Detweiller Park

Beautiful park with lots of space. Good for family picnics. No electricity or bathrooms during COVID, and the shelters are currently available to whomever arrives first.

Beautiful and peaceful park. Plenty parking, super clean bathrooms, vending machines and picnic tables. Come along for a beautiful meditation time, walks and much more.

This park is just so good for whatever you want to do. Family picnic? Go here. Pick up soccer/football game? Here. Quick rugged hike? Here! Fun playground for the kiddos? Yup, that’s here too.The only downside is that it’s so popular there are ALWAYS lots of people. But it’s a big enough place that it doesn’t really matter.

I fly my drones here when I need to calibrate and get the feel for the camera and controls.Spread out parking and even when someone else is there you have your own space. Post covid it great to get a little fresh air and some sun.

We went here for the annual Pride picnic which was great. Although these are pictures of the pavillion are not the best part. This park has great hiking trails, creeks, animals and nature. Theres some pretty killer up steep hill trails and moderate slopes. Great place for the family.

Very clean lots of garbage can spread out around the grounds. Great place to have lunch breaks.

Detweiller Park is beautifully maintained. I love that I cam bring my dogs to hike the trails!

It was great it was a beautiful day out me and my fiance took a stroll we enjoyed it very much.

I really enjoyed the event that was held there but I did not care for the parking situation nor, and more importantly, did I care for the no doors on the stalls of the womens bathrooms! Frankly its horrifying to have to go to the bathroom and have people coming in while youre sitting there naked on the toilet for all to see. Very startling!

Great Park to get some exercise. Excellent police presence. The road that loops around the park is 2.5 miles in length. If you walk/run the loop look out for cars especially the texters. I have not done any trail hiking yet but the trail entrances have maps posted at them.

One if my favorite places in the Peoria area. There is so much to do here and it is a very scenic park!!!

This park is a lovely place for any event. I love eating my lunch there. The grounds are kept up very well. Events are also held there. Its peaceful. Road noise is in the distance but doesnt distract from nature. Lots of greenery. Playground equipment for kids. Plenty of space to picnic, run, and rest/relax.

Always love to go here. Whether to play or for a hike.

The XC meet today was excellent. Police from all departments did a fine job keeping pedestrian and vehicular traffic safe and calmed. A beautiful day at an exceptional facility. Keep up the great work Peoria!

Excellently maintained trails, has a public sledding hill and 3 shelters in the park.

Massive park . Lovely drive round it. Very clean toilets etc. Could only find one small play park which wasnt great compared to play parks back home in UK. But worth a visit if looking picnic walks etc

We had our family reunion at the Dogwood Shelter. The kids loved the woods and the playsets. We had a grill and electricity

Super secret! Park ACROSS the street at the old golf course. Easy in and easy out!

Great place for big groups who would like to have a picnic or hike. They have some grills in picnic areas and bonfire. Playground areas also for the kids.

We were there to hike the trails, and we were not disappointed.

Very big park nice clean restrooms near the front by the parking lot. I suggest if you see a park police officer, talk to him about what you want to do and he will help you pick a park for your needs.

Fantastic hiking trails to CAMP Wakonda

We loved our time at the Wildlife Park. We found lots to do and very low rates for all of it. Where can you stay overnight in a train for under $100.00? This was a great mini vacation for our family. We visited for the Olde English Faire and it was well set up. Lots of neat kiosks with themed merchandise and plenty of shows to see. Fun costumes to admire as well. The highlight was the joust. Fun play area with swings, a rope web to climb, and an adjacent stream.

A great place for all manner of sports and outdoor activities. There are ample soccer fields, miles of hiking trails, the high school state finals cross country course, and fields for rugby or football. The trails are well maintained and sign-posted, and my family enjoys hiking here year round. If you are looking for a place to take a walk or watch a sporting event, Detweiler Park is a great place.

Great trails but easy to get lost. I highly recommend taking pictures of the maps so you have a decent idea of where you are. There are also playgrounds, soccer fields and so much more.

Nice large park, the parts I went to were well taken care of. Surprised at the play structure, wasnt expecting anything so nice. Roads are a little rough, but not impassible

Huge and well taken care of! The Moose Shelter and the field next to it were perfect for our karate dojo picnic and workout.

Gorgeous scenery, especially up in the hills. Also a great venue for the State Cross Country meet. Just wish theyd find a better parking situation!

My favorite park in the Peoria area. I recommend the area around Sled Hill.

Such a beautiful park, especially in the fall. Its obviously a great place to run, with flat terrain in the valley portion of the park.Definitely the best course for cross country in the state of Illinois!
