I did a Barton to Carver float on the Clackamas river the other day and I do love me some river floating. This is the standard novice level float that every Oregonian should experience once in life. Carver can become quite overcrowded with floaters in mid-summer on the weekends. Which is fun for meeting new people, but a pain for parking and navigating the traffic. Carver park is of course conveniently located to the carver hanger, and Id recommend a hot pile of nachos after a few hours on the river to cure any drunken embarrassment that was had earlier on the river. Of course, if the river witch has struck you and your party on the water, carver is a great place to continue to get wasted in sacrifice of the river witchs mercy.
This Park is very nice and clean unfortunately no picnic table very little grass.. boat Ramp a little small but good for Raft s thoughts with handscaps stickers for parking be careful you can get a ticket. The water is good for children in some areas 3 years and up. Be careful and have fun...
Parking is an issue. They tow anyone on the street. we are willing to pay to park if there were more spots, an expanded parking lot would be great. It would literally pay for itself over a short time
So beautiful to float down the river and enjoy the scenery. Craver is a great place to just hang out and have a picnic and swim in the river. Make sure to have lifejacket and floats at hand.
Highly suggest this park. Its always kind of busy but its a great place to push out or come in from the water. Youll need a kayak/raft thing and some buddies and its a great day. Helps if your friends park downstream.
A little slice of summertime having right on the outskirts of the city. Wonderful for families. And a wonderful stretch of the river for swimming in.
The float is beyond amazing and its a wonderful time. My only complaint is that they replaced it recently and theres little to NO PARKING compared to the mass amount of parking on the other side of the float. Its clean and fun. But a dangerous hassle to get back to your car if you choose to park anywhere on the side of the road or out of the parking lot.
Easy access from Happy Valley. Put in or takeout kayaks, tubes, floats. Water a bit low late August for floating. But warm!
Awesome park, great place to end a float. DO NOT PARK ON THE STREET. Theyve recently added no parking signs and have been known to tow large groups of cars on busy weekends.
Very very full. No place to park. Once we found a way to get to the water it was fun. There were ample restrooms.
Beautiful scenery! Clean and quiet and a great experience!
Lots of parking but it fills up very quickly. Recommend to be there before 11am.
Great fun to float from McKiver Park down to Barton. Is a boat ramp with parking. Shuttle up to McKiver.
A nice place to end your float down the Clackamas River. Theres also a boat launch and plenty of parking on the weekdays.
This park has seemed nice enough over the years. My only experience with this park has been as a landing point for the popular Barton to Carver float along the Clackamas River. That is the only thing Ive ever seen people use this park for and honestly I dont know if there is even any more to this park than a landing point, bathrooms and a parking lot. The shuttle that used to run from Carver back up to Barton no longer operates, so make sure you have a ride pre-arranged or come with two cars and park one at each park. The reason Im giving this park only 2 stars is that I witnessed something disturbing by the park staff a week ago. I landed with my son at the end of a float, running late around 8:30pm. As, we waited for a ride and were deflating our raft, the staff ushered us to wait outside the gate, as it was closing at 9pm. No big deal. But on our way out, we observed a group of young adults/teenagers talking about how they had locked their keys in their car. The park staff were having none of it. At exactly 9pm, two tow trucks swooped in and the park staff locked the gates. However, the car owners had a group of maybe 6 people that stood in the way to block their car from the tow truck. Several minutes later, a car showed up with spare keys. The park staff would not let the car that showed up with spare keys through. Eventually the people with the stranded car got the keys and started it up. As they went toward the gate, the staff kept it closed and locked and one of the tow trucks backed up behind the car, blocking it in. Minutes later nine cop cars showed up. At one point, one of the cops who just pulled in asked if I was involved in the fight. I said no and he left me alone. But obviously, based on that question, the park staff called the cops saying the car owners were fighting or attacking them. My son and I observed this whole thing from beyond the gate and there was no attack or fight of any kind. It was actually appalling at how determined the staff were to tow cars that are there one second past closing. There is obviously something shady going on between park staff and the tow company, when the tow trucks swoop in exactly at 9pm and the park staff prevent people from driving off and seemingly make false police reports. So be warned: do not park your car in here if you might cut it close to making it out before closing. The float takes around 4 hours. Give yourself 5 hours buffer at least before Carver closes. So glad I arranged a ride.
Great park and start for a tubing experience that will give you hours of relaxing fun during the hot days
Great place to float the river, but theres no where near enough parking on hot days..
Pretty cool but I got sunburned, which I feel they should warn people about.
The parking lot was very full but it was a fun socially distanced park.
A great loval park. I use Carver Park as a launch point to float the Clackamas River. We generally take it to Riverside Park, this can take 2-3 hours depending on the flow of the river and stops. Its got great access to the River. Remember to park a car on the other end. The park is well shaded so its nice to enjoy on a very hot day. The access and bathrooms are good. The draw backs are the very small beach, limited parking on weekends, and that you need to be a good swimmer. It gets deep fast so little ones need to be closely watched. Bring a chair for the rocky beach areas. There is a little creek with a rocky river bed thats very shallow and a nice place for younger ones to explore and get wet.
It took about 3.5-4 hours to float down. It was SOOO much fun!! Even though there were a lot of ppl there everyone was really nice and stayed spread apart way more than 6 feet. All the ppl were really nice and helpful too. The rapids are very mild and easy to navigate through.
Great little place to float. Be there before 11am or you might be parking on the street .
Its days like today that make me want to go to Carver Park and its times like these that prevent me from doing so. 70° and sunny but COVID-19 is rampant. I understand why we cant be together. For now, we will just be pen pals. One day, Carver Park, you and I will meet again and the reunion will be beautiful.
Not alot of trails and its $6 to park
No parking on weekends! But still a great float from Barton.
There were masive people there floating down the river we went down from barton to carver it took 5hrs and was my first time it was AWESOME cant wait to go again i suggest doing it during the week
Water was cold and refreshing lots of people floating the river
We went rafting from here to riverside and it was so sick! saw a car getting towed, but i believe it was for good reason (parked illegaly)I give it a 9/10.
So fun! Great to hang out on the weekend
Love this area.. And the family time on the river.. Enjoyable for ALL ages.Enjoy the Bald eagles and there young..Nature is all around you. Just stop and listen and you can hear it...$5.00 park fee. But well worth it.. Picnic tables and covered areas.. Public bathrooms..Grab any floating device you got...And enjoy.
Barton to Carver float is one of the best floats I have been on.
Best place to end the day after floating the Clackamas river.
Loved this place. Came for fishing but no bites.
Very clean and organized. No wait for vh the boat ramp
Parking was good. Will be a nice place to picnic.
Near busy roads so a lot of noise. Also, no picnic tables and no place to sit and look at the river. Also, $6 to park there!
Its crowded, however the atmosphere is friendly. A ranger came by and told us they were about to start towing vehicles which was pretty cool of him.
Love floating the river here definitely a repeat place
I love floating on the Clackamas!!!
Good place to launch or pull your boat out
Good pull out but crowded
They have a tiny parking lot. We parked on the street with dozens of other cars. They towed everyone at $363 each. Such a scam and rip off! They have never towed in years.
What a great way to spend a summer afternoon then on the river with your friends floating the Clackamas. You can see all kinds of wildlife along the way. As well as beautiful homes up on the cliff sides. Please be respectful and pack out what you pack in.the parking lot can get full so if you want a closer spot to the boat ramp you might want to get there early. There are porta potties available as well as picnic tables and covered areas for family gatherings. Due to the covid-19 the play structures are closed. The cost to get into the park is $6 please leave your alcohol at home... Float safely and be respectful of others...
All I can say is fun fun fun
Love the ffg floating tube
Nice place very crowded on the weekends though.
Get there early! We floated to Clackamette Park, about 6 hours.
No parking. Very small. And the float is boring
Well for starters it was not crowded which for me is a plus.Like it when u can hear the river flowing by.Peaceful relaxing all in all pleasant..The few people who were there were friendly.
Easy to maneuver and clean water.
The water was amazing.
Didnt get to see it the parking lot had a sign that said it was full.
So beautiful and such a great river to float on. So many wonderful natural features along the float. Lots of neat places to pull out of the water and have a picnic.
This place is know for floaters end stop. I dont spend much time here except to get out. Place is clean and they provide additional restrooms when floating season is in full swing. The parking lot can fill up pretty fast. I like the police presence, it makes it feel safe for little kids especially around drunk floaters.
Its really nice. But they are asking not to go right now because of the fires.
Good place to Cool off
Very nice, clean quiet park. Although, I was there on a Tuesday afternoon.
Parking is easier than I thought and there are trademarks route too. Making sure to have membership card on you and enjoy the climb!
Awesome fishing on the Clackamas river . September and October bring migration of hatchery and wild Coho salmon returning to spawn . Carver has a nice park with bank access for fishing as well a improved boat launch . Day use fee in park is $6 .
Betuful right near the city fishing!!
Great place to go floating down the river. We went to the big float event today and had a great time.
We ended our float/kayak trip at the park here. Was easy to get out and loaded up from here. Public porto-potties. Lots of police around for your safety.
Love this place, Start your river float here. And get here early 9:00 am fills up fast!!!!
Great float from Barton park. Relaxing even though piped a raft.
Great river float I even took my 3 year old niece since it’s not to rough on the few rapid parts you pass by, great way to get a good tan
Beautiful in early September.
Carver Park is he really fun River Park great for family friends picnics kids The list goes on I highly recommend this park for any family is looking to have a nice day on the river!
There was not enough parking available
Not really a park in the traditional sense - more like a big parking lot with a boat landing and natural shoreline to play on.It gets super crowded and rowdy during the summer. If you are thinking of bringing your family here to play - dont. The only reason to come here is to drop a boat (raft, kayak, etc) off or pick one up.
Parks not open i was pouring sidewalk there today
It is a good place to Launch your boat.It was a free park, but with all other people that go rafting in the summer month fr carver to Oregon city a bought abandoned 6 hour float. It became over popular and parking was a problem.there is a farm that is up the street that has open his feld to parking for a charge .I belive the park now charges 600 to park igeel that it a bought 300 over .mciver park is 5.00 any way. A lot ov.fisher men use it in the winter for Sammons steelhead fishing lot of drift boat parkingThere .and there is a lot over bar food with in walking distance. Shelled .rock garden.and hanger. All make good food.o yes and you cant forget the place where made that film close by all so ..let see what was that vampire movie..lol I wonder if I got my 200 words in.
Just love it
Super fun place
.A popular boat launch for the lower Clackamas River. Well kept, good facilities. Super busy on summer weekends
We had a lot of fun here today. It was very busy and crowded however. On the plus side everyone was very nice and friendly so it was a great experience. Its a shame there has to be such a high police presence though. Parking is also $5 and you have to drive around an hour to find parking so really they should be paying you five bucks to park there
Paid 6 dollars to park my car here while i floated for 4 hrs down the river.this is a beautiful park.and the police officers that patrol it are very nice
Love the park, hate the parking. Its so ridiculously small, and hard to get a parking spot. Usually have to park down the street and walk down to get to the park.
Good place to picnic with the kiddo and cool the feet in the water whether youre getting in there or out there :-)
The float from Barton to Carver is just boring
We floated from Barton to Carver with a group of 8 people, it was a hot day, lots of people but nobody I saw got stranded or hurt, perfect day.
River is beautiful and the park was clean. However, there are no tables, seats of any kind, or even garbage cans. You are paying $6.oo for a boat landing. That is what it should be called, not a park.
Nice place!
Nice quiet Serene great place to take my dogs
Great river to float just dont take small children because there is heavy pot usage on the river.
Have been coming here since the early 80s, fun times
This is a great part to be a good looking to just swim. There are plenty of spots where the water is shallow and lots of beach access. Great Park for family interaction however the only downside I would say is that there are no picnic tables around. So pack up your blanket in your lunch bin and get the picnicking!
It’s a nice boat launch area with a great view of the Clackamas River and some green space to walk around or have a picnic. Be aware of the strictly enforced mandatory $6 parking fee.
Its nice and relaxing to hang out there.
Great park.
The water is beautiful itd be nice if people picked up their trash
Barton to Carver float was AMAZING!!! Long, shallow, clean water .Entry was like a boat ramp so easy to enter, busy times may have a short line. Plenty of great places to stops along the way. Exit was good too. Must have 2 cars and 4 people min. to drive the cars back and forth.
Fun place to cool off with the kid, or rafting to high rocks.
There needs to be way more parking spaces. On the weekends, you can park on private property if the lot is full. But overall its clean.
