Nutcracker in the Castle is a 10 ☆ event!!! You and your family will be delighted by each room in the castle as the story of the timeless ballet unfolds! Get there before the tours fill up!
The Paine Art Center hosts some of the most amazing exhibitions that are seen anywhere. All displayed throughout a beautifully preserved historic mansion. I personally had especially enjoyed the Tibetan monks spending a week doing a sand mandala in the newly built conservatory. The gardens are expansive and beautiful as well. The carriage house and conservatory building is newly updated and is an amazing venue for having anything from a wedding reception to an award ceremony.
Lovely. I went here for Nutcracker in the Castle. However, I have one issue. Why is there a “goodie shop” in a castle? It does not seem very authentic. Luckily there is nothing of interest in there, so it does not concern me. My favorite part is the Café. I ordered a hot chocolate and a cupcake, which met my aesthetic expectations, along with being delectable. They gave me a free glittery mustache prop, which I did not understand but appreciated the gesture nonetheless. The decor is beautiful, I love the Nutcracker books around the castle. It gives a touch of elegance. The stairs are well decorated, the two that are next to each other have an elegant curve and give the room a beautiful symmetric feel. Overall, the Nutcracker in the Castle event was very relaxing and a good, memorable experience.~Modern Day Princess, Bailey
I went there for Nutcracker in the Castle and it was absolutely beautiful. The mice hunt was really fun as well.
Lovely mansion that is now a museum and art center. During the Christmas season they go all out, decorating the entire building with Nutcracker themed Christmas decorations and trees, with entertaining guides who seek to bring the story of Clara and the nutcracker alive. The cupcakes are also fantastic!
BEAUTIFUL VENUE! Absolutely stunning place to have your wedding ceremony and or entire event. Staff is so kind, dedicated and hard-working. The space is gorgeous, inside and out. So thankful we chose to work with them.
We did the gnome hunt. Had a lot of fun looking for them all. We were very glad to see all the precautions they were taking. Gardens in full bloom, very beautiful.
It was fun looking for the hidden gnomes. It is such a beautiful place inside and out. Staff and volunteers were very respectful of every and took sufficient precautions to keep people safe. Well worth going!
Love this ️ place. Beautiful house and gardens. Great exhibits. The current one is the Art Nouveau works of Mucha. Fantastic. Also a gnome hunt.
Every exhibit I have seen at The Paine over the years has been beautiful and thought-provoking. The mansion itself is gorgeous and so interesting at every turn. The gardens always have something new blooming or something new to explore. Most recently, the Alphonse Mucha exhibit was must-see! The exhibit was held over due to the pandemic. Tickets were timed, discounted and everyone wore masks.
Beautiful place! Excellent for a wedding Im sure! I was fascinated most by the flower pot kaleidoscope!
Beautiful mansion with an interesting history. During the holidays they go all out and decorate for christmas and put on the Nutcracker in the Castle. So fun!!
We visited the Paine for an outdoor wedding. Due to a recent bug invasion across the state the festivities were moved indoors. The wedding still went off beautifully and the facilities were quite impressive. What we were able to see during a small stroll of the gardens was a beautiful location with wonderful little hidden nooks and features. When the pesky mosquitoes leave well definately be going back.
Beautiful grounds! We took the kids to watch Midsummers Dream and it was just awesome. It took place outside and they interact with the kiddos who sit up front on mats. There is parking near by and it appears there is a lot to explore. We plan on going back to check it all out.
Despite going during the covid pandemic of 2020, I found that my experience was not in any way negatively affected. The house itself was kept in amazing condition! Very clean and well lit. The Mucha exhibit was well worth the drive for me as well. The gardens are also amazing. The weather was stellar and there was a variety of pollinating insects and flora! Highly recommend to anyone interested in nature or art.
A well melted legacy of Oshkosh and the bygone era of the American barons.Beautiful mansion and incredible exhibitions. Is a little museum that could
Went for Nutcracker at the Castle and it was awesome. First time going and will be back. Everyone working there was friendly. It was also decorated so nicely. The sugar plum cafe is not to be missed either as the cupcakes and hot chocolate were delicious and again decorated so cute. Cant wait to go back again next year.
We signed up for the Gnome Hunt. What fun and a great way to see the mansion and grounds. Hope they do it again!
Rooms of Blooms never disappoints- and tea after is sublime
Gorgeously decorated for Christmas! The Nutcracker was great too. We will definitely be back for a 3rd visit.
Beautiful grounds, very well done and expansive. Staff is very courteous and friendly, no hesitation to help if you need anything.
They always have amazingly beautiful displays inside and out. Its a perfect place for a photo shoot. A small fee gets you access to the whole property for photos accompanied by a staff member to prevent damage to the property and help keep any photo bombers at bay.
Really enjoyed my visit here, especially the garden!
Wonderful exhibits. Always something new to see. Membership is well worth it. They also have activities for children in the lower level. I cant say enough good things about it.
Beautiful historical mansion and stunning gardens. Friendly knowledgeable staff.
The Paine Art Center always has so much to offer no matter what the season. Whether its not cracker in the castle or the summer Gardens. Its a great place for a wedding.
Very beautiful place, so many beautiful Christmas trees!
Spring Fest was a nice day and I will be returning next year.
Loved the beautiful Rooms of Blooms! Gorgeous artwork and floral displays with the backdrop of richly decorated historic rooms.
Flower show was fantastic and art as well. Friendly volunteers. A beautiful sunny day spent with good friends...
Todays visit we took in the gardens...quite beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful. The Christmas decorations are beautiful, and if you can, see the Nutcracker In the Castle. Local ballerinas dance and the guide goes through a narrative in each room
It was a good time of year to see flowers in bloom.
The Gnome hunt was fantastic
Beautiful gardens. Loved the Tibetan exhibit! Check out the kaleidoscope in the gardens. Very cool.
LOVE the Nutcracker exhibit. This wonderful place is a dream and can really take you to another era.
Always a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Visited the beautiful Maker and Muse jewelry exhibit with a friend who had never been there. She loved the display, the house and the gardens. The staff is so friendly and helpful.
Beautiful! The gnome hunt was a blast, too!
Loved visiting for the Nutcracker at the Castle. The mansion was beautifully decorated and the dancers, orchestra, and story actor were great! Fun hour of entertainment.
A very beautiful place! We really enjoyed the Nutcracker at the Paine candlelight tour. It was a great family outing.
We enjoyed the Nutcracker tour! The rooms were beautiful!
Lovely art, in a gorgeous building! I highly recommend checking it out, its a sight to behold
Without the gardens up for viewing this time of the year, it´s a bit of a short ride. Nice digs, have to say that.
Not to be missed, wonderful performances beautifully decorated, great local talent
I last went during The Nutcracker exhibit the Paine does in the winter. The house is beautifully decorated in different scenes from the story and each room tells another part of the story with big story book pages for visitors to read along. The Paine Art Center is great to visit all year long and also makes for a truly beautiful wedding venue.
The pain arboretum is one of the most unique mansion and gardens you will see. I have traveled quite a bit and not seen anything quite like this the architecture the wood panels just the fact that it was built in 1927. they also have special exhibits from time to time theyre just opening the Tiffany jewelry exhibit. The gardens are wonderful walk very relaxing and some of the best Ive seen. If you want to take a step back to a grander time this is the place you want to visit
Always puts on excellent exhibits
Great experience. Went during the Nutcracker in the castle and it was very enjoyable. Very affordable.
Fun place to visit and explore.
Always interesting to go here. It is a great home with a sad story. Get there at the right time and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. In the spring they have a fantastic plants sale.
Last day for rooms in bl9om. Smells great and goes beautifully with the Paine collection.
This Mansion is one of the most beautiful maintained structures from the 1930s. It has some of the most unique interior decorations you will ever see. Whole walls hand carved. The gardens are beautiful and are very relaxing to walkthrough. The pain sets right across the street from the Oshkosh public museum so you can visit both at one time very easily. Admission to both if quite reasonable.
Wonderful Art Center. A must see when decorated for the holidays, all rooms take on a scene from the Nutcracker.
Very pretty mansion. Went for the nutcracker showing. Lovely christmas trees and beautiful decorations. Nutcracker experience great for kids
Great museum exhibition and lovely gardens.
Always an extremely neat place to visit - gardens in summer and the Christmas decorations in winter are stunning.
Extremely impressive building. The staff was very friendly and looked and acted as they enjoyed being there.
Very nice place to visit. Its great for photographers and even a date if you are into nature and fascinated in older times. Staff here are very polite and helpful. I will be coming back here again
Step back in time when opulence was king and decadence reigned. Great art work through out and in an amazing setting. The house and gardens are a must see!
I found myself pleased in so many ways! Need to return soon!
Lovely gardens. The interior the mansion is beautiful. Wonderful temporary exhibit of antique Tiffany jewelry.
Awesome gardens and historical house!
We love the paine. Such a beautiful place.
Beautiful mansion/museum and display during the Christmas season. Worth a visit especially with the little ones. Wonderful Nutcracker event.mask update. They follow your family around and they force 3 year olds to wear masks even though the CDC does not recommend until 5. Very messed up and uneducated choices this season
Beautiful! Cant wait to see it in Summer!
Very cool! Kind of pricy but pretty to look at and very detailed for those avid nutcracker fans
Always beautiful, perfect place for a wedding
The Nutcracker Experience was wonderful. My 5 year old granddaughter LOVED it.
Beautiful jewelry collection. The room displays are outstanding and period of the time.Wonderful gardens.
Great place for weddings in the spring
A little piece of history hiding in plain sight. Its worth going to at least one of the events, and a nice spot to bring friends from out of town/state for a more relaxed change of pace. I suppose I never spend much more than an hour or two here, so a day trip may not be appropriate, but it definitely is a nice way to round out a special day!
Great art exhibitions in an old beautiful mansion.
Toured the museum during the jewelry exhibit, well laid out beautiful displays. The architecture in this is also stunning.
A Lovely jewelery exhibit. Gardens were pretty. We got to do an art project even though we arent kids...nice of the volunteer to ask us!
Literally awesome place and love it, great place to roll a blunt, and bring friends and people with, creepy but cool aaf at night time, I dont recommend breaking in(jumping the fence by the bushes in the back since theres no cameras) but I cant stop you, after that go to Wendys, itll be a great night.
They recently had a gorgeous display a vintage jewelry. Lovely pieces!
Wonderful experience.
Attended the Nutcracker in the Castle at the Paine. A wonderful presentation in the beautifully decorated mansion centered around the story of the Nutcracker. Rude people feeling the need to video every square inch caused some issues and lessened the overall experience but it still gets 5 stars. Cant let ruse and stupid take away points from a great presentation.
Absolutely stunning. Wonderful experience.
The flower garden is wonderful. What a nice place to have a walk.
Beautiful museum and gardens. The Tiffany Treasures exhibit will be there through 9/23/18; it is fantastic. Many of the lamps are placed throughout the rooms of the house museum complementing the Paines permanent collection. The gardens were a delight to stroll through, we especially loved the curvy paths leading through shady and sunny beds of blooms. Truly a delightful visit.
Beautiful, engaging, seasonal exhibit based on The Nutcracker Suite. Self-guided or guided tours are available. The Sugar Plum Fairy Cafe is fun to eat at. All the people involved in bringing this show to life are wonderful.
Beautiful architecture, flowers, and history
Totally a magical place. Unbelievable architecture.
Nice place to take beautiful pictures.
We went there to see the nutcracker tour and the displays were just beautiful!
Wonderful exhibit and property! A true treasure of the Fox Valley!
Attended a beautiful wedding in a sunny September day at the Paine. Wedding attendance included admission to the museum where the current exhibit was a beautiful selection of Tiffany lamps and stained glass. Staff were most helpful and friendly. The grounds are beautiful. Recommend.
The flowers and grounds were gorgeous. I did not go inside the museum so I cant comment on that.
Magical in every way. The formal garden beds mirror the color palette of the Tiffany glass, the exhibition at the Paine until mid -September. The Paine Mansion was designed by an architect to be an English manor house, it was built before the Great Depression, with limestone from Minnesota, and as Mr. Paine was a lumber baron, the interior rooms showcase the artistry of the carpenters, in those years, whose talents were to make wood to appear as folded linen fabric. The carpenters were artisans. The Minnesota limestone inside the house was polished to give it the look of fine marble. There are Tiffany glass lamps in the rooms - on display, and adding to the grand hall of Tiffany glass, many of these works are on well-crafted wood plinths. Colors: orange, blood red, purples, greens, blues, with some of the lamps gilded in gold. Tiffanys art mirrored natures flora and fauna. Imagine how the plantings in the gardens reflect the colors Tiffany used in his glass. Not to overlook the bronze lamp bases that also mirror leaves, stems, and bark of trees. On this day- mild temperatures and a sun that is absent, imagine too the joy of seeing the glass by Tiffany, and the gardens so beautifully arranged with selected plantings to mirror the colors of the glass. A wonderful experience. Theres a new parking area, just steps from the entrance. The lady at the entry was most pleasant. There were gardeners transplanting day lilies and sundry other plantings, happily working and sharing their joy with our group of seven. Beauty in glass and in formal gardens.
Beautiful gardens on the grounds and the Tudor Mansion is spectacular! The Paine Art Center is a true gem in Oshkosh! A great experience for all lovers of art, history, beautiful gardens!
Beautiful building. Loved the woodwork. Went for the Christmas show, so I need to get back to see the gardens.
Love. History, philanthropy, beautiful gardens and art. Yes please! A hidden gem!
The Nut Cracker in the Castle is amazing. It is really something to see. And all the Christmas trees around the house are so beautiful. When youre done touring the house you need to go have some cocoa and cupcakes in the Sugar Plum Fairy shop.
This museum is a surprising gem! Went to see the Audubon exhibit, which was amazing and the docent was very knowledgeable about the exhibit and the Paine itself. Cant wait to go back for the Nutcracker exhibit. The gardens are a real treat. So many places to wander and just enjoy. Take the opportunity to sit in one of the many benches placed around the grounds and just take it all in.
The spring flowers were beautiful on Mothers Day throughout the grounds. Check it out soon so you wouldnt miss them!
The house isnt so large its exhausting, gardens gorgeous!Well worth the time to visit.
What a beautiful scene! From the historic house to the vintage rooms. Theres even a beautiful path through their gardens in the back! I brought my mom for the wonderland exhibition. Oh my was it a sight to see. I was very glad they extended it by a few weeks. I then brought some friends. I would definitely recommend this museum.
Beautiful gardens surrounding the estate. Wonderfully preserved interior that is rich in history. I highly recommend visiting the echo chambers on the top floor. The stained glass is stunning, to say the least.
Been a neighbor for years and it has been so nice to see it everyday
