I really like the venue. The last artist I saw there was Paul Gilbert. Its big enough to hold a decent sized audience, but not so large that being at the back of the theater requires binoculars. The acoustics are good and every act Ive seen there has had good levels. If someone I like is playing there, I will never second guess whether I should go. Finally, there is no assigned seating, so count in getting there a little early to stand in line for a bit.
The Aladdin is a great place to see a show. Ive been to three there, and the venue always yields an intimate show. The concession lines can seem a little daunting, but the staff keeps people moving quickly. Theres an attached bar/restaurant called The Lamp which is alleged to have excellent fries, but I havent tried it as yet. This past show, they had one of my favorite hard ciders, True Love blueberry from New West, which only made the show that much more enjoyable.
Fantastic small venue with great sound! Just saw the music of Cream which included the extremely talented family members from the original band, amazing show! This is what the Aladdin is all about
Great venue for seeing your favorite bands and an intimate setting. Beer available but only a single IPA, but still friendly service. Seats for those who want to sit down during the show are nice, but the standing section was a little too small and felt very cramped next to the girl who was really really really really really really really enjoying the music and flailing around a bit too much for the type area we were in. I cant blame her though, Ive been there before...
Id probably recommend this theater if you were missing an abusive ex. The staff were over the top rude. The venue itself is super cute with a great feel; and you really do have a great view of the stage from every spot. Will just see my favorite artists in Seattle instead of Portland if they book the Aladdin.
First time here. Garcia Birthday Band was awesome but the staff/venue don’t know their demographic. No room to dance (everyone had to dance in an small area that was outlined with tape). If you were even a little bit outside the tape, security asked you to get back in the lines. We found that more room upstairs away from the crowd so we can have space, but staff said we were dancing too much. You can’t smoke outside, you have to walk further down the street. They checked my fanny pack each time I went to the bar and back in. The venue could be great but the staff is on a power trip. If they put in effort to understand the demographic of their guests and remove seats to provide more room for dancing, it would have resolved many of the same issues people continue to experience. We left early after having such a poor experience. We traveled to Portland specifically to see this band at this venue, but from this experience we won’t be coming back.
Its venerable age and small size made the concert we attended more like a neighborhood gathering than a mega-event. You wont find Vegas headliners here; rather a continuous stream of musicians eager to please. The place is short on luxury, but long on enthusiasm and appreciative audiences.
Great venue for live music. Acoustics, sound and sight lines are excellent. Full bar nice. Only complaint is that the seats are shot and in need of an upgrade.
Great space with good acoustics. Its small enough that you can see the performer clearly even from the back of the house. At my show, the middle section seemed to stand (and sing along loudly) but the side sections seemed to stay seated, and it was was easy to see over the people in the front of me . In the back sitting beneath the balcony overhang seemed to help muffle the singalong - if that happens to annoy you as much as it does me. The seats were still comfortable after over two hours as well.
Great venue! We saw the Golden Girls live and it was perfect. The drink line is long but moves very quickly.
Acoustics are fantastic in this little gem of a theater located in Se Portland. Great bar and good pizza is available at shows. If you ever get the chance to see Ladysmith Black Mambazo here its something youll remember for the rest of your life.
Great small venue for up close and personal experiences. Not a bad seat in the whole place. Love coming here for various musical experiences.
Absolutely adored this place. There were definitely faults, but not worth docking any stars. The chairs are old and I had a spring against my butt all night, they are rather close together so hopefully youre okay with getting to know your neighbor. The wife and I went to see Ezra Furman and Pancho Morris. Id never heard of Pancho Morris before, but Im looking forward to his next album. Hes amazing. As for the main event, Ezra is a life changing experience, and this place only added to it. His passion through his singing when solo, and band complimenting him only benefitted from being so close to everyone around you. It felt more intimate than any other show Ive been to.When I first got inside and my elephant was stamped on to me, I was a bit skeptical as to why such an incredible person like Ezra would choose a place that almost looked rundown. Dont make the same mistake I did. This place has a certain air to it. Just trust it and enjoy your experience. Youll be glad youre coming here. Cheap seats, the nicest staff, and definitely the best bands/artists. You should come here, and you should start listening to Ezra Furman.Im not good enough with words to describe the sensation being in this place gives you, nor a good enough detective to tell you why it happens. Just come here, and I know youll get it. Its friendly, welcoming, cheap, historic, and it has a lot of personality. Just do yourself a favor. Support your local indie artists.
This is a good place to see a show. We saw the comedian Christina P. Sound was good and easy to see. We were in the balcony and had assigned seats. They had beer downstairs and mixed drinks. Not much in the way of food lots of people go to the Lamp which is right by the theater.
The seating here could use some updating, but otherwise this theater has SO MUCH charm. Great experience here.
Awesome place for shows. Love it. Parking is non-existent take an uber.
Good music. Decent beer. Interesting space. Chairs arent great so stand up.
Great place to enjoy music and shows. Tickets are usually reasonable. Looking forward to going back. The Lamp is a good place to have a snack before the show and then you can get a wrist band to let you take a short line.
This is great venue. Just the right size. Sound is always on point and great and fairly diverse shows.
Great music venue. Loved the size as it felt more intimate and the sound here was great. Would definitely come back to see another show here. The only downfall is that, if you really enjoy being in the pit, there really isnt a lot of room to stand - but the seating still has great views.
Venue feels pretty outdated. Huge lines to get drinks and use the bathroom. Seats very small and uncomfortable. Feels like they are cramming in as many people as possible. Wouldnt go again tbh unless there are a specific comedian/musician.
First time last Friday to see Orgône, the theatre is very cute from the early 30’s. The scene is quite big, you can stand or seat! Actually i stand up all the ´Night show Orgône was exceptional you cannot imagine ! Fabulous singer and musician .... very talented people, and very human and peaceful ! LOVE IS THE ANSWER
Classic old person venue ... perfect for me. I can get up and rock if I want, or I can sit comfortably in my seat. Great seats no matter where in the venue.
I just tried to buy tickets for a Glass Animals concert and their site glitched on me. When I tried to buy the tickets again they were sold out. I like your venue but get your website fixed so fans dont get screwed over. Plus calling your phone number just automatically hangs up on me. So much for service.
Went there last night to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Great sound. We sat up in the balcony and had birds eye view of the stage. Show sold out in like 3 days so get your tickets early if you wanna see something there. Staff was friendly and overall a great experience. Would definitely return there again.
The venue is more intimate and has a great atmosphere. There are seats available if you would like to use them and during the concert I attended a medium size standing area near the stage. I believe there is a bar/restaurant as well. Employees are friendly and accommodating. The prices for at least some of the concessions are reasonably priced. I went to a concert about 3 weeks ago with my brother and his wife and we all had a great time. It was actually their first concert and the size of the venue was perfect for them and I. Definitely recommend.
Nice little venue. For someone into rock shows, I wouldnt typically come here, but last year, Sleeping With Sirens played an acoustic show here, so of course I came to this. The Aladdin Theater is a seated venue. At the SWS concert, they had a small standing area. Gets packed easily. I dont know if that area is normally standing, but it was for that. The sound system was excellent. Its a very cozy, roomy atmosphere, and felt very intimate, especially as this was an acoustic show. All in all, would come here again if Im feeling something softer.
What a fun venue! Or was it fun because JJGrey was playing..either or, it was a night to remember! Food is great...drinks are too!! Dress light, as it gets pretty warm inside! The upper deck was even more stuffy...
Saw the amazing cat show and it was excellent! Great view from upper balcony.
Great gem. Well run machine bringing unique acts to Portland. Buy tickets at their little ticket office.
Great place to hear live entertainment. The sound quality is better than my phone can reproduce.
We saw Judy Collins last evening at the Alladin. Fabulous show. The venue was excellent.
Not bad but not great. Great show venue but they need some work. I mean the place is like 100 and the seats in there show it. Smaller than airline seats. Also the only restroom is upstairs by the balcony. So they really really need to upgrade some things. Besides that I was pleasantly surprised to see the snacks and drinks stands were not exorbitantly priced. Rather reasonable for a show venue which is a shock in Portland these days.
Nice, fun venue to see a band. One star knocked off for no alcohol service during final act.
Unquestionably the best music venue in PDX simply by the measure of the artists that perform here. The acoustics are surprisingly good for an old movie theater. Ive been going to concerts here for 25+years, and in all that time very little has changed. I would suggest they consider replacing the seats, which appear to date from the original 1927 opening.
Came to see Ron Pope & was very impressed. Will be back again.
Great sound system for live music. The view of the stage was amazing. I will be coming back to this venue for other events.
Such a fun little theater! They have incredible live performances curated by a genius with a true love of the unique. The annual shows by Storm Large are one of my favorites. The chairs are older and still comfortable. It really helps that the aisles are wide with plenty of leg room. Meat or lentil pies are a delicious snack to go along with a brilliant selection of beer, wine, and cider.Take a chance with an act youre unfamiliar with and have a great night!
Always love this venue! The Lamp is next door for good drinks and food. The sound system is incredible! Every show Ive been to Ive had a blast! Staff is GREAT!
Enjoyable old theater except for the front stickler security guard
Ive been here for 2 shows! The most recent one was for the lovely wild child. Such a unique venue. If you like concerts that you can sit down at this is the place for you, they also sell food, snacks, and drinks here during each show and are chill about it. Both experiences here have been great, and I will be definitely going back for future shows. Orginally was a vaudeville theatre, very cool history to look into for the place.
The sound is always incredible. I love going to shows at Aladdin. Even after all these years, its still one of the best places in town to see a live show.
Sat in the back row and still had a great view. Acoustics were great. Im a bit guy and didnt feel cramped by the seats.
Great music venue. Good food and beverages.
Cool Place, good view from most seats. Its a small theater at 600 so your pretty close anywhere. Restrooms are only upstairs so FYI. For events the basics exist such as pizza and snacks along with a beer or two and wine.
Great venue and classic architecture. Always fun.
Great concert by Henry Kapono and Keola Beamer!
Great shows. Seats could be more comfortable.
Staff great, accommodating. Savory pies are worth walking in for. Music satisfied and kept is there. Wished for ventilation, hot and stinky at end, dress light
It was a neat experience. Old timey decor, plenty of seating, area to stand by the stage, great acoustics, lots of local bar scene nearby in case you want a bite to eat or something to drink. Only downside was that all parking is street parking, so you may or may not be close to the theater, but in the days of Uber and Lyft, among many other options including public transportation, that is easily remedied. Over all great experience, had a lot of fun. Will go back.
Great tribute concert with Appetite for deception and hysteria! Fun old school theater!
Even the folding chairs are comfy :-) Great concert, underattended and intimate. Coffee at the snack bar is good and free refills. Alcoholic drinks are pretty steep, though. Sound system is excellent. Parking is challenging.
Saw Paul Gilbert On the “Behold Guitar Tour” and our family had an excellent experience! Paul decided to not sell posters for this show but the venue had some printed up. The staff heard me talking to the merch guys and grabbed the poster out of the window then got Paul to sign it for me! We came in all the way from Spokane WA for the event and will definitely be looking forward to attending future events!
The seats are incredibly small and dont bother sitting up front because people stand in front of you next to the stage. Might as well sit up in the balcony.
This is actually a pretty cool place. It kind of looks like a hole in the wall because outside is littered and trashy looking (maybe the whole neighborhood is like that I dont know, I live on the west side) but then you go inside and its very nice. Old school I suppose but very comfortable. Theres built in seating too, which I suppose all theaters might have but there is a spot in front where youre allowed to stand, maybe 50-75 people could comfortably fill in the space.
This is an old theater but I felt right at home. The staff are amazing and so was the concert! Seats need to be updated to something comfortable. I will recommend this place to everyone!
Very much enjoyed hearing Judy Collins there.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, the only thing i would suggest is some recovering of the seats to make more comfortable to sit in.
Wonderful venue to enjoy an intimate concert. Saw JJ Grey in a one man show. There really isnt a bad seat in the house. The only down side was the concessions line was a bit confusing. Received conflicting information from two people working there on where to que up. One told me to stand just inside the auditorium door and pointed at the spot I should stand. Then a moment later the other person came by and berated me for standing where I was just told to stand. The first thing the second person said to me was, I told you not to stand there and made me move about a foot and a half. I guess its true, power corrupts.
I enjoy the Aladdin! The staff are sharp, watching over the visitors but they all seem friendly and aproachable with smiles. There is a bar with food and beverages and you can bring drinks into the show area. You can sit in seats or stand at the front. The show I was at recently was sold out but I didnt feel like we were stuffed in like sardines. It was busy/full, but not oppressive. I also felt like I could see from all the vantage points. Nice job Aladdin!
We went to see Avi. Lovely historic theater! The staff is friendly and helpful. If you get a chance to go here... Do!
Have now seen 2 Netflix comedy specials at this theater (Pete Holmes Dirty Clean and Taylor Tomlinson Title TBD). Great small venue with no bad seats in the house. Reasonably priced too.
Cool theater, but the seats are definitely old and reminiscent of old box springs.
Friendly Staff. Since it is an original old theater, the newer sound system and the standing & seating areas are great for music concerts!
I wish the seats here are more comfortable. if you are above a size 12, Id say you are going to have a hard time finding a seat roomy enough. I love the charm of the place but its not a good venue for larger folks.
Had a blast for the concert...but the seats are old and my butt hurt after two hours sitting there... other than that it is a great old place.
Small music venue that hosts many musical acts(current and past). Always a great time coming here. Very relaxed atmosphere! If you dont like crowds, their seating capacity is roughly 600!
Pretty good sound quality and good acts come through here. Took off a couple stars because most of the venue is seated. Prefer open venues for dancing.
I went with my buddy and it was awesome..
One of the best venues in town.
Good night with Leo Kotke.
Really comfortable venue with a convenient attached bar.
I like the size and feel, but the sound system is dated.
Great venue for intimate concerts. Not a bad seat in this renovated movie theater. They bri g in a lot of acts that couldnt fill an arena. Feel very close to the performer.
The show was great. Staff were polite. Place was clean.
Really awesome venue in an old theater! They always have great shows and attract a lot of good talent. Really chill atmosphere with a bar connected in the front. This is a great place to go even if you are just being a chaperone!
Great venue. No bad seats and great acts.
Nice little venue in a city with a lot of nice little venues. The Lamp that’s attached has some good food and is a nice place to chill before a show.
People are great! They show tons of love for my people with the can situation. The place is bigger then I thought and was very pleasant show.
Fun spot for shows and great food!
Nice venuez but the seats are WAY too close together.
Love seeing shows here.
