Had a wonderful time tonight with my son. We found it to be a great entertaining option, surrounded by warm friendly and talented people. Inside is a tad cool-so bring your favorite sweater or lap blanket just in case. We will definitely be back!!!
Obscure location, looks like this play house is transitioning from another location. Still looks like they have some work to do but the actresses were all pretty good. Considering what they are work with at the moment they all did a great job. Looking forward to seeing the theater completed.
My daughter performed in A Christmas Story and she loved it and wants to do another show!
The new place is unassuming on the outside, and a triumph of interior design on the inside. The shows are wonderful, though clearly done by a community theater. Overall, a worthy little underground theater in the industrial district
We saw a show over the holiday season. I had not ever been there before. What a cute/cool venue for a black box theater. The only drawback is that the bathrooms are down a very narrow hall, past the concession stand. Its sort of crowded before a show because there isnt much space to wait inside. If the weather is nice they have a huge lawn and patio to use while you wait.
Volunteering. Always a good time at the theatre.
Art Centre Theater Plano is a great place to watch some pretty cool community theater. I have enjoyed acting/ directing/ and sitting in the audience. It is a small intimate community theater located in Plano. I have met so many of my friends here and has been a positive experience in my life!
The theater as a whole could use an internal design makeover. However the play I attended was phenomenal. The cast of performed The Vagina Monologues that made me laugh and cry. Good play for a worthy cause.
This is real city theater!!! Opening night was awesome!! There were some real powerhouse singers and actors in this group of STARS!!!
This place was difficult to find. There were no signs and once inside the facility it was a bit dark.
Good quality shows as a reasonable price. Will go again.
Deep in the Heart of Tuna was awesome!
I performed in drama throughout college. My teenagers all performed in high school plays. The performances I have had to endure, due to attending only to support my mother in law, were dreadful. During each play the director made snide comments towards Christian beliefs and his cast wore pro feminist shirts which had everything to do with their beliefs and not the play. The Its a wonderful world performance was nothing more than a train wreck. The performers reflect the direction which should bring vomit from your mouth. Do NOT waste your time or money on any production he puts his name on.
A theatre that preaches it is ok to steal intellectual rights to shows and take money from the artists who actually have talent and wrote the works being produced. If you enjoy being verbally and emotionally abused without warrant and watching shows that are more painful than watching bad children’s theatre then please be my guest to make an appearance at the this theatre. You’ll be right at home. But the greater theatre community has been made aware of the illegal nature of how this theatre is run and unfortunately the people who are upset about the situation are actual professionals who have a say in how things are run here. All in all unless you would like to be conned and emotionally abused for free I would not make an appearance at this very unfortunate excuse of a theatre. :)
Saw The Vagina Monologues and it was amazing. Very small theater and the cast put on a really great show.
The Art Centre Theatre is an amazing treasure in Plano, Texas! I was able to find quite a variety of shows offered there, with shows for little ones, families, and ones with more mature material for adults. They offer workshops, camps, and community theater for all ages. I was very impressed with the lineup of teaching and directing talent that the theater offers, giving much credibility to their programs and offerings. The facility is well cared for, with a large lawn, several rooms for classes and a nice quaint theater. The creativity I have observed in several of the shows I have seen performed there is very impressive. They are able to do a lot with the size of the theater, as it offers a very up close and personal perspective and not a bad seat in the house! I recently saw The Sound of Music performed there, and the cast was extensive, very well-prepared, and delightful in their performances. I would highly recommend a visit to the Art Centre Theatre for both performers and performances...it is a jewel, keeping the arts engaged for all to enjoy!
Its fun and enjoyable..We came for the comedy show over there.. The guys did a wonderful job in organizing the place and arranging our visit.. Its not that expensive for a decent night..
So much fun! Great talent and entertainment. We will definitely visit again!
We always have such fun seeing plays and musicals here even though the production value is low. They work creatively with little budget and are very entertaining.
We enjoyed loves in the air!! Today was my daughters 16th bday and she loved the show!
Our home away from home. The best in theatre in a small community environment. Hidden amazing gems of talent!
I went there to see Heathers and it was amazing.Really recommended
A lovely little theatre that puts a hilarious twist on many Disney performances. You must give this place a try!
I acted in one of their shows and I will never support this theatre again. First they make actors sign a contract that if they drop out of the show for any reason the actor pays the theatre $100 ( this is community theatre none of the actors are paid. Hell we were lucky to even get a comp ticket or 2). Also as an actor you had to sell x amount of tickets or you paid for the tickets yourself. Spent my own money to buy toilet paper and concessions and was never going to get refunded. Not to mention they tell EVERYONE that you wont ever get a leading role outside of ACT.None of the shows rights are paid for. They basically watch YouTube bootleg copies and copy the dialogue by ear. Or do it from movies like The Shining without any rights to it.And the director of the place prioritizes HIS productions before everyone elses. Example I was in a production rehearsal for about a month and rehearsed in a small cramped room with 8 other people. A week before show we had never been on stage but the main directors production which had just been cast that week was rehearsing on stage in our place. This place is ridiculous. I wouldnt waste your money on their sloppy productions either since they are constantly replacing people who up and leave or get kicked out for asking questions concerning saftey of the actors.
Cute black box but better concept. For the price of the shows, you get what you pay for in entertainment, but $15 for community theater is worth the night out.Kids tried being extras in show, and that was worth our time. Joining a class, or show has been frustrating, given we were invited to the potluck, but even though our check was cashed, no scripts, or schedule issued after initial class until a parent off the cuff mentioned we missed the first session. Hope the holidays go better.
Really cute place, its a bit cramped and the audience was a bit loud for a musical. But it was fun. The production was great
Saw Spam a lot and it was fabulous
Nice staff... New construction
This is such a fun place. If you havent been I urge you to go. You wont regret it.
4 years ago. Remember no details.
Not the best seating, but they do good shows with adult and kid shows.
The Xmas Murder Mystery was a great fun play. We even got to participate and win gifts! Wonderful entertainment.
Its a small venue. However atmosphere was pleasant.
Saw Its a Wonderful Life.Awesome show, laughed heartily.Great cast, especially for a community theatre.Definitely going again.
The show was really good but it was very hot inside and we left early. Would have definitely stayed for the entire performance if it had been air conditioned...
Small venue with big talent. Ive seen two shows here and both were wonderful. I cant believe they get so much mileage out of such a small stage. The sets are unbelievable
Cannot speak for other productions or casts, but the folks we saw butchered the Rocky Horror Show. Characters missed cues and dropped lines throughout the entire show. Additionally, they went a little racist with their latino Rocky character (who somehow knew literally none of his lines). This was really sad to see because a couple of cast members were quite good and actually tried, but got weighed down by everyone else.
BEWARE OF HIDDEN COSTS ON TOP OF REGISTRATION!!!I registered my three girls for CATS starting this coming Monday (07/02/18) and paid in full. They sent me a long email AFTER I registered with an attached contract. This contract is asking me to sign up for additional fees and charges on added conditions. These conditions include 1) Parents are required to assist with Set Build & Strike Set or pay $100 for each effort (4 hours) & you can bring Beer. 2) Purchase Unitard and wig ($45) for each kid or wear your own costume. 3) If late picking up kids, pay $1/per minute (same as daycares). 4) Pay $1000.00 per kid, should any kid chooses not to attend one of more performances (total of 4).I spoke with executive director (Jamey Jamison) on the phone. He tried to tell me that I had agreed to all the rules/fees when I registered. Then he proceeded to tell me he believed this camp to be very inexpensive based on the hours referring to it as Babysitting. I dont need anyone to Babysit my girls and do not believe this to be the intent of this form of ART. My girls are musically inclined and love to act. They dont mind performing in all 4 performances, but there is no way I am signing a contract to pay $1000 per child. I dont agree with adults drinking beer while setting up sets around children. My children used to attend PFAMILY and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was worth every penny. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find another place as good as PFAMILY. At this point, I will be disputing the registration fee with my credit card based Non-Disclosure of Full Contract.
Really, really loved James and the giant peach. Maria was hilarious in her multiple roles. Pau was adorably pathetic as the blind worm used for seagull bait. April rocked the spider suit and the accent.I loved the energy and sublety the axtors brought to all the characters. It is great fun, and a fine and inexpensive treat to watch Roald Dahl play out in a cool dark, intimate theater on a hot summers day.
Great place for kids theater!
A fun little theater with a great show and a talented cast.
Small stage, good for theatre, but no AC - all seats were full and it got hot in the room.
What a wonderful hidden gem. We were recently invited to a play, Beauty and the Beast, and we were impressed by the enthusiasm all of the kids had for performing and just how well they preformed.
I love local theater. This place is a little annoying though. We caught a production of The Addams Family and even though we had purchased tickets early, our seats were really bad for this play which had much of it played upstairs. It might have been a good play but one couldnt hear most of the dialog. They make up the seat numbers to suit their mood. Also, I wanted to buy a t-shirt to support them but when I went to play for it with my debit card, the 10.00 t- shirt was t have a 3 dollar charge for using the card. I respect the need for theater but this place needs to look at a lot of its practices. Regardless, I support them.
My daughter has been in many productions at this theatre and it has always been a great experience. Shes learned everything from acting, dancing, set build, costumes, lighting and music. Jamie takes the time to teach each student making each performance better and better.
I love it here, and I will continue coming and contributeing to shows as long as I can.
Great little theatre where every seat is almost in the action! A very fun place!
I went to see the Princess Bride in September. This story is difficult to translate into a play, but I thought that it was worth a shot to see what they did with it. I was extremely disappointed. It was a disservice to theatre and to the play. Many of the actors were directed to play dumb, and were upstaging the plot with cheap jokes and remarks through out the play. I will never go to this theatre again. It should be an art, and they made it into a joke. I know this story is a comedy, but it lacked balance because they didnt even take the romance or drama seriously. I am sorry for anyone whos never been exposed to true theatre.
My theatre home!! So much fun doing shows here. The people are great and the experience of being on stage is magical!
Great little place. Small, but impressive!
The Staff was quite friendly and the facility clean. Everyone was all smiles and seemeed genuinely pleased to help us. My daughter has a fantastic time at the Wizard of Oz. They have an extensive, year round program that seems to have something for the entire family. The atmosphere was very celebratory and families were talking and chatting outside and in the hallways. There is a lovely spacious lawn and seating area to snack in before and after the show. Overall a much better experience than we have had at other local childrens theatres. This theatre is a community based program, but seems to cater to a younger audience and crownd. They do Rocky Horror show every year and do have adult themed shows as well. Tucked behind the tollway and GB they are not easily found - but if you take the time to look them up you will have a blast!
Great theatre. Nice spot, good parking. Great productions
Very cool little theatre - much fun every time w/o fail. Strongly suggest you check it out - I can personally guarantee you a great time;-)
The play was great. Good acting and a great narrator.
Lovely hole on the wall that should have much credit.
Ample parking such a small but quaint venue. I loved the location as well. Great performance #intheheights #dallastx #repnyc
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR CAMPS!! I signed my children up for a camp at their off-site Allen location. The day of the camp, after we were already on our way and past the start time of the camp, the director, Jamey Jamison, called me to tell me that they had cancelled the camp. Not only did they cancel the camp without any notice, but it has been two weeks, and I am still fighting to get a $535 refund from them for the camp they never held. His email said the delay was that their accountant only comes on Fridays. When I called on Friday, the employee who answered told me that they do not, to her knowledge, have an accountant who comes in on Fridays and that Jamey handles everything. I cant believe that Ive had to contact my attorney to try to get a refund for a camp that was never held.
Small haphazard theatre. Not much attention to detail, i.e., lighting, but they do some great productions and the acting is usually very good.
The place was fine. Its off the beaten path in a residential area.
I watched the heathers ahhh it was amazing!
Fun old theater to support friends and family that are performing.
WONDERFUL SO COOL HAD A BLAST
Always enjoy their performances- good goldstar place
The art center theatre is like a second home to our family. It is a warm and welcoming studio that is great for beginners.
Excellent talent! Very entertaining.
Small venue with a lot of heart!
Nice community theater. Intimate seating.
Small little theatre, but very entertaining
