Lovely local art gallery featuring African American art.2.2.2020.I am writing this review on behalf of Dr. M. Tyler who has purchased original art named King, by artist Laurie Cooper; also purchased a large African wood carved mask, as well as a wood sculpture affixed to a lovely wood base, Dr. M also purchased a black and white canvas photo of Harriet Tubman which she adores. Also on the same day, she viewed the film Harriet which was showing at the Gallery and sat in on a lively discussion after the movie. She is glad to have been apart of the lively, enriching, organic, art experience at October Gallery.Highly recommended.Thank you!
Awesome place to visit for African American art. And its free! If your getting off at Upsal station I definitely recommend. Its just a bit dusty to be honest!
OMG - this was Outstanding! Don was our instructor and fun, fun, fun. The gallery is a gorgeous 3 story home and art from various artist flank the place. They have a small store area for small sales, but I do recommend going for the lesson. It made me appreciate how relaxing painting can be. Yes, Id go back or have a party with Don as the instructor. Worth your effort.
I went for the free paint class which was great! The staff was friendly & the event was fun. My class was full and everyone was laughing and having a great time. I highly recommend attending the free paint classes & also seeing and purchasing the colorful and soul touching black art.
