Fairways and greens were in good shape but I kid you not, they had grounds keepers working the fairways at noon on a Monday. One of the grounds keepers ran over my partners ball. Many times these grounds keepers were holding up our game AND they had the sprinklers going on one of the fairways. The course is great and challenging but it seems there’s some management issues.
Staff was helpful. Fairway are fast and the greens were slow. It was a hot day and only saw the drink cart once. Still a great course.
Had good experience. People helpful. Carts good shape. Good maintenance in sand traps.
Basically the fairways are burnt out. Greens ok but a bit salty too. Used to be a great course but not anymore. No bet cart person on a Friday... come on.
My husband, family, and I cannot say enough good things about the Foothills Golf Club! Where do I begin... Weddings in AZ are pricey, especially in March! We decided to go with the Foothills, and signed a contract with them a good 1.5 years in advance. As time passed, the event planner at the Foothills had quit so she could spend more time with her family (which is completely understandable) so they hired 2 new event planners. Even with the switch, our wedding ran so smoothly. Jessica and Kaitlin are incredible human beings!! We purchased and brought in a lot of our own decor, and Kaitlin and her team did a phenomenal job decorating the facility to our wants and needs, inside and out. It was better than we could have ever envisioned! My only con is that I do wish the Bridal room had natural lighting for pictures so we could have gotten ready there, but we did utilize it to hang out in as pictures were going on, and the staff brought in mimosas and food for my girls, and even brought the guys pitchers of beer and lunch before the wedding so we didnt starve. All staff was friendly, the bartenders are quick on their feet, and dinner was mouth watering. We cant thank the Foothills enough for creating such a magical evening. Thank you all!!! I would recommend the Foothills to any future brides out there!
Played last Saturday, just wanted to walk, still charged me for a cart. $68 to play a less than average course. This course is more of a $35 muni course with a cart.
My husband likes this course. I liked their food
Terrible experience! Bought a Groupon here that included range balls but they dont tell you that the range is closed until you get there. Didnt receive my member card even though the Groupon included this. Started late somehow even though our tee time was 6:16am due to their lack of organization. Staff was not helpful at all. Oh and they didnt have flags up until we got to the back 9 bc the the guy brought the keys home with him last night. Wont be going back
We ate at the Sunset Bar and Grill before COVID, and loves the food and the view. We cant wait to go back when this is all over
I just sat at a bench here. But it was pretty and I could see the mountains and wave at people.
This golf course has great views and allot of green grass and great fair ways
This course was absolutely terrible. The course was in horrible condition also the scenery is not very nice (run downed scuffed up walls). The putting green is a disgrace. Could play somewhere a lot better for 50$. DON’T COME HERE!
Took my high school ladies golf team here for a match. They liked it.
Wife and I played the course and really enjoyed it. We went during twilight so did not get to finish the course. Hope to go back and play the full course while we are in the Phoenix area.
The greens were very slow. They also let out two fivesomes out in front of us. They said that they would not slow up play. Well just under five hours later we finally made it.
Got the Tee Off App pricing for a $12 9 am tee time. The greens were so so. But to be out playing on a Saturday Morning I cant complain much. Professional staff and the carts are up to date with USB plug ins. Definitely worth it.
Great shape.
This course is way overpriced and in mediocre shape. I would not play here again. There are much better options for a great round of golf elsewhere in the Phoenix area. Play here only if you’re desperate.
Staff was very kind and outgoing. The course was good although they had sprinkles going on the greens on two holes on the back 9. Which was very tedious and we ended up skipping those holes as we didnt want to try to make a putt while dodging a sprinkler.Overall, the weather was beautiful, staff was awesome and prices were right!
Very fun course. Surrounded by mountains and desert. Hugely scenic. Great staff.
One of my favorite courses in AZ! Fair prices and nice course.
Great views, and service and good food. Looking forward to going back.
Very hard fast greens. I would not pay close to $65 or god no way $100! At most $40, but $25 is fair price for condition of course
Not bad we all had a good time
Nice Course also fun
Wow oh wow this was the worst golf experience I have had. The course went way downhill since I played there 12 years ago. SLOW. Took 3.5 hours to play 9 holes. Then we finally get to 10 and they had the nerve to put 6 groups in front of us starting them on number 10 because they were doing maintenance on the front 9. Put us with some angry crackhead. We left at 9. There were stretches where the grass was 2 feet deep with cut dead grass that you just sink in. Impossible to hit the ball out of that. The course should have been closed for maintenance. Its a really cool designed course. They have a lot of work to do to get it back in shape. Dont think Ill make the drive again not even if it were free. Wasted my whole day. Id give it ZERO if I could.
Great experience. Went for basset hound event. Good all around
Nice layout. But it ends there. Pro shop is large, but sparse and not inviting. Feels like a low end muni course.First couple holes were okay, but wow, conditions went downhill rapidly. Soo many holes in poor shape. Fairways burnt ( where there was grass), greens in terrible shape. Two greens lost and had temporaries. No markers or notices on carts. Really?? Not even worth $25.Staff seemed like they couldn’t care less.Golf elsewhere.
As far as I’m concerned, some of the negative reviews are being overly critical. Yeah, the course isn’t perfect but they are not charging for perfection either. The course was in good enough shape and a good value for the money. The staff was great and vety interested in making sure we were having a great time - more so than ANY OTHER course we have played - even the really expensive ones. The staff was honest about the two greens that had issues and quite frankly, they weren’t that bad. The key to this course is to play the correct tees. If you don’t, you will end up having a miserable time, slow the course down and then you will likely blame the course - which is not fair. My group will come back and play it again.
Awesome golf corse and friendly staff!!
Great practice facilities!
It was good played with brother in law was fun times, course was good
A depressing example of what can happen to a great golf course run very poorly This used to be the premiere golf course in Ahwatukee. Unfortunately, over the past decade, the course has fallen into disarray. I played there for years on a Thursday afternoon league, and we had to move to a different course due to the ever degrading conditions of the course.Fairways are patchy at best...some have large barren spots...others have un-mown Bermuda which is upwards of 1-2 feet deep. Hit a ball there and you might as well drop and hit another...you’ll never find the first one.The course layout is what was the shining star. Challenging, but fair. Greens used to be immaculate and quick, but now they are marginal at best. Several have been lost altogether. You can still find cheap specials to play during the summer...but you kinda get what you pay for. Pace of play is good for the most part, but when it’s slow, there’s no help coming from the clubhouse.
Descent, challenging and enjoyable.
Awesome course design and friendly staff. Practice facilities are good and range balls are in good shape. Scenic and accessible. Lots of bunkers so you better have a short game.
Greens were fast and well maintained. Employee in Pro shop made me feel welcome and took care of all of my needs, very reasonable rates and a challenging course.
Hosts for 100 Women Who Care- quarterly meetings...beautiful venue, pleasant staff and generous to the community. Take your business to them
Just played after not having played for a few years. Many of the holes on the course resemble a giant U with all except the most errant shots feeding back towards the fairway. Fairways generally green, but many have dead or burnt batches. Many tees also in poor shape. Hitting out of many of the bunkers was like hitting off a road. Most of the greens in OK shape except for #14, which is horrible shape. All other amenities like driving range, drink cart, etc. available. Staff friendly attentive. Giving the course 3 stars for now, but ...
High green fees for a course in such poor condition. Greens were terrible. Tee boxes not much better. Everything else was fine as far as the people there.
The course was pretty nice. Fees werent to bad I guess for Arizona. The rented clubs for $45 were not so nice but didnt want to spend $100 to fly my clubs here and back. Id go here again but definitely have to bring my own clubs.
Beautiful course. Great help. Nice rentals. Well be back.
Great golf course in Ahwatukee
I read a review on here that was totally off based(imagine that). So I thought I would leave my two cents. The course has definitely been bad over the years creating quite a reputation. During the last two years there has been a substantial turnaround. I live on the course so I see them constantly working to improve the conditions, they finely have it dialed in.Jeff always grabs my bag and gets me loaded up on a cart. Barry helped me set up a celebration of life for my wife he was very understanding in the process and made it easy. I had enough on my plate. The course gets four stars but the people give it the fifth!
Nice staff. Nice location and venue.Back 9 in rough shape. Not conducive to low scores
Greens and fairways in excellent condition, esp. considering the unusually hot weather. Friendly people at the clubhouse and starter shack. Cart had a cooler full of ice, and I was free to restock the cooler with more ice at the turn. Cold water stations every 3 holes, too. Good location, not too far off of I-10. A challenging, yet fair course. Highly recommend; Ill be back!
Grass was nice although it is April so it should be. Not a fan of how far the driving range and putting green are from the clubhouse. Its a pretty long trek and uphill on the way back. They do have a cart to bring you up/down but it fills quickly. Desert rules but not a place you will loose too many balls even for a poor golfer like myself.
Had not played here in about a year, because it was so bad. Played today Aug 4 and was pleasantly surprised by the course. Its on the rebound. It gets 4 stars for the summer and hope they keep up the good work in the fall. I recommend it .
Not worth the green fee. Overall the tees, fairways and greens were good. One green lost to fungus. NOT ONE BUNKER IS PLAYABLE!!!! Driving range in terrible shspe.
Course is in very good shape right now. A couple of greens are sketchy but the rest is A1. Nice rolling hills type course with great views.
Ive always liked this track. The greens werent in the greatest shape, beer girl was mia, fairways werent near as green as the lawn near the clubhouse. Most courses are having financial troubles, no exception here I presume.
Course has nice layout. Beautiful views. Greens were not in great condition after October overseeding.
Great value. The course is in good condition, much improved over a year or so ago. Staff was friendly. Some nice view of south mountain.
This course is in desperate need of attention! One of the worse maintained courses in the Phoenix area. $75 is a joke. Dont waste your money here.
3.5 Stars from me. Very decent facility and friendly staff. Course was in ok condition. Overseeding time, greens were hairy and tough to putt. Very nice scenery and was a pleasant round.
Mothers Day Brunch. Good food Geeat service
What it could be...if I was younger Id offer myself up as GM for a buck a year..and the increase...too bad slavery is no longer in fashion..1 say again 2 dedicated fellas with rakes and determination and several million gallons of H2O could do.Worth half a yard late March maybe April...greens are ok...everybody has to play samey same..but Id offer a free round to 10 or 15 day trippers to fix ball marks for a few hours...then Id raise my prices..like Iowa...people would come..oh yes theyd come...
Ive only used the driving range witch was great. The course looks good. They also have a very nice bar
Played this course 12 /15 years ago and today. Course is in good/average/ condition. Staff is very customer friendly. Cant wait to play it again.
Ive played this course quit a few times and the conditions can range from fair to good but when I went out this Tuesday I was pleasantly surprised. The greens and tees were in the BEST condition Ive ever seen them in and there was hardly any ground under repair. If youre looking for a great course with some awesome mountain views for a bargain check out the foothills!
This place is a scam! There are sites/apps out there that FGC suggests they charge $130 a round, thats NOT true, dont fall for it. I wont be back.
If you want to play golf up in the mountains this is the place for you. The range is so cool. I will be back soon
Decent shape, greens a bit fuzzy but overall a great value with great service by the staff!
The green were slow today.
Greens are a joke. Course is in horrendous condition. Might be worth $59 if it was in pristine condition but some of the greens barely had grass on them.
Course is in good shape. Staff is awesome. Good value especially compared to other options in Ahwatukee.
Went week of 4/5/2016. This course just missed on being really decent. The price was right and some views are spectacular. Unfortunately, the course condition was lacking. I realize the more money put into the course, the more money the course will charge for greens fees. With that, I imagine a lot of golfers would pay more money to play there if the course were in better shape. This place could be a gem in the south valley considering the views.
Very enjoyable course and great price. Turf conditions improve every day.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the condition of the course has continued to go downhill. Greens are a disappointment. Nothing close to the great conditions that you can experience at nearby city courses for the same price. Fairways have bare spots, bunkers are hard packed. The owner is not maintaining the course to standards that I have witnessed in the past.
This time of year the grass should be as green as ever. The fairways were a brownish green and the greens had large bare spots. This course owes these 3 stars to the friendly and attentive staff. Fix up the fairways and greens to get 4 or 5 stars.
Nice good course for the price. Assortment of the boxes. No overly long but challenging. Quite a few bunkers on each hole. Nice greens. Good read and good speed.
The course is looking good this year. Fast greens and decent fairways. Rates are ideal.
Course was in rough shape but the sales person at hole 4 was a bummer. Please dont let them on the course
Beautiful course!
Course looks like nice layout. Greens were in bad shape. Back 9 was a little better, but not by much. Must be a shortage of water, greens need help.
The course has been in better shape but at least the greens are still doing well!
Overall a very excellent golf experience. However the fairways did have some areas with sparse grass and the greens worth in in some spots as well
Its a fun and challenging course.
Very friendly staff in club house. That is the good. There was no drinking water on the course until 10 am today & only because we called the clubhouse several times. It is after all summer and you can only carry so much on the cart. The tee boxes were beautiful, they seem to be the only part of the course that is well cared for. The greens were abysmal to be kind. I have never seen so much sand in one place except maybe the beaches in New Jersey. Balls maybe would roll 4 feet if struck with a lot of force. We played two putts per hole and then would quit no matter where the ball was. Great views only go so far.
Decent place for a round of golf!
We drive through the Ahwatukee Foothills every Christmas! The weather is great, lots of great places to eat and beautiful lights!
I cant help but love this gold course. The prices are typically very reasonable, the course is maintained well and the views of South Mountain are all around. This is not a difficult course so you will leave with a good score.
Execellent golf course! But the people are the best. Very friendly and helpful!
Like the 19th hole the best
Excellent layout, great price and POP. I wish people would fix their divots on the greens, but they still rolled true.
Nice clubhouse
Love taco Tuesday her and staff is super nice
Very nice area and nice people
ABOVE AND BEYOND!!!!!!! Had my wedding ceremony at the Foothills and Anne was absolutely amazing every step of the way! Day of we had some set backs and she went out of her way to help me fix them and have a wonderful day. So happy I chose the Foothills instead of some other venue!!! THANK YOU!!!!
This place charges a Cart Rider Fee. Are you kidding me! Its a piece of crap course. They wouldnt let my GF ride with me on a slow morning. Absolutely pathetic. Theyre comment was Its a liability cost. Seriously?! Because paying a cart rider fee will stand up in court. Dont play here if you are looing for good services.
2/24/16: This was one of the worst playing experiences I have ever had. You think for the rates they are charging the playing conditions and experience would be better. PACE OF PLAY SUCKS!!!!I had an 11:20 PM tee time and I teed off late because of the groups in front. The front nine went okay, but still slow. The tee boxes are uneven, the fairways look nice, but when you are actually on them, they are in pretty bad shape. The greens are so patchy and hardly any actual grass on them, its a joke. When we made the turn, we were already stacked up, it was out of control. We played #10 and 11, but then couldnt stand it. We tried to play #13, but we had already spent (at least) over 45 minutes playing these three holes and then we waited even more on #14, that we just left. There is no one out there monitoring the pace of play and telling people to keep up, be mindful of the people behind you, not to hit more than one ball and to only search for a ball so long. If they arent going to have someone out there to keep the pace of play at a decent time, then they need to tell you that before you book your tee time. This is why people dont want to play golf anymore is because we dont want to play 6 plus hour rounds of golf.As other have mentioned, if you have all the time in the world and want to play 6 plus hour rounds of golf, this is the place to go. Make sure you bring lots of snacks and drinks because its going to be a long day.If they dont fix the pace of play issue for this course (along with some of the other things so many have mentioned), this place will go out of business. Ive given this course too much of my money and time. I will never play here again.
It is a very good course. Will definitely be back.
Scenic backdrop with long views of mountains from a cozy veranda connected to a raised runway through which warm dry air breezed in, made for a perfect setting and stage, clean to boot, which terrain absolutely nailed it.
Much improved over last year. The overseeding came in green and lush on the fairways
Absolutely fantastic great charity event
