Great time with family. A true one of a kind experience worth doing over and over.
This place is so immersive, inspiring and fun! I was there for work but cant wait to take my family back. A truly artistic treasure in Oklahoma City and must do for local families, for sure!My personal engagement level with visual art is very high, so this might not be the same for everyone. But Id anticipate that I could spend 1.5-2 hours here. Its not very big, but there is a LOT to see!
Awesome interactive museum. Perfect for kids or adults as there are many interesting small spaces and hidden installations to explore. They have a video phone that calls a phone booth in a sister museum in New Mexico which was really cool. They have a lot of small spaces to crawl into and some stairs to crawl up and down so bring your sneakers. I would love if they made this place even bigger.
I randomly found this place and decided to give it a shot. Me, my daughter, and her friend (both 12) loved it. Right now with COVID, they’re doing small 45 minute groups at a time. Since I wasn’t sure how long it would take to walk through and we wanted to see everything before our time ended, we ended up going too fast and were done in about 20-25 minutes. Now that I know, we will go more slowly and will have more time to pay more attention to detail as there are a lot in each area. Definitely worth going to see.
Factory Obscura was really fun! ive been to several interactive exhibits recently that were nowhere near interactive or cool. this was a full sensory experience with something to touch or play with in almost every room. never a dull moment. we will definitely come back for a concert. there is even a phone to meow wolf in NM ^_^ great visual effects and environments. i can see this place growing and evolving over time. so far it has a great collection of rooms and experiences. 10/10
Had no idea this place would be so cool! Worth buying the special glasses (they make everything look trippy) for the full experience.Just an awesome art exhibit all around. Bought a souvenir magnet and a cassette.Would totally go again.
More fun than I had expected. I enjoyed it sober, but I can see a child or someone on psychedelics really having a ball.
My wife and I visited here. Due to the reviews, we expected it to be pretty cool. But to be real honest, neither of us got this place at all. We both love art; we didnt love this. If wed have been told, before going in, that this place was entirely decorated by elementary children wed have been pretty impressed. To think that adults did it, we were left completely underwhelmed. I could write a very long narrative about why, but suffice it to say, this just isnt our thing.... especially at $17.00 per person (which I feel was about $16.50 per person too much). We went through the whole exhibit (if thats what youd call it) in about 20 minutes or less. So at almost $1.00 per person per minute, no, Im not impressed. I mean, the Oklahoma City Science Museum is only $16.95 per person, and you can spend the better part of a day there. Likewise, the word interactive, as far as we are concerned, is a term they are using very liberally.....Everyone was nice, and I can see where little kids might enjoy it (which is why we gave it 2 stars instead of just 1), but yeah, its just not art in any way, shape or form.... as far as the 2 of us are concerned.Apparently, plenty of people do like this place, and thats great. Again, it just totally didnt do it for us. So, if you go and you love it, Kudos! If you go and are like us and think What the bleepity bleep did we just pay to go see???, well, just dont be completely shocked. This is definitely one of those places youre either going to love or hate. For us, love definitely isnt what Id call it...
Totally cool! Obviously completed by very creative people! Highly recommend! Also appreciate the sanitizing practices.
I love the concept of immersive art, art as an experience rather than just something to see from limited perspectives. This type of art is so engaging and wonderful! Typically art exhibits are hands off, but these exhibits are so far from that! Ive most recently gone here to see the Kings Mouth installation, once with my best friend (we are in our 30s), and again with my 7 yr old son and 8 yr old niece. This is something anyone, of any age l, from any walk of life can enjoy. It isnt just something to see, it is a dynamic, multi-dimensional experience. You can interact with the exhibits. Its like a childrens museum and an art museum made a psychedelic, imaginative, ingenuity-drenched art baby. I am so excited for September 2019 to get here so that we can experience 6000sf of this brand of art. You dont just see it, you feel it in new ways. Its around you - you see it, hear it, feel it, youre in it, under it, on it - its a beautiful experience. I highly recommend checking this place out! Im so happy Oklahoma has an inspiring creative space like this.
This is a really fun and exciting interactive art exhibit. There is something magical around every corner. The heart that went into this place is just breathtaking. The staff is super friendly. Well worth the price for admission. Seriously, this place is just magical all the way around. A must see in OKC. Great for all ages. Simply amazing. Stop by the gift shop and buy some cool merchandise on your way out.
Its like meow wolf but smaller. Awesome exhibit that takes the Covid-19 precautions very seriously.
So fun! And they did a great job of sanitizing and keeping everything as safe as possible.
Ive been to Meow Wolf in Sante Fe & this was the same energy as there, even on a smaller scale! I felt like a kid again, exploring all the fun exhibits, with nooks & crannies everywhere Thank you guys, it was awesome!
This is definitely the mecca of Downtown Oklahoma also known as DID~ Downtown in December by the locals Oklahoma City is one of the Best times during the Christmas Season.•This is a GREAT place to take a stroll and see christmas lights draped over buildings. The historic buildings of Automobile Alley get a whole new look and can be seen in a whole new light (no pun intended)during Automobile Alley’s Lights on Broadway. More than 180,000 colorful LED lights cover the buildings along eight blocks of North Broadway and District side streets making for a Magical holiday Wonderland.•DID~ Downtown in Decemberbrings endless strands of lights, while you cant miss the BEAUTIFUL lights throughout your neighborhoods and along all OKCs streets, there are a few displays that glow EXTRA bright. These festive light displays in and around the Oklahoma City metro certainly stick in our memories as some of the best ways to celebrate the season.•If youre ever in Oklahoma City during the Christmas Season or if you schedule your next trip during the Christmas holidays be sure to head Downtown and enjoy the festivities and lights.
Reservations make this place a dream! Super clean too!! We took an adventure and did our homework in all the nooks.
A very fun place to crawl around and feel like a kid again! I loved all the attention to detail. It’s very cute and you can take some cool pics for the ‘gram ; )
It made me feel every emotion at once and told one and every story possible. Beautifully done.
Such a fun, trippy place suitable for all ages.
Random discovery. Whole family loved it teens to 6yrs old.
Kids loved it. Amazing spaces to explore. Found something new everytime we explored the rooms.
Great place! So immersive and I love bringing my students here. They absolutely love visiting there and it gives them so much inspiration. Ive gone about 5 times now because I cant stop bringing people! Definitely an awesome place to take the coolest pictures at.
Incredible place! A must see in OKC.
Excellent art and very interactive. Great for kids...they can crawl into small places and play with all kinds of stuff they’ve added to the walls. Wonderful place for awesome pictures. You should spend the extra dollar and get the glasses it’s totally worth it. If you can’t afford it they have recycled ones at the door. It’s $15 for adults and kids under 13 are $12 (3 and under are free).
I came here a couple of weeks ago with my wife and came back today to bring our kids to see The Kings Mouth. This is definitely an interesting place to visit, the people there are really friendly. Im definitely looking forward to see the full installation in September!
Mix Tape was awesome! Our group had fun
I have loved each instillation, theyre all unique and beautiful. Im excited to see the different ones that are going to come in the near future.
Long story short we were on the way to do something completely different and drove past this incredible building (you can’t miss it) and we just had to go in....we definitely don’t regret it! If you’re one of those “adults” who is really a kid at heart...spend the $15 and take the mixtape adventure. It’s unreal! A one of a kind experience! Blessed that there are so many creative artists out there who Are willing to share their talents with the world! Already looking forward to their next projects because we will FOR SURE, make the trip to visit!
Great place to take a date. Super artsy and clearly drugs went into each rooms concept. Ironically though, this exhibit is a great example of how so often the beautiful things that are the result of drugs are not best enjoyed while on the drugs themselves. The trippy ambience is great when sober: if youre tripping balls, though, youre probably more concerned with keeping it together in public than you are trying to climb through tunnels and slides and stuff.
Factory Obscura is slated to fully open with Mix-Tape at the Womb Phase 2 on September 20, 2019. When complete there will be 6000 square feet of interactive displays. Until then Mix-Tape at the Womb Phase 1 is a free audiovisual experience called the Kings Mouth. Crawl inside the mouth of a large silver tree to experience a six minute sound and light show by the Flaming Lips. Purchase a pair of prismatic glasses for $1 to accentuate the experience.
This place is beyond fantastic! One of the coolest & most unique experiences. You are immersed in this totally different world & walking through the experience you feel such a wide range of emotions. You are confused, excited, & amused all at the same time. The art installations are wildly imaginative & engaging with the different pieces is what makes it so awesome. I felt like a kid in a psychedelic playground! I didnt want to leave!
Employees were so rude and horrible it just ruined the entire experience. I usually don’t leave reviews on anything but these people were so hateful
Such a cool experience. Went early on a Sunday and it was not crowded at all. Be sure to go through a couple times because its easy to miss small details! Favorite was the teenagers room... almost gave me some anxiety it was so close to home haha. I would say its worth the $15.
Caught the last day of the Kings Mouth with my toddler who nearing the end said it was too much. It WAS pretty intense, but I liked it. Everyone was queued in line to have their own personal experience with their group. Part of the interactivity can be interpreted to be communal. We passed the line and climbed in with strangers. Dont be shy and feel free to do the same thing. We had a lot of fun at Meow Wolf and are looking forward to returning to Factory Obscura once the full Mix Tape experience is open. The tape deck buttons outside the building are also interactive. Have fun!
Had a great time here taking my girlfriend on a date! It’s so incredibly creative and just a blast to go in and be able to touch and feel everything. It’s a unique experience, and be sure to get the glasses they’re selling for $1. Totally worth it.
A phenomenal experience. I cannot adequately complement the artists who contributed to such a fantastical sensory tour. Ill make the drive again when another exhibit opens!
Im so lucky to live in a city where I can support artists living what they love!!! Almost everything is deliberately placed, and intricately created, and placed in a way go and to the ambiance. Its a place with substance, and meaning, and really opens up the mind.
Really enjoyed yesterday with our familyOur kids theyre love itGood service staff around the area
What a beautiful, amazing space!!
I got to touch so much stuff and there a little room with funky light up flamingos. You go you funky little plastic ornaments
This installation art venue/collective is an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime, free stop if youre in OKC! Take 20 minutes to browse the shop, then try out the Kings Mouth experience. Youll be blown away by the surreal lights and sounds. As a note, the current exhibit is not accessibility friendly, but the artists are exploring ways to expand the experience in support of this. The full Mixtape experience opens in September of this year, at which time a reasonable cover charge will be added--I hope to return to see it!
So much fun for anyone! I love all of their exhibits thus far! Make sure to touch and explore everything, you never know what you could find.
Great place for kids to explore. I didnt know it was for kids but still thought everything was pretty neat. Was like exploring a different world.
It is really cool, its small but interesting and awesome.
Creative fun artscape to adventure through! Every room is its own unique theme with surprising interactions all around. Definitely a good spot for a creative recharge!
I loved this place because all the room were so fancy and we were able to do a lot of photos
This place looks totally amazing I never knew that we have something so amazing here in okc... I just want to know if I do some cool photography in there? And what about bringing in a stroller and diaper bag ? What are the rules ?
Have only been once but wont be the last! Had a great time experiencing the Kings Mouth. I thought it was very nice of the staff who offered if we wanted to go through it one more time before they closed up shop instead of trying to get us out of there.
This place was so cool! I can’t wait to see the next exhibit!
This place was amazing!
So awesome to have something so wonderful in OKC! Its a definite dont miss!
I was very pleasantly surprised. Brought my parents who lived through and loved the 80s. They absolutely loved it. My kids thought they were in a movie. It felt as if Dr. Sueuss and Tum Burton collaborated on an art project. I am so happy to see okc getting something like this. Be sure and pay the extra dollar for the glasses, it makes it worth it. You can take pics and record, it makes for some pretty awesome photography. Good job Factory Obscura! You made our day!
We had so much fun celebrating my daughters birthday and taking a tour!! I would highly recommend checking it out but make sure you have time to few and touch everything!! Also splurge a $1 on the glasses, you won’t regret it!
Really just defies words to describe it. must see. brownie points for uniqueness. loaded with photo ops :)
Loved it! The Kings mouth was amazing! My 10 year old also loved it. As soon as we left she started asking when we could go back. Cant wait for the next thing they do!
Unique. Waiting for the new Factory Obscura to build out their exhibit.
Loved the experience! Looking forward to seeing the entire exhibit
Hmmmm very oroginal. Kind of made for kids in some parts. But still go! Its a great hands on and hit the senses type of art if you will, in the modern day and age! There is neat little surprise too. But you have to look for it or you might miss it! Have fun
Beyond is an immersive art experience by Factory Obscura, an Oklahoma City based collective of artists. You walk, climb, and explore whole new worlds in this full-sensory environment that has been constructed from scratch by a team of artists. Here youre encouraged to touch everything, explore everywhere, and discover secrets and so everyones visit here will be unique.
This interactive art exhibit will bring out your inner child while challenging the way you look at things. Great date night activity!
Took the kids here ages 2&4, they had fun for a few hours. Good place to let them run off some energy.
This was an awesome exhibit. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. One of the coolest things to do in OKC.
Fun, interactive, creative art exhibit. Plan on taking extra time to explore and investigate the many rooms and installations.
Super fun experience. I could only imagine the experience with edibles lol. Gift store shop prices are insane! I wish there were more rooms!
I couldnt give more stars, because we didnt do the whole tour. We had a previous meeting and had to leave. But we had fun and enjoyed what we saw. Will be back.
If you are visiting the Oklahoma City area, this should be a stop on your schedule. Especially if you are into artistic expressions. The establishment was inspiring. Kelsey was amazing and really showed us how the art was influenced. We cant wait to come back to see the displays grows.
The delightful wonder of Factory Obscuras BEYOND has been extended for you to experience through January 6th. Dont miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in art as you walk through each of the four doors...A crystal moon greets you; open the bureau drawers and read the letters; choose your path through each of the four doors. Exquisitely detailed, brilliantly executed - a fantastical, immersive art playground for children and adults who want to embrace their childlike wonder. The creativity will astound you!
A Rorschach test for the adventurous eye that asks you to open the doors of your mind and walk into wonderland. If you are a fan of anything David Lynch, Factory Obscura will not disappoint.
Its so cool, I just wish it was bigger.
Right now its basically just one attraction called, The Kings Mouth where you will experience a combination of lights and sound in a way you had never experienced before. They also have a small store where you can buy original art and related merchandise. I will definitely recommend this place if youre visiting Oklahoma City.
The experience was great. But, I wish they had an area that reflected experiences boys could relate. too. It was a bit one sided.
I love the Factory Obscura. So many details and surprises is every nook and corner.I would have loved for it to be on a larger scale and something that would be more in a permanent location. The volunteers for this project were superb!! Friendly and helpful.
Closed when we were there so unable to review the inside - but the exterior is truly one of a kind! Fun!
Disclaimer: I truly support this location and the art the comes out of here. this is constructive criticism.I would love to give this place a 5/5 start review, but unfortunately, felt like it was “fake deep”. It was very immersive and had nice details but struggles to stay on topic. Often times, I’ve seen this in movies, music, and other forms of art. There seems to be like there is too many creators with too many ideas and trying to mash them into one thing without sacrifice or compromise. There was an attempt to “create something deep” instead of focusing on “emotions of creating a mixtape. I was expecting something that had continuity and allusion to art. I truly support art and am so happy that this location is giving artist a place to display there art, unfortunately this time the point was missed. With too many ideas, it felt more like an insight to a schizophrenic mindset instead of emotions of creating a mixtape. One thing I think that was done very well was that the artist were not afraid to add several features like lights, sound, and interactive art. Very experiment art work and with more experience it is exciting to see what the future brings. I will continue to go and support this place. And think this is somewhere everyone should go at least once.
Loved getting to see work from local artists. The experience was so fun and interactive. All for a great price too!
Great place to take pictures if you want a more urban scene.
What an experience of art and expression. This eclectic space provides an opportunity to show how art influences community. This place is a gem! Once an empty building now blossoms with new life!
The artists installed a creative and innovative space for adults (and kids) to interact with art.
It was really interesting
What a great time
This location is wrong, go to the north one!:) Wonderful place!!
A little pricey, but worth every penny if you are an art enthusiast. I spent about an hour there and will be returning. The staff is incredibly kind. Child friendly, wheelchair friendly. They have a place to keep your coat!! Perfect for a rainy day.
Beautiful, unique, and someplace relaxing and a safe place to be ones self.i only got to go fir a few minutes(i had ducked inside to avoid some cat callers a while ago)the people there are warm and welcoming and so helpful!
Awesome place
We made a special trip from Round Rock, TX (birthday treat for myself) to OKC to specifically visit Factory Obscura and it did not disappoint. Me and my husband really love what they did with Mix-Tape. You can really see what they will grow into and the creativity and wonder they have in their artists. The shop is also awesome. I bought a piece from Meg Carlile which I absolutely adore and wish I could have gotten 1 of everything from all the artists.Local OKC residents should take advantage of having this little gem in their neighborhood and support their local artists.
I wanted to love it, and I did love the art which was fun in a mysterious and playful way. Im happy this place exists and look forward to their future exhibits. That being said, on our recent visit we went at a very busy time with >20 minute wait in line to get in. The layout of the building unfortunately was designed to have you walk out of the building and back to the end of the line multiple times to see everything, which was not explained to us prior to entering. We left after the first walkthrough, mostly due to the unexpected necessity to wait in line again to see the other 3/4 of the display.
The kings mouth is a must see and is free until the full experience opens in September 2019
This place is awesome bonkers! Love it
Interesting place to visit☆MIX TAPE AT The Womb☆°☆An interactive installation held in the psychedelic arts center founded by the frontman of the Flaming Lips. The Womb stood out from anything else in downtown Oklahoma City. It is considered the most colorful place and inside...well...let me just say that the name suits the place☆》Womb/Factory Obscura《
We had a great time!!
Very very fun for the kids and the whole family.
I love that a taste of Meow Wolf is available in OKC! Go find the telephone so you can talk to visitors at Meow Wolf in Santa Fe.
WONDERFUL AND EXCITING!!!!! 100% would recommend for families and dates :)
Very beautiful & unique. they spent lots of time on this because there’s so much detail added to each room, i love this with all my heart and i am DEFINITELY going again. my happy place
These people are doing great work in the city! The interactive exhibits they create are on Meow Wolf level. They also do fantastic outreach for the city and are very involved in the community!
Always amazing
Very fun, interesting, out of the ordinary experiences
Trippy, emersive experience. The only down side were the misbehaving kids!
A fantastic art experience to enjoy alone or with family and friends.
