Intimate performance space. Really, not a bad seat in the house. Caveat being the limitations to access to anyone who might be impaired or unsteady on their feet. Stairways down to restrooms are steep and frankly, a little scary. We saw a Flamenco performance and it was great. Sight lines, lighting, acoustics all fine.
My experience at plays and players theatre was very positive and very relaxed. I have a very good experience at this play and this place. I will definitely recommend this venue to all my family and friends. Thankyou for a very good time.
Have seen several shows here and enjoyed all of them. Venue is quite small and I think there is not a bad seat in the house.
I came here to support my professors show. Its a pretty unique theater. I definitely would come visit again.
Super cool! A bit of a time machine. Lots of steps. Great library study and bar on the top floor.
Cute, intimate theater that I attended for a double date valentine day experience. Has a bar in the very next room! Offered Valentines themed drinks at $6, great deal. Didnt try but the atmosphere was pleasant. No reason to not return.
This is a wonderful old theater that only puts on comedic productions. A treasure in Rittenhouse Square.
If you want a New York Broadway experience and not have to spend an enormous amount of money Play &Players is the place to goTheir latest production The Roommates was funny, witty and very touching. I found myself laughing and crying . A wonderful show.
First time at the theater and love the bar area. Enjoyed the play Complexion Woman and q&a after
Small cute theater with a visible view of the stage from any seating area. Would highly recommend going to a show there!
The performance was amazing! It was funny and good natured!
Classic and tiny theater. Great staff
Great shows from local production companies. Check out and see what they are offering for the Philly Fringe Festival.
When to apply there for the school I was working at places too small play was astronomical the children put on a beautiful Willy Wonka play for the staff and students at the school I worked at would go again
Saw Lay Me Down Softly during the very slow Labor Day weekend. Sweet little theater on a lovely, quiet street. Impressed with the talent and professionalism of this troupe. Im sure they would bring same to any production. Will be returning.
Great performance theater needs work
Great show about the current political antics..
Go see the roommate Lots of fun and good acting.
Its a cool, small, intimate theater (no bad seats), but its long overdue for renovations. Its almost definitely not accessible. The resident companies put on some great shows.
Great stuff at this location. Players plays and upstarts is Quigs Pub
Loved the 1812 Productions show This Is The Week That Is!!! Intimate neighborhood theater. Not a bad seat in the house. The only drawback is that the bathrooms are not handicapped accessible (you have to go down a flight of stairs).
I love this little theater. The seats are a bit cramped but the auditorium is tiered so that you can easily see the stage unimpeded.A little nicer snack bar would be nice too.
First time visiting the theatre. Excellent experience. Went to see the God project
Nice place. Seats were very comfortable. Location was easy to walk or commute to. Acoustics were wonderful. Great sound system!
Great historic place to see live theatre!
Nice old, historic theater. Many good memories of attending childrens plays with my kids.
Small theater with good views from all seats. No snacks or drinks. Bathrooms are tiny and you must climb stairs.
Totally professional casts, great staging and a marvelous staff.Add to this unparalleled perks; FREE PARKING in a brightly lit, large and newly paved parking lot, $20.00 per person, dedicated professional staff and ... comfortable seats. This is the best theater venue anywhere.I am looking forward to the coming show God Spell.
This little theater is an absolute hidden gem! The scope of stories portrayed by incredibly gifted actors is impressive. I highly recommend treating yourself and friends to a truly unforgettable occasion!
Great, up close, intimate experience
Very nice older theatre. Small enough for great views from anywhere. Private 3rd floor bar.
Some great work shown here
This is such a great theatre venue! Highly recommend seeing a show for yourself!!
SUCH A GREAT THEATRE
Ive seen plays here, Ive attended a memorial service for one of its officers (Jim Haley) and been to a few parties. It is a small group of people who give blood, sweat and tears to do everything well...and not just well, but better than well.
Great place for a show and a drink. Transports you to a different place and time and the crowd is both welcoming and eccentric. I always leave inspired and excited
Lovely local theater. Saw This is the week that is by 1812 productions there. It was wonderful.
1812 Productions is an excellent spot for local comedy!
Loved the performance. Mackenzie Rogers was perfection in motion!
A Philly classic old-time little theater that always stages interesting shows.
A theater going back to 1902 but beautifully maintained.Very good sound system and I throughly enjoyed the show.
Excellent as always. Very entertaining and funny. Cant wait to go again.
Seats are pokey, bathroom stall door is way close to the toilet, and no sound system.... But the show was awesome
1812 Productions This is The Week That Is - a wonderful way to cheer up your holiday,in spite of the news. Thoughtfully done.
Great performances
The show was good but not as good as in years past. I am a heavy woman and I could barely fit in the seat. It was actually painful to sit. It was a tortuous time for me. Just to add: I fit well in movie theater seats, so the seats at Plays and Players seem extra small.
My experience was a very nice one.The play was really a good play.I will return tomorrow night again.Very talented young people.
The last community theatre in Philly. Still going strong but mostly a rental house now. Not much community theatre but stacks of professional companies rent the main house & the Skinner Studio on the 3rd floor. And dont miss Quigs Pub next to the Skinner on the 3rd floor - Phillys theatre glitterati hang there all the time. Its members only so turn up at 10pm, join up & hang until 2. Cash bar only.
Brilliant show, truly amazing
Their This Is The Week That Is show is not to be missed (been going for many years). It is part Daily Show, part SNL and the cast jams to a tune at the end. I have been to their other shows which include some very good ones and some average ones.
We attended a performance of Plough and the Stars and I cant say enough or tell enough of my friends how much we enjoyed this performance. The actors really drew you into the drama and their characters. The dialect was a nice addition and I could hear my Grandparents and great Aunts and Uncles in there...i liked very much that they did this performance with the accents. it was a small audience for a Thursday night but the cast played it like they were performing for a packed house full of v.i.ps. it was wonderful.
Cool little venue for live artistic shows. I saw a comedy show here and it was pretty funny.
I saw a couple of productions here which I enjoyed very much. Its a charming building. Access to bathrooms a bit off-putting.
Nice place, good quality equipment. Beautiful stage.
Very intimate w/ a black box and a full theater and a bar!
Great show in an old venue.
The best conversational comedy group in Philly.
What an amazing place.. a real theatre hidden on a residential block.. love it
LOVE LOVE LOVE this theater group. Every play is a surprise and full of laughs!
Always a good time never disappoints!
Saw a Baltimore Rock Opera Society show here, and it was awesome.
So much fun!
I really enjoyed the play Ill again
Great comedy show for $5 and $10.
The Play was AWESOME!
A great after hours bar on top of the theater
Week that is the best
Love this theatre just sad its not accessible
Great
Great little theatre with a lot of history. Seats are uncomfortable.
I performed here for a play over a month ago. The stage is huge and so is the dressing room.
Show was cute
This is the week that is ...a must see show

Exciting
