We always sit in the balcony. Before entering they divide the people into two separate lines. If youre a lady your bag will be searched if youre a man youll be patted down, I have no idea what happens to anyone who doesnt identify as something other then male or female. Otherwise the experience is usually good. Very large bathrooms-major plus

Practice What You Preach Trocadero! This place looks like a regular bar from the outside they even have beer signs glaring from Windows so you can see it from the street and if this is being licensed as a bar to have these signs because in Pennsylvania as they are very strict advertisement laws people should not be waiting outside to get in. Lines at this venue are utterly ridiculously long and never go when its raining snowing or inclement weather. Parking is another mess as they tell you to use the lot by the Hilton and this lot if you were a few seconds before 5 you could get a $50 bill or more. So dont even let them get you with that parking vouchers stamp scam. They have a downstairs area which is for the people under the age of 21 have a little snack bar that sells bad carnival style food and upstairs is for the people over 21 which is the bar area. This area upstairs is completely sticky like someone took the most sugary soda and wash the floors with it and the drink prices are out of this world at $10 for a Pabst Blue Ribbon for the hipsters. Hipsters dont care about money because theyre just spending their parents but working people like me are not going to pay ridiculous prices. Security is a complete joke and expect bad touches so that tells you what kind of people are working there. Searches should be completely illegal unless done by a peace officer but their security guards have other intentions. Nowadays the Trocadero has little to no business which is a good thing and I think after their bankruptcy with threats to close down they should follow through on that statement. Never bring markers into this place to have your favorite artist sign your stuff because they will be thrown in the trash. I would never give this place any money to see a concert and there really needs to be a change in the modern metal seen today!

I dont generally write reviews but... I was there to see John Carpenter. Ive worked in a professional theater since I was 16. This building is unsafe. People were crammed in like sardines, they oversold. Some of the staff were great, others were really rude. We tried to get a refund but were informed they didnt have a policy, even when they oversell to the point of people being unable to fit into the theater. The house manager had someone from security escort/push through the crowd to get us to the front of house right since it was the only place there was any extra space. Their stage lighting is hung on wood beams... I do overhire work for lighting and Ive never seen anything like it. Its a fire hazard. And the guy running the lighting board didnt know what a grid was when I asked when it was last updated. It was incredibly alarming and you couldnt pay me to enter the building again. I was going to go see Bianca del Rio there but... Nope. Ive never feared for my safety in a building before. Im not from Pennsylvania so maybe the laws are different but in NYC or NJ, this building would not pass the fire inspection.

I recently just visited this place for the first time for a Monday night band; Of Mice and Men. You cant miss the place driving through normal traffic or even walking by, the sign is very well lit and visible, plus you can hear the live music playing from out on the streets. Walking in youre greeted by staff with great customer service and direct you into the right direction. Now my only complaint about this place, when you walk in a little further past the box office, theres the mens and womens bathroom to your right and left hand side, so right away it just smells like bathroom, almost like a portapotty (spell check me lol); other than that the place offers a small but good bar, some food as in pizza, pretzels, hot dogs, and even non-alcoholic beverages. Floor space is roomy even with a good size crowd, they do have a balcony section as well but Im not sure if you have to pay extra for that. Id do five stars but again, that bathroom smell is what got to me because even being on the floor, when the doors from the outside are opened, it pushes the smell into the concert area.

Okay concert venue. They have a nice open space for listening to the bands and dancing, but their concessions are seriously lacking. They have a pretty poor beer selection and they had pizza that was made somewhere else which they warmed up for like 30 seconds. The pizza wasnt even warm and seemed pretty old. Their best beer was shocktop. Enjoyed the bands, and the space, which also has an upper level to watch from, but the place itself was not great.

Nice venue. Has alot of red. Upstairs you can sit down. I like it. Has quality sound I guess because it is a theatre. Cool molding and trim work all around the theatre. It has a nice bar upstairs so you dont have to go down to get a drink. All shows end around 11:00 p.m. because it is in the city Im assuming it is because of some sort of city ordinance. Friend and I visited philly to see a show which was a pretty good. The venue overall was decent, intimate not overtly large. My only complaint was that they took my favorite PINK highlighter, reasoning was because people draw on walls. Common now, we are adults and not prepubescent 12 year olds who feel the need to draw on walls. Slightly disappointed about my stolen highlighter, but I supposed if another band who was good and they were not showing anywhere else Id be back.

Nice venue. Clean. Good sound. At first security seemed a little unorganized before opening the doors, but they got themselves together and started letting everyone in on time. The show we attended was all ages and to be able to drink you had to go upstairs. I dont know if it is always like that or not. Personally, I like that. I can enjoy the show without having drunk people spill beer on me.The venues website says they validate parking from a couple of different nearby garages on 11th Street making the parking fee $10. We parked in a garage on 10th Street just around the corner for $9 without validation. Thats really cheap for Philadelphia.Overall, a good experience here. I will definitely consider going back.
