Very cool history and site bridge floor is rotten if u try to walk across it be careful I did go across it to take pictures it needs cleaned up around from the looks its a party spot from the discarded clothes and beer bottles
If you go there you will see a couple
Used to be kool when I was a kid. Never knew the name until now. I heard it was haunted
Cool little hidden gem for a quick stop . However didnt seem spooky or haunted at all. Overall a neat stop
I drove across this bridge my first time in 1979. It was one-lane and when you met a crowd, people would alternate one car north, one car south. Every car I owned from 79 to 2000 made a trip across this bridge. I had a Ram 2500 and that was the scariest I had to drive across the bridge. You could hear the timbers creak and the metal groan. Mrs. Collier, the lady who lived just ahead would put out a massive Christmas display and I stopped a few times and talked to her. She passed and more changes came. Kids vandalized and burned her home down. Then came Leon Smith Parkway and they closed the bridge. Oxford began to develop the park and closed off where I came to walk my dogs. I would park off of the parkway and walk it anyway. Choccolloco Park and Oxford Commons opened and ended an era, but the new park became a great place for Oxford. Driving across the bridge was a rite of passage and it was creepy because of the groans and creaking, but it was beautiful. I love Oxford Alabama. Life may change, but it lends opportunity for new memories.
Nice walking area with some historical plaques along the walk way; and it is beautiful.
From the lore to history, this is a familiar place.
Beautiful Spot. Not many people walking the track on a Sunday morning so it was pretty much secluded and a good place to clear my thoughts.
I cant believe this is the same bridge I drove over as an a child! Back then it didnt seem all that scary, but now, you couldnt pay any amount of money to go over that thing! But its beautiful none the less!!
Historical/Haunted(?). Most go to enjoy Choccolocco Park that is home to this old Bridge no longer in use.
Its okay
I went there to get spooked but nothing happened and then i heard the splash of what sounded like a toddler sized object fall in the water off the bank so i got that going for me.
