running Rocky shows in the country but their other projects and shows are great too. Nice concession options and comfortable chairs. Nice for a night out with friends or a date.
Funky old timey theater with a super bohemian and activist vibe
Small historic cozy theater. Expensive snacks.
Sand bullion is a good movie and AK is a great place
Always a great time at the Clinton Street Theater. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is always a blast!
Small and beautiful. This little theater is a fixture in SE Portland and deserves more business. They feature theater based work, movies, and film festivals. My friend recently premiered his film there and many others have held festivals and plays. Please give this place a chance for a place to stop, or your next event.
Best Place To See The Rocky Horror Picture Show You Will All Fit Right In Literally They Make You Part Of The Show So Have Fun
The staff here are such sweethearts, and the historic venue is beautiful in its own very quirky, unique, Portland sort of way. Rocky shows with the Cabaret are a blast too. I have never been to a show or screening here and had anything short of a great time. Plus, free/benefit retro flicks every Monday? Awesome!
There is nothing like this place in all of Portland. Its the last haven for real fun.
Family-friendly great place to watch a movie have a beer. Loads of free events always a fun time#datenight#portland
Lovely old theatre!
Great event. Pete Seeger celebration on what would have been his 100th birthday. Sponsored be Columbia Riverwatch.
Saw indie film Giuseppe there
Its so wonderful there, feels like home all the time. Nice place for the out cast who feels or gets judged at other places, to go see a movie or something(especially the rocky horror picture show)
Cool little theater that is so nostalgic and fun! Real butter on your popcorn. Wine, craft beers, sodas, etc. Love it, going back. Parking wasnt too bad.
Was very entertaining. What a treat. Would have enjoyed more if the seats were a lil more comfy. Thanks.
Went to Clinton street theatre to see documentary film called Tomorrow, it was great, a film on climate change on solutions. They said Clinton theatre will be closed and people need to donate and support it to keep it open. I donated and I hope you will too. It educates the public like no other theatre in Portland.-Harmony & Dulce
Love this place! Its older and well loved. But, very clean. They show just about every genre of movies. But RHPS Saturday nights is still my favorite!!!
Nice place I think more people should go.
I liked bubbleman it was entertaining
Its a landmark theatre, that feels like youre at a movie theatre. Very different from the corporate brick and steel mall Cineplex
Great non profit support program.
The atmosphere is perfect: divey yet clean, pushing the boundaries yet still a safe space, fun and friendly. They have cheap beer, cheap candy and cheap thrills! Clinton Street Theater is one of the few remaining institutions that absolutely oozes early 90s alternative culture with a heavy splat of 70s every Saturday night during the Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight viewing. The cast who put on RHPS are a riot and the emcee is dandy, even with the first-timers.
Great place to catch the Rocky Horror Picture Show performed live with a regularly changing but always skilled and enthusiastic cast on stage and the film itself playing on the screen. Its a trip and a laugh riot. A word of warning, if youve never been, get into the spirit of things and just enjoy the atmosphere; its not supposed to make sense. Youll have no idea whats going on in the actual film, but thats half the fun anyways.
Went to see the rocky horror picture show last night, it was god awful. The games were really fun and the opening, but once the show started it was a disaster. It looked like they had never done it before never rehearsed and just asked some fans to try it out off the bat. Every time they had scripted lines they said it all at different times so you had no idea what anyone was saying. Through the show the actors were constantly yelling jokes, but it wasnt planned and it was all at once as if be the loudest and youll be heard was the motto. I felt like I was watching a middle school play the whole time would never ever recommend going to see the rocky horror picture show at this theatre.
I love this place. went to their annual showing of The Big Lebowski on Christmas day.
This is a community non-profit.The kind of place where you use an honor system to get in., really Portland-style. Use it often. You can contribute to their presence in the community by using the place, giving a few extra dollars for your tickets and getting your popcorn and drinks here. You can also rent the place for birthdays, parties, political events.
This theater is so much fun! Its the place to see retro films or local film festivals.Enthusiastic film buff staff is very friendly.Concessions are basic and a bit hard to access as theyre sandwiched in a hallway. There are plenty of bars and eateries within walking distance.Parking on the street can be a challenge, so arrive well before show time. Its always a blast to visit this Portland icon!
Love the sheer vintage quirk, the posters, the beer...supports KBOO...my favorite!
The oldest operating theater on the west coast! Dont miss the donation-only Monday night series, with a great selection of charitable causes and fun flicks. Waynes World was twice as fun with a theater full of fans laughing and singing along!
Quaint but cute.
Great old theater venue. Nice snack bar. Comfortable seats. Fun venue.
Fims, music and plays shown here.
Nice theater!
Saw FIX- The Ministry Movie tonight. Outstanding show! Director, producer, and Paul Barker from Ministry were there. The movie plays for a week here before it busts out big time. Check it out before everyone else does, and you can say you saw it first. Very worth the watch!
Definately worth attending rocky horror at least once here for some good but definately not clean fun.
Showed up a night early for the Rocky horror picture show. Was really bummed we werent able to see the show but Austin in the front was very understanding and totally awesome. I will be returning for the show because of the pure awesomeness of the theatre and staff. Cant wait to see the show.
You want original, out of the box, thought provoking entertainment? THIS IS THE PLACE. I especially adore the Monkey With A Hat On productions - all original theatre locally written, cast, and produced!
Great old theater, longest running shows.I saw the Bubble man here with my kids. Super old Portland sweet spot.
Nice thearter with great popcorn!
This was my first show at the Clinton Street Theater and the employees were amazing. I will definitely be returning and recommending shows here to my friends and family.
Good vintage theater!
Charming old theater with a stage. Warning to the wider folks, seats are pretty snug
Watched a 10 minute play fest. Really fun.
We had a great experience at this theater. We saw the AMAZING Bubble Man. It was a lot of fun, intimate, and the perfect price for the five of us.
My favorite theater in Portland!
