Terrible bag policy I experienced more than a year ago prior to COVID. I was cycling there and was storing my helmet in my backpack. I permitted them to search my bag and they did not offer lockers or staging for bags. I was not offered a refund. Since I ordered online, I was told to call customer service. Customer service did not provide a refund despite me telling them of this theater’s bag policy. I won’t be visiting that theatre again!
I miss the movies. I cant wait till we can go back. I love this place.
I love this theatre, but unfortunately CoVid has shut it down. One of the best in Philly though.
Even tho i hate most people im watching movie with its still a cool movie place. theres ben & jerry near by, couple pizza shops, mini arcade down the street. it a nice place to kill time
Took the kids to a matinee. We had a good time. It was beneficial to have the AMC rewards app. Ive been going to see movies at this particular location since I was younger.
I recommend this place because is very convenient if you want to see a movie with your families and friends. Also they have a special day!! If you want to see a movie and you can wait... I encourage you to try Tuesdays because is the special day!! The entrance is to reduce price!! What youre waiting for? Make your plans and go on Tuesday!! You wont regret it.
Just saw a great movie. The service was excellent. Loved having a soda and popcorn during the film. Cant enjoy it without some. Youll love their selection of other snacks. Seats were so comfortable I hated to have to leave the theatre. Ill be going back next week to see more movies. Hopefully youll be going yourselves real soon. Tbe movie experience is still a great thing to go out for.
A good cineplex in University City - probably he only one. Shows almost all Hollywood movies, but non-English movies are virtually non-existent. Prices are around 12-13 on most days but Cinemark Movie Rewards members can grab tickets for 5.50 on Tuesdays, and the membership is free, so you can use this if it works for you.
It was nice. It had a nice atmosphere. I just didnt like being checked for food. If theyd bring the prices down, there would be more sales for snacks.
Overall nice theater, the employees were courteous, bathrooms were clean, food was fresh but the floor was a little sticky where I was sitting. Would have given a five star maybe next time.
I had a good time. Customer service was excellent
I enjoy a matinee every now and then with granddaughter. The first showing of the day was $4.50 each. We shared a popcorn at some ridiculous cost and a drink but enjoyed the movie. The movie had bad reviews for cleanliness but looked very clean the day we went.
Good Theatre; comfortable seating. Attracts a diverse audience. Overall good experience.
If yall know anything about the parking system in Philly. Went with my Granddaughter watched a Half hour of Previews or more and finally the Movie. Only to get out and find a Parking Ticket on my Car. They have absolutely no Parking!
The best experience.
Easy parking. Clean location. Reasonable prices. All the latest movies.
Talk about convenience. My son is in and apartment close by.We will sometimes feel like going to a movie and WaLa we have one across the street.Enjoy the show!
Nice place with attractive view.
Theyre always good with food and drinks for a date night! $5 Tuesdays are the best!
Pretty chill. No complaints re:theaterWent to see The Photograph. Per usual, late comers are chatty and a bit of a disturbance. If youre gonna be late pre-open your snacks, food, whatever before you come in, sheesh !
Delightful experience, great movie, and other movie goers were respectful.... my grandson enjoyed...
ComeShort selection of movie its a popular movie platform. Service I experienced was laid back, but on time. Very good when I saw once upon upon a time in holly wood at a wpm showing on Sunday.
Much cleaner than expected. Went to a matinee. The monthly deal sounds good if you go more than once a month.
I had a terrific time I want to go see Harley Quinn birds of Prey I enjoy watching It...
I love going to this movie theaters because they employees are respectful and the people not out of control the bathroom is clean
Clean fun theater with big comfy seats. A bar in the back. Its nice to have a cocktail after a movie with your date and not have to go far
Horrible service I waited for a friend to treat our kids to the movies . She purchased the tickets ahead . So I had to wait . I wish I could give half of star . I ask can my kids use the bathroom while I wait on my friend they refused . I said I will wait in the front if you think I will sneak it the movies . I asked for a manager can he allow my kids to go while I wait in the front. He said unfortunately no unless I see your tickets. It’s not my first time being unhappy with this movie theater. I just do not understand how you can no empathy for kids . I could careless if they watched the kids go in the bathroom. Since the bridge and Rave movie lefty’s it’s been horrible. Checking your personal pocket bag . Rude security guard and enslaved workers . One concession stand making the customers wait in long line for over priced items .
Nice theatre but misses a lot of the bigger movies of late, seems to hold movies that dont do well for far too long.Nice and friendly staff though.
Ive been going here for years, since it first opened. ive seen some good and some bad. but if you dont care about the individuals around you and can ignore the children screaming over the movie... you should be good
Quiet, convenient and clean!
Intimate theater setting. Not the most comfortable seats available, usually clean. Nice concession area, plenty of variety.
Very good theater!! Great convenient location, accessible by bus, train or car! Love the atmosphere!!!
Show good movies they have good snacks nice area
Nice theater. Be warned they are not afraid to go in your bags.
Great movie..saw Bad Boys For Life...great seats
Very small but nice. Homey feel
There are always problems with their projector or sound systems. Chairs are uncomfortable with like zero leg room.
Kids was messing with older guy but they put them out..... Not to bad other than that
Large and spacious. Movies are very clear. Not sure if the light is enough for cleaning crew to get in. It could be cleaner inside I think.
The friendliest staff Ive ever encountered at any movie theater. Everyone was helpful and happy to be doing their jobs. Plus, Im so impressed that the theater has a lounge with a full bar. And next time I come here Im totally ordering gelato!
It was good experience customer service was great also
Very nice and pleasant l would come back again
University of Pennsylvania school of Denistry is the BEST
Very clean and nice atmosphere. Food is good and drinks are a resonable price.
Busy, clean, well managed theater. Good seating, sound, and multiple refreshment stands. Serves alcohol and has security on site along with UPenn police outside. Parking garage is across the street. Septa routes are close by as well. Only major nitpick is the bag search policy. Anything bigger than a handbag or purse is not allowed. Dumb considering, it is a University campus. But it is a corporate office policy... Thank you movie shooting jerks....
Very nice it was early so not too full
Chairs move a lot and are kinda squeaky. Reminds me of folding chairs. But still a clean atmosphere.
I enjoy going here, its comfortable, clean, good movies plenty of snacks and drinks
Always has the best selection of movies, and the popcorn is the best
I live in between this theater and the one at Riverview Plaza. This one definitely beats the Regal Cinema at the Plaza. Although it is smaller by a large margin, this theater is cleaner, friendlier, and overall better maintained. Best part about it is the bar! Cant go wrong with watching a movie with a cold beer. There has been a few occasions where people will talk or have shouting contests during movies and staff does nothing about it. Other than that, Id recommend it.
I liked this theatre. In terms of how the theatre looks and feels, I cant complain. The theatre was clean and the chairs were comfortable. The movie and the sound was great. I really liked the experience and I think Ill put this theatre on the top of my list for next time I have an itch for a good movie going experience.
I always have anice time at this movie theater. The Harriet was awesome great movie, great acting..
Good ticket prices and clean comfortable stadium seating. Snack stand very busy but organized and clean. Will be visiting soon again.
This is usually a cool place to go especially since University City is packed with surrounding restaurants and other pre or post movie treats. My last visit was pretty scary we were in the lobby as my nephew sat his book bag in the chair and walked over to look at the poster for the upcoming films. Security decided they wanted to get into Rambo mode knowing that this was just a kid who irresponsibly left his book bag in the chair. This kid is no terrorist. The way they approach my little nephew unfortunately stirred up my husband and security felt they had to argue back and forth instead of just professionally asking us to leave and escorting us out. I was trying to reason with the male security guard but the female security guard who was the most unprofessional of the pair, continued arguing as if she forgot that she was a professional at work so I totally blocked her out and was trying to reason with the male security guard who seemed at least a little bit more reasonable. By that time my husband was pretty upset and I was trying to diffuse the situation being that these are gun-toting security and the last thing we need is another incident. I was very upset because we are African-American and the last thing I want is for my little nephew to have a negative view or even fear of any type of law enforcement. I feel that they could have diffuse the situation instead of egging it on. I love the movie theater, but they should definitely hire professionals and not power-crazed gun-toting security guards that want to approach a kid instead of asking the adult whose bag is this.
Less expensive than the new AMC in the Fashion District
I like this movie theater a lot, its my local one. Its very clean and the staff is always friendly. I understand that they make their money on everything but movie tickets, but I paid $10 for a bottle of water and Reeses Pieces
This is the only movie theatre in University City. They have Tuesdays half off deal, which is a crowd favorite. If you can, but these tickets in person, maybe a day ahead so that you save on the service fees. Their ticketing kiosks, especially the one outside the theatre makes it easy for one to buy tickets. Although, these kiosks appear to be out of order for most part. They have recently made some changes:-1. tickets have seat numbers assigned to them, so book ahead of time to get a seat of your choice.2. You can not carry a bag into the theater, unless its the size of a small side sling bag or handbag. This means, that if you are headed to movies straight from work or classes, you will have to figure out a place to keep your bags. The seats dont recline much, but they are comfortable. I prefer this place for its ease and closeness to my work place and home. Personally, for the same price AMC has a better luxurious experience.
Didnt like how some of the staff was disrespectful and called my sister stupid and management wasnt helpful!
The box office staff made it simple for me to exchange a ticket purchased online for the same film for an earlier time!
Its not a big a the cinemark Im used to, but its just as good. Cinemark is personally my favourite theater so I was happy there was one in Philly that I can enjoy when I lived there
Good place to go will go again girls night out
I had a very poor experience two out of the three times I went here. They were not accommodating at all with bringing a bag into the theater. I understand that they have a policy but they dont follow it consistently. I use the same bag all the time and one time they said it was fine to bring into the theater and another time they forced me to take a refund because the bag was arbitrarily too large.
I thourghly enjoyd my time @ the rave movie theater watching my movies.
Chairs are pretty comfortable and theater has always been clean. Theres also a great deal with the parking garage in front if you buy movie ticket. Will be coming back!
Nice clean cozy spot to hang with your girls or a date night. Also have a restaurant and bar, you can eat a delicious meal with a nice glass of wine and chill watching a movie.
Great theater i enjoy my time watching movies there never had a issue with the staff nor the public just a good experience there. I recommend.
Nice and clean! Great staff
Its a great movie place.
Great movie theater n cheap.
Love the location neat UPenn, however this place gives a slightly old feel. Despite it, the place is clean with 6 screening rooms.Do take the advantage of Tuesday ticket deals if you can.
Loved the movie theater. Parking is excellent, especially because of the parking facilities right across the street. And of course validation of parking. The atmosphere is excellent at the early bird, in the morning. Not crowded, more seating opportunities to pick out.
Theres no more 5.50 on Tuesday, you have place it on your phone, to receive the discount, i paid 9.19,one dollar discount i m a senior citizen, 10.19 for my 15 year old son plus i had my sister with me over 28 dollars for 3 people. Wow
Will never come there again! I came after work and school with my younger sibling. And we were turn away in a nasty way for having book bags. The new policy was not posted in plain site, that states bag size not specific type. but the problem I had was the white and asian student from the university were allowed to bring in their book bags.
I go here fairly often and its always a good visit. Friendly people at the desks, and I love that you can reserve your seats before getting in the theater. Food is similar to all movie theaters food, although they do have a cafe that serves more real food (but its only open certain hours, so dont expect that for late night movies!)
Great experience watching The Avengers End Game. It was really a great time here. One of the longest movie I watched but not bored. A little tired because of the seats. So, I take a star out for that and 1 star for ok volume.
My family always chooses this movie theater! I love it. The new bag policy is kinda crazy because now you have to lock your purse in your car and cant bring it in. Only problem I have because my things can get stolen so I just leave it home when we go now to avoid problems. The staff could be a little friendlier but I still like the theater its self its always clean.
This is the best theater in town if youre needing to see a blockbuster. Get there early on weekends (the place gets packed)The seating is incredibly comfortable and the snacks are good as well.
Nice movie theater Ive been here a few times is very convenient and good walking distance
Good experience. No problems. Lot of students, which is expected, seeing as its on Penn campus.
Great service. I am handicapped and couldnt carry popcorn and soda. The young lady carried my order to my seat.
The time spent here was pleasant.
Not a bad place for sure. online convenience fee is annoying considering that its almost necessary to buy tickets online for big name movies when they first come out...
Great Place ! Lines always long at snack bar but very nice
This is the closest theater to us and being in the neighborhood is really convenient. The Fresh Grocer is right across the street so food shopping after the movie is nice. This theater is clean and well maintained and we always have a good experience with the crowd and the snack bar. Parking during the week is a hassle but it is Free on Sundays
Its a pretty nice place to watch a movie 5$ Tuesday r the best
I like going there it is nice. And they have $5 Tuesday. I will go there early in the morning and enjoy. The food is too high but I always eat before I go in. Try it. You cannot beat it.
Great service and staff. The location is incredibly convenient for me to get to. I can catch up on all the latest movies, and Met performances. I will admit I did have an issue with their bag policy, but management was happy to refund us for both concessions and a tickets. We were even given passes from the general manager for the inconvenience. While I hope that the new bag policy implementation goes smoothly, I still enjoy the theater and the service they provide.
Awesome theater. Clean, neat, and one of the most vibrantand modern parts of Philadelphia. And you cant beat a theater where you can drink a microbrew while watching Frozen 2!
Great place to see a movie!
The movie theater was okay a little outdated is all. FYI there is parking across the street in the parking lot right next to fresh grocer. With a validation it says $4 but its a catch-22 and getting out of the parking lot.if you pay on the bottom level is $4 if you drive to get out of the parking lot you need to insert the ticket that they give you from the movies then insert the actual parking ticket and it will come down to $3 but you must pay with a credit card.I feel that they get over on people a lot and a lot of people end up paying $15 to get out of the parking lot because they dont want the hassle of figuring it out. just wanted to put it out there cuz they need to be exposed for getting over on people with parking!
Normally I love this place but their latest rule of no backpacks is terrible. I decided to surprise my son with a movie after school, but they wouldnt let us in to be seated because he had a book bag. So I had to take everything out of his bag and have him carry the contents (even though I offered to have them check the bag). I left the bag outside of the movie theater and of course it was gone when we got out. My only other option was to return my tickets to a sold out show.
Avoid!! The rudest women work here. We wanted to watch a movie and had a small lightweight backpack and were told we couldn’t come in with it!! Another guy booked his ticket and was told that he couldn’t go in with his bag and that there was nowhere to store it!! We asked if she had a tape measure to measure our bag and she said ‘i know what 12” looks like’ turns out when we went across the road to the CVS to measure our bag she doesn’t actually know what 12” looks like. I guess you probably wouldn’t know what a 30cm ruler looks like if you never went to school.
They need too upgrade the chairs other wise nice place
They have armed security. Thats not a place I would want to visit again if you need armed security.
