I love the classes here. It is clean. Staff is friendly. However their cardio equipment selection is weak and always crowded. They only have 2 fully functional elipiticals, which are a very popular machine. They dont listen to feedback and say they have other machines that are similar those machines are not similar and hurt your knees and feet. I can never get on the elliptical because there is always someone on it for longer than 30 to 60 mins and they dont use the proper one with or without the arm movement function. They need to expand their cardio machine options for the amount of members they have signed up at this facility. It appears they are not equip for the growth of Parker and requests and need of the long time members.

Reading the comments, most of the negatives seem to be related to the pool and the staff being absolutely awful. I have to agree. The facility itself is great. It is just too bad that the staff is totally rude and unaccommodating. I was told at the front desk that you pay at the end. Apparently, this is not the case. The child care center staff came to find us getting changed in the locker rooms and demanded we immediately head up front to pay the $3.25 we used for child care. Thankfully, my child and I were mostly clothed at that point and we were able to urgently make our way up front to pay. FYI I WAS NOT TRYING TO STEAL $3.25 from you!!!! I tried to pay up front but was not allowed to. And I then proceeded to let people know we would be back after the pool. Such a horrible experience!!!!

I love our recreation Center. There are so many organized fitness classes to choose from and when I go in the morning between 8:00am and 9:00am there is always a treadmill open in the cardio fitness area. The childcare workers are organized and responsive and they will text you right away if your child had an issue they cant resolve.

SHOULD HAVE NEVER WASTED MY MONEY. Came here to swim with my friends and had a very unpleasant experience. When we first came to the counter I gave an older man 15 dollars for my friend and I to swim. The total obviously came out to 12 dollars after I paid he blankly stared at us for a minute telling us to go. We had to ask him for my 3 dollars back and he questioned himself saying he gave it to me. I got my money and we went to the pool to find out swim team had taken over most of the main lane pool. We then were told to wait till 5:00 for swim team to leave and we could use the diving board and such. We waited till 5 to find out ANOTHER SWIM TEAM WAS COMING. I pay to use this pool and the front desk was completely unaware that swim team even practiced in the summer time. They should have a scheduled time in the morning for swim teams to come and not during the day that paying customers came to use. We were constantly getting yelled at for VERY minor things such as sitting down on ledges or swimming back to the rock wall. Very upsetting how this business is run by power hungry teenagers just waiting for someone to mess up to blow the whistle. We were also kicked out of the therapy pool for just relaxing in a corner by a swim instructor not even a lifeguard who clearly saw us get in. Never coming back here very disappointed.

You will be unappreciated for your loyal patronage, no matter how many years you have had a goodstanding lifetime membership. Their communication and accountability is seriously lacking, as well as their ability to understand, diffuse, and resolve members complaints. Not to mention we have had horrible experiences at the outdoor OBrien pool when the young staff and manager on duty were extrememly rude and treated us like our concerns were ludacris. They sound like robots on here every time they respond to a bad review, not genuinely personable or accomodating by any means. You are treated as no one of particular interest or importance to them. Instead of giving longtime, loyal patrons a second look or a memorable greeting, you recieve a smile in your face while we dont give two cents about you in reality attitude. Very unprofessional and unproductive in the whole scheme of things, and notably, the management seem to form an iron wall against anyone who solicits them for resolute discussion regarding concerns that would normally have a simplistic solution. As a local business owner myself, I am more than dissapointed with my overall experience with the staff, the facility itself gets a better rating. (Still, it needs a hot tub lol) There may actually be instances where leniency is warranted, as hard as that might be for them to fathom....

We are members of this rec center currently and we enjoy it, for the most part. Pools are huge and fun for all. Theyre ALL too cold, though. My kids lips are blue and teeth are chattering every time we swim. (And no kids allowed in the therapy pool.. more on that below.) No hot tub. The gym is well equipped. The field house is great but offers no childcare, which limits our use of it.*There is no running track. The Field House has a running track but no childcare. This is a huge bummer.*The lifeguard staff is OVERWHELMING!!! They breath down your neck and blow the whistle at every move your kids make. Once they told me my 3.5 year old in full floaties had to remain at arms length with me at all times in the kiddie pool. My husband hates the pool because the lifeguards go way overboard. Youll see this in many other reviews.*Kids arent allowed in the therapy pool. Not only this, but during parent-tot time, the kids can only be 3 and under. So my 1 and 3 year old can go in it every so often but my 5 year old is never allowed. And only one child allowed per adult... so I can never even do parent-tot time having 3 little kids when I can only take one in the therapy pool with me! There needs to be an open swim time for EVERYONE at least a couple times per week.

I am rating the gym/staff since I do not use the pool not do I have children. Overall the gym is decent, they have a wide array of different machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. Its a big enough area to accommodate many. Although I must say that I prefer working out at the Fieldhouse, the staff is kinder at that location. The staff at the Rec Center have been very cold and rude at times. This place can get crowded at the usual times (5pm) but is still accessible and well maintained.

Every day I come in to work out and swim. I cant say enough about how much I love this place. I have been coming for the past 18 years. The lifeguards are outstanding. They have helped me in a very professional manner. They always enforce the rules and seem like they are having a good time doing it. The pool is always available for me to swim in and the staff explains everything if an area is closed. The front desk staff is very nice and understanding of all concerns I have had. Would be amazing with a 5 star, but the kid just yelled at everyone and the other employee had to tell her to stop yelling at everyone. She (young lifeguard) ticked off a group of 11 that was there who said they had enough of her and said they were just going to leave. My husband and I went to read the rock wall rules and she kept yelling at us saying only one person is allowed. Hopefully she felt dumb when my husband told her we were only trying to read the rules.

If you decide to use a monofin for your swim work out think again. Parker Rec lifeguards will not allow you to use them because they think you are pretending to be a mermaid. Im a full grown adult. Lifeguards claim they have never seen a monofin or heard about them before. The use of monofins is not mentioned in the rules but apparently the head lifeguard can make up rules.

The facilities are fine and the price is good, but the staff are difficult. I got a family membership so my son could practice his lacrosse wall ball in the facility as well as workout. Just about every time we tried to do wall ball one of the staff would question what we were doing or ask us to move or not do it at all (very inconsistent between how the staff managed it). Then when it came to working out, my son (who is 13 and meets their age requirements) could only use the running track during certain times of the day (even though the track is empty most of the time) and he was always asked his age and if he had completed the fitness orientation (which he had but I guess they dont update in their system). Just the constant hassle made me wonder what the purpose/vision of the center is and I became so frustrated that I canceled my membership.

I have been a member for a while. I cant wait for my membership to be over. So far, I had no issues. The staff members are not cordial. I usually do not care about that. Today, I had an issue and went to get some help at the front desk. I was very disappointed by the level of service. Basically, the front desk staff had to take a long breath every time I had a question. I mean, come on, I am not asking you to solve world problems like hunger, poverty, famine and stuff like that. Its a front desk job. That is what you signed up for. Moreover, the equipment are old, not a lot of room to work out, and the courts havent been cleaned in a while. Swimming pool is very dirty too. At least, the people who come to work out are respectful. Should have gone to 24 hour fitness.

My boyfriend and I were here for the first time last weekend, and it was not a pleasant experience. The only reason why Im giving 2 stars is because the front desk staff was friendly and the locker rooms were clean and convenient, equipped with changing rooms and private shower rooms. The lifeguards here are TERRIBLE. They pretty much ruined our experience here. They are power-hungry teenagers who think theyre untouchable because someone made the mistake of giving them a whistle. They would stand around STARING at people with their whistles already in their mouths, just waiting for someone to do something slightly questionable, so they could have the chance to blow it. This had more to do with being bossy, than it ever had to do with safety. Let people have fun! Its a pool, not a church.I am an adult, not a child, and I know perfectly well how to behave at a pool. However, my boyfriend, and I had the whistle blown at us for simply going up the stairs to the slide together! We had no intention of going down the slide together, again, because we are adults and we know better. Another time I had the whistle blown at me for sitting on the steps while watching my boyfriend climb the rock climbing wall. What I was doing wrong there, Im still not sure. I was literally just sitting there. We were here for about an hour, and I probably heard that damn whistle blow over 20 times. We finally left because we couldnt take it anymore. Im usually a pretty relaxed person, but this just annoyed me. Never in my life have I been to such a strict pool.

Overall it is a pretty good gym. The front desk staff doesnt force memberships like many other fitness companies which is something other gyms should take note on. However, I am very disappointed with their pool and front desk. While swimming, I had accidentally swallowed a bit of the water in the pool which is very uncommon of me to do and it was DISGUSTING. Its as if these guys never clean the pool on a regular basis. I will never swim in that pool again. If you have a membership, beware. The pool staff is not very friendly, not to mention very immature. The lifeguards seem to rush you out of the pool come closing time which should not be happening when you have a membership. The pool needs work big time. The front desk is just as bad. These people make you feel unwelcomed and give you a look as if they are annoyed that you are signing in at the gym. They need to seriously consider taking a training session on how to greet their members/customers. Very embarrassing.

My boyfriend and I went swimming and we were consistently lectured by a teenage lifeguard. We played water-tag and got yelled at to stay away from the diving board ( we were right next to the edge of the pool in the deep end as far from the diving board as we could get without walking on the bottom). We got close to talk and were lectured no pda when my boyfriend pecked me on the cheek. We got told no splashing when we were goofing around and avoiding splashing other patrons. A class started up so we went to the shallows and sat relaxing in the water, but we were told that if we were going to be in the pool, then we needed to be swimming. Were both adults and swimming in 24 inches of water isnt really swimming: its scraping your hands and knees on the rough bottom of the pool.We got tired of being told off continually by a teenager, so we got changed and went to the front desk. When I asked for a manager, the teenager running the desk said there was none available. She asked what was wrong, and I proceeded to explain that the lifeguard had no business harassing us. She told us that he was trying to keep everyone safe. I explained to her that a peck on the cheek, or us relaxing in the shallow end to wait for a class has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with a teen on a power-trip. I told her that we would not be returning and I asked for a refund since we found their service and staff to be much less than satisfactory. She gave me the refund and we will never go back.Hiring teenagers to run a rec center sounds like a business that is more concerned with saving a few bucks in paychecks than the actual safety and happiness of its patrons.

She will give you a set day for lessons and then shes texting to skip days and then she tells you shes unavailable for next month and will contact you. She needs to not waste peoples time and just be honest that she either doesnt want to give your kids lessons or she shouldnt be an instructor in the first place.

I would compare it to dealing with the dmv. The workers at the front never acknowledge their guests, they seem annoyed that youre even there, taking away from their time talking to one another. And if you forget your id, rest assured they will remind you (rather rudely) that they will charge for a new one (even if it takes them seconds to look you up).
