Man, I wanted to love this place. First of all, service was amazing. We had a female server and she was super attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience wonderful. We booked a private theater for our birthday party. The room was nice, it was very clean, and the sound was great. The second I ordered a drink, it was returned quickly and quietly. Great server! Now for the bad... the food was really, really bad. We had a room of 10 and only one person ate the food. The lamb meatballs were so dry and hard, we couldn’t cut them with a fork. They tried to remake them, but I think they must be prepared ahead of time and frozen. Super dried out and just... awful. The “papas”, which were supposed to be steak fries? Every single person on the room had raw potatoes. They weren’t cooked long enough. Every plate except one was full when we left and we had to eat when we got home, which was super disappointing.
I celebrated my birthday here and omfg the food was stellar. I’m still dreaming about the eggplant parmesan sandwich. Best one I’ve ever had. The papas and pretzels were amazing, too. I wasn’t expecting the food to be so fantastic and was pleasantly surprised. The drinks were great and the servers were all super nice. We’re going back for another friend’s birthday this month because we had such a great experience.
We ordered a private theater due to Covid-19 and had the best time! I highly recommend this outing with friends or family in your bubble.
Great staff, good selection of movies nice theaters. Good food. What more could you ask for. My favorite place to see a movie
I love this theater! I’ve only been once but I was blown away. Reasonably priced, comfy large seats, and you can order drinks at the bar and take them into the movie with you! They are reasonably priced as well so that was so cool! Will definitely be back!
I love and miss this theater so much ️
Be sure to check and then check again to ensure you know what order the seats are laid out in. Otherwise you’ll be in the front row when you think you’re at the back (my friend booked the tickets, so lots of user error in that). Drinks are a tad expensive, but it’s downtown so I guess that’s just normal. The popcorn is very tasty.
Just a long time fan. Not the best food selection, but the staff has always been wonderful and I enjoy the movies they put out. I definitely would recomend enjoying a night out when they have live music performances.
Im not really a go to the movies sort of person. I like the comfort of home, the ability to drink a bottle of wine and to gorge myself on a cheese plate without judgemental eyes all while wearing sweatpants... which is why Living Room is literally the only theater Ill go to.Take a date, or take yourself on a date... the films selections are fantastic, the food is delicious (hello, happy hour) and Ive rarely encountered staff more accepting of my life choices. Theyre also super attentive and amenable to food allergies!
This place is clean and fun. Good drinks and food. They should offer refills on the Popcorn, but other than that, awesome.Start refilling popcorn for 5 stars. Until then, just 4 stars.
Great small theater with awesome food and drink
As a movie buff, I love the dinner and movie experience. The food was alright. I enjoyed their popcorn more than my eggplant parm sandwich. The drinks were great. The staff could be more patient with those who have allergies. I adored the theatre.
Rude bartender! She had our drinks made and got distracted. There were only 2 other people at the bar and they had drinks so I asked her about them after standing at the counter for about 10 minutes and she said we needed to wait. Then someone finally saw the drinks sitting there and brought them over. We got them about 15 minutes after they were made so the ice melted. We waited so long at the counter for our drinks that we missed the start of the movie! We didnt complain, just not going back there. Many other cooler places in Portland.
One of my favorite spots in downtown! Rooms are always clean, food is good, drinks are nice and tasty. If you need a new place to go for a date or a night off, try Living Room Theater! I havent been disappointed so far.
I arrived at the theater without my showtime voucher. The usher said it was the only way I could get in. After reviewing their policy and running back home to retrieve it; the policy clearly stated they could have let me into the theater by running the card I used to purchase my ticket. My two friends who I had also purchased tickets for on the same voucher were let in as I was running back home. They happened to be white and all that was required from them was their seat numbers. No hard proof of a purchased ticket.
Always a great place for a movie. Food and drinks area available in the bar & you can get both delivered to your seat in the theater too. The theaters are small & intimate and you select your seats when you buy your tickets. Easy access to the theater by Street Car and the #20 bus line in Burnside. Check the Fandango app for schedule and to see what is playing.
I can’t say enough about this theatre. We love it and go as often as we can. The movie selection is unique which makes it way better that so many other theatre’s. This is the first spot we choose when going out to a movie, without fail.
Ahi salad for 15 is pretty be respectable. My only complaint is the popcorn is a little on the small side, and the only recliners are in the very front row, making the viewing experience less than what it could be. Note you will want to put salt on your popcorn, which is actually great, I just didnt realize they dont really put salt on it like most theaters.Timing your food to come in the theater is a little tricky also. We got there a little early so they just told us to eat in the bar. Its all reserved seats so buy your ticket ahead of time and just show up around showtime to order your food (ignore theater suggestion to get there early to order).
My first time at this beautiful theatre! Loved it, we had a delicious lunch. I really enjoyed the small plate offerings, I had the white bean crostini and the meatballs, delicious! Servers were friendly and very accommodating to a member of our group with dietary restrictions. The theater itself was cozy and comfortable, lots of leg room too!
Cool spot to watch movies in theaters at the moment and other great films that arent available at traditional theaters. Staff is always friendly and they have food/drinks.The only issue I have is with the LED lights inside of the theater walls, they obscure my vision but dont mess with the movie being shown. Will definitely be back!
Best popcorn in town. Perfect for a mid-day matinee with their selection of artistic films and delicious snacks.
When you order burgers “well done” you don’t want pink or red meat inside. We had to ditch our take out burgers on Amtrak after trying to eat around the rawness. I’m feeling the after effects today. Twenty eight dollars down the drain.
We had a really disappointing experience at Living Room Theatres. The movie we saw ended up freezing halfway through, we had to wait at least 5-10 minutes for them to fix it. The attendant though that the theatre was empty for some reason after I had gone out and told her the movie had frozen. They restarted the movie but then left the lights on in the theatre for another 30 minutes. No apology from the staff or anything.I dont expect to pay $12.50 to see a movie and then have it freeze halfway through, it was a pretty bad moviegoing experience. I probably wont be back. You could see pretty much all the movies that were playing at another theatre for cheaper and it wont freeze on you.
Great place to see the movie. The name fits! Comfortable and spacious seating with food and drinks at your fingertips. The only thing missing is the ability to pause the movie to get another drink.
The movie was great! The seats were comfortable. On street parking. Popcorn and drinks were served in OPEN GLASS (thus, heavier & slipperier) containers. The worst part was handicap seating. There were knee-high round tables in the way! No way to get W/C or walker to the seats we chose! (We didnt know that they were there when we paid.) Had to really disturb the other patrons to get to our seats. We wont be going back.
This is a great theatre. Great location, great prices, great movies, great facilities. The service is always friendly and efficient. The food is tasty and you can eat it IN the theatre while you are watching the film. Great bar too. Why would you go anywhere else to watch a film?
Really impressed by their high quality selection of films... Love the big seats and the popcorn really is the best stuff in town...
Absolutely loved seeing 1917 here. Cozy little theaters you can bring your drink into.
Small intimate theaters, with food delivered to your seat if you wish. A relaxing place to see a movie.
Real dishes, silverware, cloth napkins and food delivered to your table! Easy to make reservations for table or seat. Crew is very pleasant and helpful - since I am in a electric wheelchair I really appreciated their attitude.
Good model for movie theater. But the food, which they bring to your seat, was dreadful. Might be new mgt in the kitchen, as weve liked it in the past, but skip the restaurant and enjoy the movie.
Fantastic theatre! Awesome staff (big shout out to Richard!) Best popcorn ever. Love coming here solo or on a date!!
Great comfortable little theater with big seats and moderate ticket prices. The chairs are getting a bit worn out and the finish is rubbed off on the edges of the tables but thats easy to ignore. The seats go right up against the walls, so be sure to book seats near the center.
Comfortable place to watch a movie. Small theaters with reserved seating (sit in back 3 rows if you want to take in the whole screen comfortably). Food is decent & staff is friendly. Love going to matinees.
Comfy chairs, clean restrooms, and a great snack and bar menu! They pick good movies, too.
Great venue for film. Delicious popcorn a reclining front row seat. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Judy here!
The best thing about the LRT are the movies they book. Otherwise there are at least a half dozen neighborhood movie theaters that are charming and comfy and worth visiting.
We saw a movie here on my last day in the city. Made such a memorable night
Great for date night.Seats are comfy, food and drinks are reasonably priced and picture and sound quality is great.Buy your tickets online. The chicken sandwich and burger are great. The fries/JoJo are seasoned well.Candy is someone expensive.
The best drinks from Lindsey the bartender amazing service keeping it classy! From two New Yorkers point of view had the best time excellent service 5 all around!!
Bartender super friendly and helpful. Food was fine, nothing special. Theater was downright dirty and sticky, part of the seat was literally falling apart. Do not have your food delivered to your theater seats. Eat at the bar or not at all.
Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable seats. Clean, warm, and welcoming!
Smaller theater downtown showing independent and mainstream movies in a cozy space with comfy seating and good food and snack choices.
I really wanted to like the Living Room, but regretfully the experience was poor.We couldn’t even sit in the seats we bought tickets for as the theater wasn’t even cleaned. Someone finally came in to clean them (after!) the movie already started. The popcorn was also really soggy and gross. The seats don’t recline and are stiff. It was disappointing.
Always a pleasure to lounge in their comfortable seats and eat their really fine popcorn. Also really reasonable prices, Id say.
A new twist on the movie theater experience. Everything is personalized and the lounge like feel is very nice and welcome in comparison to the normal theater going experience.Drinks are allowed in the theater as well so thats a plus.
A little disappointing. They do have a bar and large menu unfortunately they dont bring the food out to you during the show. I didnt have the food so I cant comment on it. The theature itself does have tables but only the front row has reclining seats. On the plus side you can rent a room for any movie but you must have the blue ray OR DVD it cant do live pay per view.
Never been to a movie theater like this. The name suits it. I think it only had 4 different theater rooms which were somewhat of an intimate vibe. I loved the whole feel of it. My husband and I only want to watch movies here from now on. Plus side they have a bar/restaurant. You can grab some drinks and take it with you inside the theater.
Renting theaters during covid!
The two men serving at the front counter must have been having a really bad day. The discomfort and pure frustration in whatever they were going through was showing through in there service so brightly it was hard to have a good time. It would also help if when you go up to the front desk to order your food they would let you know the order of things and how they go. We were very confused on where we wait to get our food, or where to wait at all. We seen people wondering around with the same confused dilemma going on. Some WITH there plate and drink just wondering around, and some lime us who didnt know where to wait or how the food would get to us. I think a little explanation on the flow of things, or maybe signs would help tremendously. Also if the two men at the counter could leave there problems at home, instead of making us feel dumb or like we were on their nerves. My boyfriend is usually the more level headed person in the relationship and he was honestly not sure if he was going to flip on the guys by asking a simple question. The experience was tough but i like the idea of dinner and a movie. I think well stick to cinatopia.
Crazy two way bathroom mirrors! Cool atmosphere and Aesthetics. If youre planning a movie night with dinner and beer for 2 plan on dropping at least $100.
Still leaving my 5-star review because I love Living Room but I have to say that the bean burger I had today was honestly one of the worst burgers Ive ever had. Incredibly dry, borderline cold, and the bun felt stale. I would have sent it back (which I dont think I have ever done anywhere) but the film had already started. Such a bummer because the food has always been great there before.
Small theater with good sounds and screens. Seats arent recliners but theyre comfy and offer lots of room, not crowded feeling at all even in a sold out show. Food can be pricey, but I think thats to be expected.
Great place to watch movies. Comfortable seats, plenty of space, and not very many kids.
Confortable, cozy, home theather. Whats missing is heated seats then its purrrfect for cold and rainy portland days
Cute little theater - needs updating with recliner seats - it lists they have them -- they dont! The seats are okay. Popcorn is yummy and they have full bar and restaurant. Quality 3D too. They are very inclusive and have great service.
Cheap movies, Student discounts, and a well priced happy hour menu make this a great spot to spend a Friday night. Living room theaters has a wonderful atmosphere (better than most big theaters) especially for the price. Enjoy this gem if you get a chance!
I came on Tuesday and saw a 3D movie. No discount as in most other theaters. There is a discount on Tuesdays for regular movies. The screens are small and the picture is no the sharpest but you can order food and drinks. There are some tables available. This theater offers foreign and low budget movies
Love this place. Great movies, great comfy seats, great cocktails, great food...go!!!
They play really interesting indie movies here I love it
Small and cozy. Feels like, well, a living room. Good food and drinks, can be brought in to you. Movies are sometimes new, sometimes classics, sometimes indie.
Great little theater, comfortable seating. Good sound system
It is so civilized. Order ahead and select your seating. Good food. Armchair comfort.
Nice seats, good movie selections, and nice food/beer served to your seat. And the tickets are super cheap.
Popcorn was okay, seats were needing a good deep clean upholstery. Convenient to get food and drinks delivered to you in the theater.
Comfy seats but kind of awkward for eating during the movie.
I went about a month ago as a tourist and it was the bestest movie theater I had ever been to.
Small, intimate theaters, great food, no refills on the large popcorn which was a bit difficult for a popcorn addict like me, but the SUPER comfy seats make up for it. My hubby and I loved it because when you take up the arm in between the seats we can sit close like sitting on a loveseat.
It was like being in your living room. The chairs are roomy and comfortable. The movie was outstandingly good. We saw A Star Is Born. BEST MOVIE EVER. Lady Gaga needs to get the Best Actress Oscar hands down. I couldnt have seen it at a better theater. So comfy, so cozy, so welcoming. I will go back often.
Small quaint theater. Its comfortable enough, but you could hear the other movie playing in the theater next door. Seems like they show some mainstream and some independent, small release films. Id see a flick here again.
The food is OK. Seats in the theater are comfortable.
They give teachers $2 off with ID. Comfy seats. Didnt try the food since we got there right on time. Great place. Will come back.
Our go to small theater for our independent movie! Its about half and half when it comes to movie choices. Serves food, candy, beer ($7) and wine! Seats about 45-50 max but whenever we come its always empty- we have it all to ourselves. Very intimate-Big loveseats with lots of led room and mini tables/cup holders. Though its hard to come by, sometimes if youre lucky- you can find a thing to put your feet up.
I love Living Room Theaters! They have the most comfortable seats in the business, with ample leg and elbow room, the $6 ticket nights on BOTH Mon & Tue for 1st run films is appreciated by this college student, and their online ticket buying platform is top-shelf, allowing you to secure tickets, beat the lines, and, check this out, actually CHOOSE YOUR OWN RESERVED SEATS!Add in food/drink delivery to your seats (until the show starts) from their full kitchen and bar, and it gives a whole new twist to the idea of dinner and a movie Heads up, the menu is somewhat higher-end, $12 - $25 range, but again, you are definitely getting what you pay for, reminiscent of Gabriel Ruckers Le Pigeon gourmet rather than Dennys diner ( and uniformly delicious!)
Super small theaters with practically no sound proofing, be prepared to listen to the movies playing in the adjacent rooms in addition to your own. The theater doors exit straight into the main hallway too, so any time someone opens the door the whole room is flooded with light which is incredibly distracting.
Great theater in downtown Portland. Each theater is smaller than a standard one, but in a nice and cozy way. Chairs are comfortable and you can have food and drinks delivered to you before the movie starts. I would suggest showing up early or buying tickets in advance since new movies can sell out quickly.
Great seats and great prices also they have drinks
Nice relaxing intimate older theater. You can order happy hour food and drink and full meals before the movie and it is brought to your seat. You get assigned seats
Living Room is an apt description: very relaxed atmosphere, and small theater space. Need to place your food order at the bar before taking your seat; very good food.
Comfortable seating. Good choice of actual food and snacks. Reasonably priced.
Comfy chairs, but small auditorium(s). Probably best buy tix online before heading there. And of course its downtown so parking... Cool jazz playing in the lounge. Cute place!
As always, a great place to watch a movie & enjoy an IPA!
Love this place. Super awesome location and tye popcorn is the best. Real butter anyone :)
Extremely comfortable, cost atmosphere to watch movies with your friends. Lovely selection of food to dine during movie time!
Wonderful theater with a mix of indie and mainstream movies. Good food and drink options too.
All in all i love this theater. I get to see lots of indie and foreign films that dont play anywhere else. My one complaint(and it is a big one) is that many times i have been there i can barely hear the movie. This doesnt happen to me anywhere else so i know it isnot just me. PLEASE turn up the sound or get better speakers.
They have live music in the bar area and they’re mixed drinks are some of the best in Portland. Very friendly staff and very comfortable seating. The food selection is incredible for the movie theater and you can have your food while watching a movie. The movie selection of course, is incredible.
Favorite place to see a film while enjoying a beer.
Very cozy, reliable staff, good food, great chairs. Awesome place for a date!
Fantastic place to take in a movie, dinner, or drinks, or ALL OF THE ABOVE! GREAT service! Wonderful (and different) snacks and coffee or alcohol beverages. Hot food as well! And, of course, the BEST MOVIES at the lowest local prices. (Mon.& Tues. nights only $6!)
Super comfy seats and a nice bar to get some dinner and a drink before your movie. Love this place.
Awful food, not enough employees, young employees who didnt know what they were doing, the screen played audio with no visual for a while before they finally fixed it 15 minutes after it was supposed to start, theater wasnt dark enough, chairs looked comfortable but were not, and there was a singular ottoman in the theater. Once they got the movie going, it was good quality, but everything else just makes me definitely not want to return. Do not recommend!
