Impressive architecture! Very well maintained and reconstructed. We also found it cool that you can walk through the main building allowing us to appreciate the internal architecture as well. It’s interesting to see the clash between the old and the new specifically when there was a very colorful Audi R8 revving his engine right outside. :-)
I went to vote today. My experience was 3 hours standing in line waiting to get a ballot. That was a lot more of City Hall then I wanted. For those who have never seen it, it is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the world. But its efficiency does not match its late 19th century splendor.
City Hall is always fun to visit and walk around. This year we actually went up for Christmas week and really enjoyed the light show they did every night on city hall. Super cool and nice to watch with family and friends. In addition to all the holiday decor they also have the Skating Rink set up. My wife and I paid to skate and had a blast. I believe it was only 15 bucks a person. It’s really nice to visit during the holiday season in the evening and right across the street is LOVE park with all the pop up Christmas and holidays shops.
I love coming here in the summer and also in the winter when its converted into Christmas village. In the summer the kids love the fountains! Theres usually a crowd but its nice. I always enjoy myself. Its kept very clean and feels safe.
Dropped off my mail in ballot. Waited in line for a hour. But they opened up on time at 11:30 am. It was quick and easy and I got my vote in.
Went to drop off my Voter Ballot, asked for assistance to guide me to the Ballot box and the person working on the outside said, I dont know, its over there on the south somewhere, thats all they told me.Didnt help me at all, have no idea what his real purpose was being there. And yes, he had on the City Hall guide uniform and yes he told me he worked for City Hall. SMH!!!
An architectural treasure inside and out, City Hall is the largest municipal building in the United States, with over 14.5 acres of floor space.Topped with an iconic statue of William Penn, the 548-foot tower is the tallest masonry structure in the world without a steel frame; it was the tallest building in Philadelphia until 1987.The public rooms are among the most lavish in the city; the City Council Chamber, the Mayor’s Reception Room, Conversation Hall and the Supreme Court Room are the most ornate.Visitors can join guided tours to learn about the building’s history and view the city from above from the open-air observation deck.
Quite underappreciated. Absolutely breathtaking. Architecturally unrivaled in North America. A must see.
This is a major focal point in the city en route to the main shopping street and I just passed sound it circumventing to reach my hotel. The place is majestic and huge though I have no idea what would be inside. There are plenty of cheap food carts all around on the streets and most wont sell or are running out of the dish you ask for.️ This place has:Yes=Ramp access.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Entrance.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Restroom/Toilet.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Seating.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Parking.Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Elevator.
Parking? There is like no parking. Is it busy? YES. Extremely. Four of the citys busiest roads form a circle around the City Hall. Alot of tourists? YES. So, is it worth it? OH DEFINITELY.The gorgeous architecture of the place is just awesome. The building is tall and imposing. Try to go there on a sunny day when the shadows are long. The contrasts and light play will deliver spectacular photographs.Take the citys subway. Hail an Uber. Or park wherever you can and just walk to the place. Ultimately, in a historical city like Philly, walking might just prove your best bet because this way you get to discover countless little hidden gems along the way!
City hall is a nice hub to use as a landmark for other hot spots downtown. With love park, fashion district, china town, and other spots right near by!
Beautiful architecture, drab and institutional interiors. An enormous and remarkable masonry building from the 19th century.
Cool place ! Here you go I gotta great picture.
Really nice building and surrounding area. City Hall is always fun to visit and walk around. It’s really nice to visit this location.
Even though all the gates is closed, the guards is very nice and informative, make sure you have appointment before go there.
Hellooo. My friend and I spent four days in town and one of must visit buildings was the city hall. We did the tour. Once a day at noon. We heard a bit of history and renovations. We walked through the different floor, offices, and courts. The tour ends in the top of the building. I guess it was 22nd floor right next to mr william penn. What a great view of philly and new york. Simply amazing.I forgot my tours guide name. Bald, beard, and cool guy. Thanks a lot.
We didnt venture inside but the outside was impressive. We even walked through the courtyard. I was impressed by the upkeep of the building. Honestly it looked like a castle. I wish the United states had more historical landmarks and building well maintained.
Beautifull big historic site thats city hall. It has some impressive architecture on a grand scale. Its open to public(some sections) and its definitely worth the stop!
The outdoor ice skating was fun, but the food was so so.
History right in front of your eyes! Beautiful architecture and a must see when in Philly!
True iconic staple in my city!! Come enjoy and share the pictures with the rest of the world!! The building sits in the center of town, downtown. You will always find people admiring is facade. It’s truly popular with tourists and visitors. You can go and walk around the bottom of William Penns feet from a look out tower. The tours take place every hour on most days. Check it out and share your experience with the world!! #philadelphiagettoknowus
Great spot for pictures! Try going early in the morning to avoid foot traffic in your photos and get some good lighting too!
Its so well done. Used to be the tallest building in the world. William Penn watches over the city from the top. Just beautifully done both historically and modernly with traffic and signals. Just phenomenal. Best statehouse/courthouse Ive ever seen.
Great building, but too many homeless people. Phily should do something to support them.
The City Of Brotherly Love Is Philladelphia PA The Fineist Place On earth
We took a tour of the tour yesterday and the view at the top is breathtaking! The elevator ride up only fits 5 people at a time (including the operator) and can be a bit unsettling if you are afraid of heights and claustrophobic. Once you get to the top, youll be amazed of the birds eye view of Philly. And dont forget to look up and see William Penn!
Beautiful classic gothic building. It photographs well after dark.
A place where the people of Philadelphia and tourist can geet and meet our goverment officials
Celebration Joe Biden Elected 46th President
Fairly clean. Signage could be a little clearer. Other than that its a good station.
Philadelphia is just so beautiful and this building was not the exception. Nice walking area with beautiful, historic buildings like this one.
If you are in Philly it is important that you visit this place. It is the center of the city, with its four exits, north, south, east or west, take you to great roads of the city.Historical and important point. You will enjoy it, the architecture is amazing, very old but totally standing and preserved. One of the most important buildings in the city.
Almost certainly the most interesting city hall youre ever going to see, at least in the U.S. Probably also the only one that was ever the tallest building in the world. If you want a tour, though, make sure you go early. We went by immediately after lunch, and they told us that the tours were already sold out for the day.
Ae went to see the Christmas lights show on the city hall last year. Its not very spectacular however its not bad too. Its very easy to reach place just above the train station. A lot of restaurants and bars near by as its part of the downtown.
Disappointing and way overpriced in comparison to a free tour of a beautiful capitol building in Harrisburg. But they spent $5 million on the gates.... four gates at $1.25 mil each......You got to earn the money back somehow. This tour was almost two hours and could have been kept to 45 minutes. We kept going in and out of the dusty building to the four different parts of it and the factoids and jokes of the guide were not that interesting nor great.... Plus, we couldnt hear the guide very well at all- speak up and keep it short!. When inside, we kept standing at cobweb covered windows in front of what seemed to be a very busy services office and people in them were loud (a better location could have been selected for that part of the tour). We looked at paintings on the walls (not on canvass with a frame, but literal wall). The couple of rooms that we were allowed to go in were not that impressive either, again, in comparison to a beautiful and free Capitol building with marble, beautiful tile, gold, etc. This place is filthy. To add insult to injury.... Only four to five people allowed to go at a time to the top of the tower and the associate was miserable but very important. So at the end of the tour you are sitting in a room and just waiting to go up.Dont waste your time and money, just walk around Philly and visit other attractions.
Such an instagramrable place! Love at night!
Philadelphia’s Masonic Temple ( and statues ) are amazing. Two of the Founding Fathers - who were also Masons.
I love the site of the city and the art of the city hall building. Dilworth Plaza is a great area to view city hall from and has just been renovated giving the community a great cafe area to have a seat and enjoy the history of Philadelphia.
Visit here during daytime and after the light up, both equally beautiful!
Been only outside did not go in. Looks great and the seating was relaxing to watch people and cars roam around everyone going to his destination.
Its an alright place to wait for the train or bus, but the insides are amazing!
Incredible architecture. Very beautifulIt is so fun to drive around it with the buildings
Pretty nice spot in Philly to hangout around and just relax, really nice historic architecture. This place was a lifesaver when I got caught in a sudden downpour and needed a covered place to run to.
Very historic building.. Must visit
Beautiful place to sit and watch around the city
Voting via mail in ballot, through the on site process couldnt have been simpler.
Amazing tourist spot filled with history and old buildings.
Interesting place. All the same, the heart of Philadelphia. It is very beautiful here, especially in the summer - entire excursions come - children are having fun - they are splashing in fountains! Very atmospheric - you can feel a bit of the spirit of the emerging America - after all, Philadelphia is the first capital of the USA! I love to walk around the City Hall!
Handsome building that offers a grand scenery and artistry.
The Christmas village is great, well worth visiting. Although it was crowded, the lines went fairly quickly and not once did I smell cigarette smoke or pot
Its a really beautiful old style building its strange see how old building so tall, on top that have nice statue that you can see from every side of the city, big difference from The Old City Hall, like everything in Philadelphia if you get over here you cant miss it to see it, Im its right in the middle of the city very nice. I personally didnt visiting inside because I didnt have time but Im pretty sure its really nice inside and may you have to visit it
I proposed to my wife at the observation deck of City Hall right below Billy Penn
Nice historic building but all the toilet stalls have broken locks in Mens room. Seriously? I would have given it a 5 star.
This historic structure is massive. You can’t get the entire building in a shot it’s so large and robust. The architecture is stunning — absolutely unbelievable the use of very intricate details — look closely and you’ll note the wide variety of stone colors throughout the multiple levels — with the amazing tower itself a whole new set of tones and finishes. The tower of course is topped of by a very large statue of William Penn than can be seen in silhouette from many city blocks away. This is a must see/visit if you’re making your list of venues to include in your tour.
Beautiful and imposing early 20th century building designated a National Historic Landmark. It is impressive both from the outside and inside (at the building courtyard), day or night. It is also interesting to have a statue (William Penn’s) at the very top of the building.
Very lovely and vibrant place in the middle of the city. There is always something is happening. Good place for travelers, families, etc. Many historic places in a vicinity. Loved the place and the mood. It is fun at any hour of the day. Not to miss any of the nearby historic places.
Love park...awesome for love extra special lovers visits are welcome there..
Great place to spend an evening during the holiday season! Love Park, Dilworth Plaza and the Ice skating rink (all located steps from City Hall) are a great places to bring the family!
Brotherly love.. To my fellow citizens, Philadelphia has been all or most of us our childhood city and our life long legacys of diversity. It is something to love, and invent and share .I love film, so much to study about daily exchanges with neighbors, people we work with. City Hall entrance lets us go into the East or North or South and West.thats a Grand compass of sharing directions . We need a Charrette I mean a act with pride, where everyone can participate, and help for tommorow. the future of this City. Plan Visions
Really clean and the sprinkler system is amazing for the kids
Beautiful architecture!@StadiumsInsideAndOut for more great reviews and photos/videos
Philadelphias city hall building is such beautiful architecture. Very large building that draws crowds to it. On the side they have a park with a section that has sprinklers where water shoots out from the ground. I saw many children and some adults bathing there. The place is an exciting place to explore when your visiting this beautiful city.
Save your $15 that you will pay for a 15 minute view at the downtown high rise, One Liberty Place (the downtown city view from the top of a high rise office building). Instead, spend $10 taking a tour of the Old City Hall (it’s so worth it). There is so much to see and so much history at the old city hall. There is amazing architecture, original art, beautiful antique furnishings, new art exhibits from local artists, and the awesome city view from the top of the tower. Not to mention that you will be standing directly underneath the enormous statue of William Penn. If you can’t commit to the 3 hour tour then go on the tour of the tower only. You won’t regret the historical value or seeing the awesome panoramic view of the city.
Beautiful historic building should always be kept nice and neat and maintained as it is one of philadelphia most beautiful scenery. This picture is taken by one of my friends ( Albaloushi Abu Mansoor)’s camera beautiful one as himself
Beautiful ornate building — they don’t make them like they used to.
Such a great building to walk around. The detail is unreal and the whole bullying really goes seamlessly with the atmosphere around it. It was really cool to see it all lit up at night!
Worth taking the tour to the top
Nice architecture. The center of Center city Philadelphia.
Very nice place to relax throughout the day.
The city hall is located in the heart of the Center City. If you are on the hop-on hop-off tour bus, you will definitely pass by this historic landmark several times. The architecture is beautiful. The visitor center inside the building is very helpful. I really enjoy the observation deck tour. $8 for 15 minutes. 360 degree view. From here, I can view all the high-rise buildings. And is more than enjoy taking lots of nice photos. They also have interior tour as well.

As someone who was visiting Philadelphia, it was great going on this tour. gave you a nice history of the city of brotherly love.
Epic construction and architecture. Amazing place to walk through and take in. Holiday theme market right now, a must visit. Find the hot mulled wine vendor!!
Beautiful building and architecture!
Stand in the center on the compass and you are able to see the entire city clearly in all directions.
Took a 2 hour tour with a very interesting guide - a retired gentleman who gives tours due to his passion for architecture. the Building is fully functioning but the tower itself was closed the day I was there due to heavy rain. The building has some fantastic rooms including the Council Chambers where City Council meetings take place as well as many Court rooms. Very interesting
Amazing architecture! Parking is a bit pricey.
A beautiful landmark.
Went to city hall for jury duty recently and realized I never really walked around inside. The architecture is really impressive from the outside. The courtroom I was in had a beautiful gold accented ceiling. They could fix the chipping paint and buy some new air conditioners (really noisy). There were some musicians playing in the hall outside. Nice day down center city overall. Wish there was more done to address the homelessness and drug issues clearly visible from the courtyards in and around city hall but at least it looks nice for the tourists.
I visit city hall at least 2 times a month and I love taking pictures whenever I go. I was there for The Eagles Superbowl Victory Parade and Philadelphia lived up to its name...The City Of Brotherly Love
Very beautiful place and loved it’s been structured surrounded by roads
Do visit once during new year. Also ice skating is possible. Christmas and new decorations are worth watching. Especially lovely Christmas tree.
Stunning building, but it does not have a great place to take a picture. I think the place that I stand in the picture might be the place to take a photo
An incredible majestic building built during the Victorian era. The tower is pretty high and was once the tallest building in Greater Philadelphia area. The view from the top is amazing.
It was a wonderful place
Great, Im going to now eat at the Sunday breakfast Mission service.
Christmas themed accouterments only further enhance City Halls anesthetic majesty!
My favorite national site in Philadelphia. Really great architecture! I love Rocky but this is way cooler than Balboa!
Great place to walk around and learn about one of the most historical buildings in the US, you shouldnt visit Philly without going here
We didn’t get a chance to properly explore the City Hall, but it’s a beautiful building to at least walk around or through its huge gates. There is a holiday market, skating rink and light show on the west side of the building in Dilworth Park in December.
One of the most historical buildings in the US. A place to visit if you’ve never been to Philly and there’s usually something going on in the courtyard.
