The new mall location is well thought out! My wife and I had a great time at Scarehouse this year. I really appreciated the attention to detail and skillful adherence to COVID safety guidelines. I felt safe but was also terrified. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
ScareHouse is so much fun! The new location is a huge upgrade with a bigger space, tons of parking, and an indoor queue line. The set design is fantastic and there are great scares hiding around every corner. Theyre also taking several precautions this year to make sure everyone is safe which I really appreciate. Be sure to check it out!
My sister and I went through last night and we had such an amazing time there :) Its definitely one of my all time favorite haunted houses and will forever be a place to go to to celebrate Halloween. All the actors were fantastic and the set pieces were incredible; makes my black heart all giddy . I would HIGHLY recommend it!
I have always wanted to go here, for years! So I came in with some high expectations but was trying to lower them because I knew things would be different with Covid-19. Overall I absolutely loved it and felt like I got my moneys worth! Im giving it 4 starts because my boyfriend had gone with me and he was saying that he has seen a lot of the same scenes they had in other places, and it wasnt anything new to him.So if you like getting scared this would be the place to go, I just recommend going a night not that many people would go because I felt like they didnt give enough time in-between groups because there were a few times we stopped and stood there to let the group infront of get more space.
New location is tight, covid protocol in place, liked the old location better, still a great house though, location inside Pittsburgh mills by the food court entrance
Ive been a huge fan of ScareHouse from years past and this year just unfortunately wasnt it. They did have a lot of precautions in place but inside the haunt it was mostly animatronics and like a handful of actual haunters. the scenes & set up were great though and I appreciate the work that went into trying to make it happen this year.
Went tonight to celebrate Friday the 13th since this has been the year from hell. As always, it was scary and really made my night. I appreciated the COVID precautions, I definitely felt safe throughout the entire process. The sets inside were intricate as always, no detail was overlooked. I’m usually hard to scare, but they got me good several times. It was really nice to have something “normal” in all the chaos of this year. Actors found new ways to scare without jumping and yelling, which made them even creepier in my opinion. So glad they moved to the Mills. Better parking and closer to my house, which I appreciate, since I live an hour north of the city. Though it’s not like previous years, I’d recommend going to Scarehouse this year for your haunt fix. They’re even doing a Christmas themed haunt that I will definitely be visiting.
ScareHouse is awesome. Well crafted sets, professional make up, motivated actors giving their all so you can have a good time. Ive been to every show since fall 2015 and they never stop amazing me. Being open in 2020 is a big decision that many haunts have debated, and ScareHouse found a way. They have built a safe environment so crew and patrons alike can relish in the spirit of the season. Have a blast and watch your friends scream their heads off!
The ScareHouse is amazing! I’ve been going for years! I felt completely safe bringing the family during the pandemic. They take Covid seriously, as they should! Hats off to ScareHouse for giving us a great time!!! Would highly recommend!
I thought they did a wonderful job this year dealing with all the limitations of Covid. Their sets are amazing as always and I like the new location. It was actually bigger than I expected it to be. I think its where H&M used to be? So I didnt think it would feel that big but they made great use of the space.
Absolutely stunning sets as always, and we were amazed by the commitment of this entire team in still giving us scares, but in a socially distant, responsible way. We so appreciate your ability to provide such a great time even with the pandemic restrictions. Thank you!
So much fun! I was blown away with the themes, special effects and the actors/actresses. We are definitely coming back for round 2 for the creepy Christmas theme!
Props are good but there arent any actors. Its a joke. There are only 5 workers, and they are just there to make sure your mask is above your nose....I didnt see anymore than 5 actors checking mask. I guess the other 35 were out back smoking crack!
This year is a crazy year for everyone! Thankfully there are some places, like the ScareHouse, that make things feel somewhat normal!!! As a person who works in the medical field, I’m cautious about who and what I’m around. I was so excited and relieved to find out the ScareHouse was going to open this year and they are following a Covid Protocol. (FYI, this means they REALLY care about their employees and YOU the customer.) The spookiness feels a bit different this year (WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC!!!) however, it won’t disappoint you!! Just go in knowing it’s not going to be the same as previous years. Here are some of the things I think will help you prepare. Everyone has to wear masks and social distance. (Including the monsters... don’t worry, they’ll still make you jump and scream!) They had to take out the tight spaces or any objects that could touch you. However, they also aren’t combining groups, which I really like! It’s just you and your people on your own spooky adventure! Despite all of the changes, it’s still a 5 star worthy production!!
We were so happy to get to visit a haunted house this year. Not quite the same as years past but what is? Felt very safe inside
I have worked at Hundred Acres Manor for 6 years, and never walked through ScareHouse. I have to say this was one of the best experiences of my life! Set design, to sound effects, to fog, to the most creative and incredible ways they have incorporated Plexiglass to their actors and scares. I was blown away with the attention to detail, jump scare areas and the whole technical aspect of this haunt. Clearly they have put their heart and soul into this haunt, and it is one you do not wanna miss!!! Congrats actors and staff of ScareHouse, you pulled off an absolutely astounding experience that all NEED to see. I take my hat off to you, and hundred acres really has competition for Pittsburgh’s beat haunt. Love you guys!!!!
2020 was awful. 2019 was amazing! Do not go this year at the mills, it is not worth the money at all. I understand everything is different with Covid but there was maybe a total of 3 actors inside, the rest where just props and I was not scared at all.
Wow- highly recommend! Great for all ages! The sets are amazingly scary and so detailed. Got lost with the amount of fog, which personally, could always use more fog. It’s great what they have accomplished during these COVID times. I understand that there have been many negative reviews due to the lack of actors. But really what do you expect? They need to follow the CDC guidelines in place and keep not only their actors and staff safe, but the customers safe too! In my opinion they pulled this off so that people that enjoy haunts would still be able to experience it this year, even during a pandemic. You can tell a lot of thought and effort and hard work went into making their new location great. The animatronics are super cool and very realistic. Props to the whole team!!! The new location is great and it was worth every penny. Shout out to the bunny and clown, they make the wait very entertaining, scary and fun!
My friend and I went yesterday evening and we were both very disappointed. It wasnt scary at all. It has a lot of potential and definitely could be very scary if Covid wasnt an issue but its definitely not worth it this year. I highly recommend waiting until next year if Covid isnt an issue then. Great set up and visuals but could have been way better!! It only took us 12 minutes to get through it.
Love it! Been there twice for Halloween...Scarehouse and Basement both times. Once more for Basement when they did a Valentines show...very bizzare and amazing! Unfortunately I live in stupid Canada and borders closed so I won’t be there this year, unless a miracle happens lol
First and foremost thank you ScareHouse for taking Covid-19 seriously and creating a safe and fun Halloween experience this year. Happy to say the new location features the same elaborate scenes and committed actors that ScareHouse is known for. Also love the new parking situation (no more buses YAY!)
There was maybe 5 actors throughout the attraction. Everything else was sensored/fake objects; not as scary. They took good covid preventative measures, but was expecting better. Wouldnt waste the time or money to do it again. I went there 10/31/20. There was a long line, but nice being indoors and being able to use mall bathrooms.
I was so excited when I heard that the Scarehouse would be open this year with so many things being canceled. I was amazed at how well the staff was able to make this feel cool while keeping everyone safe at the same time. The actors, rooms and effects were top notch as always, I totallyforgot I was in a mall! well worth the visit!
Scarehouse absolutely knocked it out of the park this year! It’s awesome to be able to still have a critical piece of Halloween magic while being responsible during this time (COVID-19). Things are scaled back slightly but I’m happy the staff and crew are being smart and keeping patrons safe! Also love the move to the mills, parking is a dream.
If you can overlook a toned down version due to covid, then there is zero reason why you couldnt make the most out of Scarehouse 2020. Focus on having a good time while supporting a local business. Ignore the negative, self centered, opinions and just have a good time. We were open minded, went in expecting very little knowing the circumstances, and we still had a blast!!
Definitely the least scary haunted house I’ve ever been to. I understand the COVID precautions but it was not worth the money it costs for 2020. Do not recommend.
I usually dont leave reviews but I went to this place yesterday and it was possibly the worse haunted house Ive ever been too. Didnt get scared once. Barely any actors and the ones that were there had bad timing and no energy, mostly props, no mazes, no chainsaws. I think someone couldve made a better haunted house in their basement. It was like walking through a Halloween prop store. I dont know if this is what haunted houses have come to as I havent been to one in probably 10 years but that couldnt scare a 3 year old. Do yourself a favor and save your money. I want mine back.
Definitely scary, however could be longer, wouldve been worth every penny if it was longer. RIP tickets were definitely awesome and worth the money.
Scarehouse is most defiantly for a younger crowd. I was not scared at all. They said you only enter with your group but you eventually catch up to the group in front if you so it was really crowded . There was maybe 6 actors in the entire place, they didn’t even jump out to try and scare you. It was mainly props the whole time. I will not be coming back. The new location sucked too. Gave me the wrong directions in the mall.
Gorgeous sets, fun characters. I think mny of the people complaining about local haunted houses this year dont seem to understand that we are still in a pandemic. I was so happy to visit a haunted house in 2020
The haunted house at Pittsburgh Mills this year is NOT scary at all. They are extremely strict with masks which is ok, however do not let yours fall off your face or they will throw you out. My brother lost 80.00 two minutes into it when they removed him because the mask fell. NO fun aloud while standing in line, nio goofing off. THE PLACE SUCKS!
We are in a global pandemic. First of all applause for even being open right now. Second, 5 stars for being open WHILE keeping your employees and customers safe. I understand its not the same as Halloweens past, however taking into consideration the challenges everyone is facing right now, this was an incredible experience and I didnt feel unsafe once... scared however- many times!I love scarehouse!
It was scary and I love how you dont have to go in with anyone except the people youre there with!
Prepare yourself for the ultimate halloween experience...the scarehouse will have you @ times screaming, jumping in fear and looking for an exit! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a being frightened.
Scarehouse when in Etna was fantastic. The new location at Pittsburgh Mills, not so much. This new attraction was rushed, dark, loud, and lots of strobes, but not scary at all.
Our group liked it we definitely had a good time for it being the first year there we just wish it was a lil longer but definitely scary
There is a line outside and inside. Reservations was for 9pm. Will probably be in line until midnight. I feel like the scare house wasnt great when it was in enta pittsburgh area let alone way out pittsburgh mills. Tickets online were 24$ a piece. I guess the parking is definitely a plus. And being indoors isnt bad either. Covid really did a job on Halloween this year smh.The line is a longer wait doesnt matter the space. We got there at 830p and waited until 945p the walk through was 20min tops. I spent more time in line that driving to Pittsburgh mills and back home to the city. Now, the walk through was definitely great despite the actors cant really get close, but the scare house was good this year. Recommend getting r.i.p tickets. I did give them a 2 star, but after the walk through I bump it to a 4 star.
Due to covid Im sure it was a lot different than they planned originally. Over all there were hardly any real actors to pop out and give you a thrill. For #1 rated in the area covid or not I feel they dropped the ball. I left disappointed but still had a great time with friends and actually getting out during this time.
Do NOT GO HERE IN 2020!!! COVID MADE THIS HOUSE AWFUL. This was the biggest waste of money and I feel as though Scarehouse should have warned every participant that this went from “one of the greatest in America” to one of the least scary experiences I’ve ever ever had.
Paid for the RIP tickets almost $85. It took 20 minutes to get through. This hands down worst scare attraction I’ve been to. I will not be going back and wouldn’t recommend!
I have been going to the scare yearly for about 8 years of not more! I also do the basement when they have it to since they started it. This year was just horrible. I think the move maybe got to them and covid maybe. But we had time slots which we were told to arrive 30 minutes and we weren’t even allowed to get in line til are time slot okay I get. But waited in line for over a hour. There was NO social distancing!! Our time was for 930pm didn’t get to the front til about 1040 ish!! Then they left just are group in which is nice. But still other groups caught up. Literally counted there were less then 8 workers inside the haunted attraction. Even with mask there is a better way to do this! I feel they spent more money on the animatronics or fancy equipment then staff. I don’t know if I’ll even return unfortunately.
I have been coming to the scarehouse every year since 2011 and of course it was amazing as usual! i went last friday with my friend and he witnessed genuine horror from me. even though with covid restrictions i could tell that the cast and crew put so much heart and soul into this place. the set design is amazing and I definitely plan on returning.
Best haunted house ever. Worth every penny and lots of scares.
Do not recommend. Not scary at all and really not worth the money. could have been soooooo much better. Huge let down.
Way too foggy. Couldnt see ur hand in front of ur face. I mean you do go there to be scared but also to see the scenery and different rooms and costumes... but then again there wasnt alot of actors either. The only big scare was one big animatronic dragon head bc u really werent expecting it . Was really excited to see this, but was disappointed
I appreciate the work they put in and glad they made the experience as safe and fun as possible given covid restrictions. It made Halloween feel normal this year.
Scarehouse is a Pittsburgh staple for a reason! This is an ever evolving, ever growing business that understands what it takes to make a haunt special! Covid precautions and small pre scheduled tours make it the perfect Halloween season gathering for your closest 6! No photos of the haunt to share because that would give the hard work of these fine folks away! Book a time, WEAR YOUR MASKS, respect the rules, and have a blast! Officially the favorite haunt of the Queens Of NC-17!
First, I would just like to express my gratitude for the Cast and Crew of the ScareHouse for putting the safety of both their employees and their customers at top priority. Their ways of handling this pandemic are clearly organized and followed, strictly enforced, and in return, surely made me feel safe from the moment I entered the building to the moment I left. Kudos to keeping your heads strong in your beliefs on this (even through the haters and bad reviews) and thank you for caring about the community. It is truly impressive the type of show ScareHouse has produced through this crazy year we are living. Considering the fact that this is a brand new space, in a mall which Ive never seen done before, I have to applaud the challenge that was taken and the success that came out of it. The level of immersion is insane as production design through set pieces and props and sound completely transforms you from a nearly abandoned mall to a real-life horror movie. The attention to detail has always been a strength ScareHouse has over haunts in the area, this year continues to prove that. Each different haunt carries a unique atmosphere full of sensory overload, whether rooms that seem alive in darkness, special effects that take you to another dimension, or you literally find yourself saying your prayers in the middle of an apocalypse, ScareHouses show doesnt skip a beat in pace and flow. The new use of animatronics and special effects to fill some gaps for more COVID-friendly tighter scares is brilliant...and extremely effective!Ive seen reviews commenting on a lack of live actors and actresses and honestly Im confused. I could barely catch my breath, and neither could my boyfriend, from the talent that continued in each and every room, there was still an abundance of live talent through the show. The actors and actresses as well extended every once of energy into well-timed scares through triggered sounds, screams, jumps, etc. I was insanely impressed by their improvisation skills when I would seem to find myself interacting back with them (from a distance of course in a blubbering about to pee my pants scared mess.) Kudos to well-trained and excited cast this year. From a dancing bunny and clown duo in line, to friendly CSA workers, to a haunt that made me drop to the floor and loose my voice, talent that made me have nightmares that evening, COVID guidelines making me feel safe...ScareHouse continues to uphold their title of being a pretty darn awesome place filled with some awesome people. You dont want to miss this show. Thanks for keeping Halloween normal this year, I appreciate yinz. ️
2020 Very disappointed this year! Not very many actors. Last year was definitely better. Wish they wouldn’t have moved it. Wouldn’t recommend wasting your time.
Pretty lame but really great work appreciate the art and actors
Cant wait to see whats new for next yr...
Terrible. Stay away. Covid has ruined. I’m more afraid of my shadow. They should charge about 1/4th of what they do. We did the R.I.P. experience to NOT wait in any line because this is terrible and no one goes.
Scarehouse has pulled off the near impossible - keeping their audience and actors safe while still managing to scare the bejeezus out of you! Top notch!
The props were good, made it fun in bad times
Took my daughter and 3 of her friends on Saturday night. Was able to buy discounted R.I.P tickets at Costco for $24.99 (regularly $44) to skip the line and go in any night, regardless of availability. While deciding which haunted house to go to, the discount tickets played apart in the decision as well as their covid policies. They offer private group entrance only and have everyone use hand sanitizer before entering.Ive been to scarehouse in previous years at their old location and have always enjoyed their house the most. While this year didnt have as many actors due to covid, it still offered great scares and the girls loved it, and didnt really notice any difference. They enjoyed taking pictures with the clown in line before entering. All in all, the experience from entering the mills mall and standing in line, through the house and afterward was very streamlined and felt very safe as masks were required the entire time and seemed to be enforced diligently.I wasnt sure how haunted houses could be done in a safe and clean manner this year, but scarehouse is definitely pulling it off.
The workers were rude. It wasn’t scary. Second time I’ve been here figured I’d give it another shot. Not worth it nor going again.
Going above and beyond to create a pandemic appropriate haunt experience for the 2020 season. Heres hoping they can get back to a regular build for next season!
Very Upsetting this year due to Covid-19. Shouldn’t have charged as much money or at least gave participants A Halloween surprise ..T-Shirt, Candy, Some Alternative would of been nice..
Not even a little bit scary. But dont worry they followed covid guidelines!
This was the biggest disappointment & one of the worst haunted houses i have ever been to. nothing went together, the actors had no energy. if i wanted to go to a museum i would have went. if i could leave i negative star, i would have. don’t waste your money, or the drive. very disappointed!!
As a haunt enthusiast and makeup artist for multiple haunts this haunt is the most lamest. Its like walking through a Spirit Halloween in the dark. The actual actors were way off time and some of them just stood there. All in all a five year old could make a better haunt in there driveway. Definately not worth the money nor the travel. Definate negative 4 rating.
Was expecting it to be way more scary from what Ive heard and advertisements. I dont think it was worth the $84 we paid for 2 R.I.P. passes. Would be worth it paying general admission but you have to buy in advance and wait in a long line.
It was great fun. I missed the claustrophobic spaces and in-your-face scares they have been known for, but the sets and costumes are beautiful and the creative way they handled social distancing was impressive. Once you’re in the haunt, the PPE is camouflaged and incorporated into the costumes. The actors were on point with scares. I went the second week, so maybe they were adjusting and getting their groove back the first week? I’m going back later in the season to see how it evolves. I appreciated their consideration for my safety and the obvious effort made to provide some semblance of normalcy for Halloween lovers. I can only assume the complaints and 1 ️ Reviews were posted by plague rats who aren’t concerned with their health or the health of others.
The monsters and animatronics were awesome! However the line was very congested and groups were clashing inside.
I would rather be playing competitive on overwatch.
Felt rushed to go through. Couldnt get scared because people in front so slow and people behind so close. You could see everything before it happened. Sad not like etna location was.
Boring, only thing that scared me was how much was spent. The props were dusty and dry. There was more staff outside watching the lines then inside. The staff inside half had a little paint and that was about it. It was fast pace but not in a good way. Trying to use cheap tricks like smoke and strobe lights only gave me a headache adding to my annoyance. Overall waste of time and money.
Myself and 3 others went on Saturday night to the 11:30 time slot- last one available. We bought out tickets earlier in the week and thank god we did because they sold out quickly. I was told between 8pm&10pm are their busiest time so we lucked out. We waited in line until about 12:15/12:30ish. About an hour-ish waits kind of what you’d expect at a haunted place. Not very scary though, was kind of disappointed. I understand completely with covid they aren’t able to do as much as they usually do, so that’s why i am giving it 3 stars. The actors really weren’t trying to scare people they just kind of say there or stood there. Waiting lines and actually walk through aren’t social distanced very well. People behind us in line were literally on top of us and the same people were walking in the haunted place behind us didn’t keep their distance until I said something to them.
I was blown away by the haunt this year! Especially when you consider that it had to be completely reimagined and built in a new location. I appreciate the care that went into the logistical planning to ensure that your customers were able to enjoy a safe experience. I bought my tickets the minute they went on sale. I had no idea how you all would pull this off but if there is anything Scarehouse has proven over their history is their ability to adapt and entertain. You all knocked it out of the park! I don’t want to spoil anything for others but the level of detail that you all poured into every different set piece was breathtaking. It was obvious as well the tremendous amount of thought that went into alternate ways to scare your guests. Thank you to the Scarehouse team for your Covid protocols and providing a safe and entertaining haunt! I will be back again. Way too much to enjoy in one visit.
I have gone the last 4 years and this place is awesome. I see alot of people complaining and its not their fault they have to follow all the regulations. My friends and i are going tonight and if its not as good so what im sure itll be even better next year when we are back to normal. I fully support scarehouse ! You guys are awesome !
I had very low expectations due to all the bad reviews on Facebook. I saw people were waiting hrs to go in and that it just wasnt any good. I should have known Scarehouse couldnt build a bad haunted house. Yes they had to rely on their decorations and props due to covid but they were both done well. The few monsters I saw were good too. I did miss the interaction but they couldnt help that. Also the wait time was less than 10 mins to get into the haunted house. Overall Im glad I went and would recommend anyone to go check it out.
I never leave reviews buh i’m telling you ... DONT COME HERE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME .. it was absolutely disappointing and it’s overhyped . it wasn’t scary at all . literally the worst haunted house i ever been to . i get scared so easily and didn’t get scared once .. IM SOOOO SERIOUS .. it was terrible !
This was not scary at all. They followed covid rules and spaced us well so i was very surprised that nobody was popping out at us, considering we weren’t following anyone closely. I was bored the whole time. It was only about a ten minute walkthrough and maybe three people attempted to scare us. I am more scared walking through a spirit Halloween store. Highly disappointed!
I thought it would of been alot better! But with covit 19 idk. So will give it another shot after covit.
What a waste of money i purchased these RIP tickets for my son an his friend for his birthday. The drive took us longer then the 20min it them to walk threw. They actors had no enthusiasm an there was no noise being made as they were walking threw. I feel they should return everyones money. They should have said if we can not give our customers the right experience then we will not have it this year.Other places social distancedWe go all over for halloween attraction Zombies of the Corn in such a great deal an a scare factor plus fun for ALL AGES. so is13 floors of terror, Cheeseman Fright Farm, Freddys Haunts are some places we have been in the past so this year we have been agian to Zoobies of the Corn an Cheesman Fright Farm, so if they can social distance an still give a fightening scare why cant scarehouse. Dont waist your time an money.
Very nicely themed. It was not the scariest house I have been in, but it was still very fun.
Just a bunch of flashing lights and noise. Absolutely terrible. Dont waste your money!!!
Horrible experience. Waited in line over 2 hours and definitely wasnt worth all they hype
There was ten actors at most and only a twenty minute walk through.. a waste of time to me.
I know with covid some things had to be changed but it wasnt scary at all and not worth the admission price. Not many actors either.
I can only imagine the type of experience it is when its not covid season it was fn amazing
Worst haunted house I have ever been to! Sent way to much money for a walking in the dark.
I paid $20 for one ticket to spend 20 minutes in a top rated haunted house after driving 2 hours.
Would give it no stars if possible . First experience going there idk if it was because of covid but not worth 5 dollars let alone 25 . Mainly props that werent at all scary, few real people scaring you . And be sure to stay back from the group ahead of you or you wont enjoy the timed props . No chainsaws no scares rate it for ages 5 and under . Worst money I spent in 2020
Just a huge letdown and waste of money. Not even scary. Everything was animatronics and very few real actors. Very disappointing
Pretty spooky with a rave in the middle
Im reserving a better rating because I attended this in previous years and it was great. The main haunted house is awesome, but the basement for adults has gotten very mild compared to passed years. You sign a waiver for them to just basically cuss at you now instead of previous years when you were blind folded and electrocuted. Im not saying I want a near death experience, but they have toned it down a little to much. I will say though since they have had all of their moving issues this may have attributed. I love the scarehouse and hope this year will up my rating. Like I said, the main haunted house is 5 stars for sure, just hoping a tune up happens in the basement.
Very disappointed. Not scary at all. Hardly no actors in building. Waste of time and money. I go to haunted houses all around America and this was one of the lesser ones I’ve been to.
It was okay. But if you have asthma dont go.
Don’t go unless u wanna waste ur money(.) this haunted house was horrible and not scary
Amazing! people who dont like it are crazy
10/10 got that Pittsburgh aesthetic
Well I wouldn’t even give this place a star if I could. Wasn’t worth the price or the 3 hr drive up.
Very well thought out and interactive. Not as intense as anticipated but did not disappoint in the least.
Lame for grown us kids.
Feb 2020 The Basement was fantastic, as always. The mindf**k*ry was brutal. It feels like my inner demons all got together and planned a special night of psycho-spiritual torment. The actors are masters of picking up on whatever makes you squeamish. I came here to get away from myself, and I honestly feel so attacked right now. 10/10 highly recommend. Gotta try it at least once a life. Edit: I will say that it seems physically and visually milder than in previous years, but the weirdness is still there and probably even more so. Its the day after, and Im still processing what the hell happened
