Beautiful place to go in Oakland, to seating and enjoy the sunny day, see the water or walk around. It’s enjoyable spending time over there. Many restaurants close and even a Fairy land where the kids can play. On weekends, is very lively, a lot of people enjoying the area, there is a farmer’s market on Saturdays during the summer, and also people playing drums. Can be hard to find parking.

This is as Oakland as it gets. Everyone from every part of the city can be found in the Lake Merritt area every day. Its a great Nexus that isnt fully appreciated by residents or lawmakers. Schedule a boat ride or have a picnic with friends lakeside!

We are so lucky to have such a beautiful lake in the middle of the city to be honest. So thank you to the city staff for maintaining this clean place.

Beautiful Lake Merritt: a must see for visitors to the Bay Area, especially Oakland. This is a great park for runs, picnics, strolls with the family and kiddos, or to walk the dog. There’s paths and tons of grassy areas and even some good climbing trees! Great place to lay a blanket out and enjoy a picnic (I’ve went on a second date here before, it was very nice, and there’s a old school theatre and Thai food place down the street that was perfect after a hot day in the sun at Lake Merritt). There are tons of shops depending on what side of the lake you go to, but along most of the lake, just across the street are good places to eat or ice cream shops. Of course you can usually find an ice cream man with his little bell cart or other Mexican inspired treats and goods being sold somewhere along the paths for park goers who need a refreshment or snack!I mostly have gone here for picnics or for protests that take place at Lake Merritt often! My most recent visit to Lake Merritt which is when the video and picture were taken, was from the Presidents Day Protests, where we built Oakland’s first human wall spelling out “no wall America!” for the helicopters as a symbolic protest to Trump’s fake national emergency to gain funds for his wall! Lake Merritt has a long history of holding protests and demonstrations and other symbolic nonviolent acts.

The Lake Merrit located at Oakland, CA 94606, EUA, is a beautiful place to visit when you be in that city, and observe the sunrise or the sunset. The Gardens and open spaces there are very enjoyable, and a good way to spend time overthere is just walk around or see the water. At the end of the afternoon, many pets are there with their owners, playing and running over the grass green.
