A serious disappointment. Not many animals there in the first place. Looked like the place hadnt been cleaned in ages. Spider webs all over all the railings around the animal enclosures. Algae almost completely covered the large pond in the middle of the zoo. So glad I didnt have to pay money to get in this place or I would have asked for a refund. On a positive note, the animals did appear to be well fed. The only reason I didnt give this review one star is because I got to see some elk today and a turkey up close. Hmmm...I dunno...two stars still seems pretty generous, though.
One of my favorite spots to hang out at in Oshkosh! Love to see all the animals and the staff are very friendly. Plus its free to get in so what do you have to lose?
Last minute decision to stop here during a long road trip & we had a lot of fun. I was surprised to find out theres no fee! The kids favorite part was the goats. Will definitely visit again
Always fun visiting the Menominee Park Zoo. So thankful for this gem in our community. Many generations of my family have enjoyed this Zoo. Thank you!
Great for a short walk around the park looking at some animals. It was free when we went, but I think that is due to funding. That could change. There were elk, an old wolf, otters, different birds, lemurs, bobcats, sheep, llamas, and ponies. Im sure I missed something but there was plenty to see. I was able to scratch the head of one of the sheep. There is food you can attempt to feed the llamas and sheep for a quarter. Overall, fun and pretty for about an hour.
Love the animal, the employees are nice, and theres plenty of shade and resting spots along the way. Ive always loved this zoo even on my hundredth walk through.
Awesome place for all! Great docking and beach and playgrounds and even a little zoo! Best picnic spot within 100 miles for sure! Way to go Oshkosh!
Was good up until we got to the badger exhibit. He very obviously did not like having people near him and was very upset and territorial. It made my family and others upset and was very disheartening..... I would suggest not putting animals along the walking trail until properly domesticated. Nobody wants an upset animal who’s very clearly not happy yelling at them as they walk. Ruined the trip.
Super cute free little zooWonderful big playgroundHuge beach and picnic area
Great fishing spot, place for kids and doggies to swim, plus a free zoo. One of my favorite places not to mention a bagillion pokestops ;)
Great place to hang out with loved ones, or, if you dont love them, punt em into Lake Winnebago.
Pretty nice for a free zoo. Plus after the zoo you can head over to little Oshkosh (play area) or the beach. The biggest hit is the petting area. The kids love to feed and pet the goats, sheep, donkey and mini horse. Today the wolf was walking around. Didnt see any otters. Got to get right up to the turtle (tortous).
Great for little kids and a fun summer outing. Admission is free, so its definitely worth the cost of admission.
It’s a small zoo, not too many animals, but still a very good place to spend time on a sunny nice weekend. Or even to take a walk on a quiet day. Its FREE. Also spend time on the beautiful Winnebago lakeside, which is a great place just next to the zoo. We enjoyed chatting with the zoo staff too, who were all nice and socializing with visitors. So many families and kids were present.
Nice zoo for a short trip small ice cream/concession stand, has some minor flaws but is also free so cant complain. They are currently raising funds for improvement so dont forget to donate before you leave!
Nice little zoo and park plus a good swimming area great for small kids or budget conscious.
Kids play area (Little Oshkosh) has been replaced with wonderful new equipment!!! It is amazing for kids of all ages, had 5 kids with ages 4-15 and they all wanted to stay & play longer!!! Very Nice!!!
Very happy we decided to stop in. My first time here was spectacular. There wasn’t a lot of people there, so I didn’t feel bad taking my time. It’s a cute little zoo with huge future potential. The future plans for this zoo look amazing and will definitely get my donation along with more visits. Nice to bring the entire family for a quick zoo visit. We spent around 30 minutes here and didn’t spend a dime. Great addition to a lovely Saturday.
The grandkids loved the animals
Amazing little zoo and you cant beat the price. Donations welcome of course.
Not bad. Needs a better concession stand. They only sell hot dogs. A bit run down.
Kids have a lot of fun
They are making sure they dont exceed the max guests which I really appreciate. Also of course the kids loved it cuz its a zoo and I loved it cuz its a free fun place for the kids
The park itself was fantastic. Lots to do and great structures to play on. However the company that was there was horrible. It was a lit of teenage kids who were cussing and climbing inappropriately on things which was a great example for the you get children. There were also adults who were playing tag with their children which isnt bad except they were running around like maniacs, jumping fences, and nor being safe around the you get children at all. My daughter was playing in the toddler area and almost got run over twice by adults jumping fences and almost running into us. I will not go back to this park just based on that.
The celebration of lights is going on right now and it is absolutely worth the 10$ to see. If you take your time, Stop and watch the light shows and tune in to the right FM station it could take up to 45 minutes to go through. Great time passer and activity for children. Heated bathroom are available also! If you stop in Santas workshop there are a lot of sets available for picture taking
SO MANY Great, fun memories at Menominee Park Playground, Zoo, and of course..... cant forget the many Train, water bicycle, canoe, and Whip rides! Always a good time!
I miss the prairie dogs... glad they found the missing tortoise. Monkeys (I think theyre not monkeys) always look sad and bored. Good walk and nice that its local. The zoo has had some major additions towards the end over the past few years. And Im happed to see the lion fountain still there after 35+ years. Could use cleaning more often, maybe get some volunteers? Some garbage blowing around and lots of droppings in cages. Lots. Still will return though. Fun still. Always drop a few dollars into the donation bins. Its worth it.
Love this place! Always said and always will say if I ever win the lottery Im going to give a lot of it to this place lol I know its a long shot but its deserving of it. Very friendly staff and just an all around great place to come for a walk and relax
Nice park, playground, relaxing, lots of shade and sunny areas. Nice docks you can sit and watch the Wildlife and can fish from!!
Love the park. Been going there all my life but the zoo? I’ll pass on.
Fun and great seeing all the animals. The first little guy this little turtle was an extra he was just walking along the path.
Fun for the whole family. Great place to visit. My kids just love this place.
Cute little zoo and the park nearby is a must visit. There is also a swimming beach right there.
A nice overall zoo with the park connected. This place is improving on the up keep of the animals. Cages looked quite small for some of the animals but highly recommend. Expect to spend no more than thirty minutes here. Free admission is a plus, with gift shop and visitors welcome center. Ideal for families with kids. No dogs allowed.
Its a nice time to go with family
Up for cusa very nice well-kept park the inside the bathrooms were nice lot cleaner than I thought they were going to be its a good fun park easy Parking
Always a fun little place to visit. The Halloween event was very fun.
Small wildlife center with well kept grounds. Had a pleasant outing with friends on a beautiful June afternoon.
One of my favorite places in Oshkosh as long as it isnt Lake fly week. :)
Great experience for the kids and i! Loved the LED Military Lightshow contribution! Turning on the radio to go along with the Lights was awesome!
Its a neat fun little zoo. Was very disappointed that I couldnt see the otters. The peacock was gorgeous.
Great place for a short or long visit. Nice play area for the kiddos.
Great little FREE zoo. Bring a donation when you can. Feed the animals. Watch for the amazing renovations and additions coming!
This zoo is small and theres mostly small animals. But the grounds are beautiful and its free admission so you cant really complain. Its an easy way to kill an hour or so.
Great place to take the kids for Free! They have the vey nice wooden playground right across from the Zoo and the Beach to swim as well!! Pack a cooler and make a day of it with the family! Only complaint would be not very many picnic tables, weve often just put blankets down and used that while kids swam and played!! Fun place something for all! Paved walkways which make it handicap accessible!
Very clean, well kept.
Beautiful well kept
Free family fun! A great location by an amazing park and beach!
A great day trip for the kids if you are on a budget. We packed a picnic lunch and spent time at the huge playground across from the zoo and then took our time walking through the zoo. Lots of signs up around the zoo mapping out new exhibits that they are busy building. Very much looking forward to coming back to check out all the new animals!! My kids favorite animals were all the box turtles in and around the pond and the talking Macaw bird.
Short, simple zoo.. Very small, but the park along the lake is nice
Nice little free zoo with some great future plans!
Cool place! Saw a lot of kids having a great time with otters, wolves, elk, and even some goats! Thanks to a generous contribution it was free!! Wish there was a little more staff to help give talks and what not but a great time anyways!
It is free admission due to the generosity of donors. Not a huge zoo but nice for families especially with little ones. Beautiful, natural park setting. Other activities available nearby including a swimming beach, miniature train rides & pedal rafts for rent.
Odd but there are no signs up as to where the animals are, most were missing. Only 50 allowed in so give yourself time and its sad but you cant see the animals right now.
Great place, they have a really nice zoo, which is free!! The park is huge and very nice. Lots of place for young children to play, run around, and explore!! Great place if youre in the area its worth a stop. If you have kids and you want to wear them out they have a bunch of play sets to keep them busy. Its also on the lake so it had great views! Very nice place!
It was so peaceful and cute and cant first free!!
Free to visit. The zoo is going to expand, once they get enough funding, through donations, to do so. There are many animals to visit. The one to look for, is Dash the tortoise... He roams around the zoo, having lots of fun. Dont forget to visit the Elk, or to feed the goats & Llamas. Lotsof other fun animals to visit. And near byis a beach you can swim in, & a beach house to change & shower in
Was awesome since new build.
As far as small zoos go, this one is cute and unique. Fun activities for children to partake in and lots of walk ways to travel on. The lemurs are the gem of this place right now.
Nice little place to walk around. Some of the animals werent out, but that can happen. Nice staff. Very friendly. My son had a nice time. We then went around the parking lot and had a train ride. Nice day!
While the park is fantastic and the animals deserve all 3 stars, I found the park in a state of neglect, with lakeflys all around and dead sheephead fish collecting at the shores of the lake inside the park. I was later told they died thanks to the AVS virus and obviously being sheephead, the locals didnt care very much, but the dead corpses of the fish stank up the place. The animals are adorable, but there werent very many attendants or keepers at the zoo and this is the only reason the Menominee Park Zoo gets 2 stars deducted from this rating.
Had a great time
The Menominee zoo is really fun places to go with your family or friends to have fun cuz the park is right next to it but one thing is that theyre not really good at taking care of their animals which theyre always hungry and no matter what they even though it says dont feed the animals some people bring food for them because they know that they are fed their habitats are sometimes too small because they get like these tiny little cages I can really get them anxious and just not good its not good to vegetarian / vegan standards which is a very sad thing because youre going to go to the zoo you want it to look clean nice with big cages with them to have food as much as they want but know theyre small cages with not much food and his dad isnt really taking care of the animals that well and like stuff that has happened in the past were like the cages like are easy to get through so yeah but it is a good zoo its a good family Zoo the local zoo that you can go to.
I love the zoo as much now as I did when I was a kid in the 1960s and the 1970s and the 1980s as a young adult. They are closed for the winter season and will be open to visitors again next spring and summer.
Had a great day at this park. Plenty of stuff to do with the family. It was definitely kept up better when I was a kid! Parks department is slacking a little bit
He cant beat free and the kids love this place. Sometimes well stop in even if were just taking a walk in the area. The monkeys and wolves are our familys favorites. Its also fun trying to find the tortoise roaming around the zoo freely.
This place feels stuck in time from 30 years ago and that’s not a good thing. The only saving grace is that at least it’s free. What used to be a vibrant zoo with admittedly small cylinder cages now is mostly void space with a few lonely animals. Has the feeling of a 75% empty shopping mall. The goat feeding area is a nice island of normal and the lion head water fountain is classic, but this place could be so much more. Seems the county may have put the money in the amazing playground across the parking lot. The train ride around back for $1.25 is pretty cool though.
Exhibits have gotten worse over the years the animals just look sad. The enchantment might still be there for the kids, and it is free, but if you do go to a zoo I would recommend making the investment and going to Milwaukee
Beautiful place for a 20 minute stroll
Great place to spend a day!
Always a great fun free place to go. Beach and park across street.
Take a drive thru at night......You will not be disappointed......just beautiful......stop and listen to the music on your radio as the lights dance !!
Fairly small, but the owners are planning an expansion as seen on a map near the entrance. Admission is completely free, but small gifts such as stuffed animals and food can be purchased for an amount of money >$20. Some of the animals we saw included lemurs, bobcats, miniature donkeys, elk, and an assortment of birds. They also have wolves and otters, but they were hiding when we went.
Great park with incredible views of the lake. Good selection of animals to see and great for all ages. To top it all off... its free.
This city-run zoo is modestly sized and might not have the biggest state-of-the-art enclosures, but it offers free admission and does a great job educating the public about wildlife and domesticated animals. An excellent place to spend some time learning about animals.
Great park... the zoo is free its small but cute.
Very cute place. Small, but humble selection of animals. It surprised me the variety of animals they kept at this zoo. The only thing that bothered me was that the size of the bird enclosures seemed much too small for the birds to roam and be happy. Otherwise, it is great. Free family fun!
SO much fun here at this little zoo! they have some really fun animals here! I HIGHLY suggest you check it out if you are in this area!! :)
Ive been going to this place for years. One of the only reasons I have such a low rating is because of the wolves. Their fur was matted and they both could hardly walk. They look so sad. The water was absolutely disgusting as well. I highly doubt they have adequate drinking water. I have never seen wolves that miserable. I grew up going to a wild game farm regularly like 2 to 3 times a week. This is not how you take care of animals. The lemurs had an actual ladder like an aluminum one in their habitat.I get that its a free thing but come on. I cant believe they havent gotten animal neglect charges.
Its okay if you like very small zoos with very few animals. Nephew animals Lisa where in enclosures that look like small closets. Kind of sad actually. And no birds on the lake whatsoever (???). If you have 35 minutes to spare check it out.
My mother sent me on the mission to bring her home a monkey. I was unable to do so because they dont have any monkeys! I grabbed a lemur instead and ran fast. Very fast. Besides that slight hiccup, it was a fun experience and I highly recommend the Menominee Park Zoo.
We are extremely lucky to have a zoo, concession stands, multiple playgrounds, baseball, volleyball, pavilions and a train all located in one park to enjoy in Oshkosh, WI.
Love this place!!!! Have family get together at one of the shelters last weekend, couldnt have been nicer. Beautiful and peaceful.
The location is very convenient so whoever thought of having this little zoo with just enough animals for kids to specially be excited did a very good job
Close to home. Very nice swimming and picnic area. The park is kept clean as well. Great entertainment at a decent price.
Cant wait to see once all the construction and additions are done.
I found it to be a wonderful place to spend the night afternoon it was relaxing watching the waves in the water. Good company and Good Times
Dont miss out on the drive thru xmas light show....amazing!!
Very nice, albeit smaller, zoo. Can talk a leisurely walk through it and spend a few hours. Great play area for kids.
I went there today as well as a couple other times. The wolf looked absolutely miserable and could barely walk. I felt SO bad for it. This zoo does not give the big animals enough space or enough care that they need at all. Half the animals look miserable and just not taken care of at all. Definitely shouldn’t be open if they can’t take care of animals. Will definitely be looking into animal control place that will cut her investigate the problem here. No wolf of animal should look like they are being starved.
It was a great family get away for a very inexpensive day. Zoo is free. Took a train ride and had a great family afternoon fun!
The Christmas lights are always great. The death of Sawdust Days and little Oshkosh are tragedies that Im finding hard to overcome when it comes to spending money in Oshkosh though.
It only took about 30 minutes to walk through and not much was out, but it was free so definitely worth the price. Great place to take small kids
