The Plantation Historical Society again did a great job mounting and showcasing a comprehensive exhibit of a momentous period in US and world history in a way that a hundred years later we can relate to in a very human and visceral way. This World War I exhibit encompasses all aspects of life, not only in the trenches, but what was happening on the home front. Most if not all the many great items are on loan from locals. This is a must-see for all history buffs. As other visitors have also noted, the volunteer staff are the very best hosts, friendly and knowledgeable.
The museum is small but beautiful. Today we visited their Christmas trees display. The children and I had a great time and will go back again. If you are in the area we highly recommend.
Very nice Christmas tree display. A wonderful volunteer to explain things to you. A library in the front building and park with small play ground behind it.
The displays here are always well done and enjoyable. They take time to pay attention to detail. Always welcoming to visitors. I recommend checking them out. The hours are limited so make sure to verify times before traveling to the location.
I used to live in plantation, it’s more quiet than Miami (more of the city) and I was always looking for anything to do. This place may look small but it’s entertaining, and it’s around a park to also enjoy!
Great place to visit. This time of year is Christmas theme. Is a must see.
Love the Christmas tree display. You have to see the classic fire truck!
The historical museum had its humble beginnings in a back room of city hall. In 1985 the museum opened behind the library in the Plantation Botanical Gardens. The museum contains an annex dedicated to the history of the Plantation fire department.Permanent displays in the museum include exhibits on the Tequesta and Seminole Indians, fire and police department memorabilia, an Everglades diorama, and information about the towns founding families. The museum also hosts temporary exhibits. The current one, America in the 1960s will be on display until October 5, 2019. The museum hosts many events and speakers throughout the year. A complete schedule can be found on the museums website. Admission to the museum is free.
Very nice train exhibit but theres nothing kids can touch, i went because fortlauderdale on the cheap suggested it for my activities, but it is not a place for children who want to feel, touch, smell and just be kids. People was nice but my toddler got bored after 7 min of seeing and not being able to touch anything but the floor.
My hideaway been a known history place in my for over 20 years a hidden gem....
Very quaint, sixties was the theme. Sat in on a live band performance! Good time!
For a free museum it’s not bad...but literally only takes twenty minutes if that to walk through. A lot of reading. Wouldn’t suggest it for kids. It was interesting, however just a bunch of historic events put in display cases.
Wonderful place to visit on the holidays. Christmas trees decorated by a variety of people and clubs. Villages, miniature houses, movie scenes and so much more. Also excellent all year for historic facts.
Nice place, the Christmas decorations were very impressive. Great to learn about the history of the area. They seem to change out the displays often enough. Will be returning.
Nice little local museum. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Super great with the kids. Always a fun special event going on, from pirates to trains and more. They even have a full size fire Truck in the middle of it all!! Best part is its all FREE
Thus place was great! Its not big and impersonal. Its a very homey feeling with a friendly and informative staff. I was a history major and Im a history buff. I went to see their WWI exhibit. I learned at least three things about that war that I never knew from their exhibit. The US had code talkers just like WWII. Never knew that. The museum is free but they have a donation box if you care to give a little. Beside the feature exhibit there are others that are much more localized. A great place for kids and adults.
Anyone who grew up in the 60s should not miss this exhibit! Most enjoyable when the DJ is spinning our music.
Very good displays. Staff friendly and make sure you learn about the displays.
A great place to see and learn History of Plantation with displays and theme changing regularly. Always an awesome learning adventure with a great staff and volunteers. Come by and join the Historical Society.
Very nice place to come and learn about the beautiful city of Plantation. The staff is very friendly We enjoyed our visit very much

Small place. Good history of Plantation. Nice Christmas decorations.
Amazing museum..... Must visit once
The employees were very nice! They explain and give some additional information without us asking. They look like they love their job! It was a fun and learning experience to my 8 years old daughter. The giftshop has accesible prices :)
I went during the Christmas holidaysI really did enjoy the display of the Christmas trees. There were almost 50 different displays. Great!!!
Great, hidden gem.
Took me back to yesteryear, I would like to see information on Hanoi Jane, Jane Fonda and how she betrayed our pows
Local museum that is free of charge. It has wonderful exhibits of the Everglades, Seminole Indian villages, and the first fire engine of Plantation. Exhibits change every few months.
Amazing little museum! We were here when the trains were in and it was so great! Cant wait to go back!
The museum is a little small, but the little tiny detailed structures with the trains, and the dinosaur section and Seminole section, make it a blast for the whole family, ranging from ages 5 - 56.
Beautiful ppace to bring the kids!
The Fondation of Plantation A Must See of Exhibits A++++++
Bones of a dinosaur, a large railway, a fire truck, a collection of cars is a paradise for a child.Once I went with this museum together with my children and it was fascinating, but for a long time because the children were very curious.
I love this place. Nice to visit with the whole family, and always is free.

Great place for the family and kids, good historical spot.
This is a great place! Their exhibits are great and they have fun family events!
Love it. A 50s feel. Over 40 Christmas trees decorated.
Went to hear a Edna DeHass-Siniff speak about her experience from age 10-14yrs old when she lived on the Seminole Reservation when her parents were missionaries. She wrote a book call Living Seminole.
It is a small quaint museum that gives you a good feeling about history as soon as you walk through the doors.
