Facilities? Lovely trees. 2 ponds. Must be more exciting in Winter not at 93°. Hood shade trees. If youre going to have a park, put in some outhouses at least.
Great place to hand out with family. Grab a bit from Cyds and play in the sand trap. Alot of potential for this park.
My family took family pictures at Donovan park with Kelsie Photography. The grounds were clean and well maintained.
This former golf course has been converted into an open park with a 5k cross country track for running and walking paths to enjoy a pond and native prairie restoration. When youre tired from a walk, grab a drink at Cyds, a restaurant in the park.
Very pretty and peaceful place to picnic, take the dog for a walk or go for a run.Cyds restaurant on site is very overpriced. A very small salad and small drink was $21.
Cyds in the Park has a great atmosphere....outside, lights, music, bags, Jenga, fire pit. Food is delicious! The only negative is....our waiter wouldnt accommodate our table of 8 with separate checks.
Well kept and beautiful at sunset. Not much in the way of hiking trails but good for picnicking and sports
Awesome gem in the middle of the city plus a quirky restaurant
Perfect for an afternoon or evening walk! There are lots of local food and drink establishments adjacent to the park in Junction City and Kellar Station. And of course, Cyds is right off of the parking lot.
My favorite park in the Peoria area! Over 100 acres of wooded land, with plenty of space to spend hours exploring. My dog loves it there too! Added bonus of a lovely restaurant called “Cyds” with outstanding food and drinks.
Very nice park, liked the Tonka trucks and the observatory!
Golf course turned into park like setting.
This is a really nice park. The scenery is absolutely stunning. This is a great place to go on walks and just relax
Lovely picnic dinner location with friends.
Great place to take a stroll or walk a dog. There is an observatory for star gazing and a nice restaurant.
CXT IN KELLAR STATION IS A GREAT PLACE ALWAYS GREAT COFFEE
Should change the name to Deadwood Park since there are so many dead trees.
I liked this spot better as a golf course, but theyve done a nice job of converting it into a hiking and cross-country site, with the greenery and hills still in place from its former life. While it lacks the amenities of other local parks, there are some picnic tables for those who want to make a meal out of a visit, and theres also the observatory, with its limited hours. Finally, theres Cyds, a decent midrange restaurant and bar in the former golf clubhouse.
Im glad the old clubhouse/proshop has been converted into a restaurant, and that they keep open the outside restrooms for public use. There is lots of area for walking our dogs, and places to fish, and to get away from noisy streets.Since Im not a golfer, I wont complain about the loss of it, but it does seem like another increment in the downward slide of Peoria. But as I say, they (i.e. Peoria Park District) have turned it into a large, open park with an excellent restaurant and an observatory, so good for them!
Our dogs absolutely love walking the paths here and were eagerly watchingthe native restorations
Great place for walking the dog and spending time with the wife
Its a nice park with a large parking lot and its home to Cyds. I hear there is disc golf course there but I havent seen or tried it. So take a bike ride on the Rock Island Trail to Donovan park, have lunch at Cyds, and dessert at Sweet CeCes to round out a nice afternoon.
First time to eat at Cyds restaurant. Very popular place it seems. Had a salmon burger and slaw. Very noisy, since the walls/windows reflects the sound back. Hard to carry on a conversation.
Donovan park is a great place to go for a walk. It use to be a golf course so it had large open space. There is a great restaurant there called Cyds to eat at and the restrooms are located outside of Cyds for the public.
Glad that this was turned into a green space / park. Even being right in the middle of the city, if you go into the park far enough you loose the street sounds and it is nice and quiet. It is close enough to the house to run up quick with the kids and take the dog for a walk. Its never really busy so there is ample parking.
It was lovely! But one note: I am very allergic to grass when it touches my skin especially around my ankles, and the grass was a little too long for my liking. But I do understand that Id is a big area a of grass and it is more efficient to cut it longer. But otherwise I love the park and I think it has bee upkept very nicely.
Love Cyds! Best food in town.
Love this park. Great views
Ruby: I had a beautiful cheese plate.Cyds is inside a renovated former municipal golf course. Very nice. Food was fresh and flavorful. The turkey club was excellent, as was the chili.Cyd (owner and head chef) was kind enough to come out and tell us about the different cheeses on the cheese plate and ask how our meals were. Very friendly and passionate person :)Jami: classic BLT with a basil mayo twist. Tomato bisque soup was dreamy.
Huge green open space- very dog friendly (pet should be on lead) but awesome if youre looking for a park without set trails or boundaries. Bonus: theres a small but awesome observatory! (Think a personal planitarium)
Awesome place to have some relaxation and a walk. There is also a track for cycling. Huge lawn to have some activities. Kids would definitely love this place. Surprise is that there is a coffee shop and restaurant in the middle of the park. We went there with family and kids had fun. Definitely a recommendation when ur at Peoria.
Great food great service clean
Great place to relax... Fly a kite.... Or walk a trail/path
Was better as a golf course but love Cyds
A great place to go for a walk. Bring your own food, because the cafe is only meant for rich people. $5 for a pb&j
It has a bar and an Observatory. Tons of space to play. It has a sand pit where kids can play with dump trucks.
Great park with walking paths, wildlife, and lots of grass.
Peaceful. Big park. Use to be a golf course Very clean.
Went to Cyds. Nice luncheon
One time golf course turned into a park. In the summer the astronomical observatory is open.
Really wide open spaces. Great scenery. Close to a bike trail. Got Cyds for food now. Great location.
Was not there. Just drove by it.
This park was recently a golf course and has one sand trap for practicing with your clubs. It has no paths. It is a mix of mown areas and naturalized areas. There are picnic tables mostly around the only parking lot. There arent playgrounds at this time. It is a good spot for cross country skiing when there is a few inches of snow. It can be a pleasant walk. It fills the need for a green space, but at this time isnt one you would travel to. Three small ponds do attract a few waterfowl.Update May 2018: The practice green has been removed. Tables are more scattered around the park. A restaurant called Cyds has opened a shop and will soon open a full restaurant in the old clubhouse.
Really pretty and relaxing
Healthy food
That time of the year and a beautiful park
Just walking the Rock Island trail and blessed with these beautiful flowers along the way
Cyds is a top 100 hamburger n specialty foods restaurant just opened there. They also have a great food market, they make everything there n plus great outside seatin
Nice Park to visit and have a walk.
Great place for a walk in the city.
Bike & walking trail
Very good food.
Great place to visit
The restaurant here, Syds, has good food and top notch service, and is licated in attractive setting. Prices her run a tad high.
Svc and food good. Plenty of outdoor seating.
I tried the bike path, it is nice but there was some construction going on, so had to be careful.
It was busy and there was a wait for a table, but the food was worth the wait.
Why does it smell like dead fish???
Formerly Leo Donovan Golf Course (and Northmoor Golf Course before THAT), this park is now frequented by many professional photographers, drone-users, treasure-hunters using their metal detectors, XC Skiing (on groomed trails when conditions allow), cyclo-cross bike riders, and those using the Northmoor Observatory. The first low-key development as the park changed from golf, was the creation of a 5K Cross Country running course, (and a shortened 2 mile version) built as an Eagle Scout project with donated labor and materials. Many local high school and grade schools use this for both training and competition. In early to mid-2018, Cyds Gourmet Kitchen will be opening a restaurant/Cafe in the former golf clubhouse. They have planned their business to be in harmony with the ambience of the park, and will indeed contribute to future park enhancements.
Golf course that is now a depressing park. You can walk, but not as scenic as other parks in Peoria.
Used to be Donovan Golf Course, but that closed in late 2014. Now its a park with a neat observatory in the lower south side.
Well maintained park. Great place for walks :)
It was dark but ok
Beautiful green space in the middle of the city
Beautiful atmosphere!

We went there to to family photos with an expensive photographer, but when we showed up the grass hadnt been touched in God knows how long, is was very unkempt and disappointing.
