My friends and I went to this movie house to hang out and spent time together. The place was clean, the seats were very comfortable, and the screen was big, clear, and loud. Besides, the foods were hot, and the drinks were cold. Honestly, we greatly enjoyed watching movies in your store. It was perfect and nice. Thank you so much!
Been going here for a very long time. Like the work they did to touch it up. This is a classic single screen cinema. Theres a small black box upstairs. Each offers a great experience. Beer, wine and liquor available alongside popcorn. From artsy festival fare to big name blockbusters this place has it all.
Went to Ford vs Ferrari premiere. The film center is terrific, as seats are very comfortable. If you sit in the upper section, all the better. Each row is much higher than row in front. No head blocking. Sound is amazing and screen is perfect size. Not too big and not too small, just right! Conveniently located near all hotels and transit. I loved it.
This is a really cool theater. The seating is very comfortable with ample sized seats for larger folks. The screenings are all standard, I believe, so dont expect IMAX or 3d. The snack bar was small, but well stocked. Being in Center City, the prices are a bit higher than in the burbs, but it also means that your within walking distance of great restaurants, to make a well rounded date night. This theater also screens a lot of independent films so you can see a huge variety of different films.
Love it! Its intimate, not huge but big enough! Definitely stop by during the Philly festival.
Very nice place to enjoy any movie. Feels very old-fashioned. Really cool place.
Other than the fact that they were showing Avengers: endgame, this theater was awful. The staff was lackluster, did not seem like they wanted to be there. The concessions were ridiculously over priced for the minuscule amount of luke warm popcorn you get, let alone they ran out of butter, (a theater... ran out of butter).Over all if I had the choice to watch a movie here or literally a projector on a wall with a popcorn machine? Id watch it on the wall. Dont go here.
Awesome indie and special film theatre. This was a special preview for Ford v Ferrari with the Simeone Auto Museum, the film nor the theatre dissapointed, both were spectacular. The one caveat, bathrooms are downstairs, if youre a slow mover (bad knees or such) be prepared, but without major renovations ($$$$$) what can they do? However, do not let that stop you, go and enjoy whatever they are showing.
Great big screen good audio. Good people. Beer wine and alcohol at popcorn stand. They get good movies.
Went to the Screening of The Banker with Samuel l Jackson. Nice theatre
The black box theater was great for watching a movie with a group. There are little cafe tables for your snacks. The sound system is excellent, the room shook with the big bass sounds. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The screen is smaller than a big theater, but I didnt mind.
I always used to walk right by this place paying it no mind, but seeing as though it was one of the only theatres playing Midsommar we thought why not. We were instantly greeted politely, all of the staff were super friendly. We went to the second floor to an intimate theatre with tables. The chairs were uncomfortable, but the intimate setting made up for it. So glad we came!!
A nice theater, which was called Prince Theater before. The air system is really good, which doesnt make it feel unnecessary any cold or warm temprature inside the theater. I had performance twice in there. Piano was tuned and I liked the touch. Bathrooms are very clean. Everything was good and staff are friendly.
Left halfway through a movie because we saw two mice running through the aisles very close to other viewers. As a result, the experience no longer became comfortable/enjoyable. I spoke with one of the employees on the way out, and he simply responded with a dismissive Were aware. No attempts to remedy the situation. If the mice werent an issue, I would give the theater 5 stars, however, until then, I will not be recommending this place to anyone.
I was with my 3 small granddaughters ages 3, 4 & 6 to see Secret Life of Pets2. They loved it and the space, the chairs and tables were set up very comfortable. They really thought they were big people, with their drinks and snacks.
Clean, quiet and very enjoyable movie going experience. The bathrooms were nice and clean. This is the only movie theater in the area WITHOUT a super sticky floor. I was somewhat amazed as to the lack of adhesion.
Really cool venue for movies. Very clean and nice. Saw Rolling Thunder Revue tonight. Awesome.
Saw Avengers: Endgame here. Such a classy place for a movie theatre! Not many people per room, so less risky of noisy people ruining the experience. Absolutely loved it! Will definitely be seeing a lot more movies here!
Amazing place! We visited from it of town just to see Mary Poppins and it was worth the trip.
Really beautiful. Nice seats. Pretty large screen. Free water lol. Kind of expensive drinks and popcorn but thats understandable as they probably make a lot of theyre money that way
Its like that old school cinema you see in the movies. Dont expect any leather recliners, no 4d surround sound, no free refills or massive ugly 30oz drink jugs, theres not even any seat selection go there and sit where ever. The small hall where I saw ford vs ferrari had very basic seating almost like those make shift college stands. If Rittenhouse square was a small town then this would be its only cinema that everyone would go too. Sometimes simple is better and just what we are looking for.
Honestly not that bad, Im used to the Cherry Hill Dolby theater but a friend and I went to see El Camino here and it was decent. Not the craziest movie cinema wise but good nonetheless.
Great space to see movies. It used to be the Prince theater, but now is part of the Philadelphia Film Society. Get yourself a membership and support independent theaters in our great city.
Updating my previous review of The Prince Theater, now renamed The Philadelphia Film Center. Valentines Day weekend was also my birthday weekend. As a gift, my girl took me to the film centers special event of presenting all eight Oscar nominated films for 2018, from Friday evening through Sunday evening for $50 per person. One of only a few venues in the entire country that played all eight Oscar nominated films back to back.A wonderful time for true movie buffs it was. And finally they have a pure butter dispenser for their bit too salty popcorn. But dont mind me because I am not the worlds biggest salt fan. My girl likes the popcorn as it is now with 100% butter topping available. The venue is always clean, particularly the bathrooms that can be the thing of nightmares at other venues at times. The staff is accommodating and the seats are old school comfortable. Sorry, no lean back seats on tap here. Management should make it a priority attaching cup holders to the seats. All in all a very nice movie going experience. With other upgrades and one of a kind events in the works for this year, the Film Center is on its way to being the watermark standard for movie theaters in the city.
Great place and no riff raft. Not ghetto.
It was a wonderful experience at Prince Theater. It was cute small theater but with very good service. They had a black box theater where they kept chairs and tables for you. It felt like you are sitting at home and watching a movie. Overall it was a good experience and would love to visit it again for next movie.
Cool theater. They sell beer
Had a AWESOME night at the Jay and Silent Bobs Reboot Roadshow!!!
Loved it great staff & movie experience!
Great little cinema with friendly and helpful staff.
Went to see Mary Poppins here. Best movie theater experience Ive had in a long time. Id definitely look ahead to see what else is on the schedule for the main stage theater.
Great theater downtown Philadelphia. Saw Quentins Jackie Brown movie. A throw back in 35mm movie
Fabulous clean perfect sound and sight.
Very comfortable seating, very pleasant staff, terrific films, a complete package!
Great theater. Only problem is parking in this area. There is a lot on 16th just past Chestnut in the Liberty building. The theater gives discount coupons if you remember to ask. This brings the cost down to $15. Public transportation is better if you can do it.
Nice people place to see movies. Members only theatre
Great, the big screen experience is becoming obsolete and Im a dinosaur when it comes to that outlet. Its gpod to know that The Prince Theater alows for that experience.
Cool location to see a movie or show
Lovely and friendly staff. Always has events and screenings. Place is also very clean and well maintained. Offers parking validation at Liberty Place mall parking garage also.
What a cool movie theater experience!!! I had no idea. There’s two movie rooms and you use the elevator to get to them. When you get to your floor, the elevator opens to the movie room. And there are tables with comfy chairs around them. Sort of like a comedy club, minus the noise and grime. I’ve never seen anything like it. Super quiet and intimate experience. Plus you get to sit so close to the screen at eye-level! Amaze.
This is a review of the black box theater at the Prince. I watched a film in the black box and was impressed. The sound system is awesome. The seats are quite comfortable, with four to a table. The film we attended was not a packed house. Im not sure what the sight lines would be if it had been. That said, Im definitely going to be keeping an eye on the movies scheduled in the black box.
Watched Aladdin and it was amazing! They theatre was so nice and surprisingly clean!
Always a great experience at the Prince Theater. The staff are always so helpful. I also love that they have adequate bathroom facilities instead of just two toilets and you have to wait in line for 15 minutes. No problems like that at the Prince Theater. :)
Just a lovely place! My kids love it there!
Wonderful theater! The Shaft movie Premiere I attended was absolutely amazing!
Nice big old movie theater, with beautiful old marquee. Seats are not the most comfortable.
Good prices concession, good screen
Pretty cool small theater. The Black Box theater is literally chairs like in a waiting room so not as comfy but still good experience
Cool organizationMeets monthlyLocal filmsFree or with donationSuch a great community art event!
Amazing space and the staff was awesome.
Me and my boyfriend got here to see Creed 2. When we got here there was no line. The box office lady was nice. We went straightforward and viewed a cute setting of seats to pick from. One thing is.. If you are 56 tall and above your knees will be touching the back of someones seat..Also the rows are super tight so just BEWARE of that. Also, they do not serve fountain drinks (cups w/ or w/o ice) only bottled drinks. They do NOT have popcorn either
Acoustics are absolutely the worst - sound goes straight up. Seats are cripplingly bad. Site lines are good.
I was there for a screening of Behind the Bullet!! The theatre is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable!
Great location for such an incredibly big theater, audiences are chill, staff is lovely.
Awesomely dope I saw screening of the Shaft.
Very fine facility. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Amazing movie theater...great concession prices and comfortable seats
It was a different movie expierence but very cool .I will do it again.
Fun place to see a movie
Great venue. I dont know when it was built or redone bit its really nice, looks very clean and sharp. It made me feel underdressed. Good acoustics and clean comfortable seating.
Nice place may be it is not one upgrade theater but its clean friendly staff good price.
Nice lavish laid back atmosphere
Good except small theater is slightly uncomfortable with the small chairs and table set up. But I do love supporting local business so its worth it!
Casablanca on the big screen.
My first time in this theatre. Will definitely go back
Professional staff and nice auditorium and sound system. Seats are old fashioned, but comfortable. I always enjoy my experience watching movies here.
Old historical cinema in center city. It works well and the popcorn are good
It was enjoyable to hear the critics discuss the oscar winners. I thought I was going to a party so I was a bit disappointed but it was still an interesting evening.
For one the best cinematic experiences in the city, come here. These folk keep it clean, friendly, and efficient.
Went to the black box theatre and it was great. Might be a different story if youre trying to see the big, new, blockbuster action movie. Even if you were, the screen is a good size and the sound is fantastic.
Showcases the newest movies like other area theaters, but has a wonderful, vibrant, inviting type of atmosphere throughout, especially with its Black Box Theater.
Nice, close to parking!
We go there for the Sunday service :Freedom Church.
Ok place to spend a couple hours inside in a bit chilly weather.
Nice! But I messed my hat :(
They have great stage views from all seats. The dance concert series is a bargain. You can buy tickets for individual performances too. Mostly modern and contemporary dance, little or no ballet. Support live performance artists!
Philadelphia Film Center is smaller than I thought. Its lobby is not large but nicely decorated with plaques and caricature cartoons. Its staffs were kind. Its location is very easy to find on Chesnut Street.
Came for PFF Springfest, saw two incredible films, and cant wait til Im back in Philly so I can catch more!!!
Best place to see a movie
Great sound system, cool place to watch a movie.
I just discovered that this place also shows movies when there are not live musical performances going on. Its a great place to see a movie the screen is huge, the theater is clean, and the seats are very comfortable. And theres an added bonus of a small bar in the lobby that sells drinks that you can bring into the theater.
Very good tasty food. The portions are average; the pricing is reasonable for a center city restaurant. However, if you are particularly hungry, your dining experience will get expensive.
Love this theater, it is a historic treasure. We come from NJ to see movies at this venue.
The building is a historic landmark and in good condition. It has an old-timey feel that is nice. The theater is a venue for films, plays, and dance events. The seats are not the most comfortable, but bearable for the duration of a film. They show both mainstream and independent films. The staff are friendly and professional.
Saw a movie here while visiting some friends, it was a nice theater that I would definitely recommend.
What a marvelous event this was. I still shimmer in the afterglow!
Nice, new clean seats, conveniently located near my office... The theater is not responsible for rude noisy patrons. I think they should not sell liquor or allow it in.. Big drunk purposefully stepped on my feet.
Nicely rebuilt theater.
One of the best venues in the city for the gathering of like minded individuals and enjoy arts exchange. Great seating along with the value proposition.
Very nice movie theater and nice seating plan
Best price for the whole family
Great venue for out of the way film.
Damien Escobar was excellent! No problems.
