We are so fortunate to have a community arts center line ALAC right in our neighborhood! Ive been to many plays there, and they always delight. Plus, you can pack a dinner and bring a bottle of wine to enjoy during the production. The ceramics program is excellent and good for all ages and abilities. I was a true beginner when I started classes, and my husband was an experienced potter - great program for both of us. Dont miss the holiday craft sale in December. And if you have children, the summer arts camp is outstanding. If you havent been there in a while, be sure to check it out.

I sent my grandson to the summer art camp and he loved it! They also have a wonderful pre-camp that starts early for young ones and kids who get out of school early. They also have other great programs like a theater, an art gallery and plenty of great classes. Highly recommended.

I just moved to Philadelphia and was happy to find a community art center complete with theater so close to my home. I had the chance to sample the theater for their play The Insanity of Mary Girard. The play was excellent, very few props and a cast of talented actors and got me thinking about that time period when women were at the mercy of their husbands. In addition it was a BYO theater and I was able to have a beer with my snacks AND free parking!

Allens Lane Art Center is a gem in the community. They offer art classes, dance classes, ceramics programs, a Vison Thru the Arts program that is really amazing AND a very unique intimate theater experience where you can bring your own dinner and drink and enjoy during the shows. Multiple shows throughout the year and totally reasonable, especially if you subscribe.

Well maintained. Fun for everyone. Excellent programs. Plenty of room for the dog to run and kids to play.
