My friends and I drove over 30 minutes to come to have picnic here, and the people working there were extremely rude. the driver’s license wasn’t issued in Nassau county, since the driver recently moved from a different region, so we offered to show two great neck park cards and three school ids. even though the id’s were clearly from great neck, the worker did not accept them. it was clear that we were from Nassau county, but they still didn’t let us in. we just wanted to eat our snacks by the grass but i guess not. the man did not stop there. he criticized the driver’s actions even though he had nothing to do with it. he repeatedly said that she was in the wrong for dropping us off, even though she provided sufficient proof that we were all from great neck. I am not happy with the way we were treated, and were eventually forced to go home, wasting a 30 minute drive. my friends and i could not believe the disrespect, and the two workers even went on to insult our “suspicious behavior” after we agreed to leave the premises. what suspicious behavior? please let me know. all we did was try to show them our cards and go enjoy a picnic. they decided to point out that it was about to rain and that it’s weird we would come, but the park was open so what’s the problem???? they need to mind their business and open their eyes before assuming someone’s lying. just because the driver moved houses and didn’t change their license address doesn’t mean the three other people in the car don’t live in the required county. i am very disappointed and will not be returning here. I wish i knew the man’s name but all i remember was that he was around 50 years old, and pretty short. unbelievable.
It is the only beach where there are almost no tides. The best beach for swimming(THE BEST), but there are stones but after halfway its clear. If you go after 5 the parking is free, but park closes at 8. Overall, its a beach for swimming.
Its so nice but I like Jones Beach better
Nice place to enjoy the open spaces and the beach is great for the hot days
Great playground for my 21 month old. Only complaint is theres little shade, make sure to bring sunblock.
Great local beach near Port Washington. Great services, ample parking, free BBQs and shaded are. Great for families
Nice shoreline trail, Osprey nests, beach, picnic areas. Very relaxing.
Took a stroll with Klaudia, the baby, and Harry. We had fun. Its a nice beach but apparently if you swim there you will get sick, but bicycling is allowed there. Very nice place to hang, but snack bars are closed due to Covid.
Do not come here if your are not a resident from North Hempstead. Social distancing limited capacity and you wont find out until you are here. Drove an hour to find out I needed to check out another beach. Other than that the bathrooms are nice.
Everything you need, bbq grills, basketball courts, handball courts, volleyball courts, and playgrounds. When it gets too hot or after you work up a sweat theres a beach to swim. Kicker is if you dont come early, youll be cooking in the sun with no picnic bench, savages take all the good spots by 7-8am. Parking fees non-residents $20.
Enjoyed our drive-in movie experience. Very nice atmosphere.
I went a few years ago and it was really fun we had a barbecue and there is a beach right near the park.Would’ve been better if they cleaned the beach since it had lots of garbage like bottles candy wrappers etc.Overall I think it is nice
Beautiful place to walk or exercise by the water.
Nice beach and easy to get to. But not much waves so the water and sand can get dirty.
Let me advice you they are just letting you come in if you are Nassau County resident like if they weren’t part of NYC I showed them my NY license and they treated me so disrespectful!!! even didn’t explain me why because it is supposed to be a public park the guy just said hey you have to turn here and go back we’re you come from
Great park for family events, you have everything there bbq grills, basketball courts, handball courts, volleyball courts, and playgrounds. The water is not that clean other than that staff was really nice too!
A great place where you can easily spend a day with your family, having bbq, celebrating a birthday, even playing some basketball or just having a little walk near by the water.
Great spot to walk my dog and launch my boat
Located in the North Shore, this is a hidden gem in NY. Its a nice beach to escape the hustle and bustle of the average NYC beach.
Nice little beach so close to town..... where dogs are allowed
Due to COVID-19 this park is only open to residents of North Hempstead. Hope to see it next year.
Nice place to visit small but fun
Nice place for a big group of friends to hangout. Parking are available. Rest room are clean. Voley ball net are available.
Great park/beach its a little run down due to the fact the town is planning on renovating it in the near future. But they havent stopped maintaining it. The sand is very nice for a north shore beach. They also have a great paddleboarding/Kayaking rental company there on the weekends @KostslPaddle.
Love this beach. Must be a town of Hempstead resident
There are a lot of different facilities at this park: Volleyball nets on the sand, basketball courts, tennis courts, multiple playgrounds. The water is great because its steady and there are no waves so its safer for kids. Also, dogs are allowed! Really great park overall. Very fun spot for family, especially during summer time.
Peaceful clean & bathrooms are open.
Simple beach. The sand is pretty mediocre. The water? Its at the end of Manhasset Bay after all the boats and industry have had a chance to dump in it. Im not saying youll mutate after swimming but count your digits afterwards. I like it because its close by and the kids enjoy the playground and the sand. Facilities are clean and area is safe.
Nice but rocky! Bring water shoes!
Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics Sponsored by Chris Dritsas at Phillips General Insurance of Port Washington. The event raised over $50,000
Its a beautiful place and safety love it
Nice place to unwind.
Amazing park and clean family beach. Dogs are welcome too.
Water was nice but the concessions are closed.
Nice beach, awesome greek festival in September and dogs are allowed!
Beautiful park! I was there for the Chilean independence festival.
Free parking, Nice fishing pier.
Beautiful beach, park, and promenade!
It’s clean and quiet.
Nice place for chill
Quite and nice. Beach is very rocky
Nice to walk along the sound, take your dog with you
I love the sunset over there, it really can make me feel relax and peaceful. Also, the sea is clean at all.
Nice area. Swimming seems in protected closed area. Not swim there. Hopefully another time.
Awesome greek festival here each year.
Great place to walk. It has many picnic area and pavilions for events. The beach looks good too with a swimming area.
Family Oriented park/beach
Residence only. You can’t get in even paying. Unfriendly. The guard is super rude. There’s no need to yield at people who doesn’t know the rules.
Rundown. Could be beautiful if TONH took care of it. Currently areas that are even dangerous. Needs TLC. Nice renovation of baseball field.
Very romantic and peaceful place to relax with your loved ones, and enjoy the natural environment
Boat ramp here is much better than Manorhaven ramp on other side of Port Washington. Ramp is hidden way in the back but still deep enough and reliable at low tide.
Great Park!! Lovely.
Pretty dull experience for fishing not that many fish pier needs repair!
A Beautiful ️ Night...
Very nice park to walk safe and quiet
Everything is nice and clean. The people who works there is very nice. Very good place
There are beautiful beaches and parks.
Wonderful beach
Great spot not well known, so you wont be dealing with any big crowds unless there is an event going on in the park. There is a company there that you can rent paddle boards or kayaks at a low price called Kostal Paddle.
Tons of dead geese and really dirty bathrooms ...used to be nice here not sure what happened
Plenty of trees and grass for those who dont like the sand.
Very clean n nice!! Great park with lots of stuff to do
They will check your license, you have to be from north homestead...
Great local beach if you dont want to drive to Jones Beach
Loved the view. Beach ok just too much rocks. Bbq area excellent. Parking $20 for nonresidents
Low key, and very relaxing place. Not a lot of people. Clean facilities.
If I could rate this 0 stars I would!!! DO NOT EVER COME HERR. First of all, it charges everyone $15 just for entry (it’s less at other parks! Even national parks) and you get paraded by a golf cart that watches your every move. My advice, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!!!!!!! It’s not worth it to get a mouthy golf cart driver, making minimum wage, to ride behind your every move!!!!!
Judi Bosworth should come by and take a look at the south side of this beach. I been fishing this beach for years and always come with a garbage bag to clean up the area where I fish. I do not come here often. This year I come by to see they installed and repaired the fence. Which blocks access to the beach. Its is a disgrace to see the amount of garaged which lined this beach. There is no reason for this to happen. The town should uses there resources to clean this area. Judi if you do not have the funds we a fisherman should have the right to clean the beach for you and in return this area should have full assess to it. It is also a dam shame to the schools that uses this area and not see this on a daily basis and do something about this. Please reach out to the users groups or town employees to clean the beach. Or me?
The place has shaidy grass, music and children playground but the water didnt look clean, color was dark brown/sandy.
Came here for a bbq. Great time, beautiful park and beach
Great park, not that busy, bbq places. Beach has small stones so having a water shoe is a must. Parking 10$.The worst snack bar Ive ever seen.
Very good day today! Weather hot; under these beautiful trees are the breathe of air with peace!
It’s an ok place but to pay to get inside is not worth it.
It was a nice place and it has a lot of fun things to do. The only downside I could think of is the ocean has way to many rocks.
Nice beach and park that allows dogs which is great. I dont think dogs are allowed on the sand but at least they can be in the park.
Beautiful
Very quiet place for picnic. Clean. Playground for kids. I like this place...
Great place, great view it is close to the city
Could be cleaned a bit more, but the beach is generally pretty good. Nice place to hang out as long as you dont mind occasionally getting run over by a passing group of rowers.
Had the worst experience of my life in this park with a young boy the was working in the. Second booth.didnt know his name didnt have a nametags didnt have manner didnt have kindness didnt have principle behind didnt have no respect for his olders & or costumes.i ALWAYS expended my summer in this park with my family and ones, but had a very nasty and arrogant attitude from this young fella on memorial weekend.some lady with dark glases blue shorts came just to be part of the show this young arrogant nasty rude boy the finished by saying I BEEN HERE SINCE 10AM AND ITS TOO HOT IN HERE AND NONE OF THIS PENS EVEN WORK nasty attitude (didnt ever gave me a copy of my crédit card rcpt thats why dont have his name.....
I take my son here 2-4 times a year, very nice, beautiful, serene. When they have a big happening the traffic is crazy leaving the park other than that it is a great experience
Weve been here a couple of times. Its an okay place, definitely family-friendly. Theres not much in the way of waves, being the LI Sound. The water has a bit of seaweed every time weve been, and the sand is gravelly. Thats par for the course for the North Shore, but half the views are industrial, which definitely is a bit of an eyesore. However, these are balanced out by ease of approach, clean shower/restroom facilities, shaded picnic spots nearly, and a family-oriented crowd.Residents of Town of North Hempstead can pay $12 by using a credit card, $15 cash (yep, thats not a typo, its great someone got this right). Non-residents are a bit more.
Beach was very clean & not crowded!!!
Get in b 4 9am or after 5 pm and there is no boat ramp / parking fee. Nice quiet spot on the water with park like settings. Cool spot for a fam picnic
In all honesty there are much better beaches on Long Island as far as waves, beautiful stretches of sand, concessions, nice water Etc but this is the beach closest to where Im living right now and I have always had a good time there . Refreshing swims, friendly people, the water has been clean and refreshing( not beautiful bluish see-through water) and there are lots of rocks in the sand pretty far into the water...but thats how North Shore Beaches are ( from what Ive seen and been told Im only here 5 years ). Another big plus is in the summer months there are often carnivals on the same properties as the beach so you can make a whole great day and night at North Hemp Beach .
Its a very clean beach and will definitely go agian
Theres plenty of parking and there are shaded picnic areas. But the water stinks.
A great place to enjoy sunshine and beach.
