We have done quite a few escape rooms and these are, beyond a doubt the best we’ve EVER encountered. So different than any others out there. Completely immersive and done to the last detail. We’ve done all three experiences and each one is better than the last. It’s definitely pricey but worth every penny!

The Imaginarium is nothing less than incredible. The moment you walk in you are transported to another world. The staff are in character and before you are even in the escape room itself you are solving puzzles. This escape room is very immersive and challenging in the best way. The puzzles are inventive and is more than a find a number painted on a wall and plug it into the combination lock. Some of the puzzles were finicky but in the end were great. With 7 people we finished the inventors paradox with 5 minutes to spare. Highly recommend.

Great expectations, met. Knowing of the affiliation with the spectacular Bricolage immersive theater group I was braced for full submergence in the Search for Leviathan, and submerged we were. Given the pandemic, our traditional Labor Day weekend family activities needed an update, and while it took me some time to get comfortable with the idea of an escape room, and attendant risks, Im glad we did it. Their attention to safety precautions was reassuring. Sets and puzzles were great! Im not sure I pieced together a coherent back story, but it seemed likely that there was one -- perhaps I missed a pre-game briefing, or in my enthusiasm to divide and conquer didnt read some set materials that wouldve helped. Looking forward to trying their other puzzles!

This is quite a good escape room, especially for experienced players. There are several rooms in the game we played and I would expect every game is like that. They did a good job keeping in character from the moment you check in until you leave. The puzzles were good and interesting though we found a couple were easy enough to brute force. Very imaginative storyline as well for ours. I would go again and try all their rooms.

Im sure they are good when there isnt a crisis going on but durning a crisis you would expect them to be a decent human. I lost my job, I have no money coming in, unemployment is backed up. I need this money to live and help pay bills, but they are refusing to give a refund. I wouldnt care but it was $200+ I spent, which could help me out. So beware everyone they will only think about themselves in an emergency.

Enter the Imaginarium was an awesome experience for an escape room. Our party completed The Search for Leviathan and we had a blast. The puzzles were well done and plentiful. The Room had a linear feel, however many different puzzles could be worked on at the same time, so everyone had something to work on. The theme and design of the rooms were top notch and very detailed. Out of all the escape rooms Ive completed, this was by far the most immersive and well done. I look forward to going back and trying the other 2 rooms in the near future.

This place was so great. I was looking for a team outing, and they were incredibly accommodating to our request for an earlier start time. Their staff was willing to come in earlier than usual to make our schedule work. The production of the Escape Room was top notch. Compared to others I had been to, every little detail was thought through and made it a really immersive experience. I would highly recommend for families and team building exercises. Being able to escape one room to find yourself immediately trapped in another room was so great.

Really great experience! The worker/actress in charge of guiding us on our missions was very good and kept in character the entire time. We completed Chamber of Illusions, and it was so good that we signed up for Search for Leviathan immediately after! These are truly immersive, and you are entered into the escape as soon as you walk through the door. There are locks and keys like other escape rooms, but I felt like the puzzles are more clever and require more creative thinking to solve than other escape rooms. The puzzles are challenging, and our group of 4 was able to complete them with some hints. Highly, highly recommend this escape room company!

By far one of the best escape room experiences in Pittsburgh. My friend and I have done a lot of escape rooms and these ones are amazing. We are more experienced players so we like to do the rooms just the two of us. We have done all three escape rooms the Imaginarium offers and we have escaped all three. So they are 100% doable for anyone, but definitely not easy. The game masters keep character very well and it adds to the overall experience. They completely immerse you into the story and i enjoy how large the rooms are and the puzzles in each are very different and very interesting. They definitely put some thought into creating these escape rooms and giving their players the best experience. Am looking forward to seeing if they come up with any new ideas because we will definitely be back to do them!

Had the same exact experience as a previous the reviewer, Rob Richardson. His review sits a little further back, but he hits the nail on the head with everything. In my experience, the most frustrating part was that the morse code machine was not working correctly even though we knew the correct answer. There was also another puzzle in the same exact room that we had found the code for but once we were plugging in the code to open the other door, it wasnt working. We asked for help numerous of times and the gamemaster kept giving the same exact clue for the correct code we were already plugging in. I believe that some of there equipment was faulty, or at least was when we went around a yr ago.Rob also hit the nail on the head when he said that its frustrating that they dont tell you the answers at the end or what you were doing wrong. They do this because they want you to come back and try it again but nobody does that. In fact, because of this, it makes me want to come back less. The staff still staying in character even when you dont escape at the end is just plain frustrating.Lastly, we gave this place the benefit of the doubt the first time with the Inventors Paradox room, that we came back another time to try another room, and we escaped that room with about 20 minutes to spare because we made it out on accident, making our win not feel like an actual win. There was still a whole other room within the second one that we tried that we didnt even open the door to, but somehow accidentally escaped before we even made it to the end of the puzzle.I wanted to like this place so bad but after two bad experiences there, I dont think we will be coming back.

By far the most fun and most immersive escape room I have seen. We absolutely loved the Chamber of Illusion. From the moment you step in the door you are in the game and we all loved that. I went with my family and my best friends family for a private event so we had a wide range of ages. We definitely needed the entire group of ten, everyone was constantly doing something to help with a puzzle. The puzzles are very challenging and they know exactly how to help you just enough when you get stuck. I think it was the perfect level of difficulty because we escaped with just enough time to spare.FYI the parking lot was a little confusing to get around because from where the sign to enter is, you have to go around to the other side of the fence to pull in and park by the front door.

They have very detailed rooms. However I didn’t like how if there is another team doing the other escape room you can clearly hear them so it made it confusing when you are trying to do your escape room and FOCUS and I didn’t like when we didn’t escape we was not shown how to get out or how many steps away from getting out we were. Ro
Review №71

Went here after playing several other local escape rooms. The Imaginarium tries to present itself as an experience, and to be honest, does a well enough job at projecting atmosphere, but hiding the waiver forms or rules is just wasting time. The Escape Room itself was: Inventors Paradox. Minor spoilers (such that they are) lay ahead. The theme was great, but Im 100% not a fan of escape rooms that present a so-called mystery to be solved (or not) in the time spent. Most puzzles I felt were quite good and different, but a few they served as simple time wasters rather than any real skill or thought (putting together a large puzzle with all parts present from the start of the room and navigating long hallways seperating the rooms comes to mind as time wasters.). One puzzle right at the start had a mechanic Im not sure how anyone would realize you could even guess to try let alone actually try due to the rule of thumb of No Brute Physical Force. It was quite neat to see in action, though! Our operator seemed a little too quick to give hints, but to be honest I dont care about that, especially because of the aforementioned puzzle above. The operator also seemed far, far too quick to correct mistakes rather than let you try and figure out why you were wrong. One bad a puzzle was a Morse code machine because of course there is. (1 star off just for that insanely unoriginal puzzle) In particular, this machine just keep confusing one letter entered for another consistently. We knew the word, we knew how to enter it, the machine just wasted our time. We wasted about 5-7 minutes trying to do this one bloody simple-minded task. This was bad enough, but the operator, having already acknowledged that we got the correct word instead explain, slowly and piecemeal, to a group of experienced Escape Room patreons what Morse Code was and how a dash was longer than a dot, etc, etc.By the time we finally got the machine to register the word we barely had any time left to explore the final(?) room and that left me feeling incredibly bitter and killed any fun I had with the rest of the room. Maybe we wouldnt have finished regardless, but thats hard to judge now and will serve as the #1 thing I remember about the entire experience. And, finally, one more star off for leaving the mystery hanging after a failed attempt. Repeat escape rooms cannot be any fun, so just tell your audience the rest of your story, jeez. It also serves as a way to demonstrate the interesting puzzles and mechanics the players did not get to experience! Any time that happens, Im just gonna assume there wasnt anything interesting and the rest was just a bunch of thoughtless tasks to waste players time.Anyway, tl;dr: I really wanted to like this particular Escape Room, the theme was fun, the atmosphere was fantastic, what I knew of the story was exactly my kind of thing, but a few conceptual and mechanical problems completely ruined the experience.

I have done roughly 25 escape rooms in various states along the East Coast and Enter The Imaginarium is easily the best location so far. My friends and I were visiting Pittsburgh and decided to visit this place and try their Chamber of Illusions room. From the outside we were skeptical about the building and location but we were excited to do this immersive escape room. We were definitely in for a surprise. Without spoiling the surprises for others, the experience starts upon entering the building. Greeted by the game master, we were immediately impressed with their character. They do not break, at all, not once. This helped us get into game mode before entering the escape room. The entry is unique and creative, the production value of both rooms (we ended up coming back the next day to do the second one) was TOP NOTCH, and the puzzles were incredibly unique. After doing a large number of escape rooms you get a feel for the types of puzzles that are in there and can get an edge on solving them, oh no not with this place. Their puzzles were super creative and things I had never seen before. The first room we set the record time for (super happy about) the second room was a bit harder but we escaped and set the record time for the week. I eagerly await their next room so we can drive up to Pittsburgh and do it! Amazing balance of difficulty and immersive theme. If you are ever in the Pittsburgh area and looking for a fresh take on escape rooms: This. Is. The. Place!
