I am new in town. No digs... so I want country, found this empty parking lot on days with no on e there. Every where nearby is private. Where can you just be outdoors? So this guy comes to kick me out. Guy heavy with glasses. Sorry but you sour me.

Are you kidding me? This place is beyond amazing. Give yourself a few hours and take your time. I sped through it in 1.5 hours....and would have liked more time, but they were closing. Bring comfy shoes as you will be outside to view the old buildings. (Which by the way are so amazing) a must visit while in the area....I enjoyed it so much.

Lincoln County Historical Museum is a true gem! There is a wide range of history included, from early frontier days through the North Platte Canteen in WWII and to more modern events. The staff and volunteers are incredible and the information is researched extensively to insure accuracy of the exhibits, all at extremely affordable rates. A must stop in North Platte and for the locals to continue to visit as they work hard to add new items.

A lot of great historic buildings to wander and peek into. They also have a huge collection of old farm equipment and a train car. We werent able to go inside the actual museum, but it was nice just to wander the grounds and check out what was there.

The museum is well laid out with displays that are easy to read. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the grounds with the out side displays were very clean this is a must visit with the family to teach the history of the area.

Stopped to learn more about the canteen the residents of North Platte and the local communities ran during World War II. Such a shame the actual canteen was torn down but this museum does a great job explaining it. The rest of the museum and the buildings that were brought in were also interesting.

While following the NE passport we stopped in and toured the museum. We were pleasantly surprised at not only the vast history of North Platte, but how well curated each section of the museum was!

Very nice local museum with friendly volunteers. Tells the stories of settling Nebraska, the North Platte Canteen, and has a town in the back of the museum. Very reasonably priced, $6 adults, $5 seniors, and a $1 off coupon is available at the Golden Spike Tower. Spent a couple of hours there. Would recommend.

Great way to learn about the history of the area. The exhibit on the North Platte Canteen during World War II is worth a visit by itself. There are so many things on display with very informative descriptions. There is also an outdoor, recreation of a small town depicting life in the late 1800s. Definitely wirth a stop if you are visiting the area.

Beautiful Part of Nebraska history as well as the home of the great Buffalo Bill Cody . Beautiful inside as well outside. My husband and I have taken pictures there through out the years.I also had my graduation pictures taking by the big red barn. The grounds are very well maintained and also enjoy alot of the events throughout the year. My family enjoyed hayrack ride at Halloween and Christmas at the Codys is always a wonderful time with music drinks and usually a few homemade cookies.A must see for any one wanted to veiw a little of Nebraska history.

Great Chicken Fried Steak. Red Mashed Potatoes were extremely bland. Bread is two types, knotted together. Definitely get the appetizer sampler. Nothing interesting on the dessert menu worth ordering. Try adding a fudge cake or something similar. Freezing atmosphere. Bring a jacket and a blanket. Buckets of peanuts on every table yet I dont remember seeing a sing on the way in, warning allergy sufferers.

Excellent self-tour takes you all the way through historical buildings, set up like a town. Gorgeous & fairly well preserved. No air conditioning, but if the days are cool enough, you dont even notice. It was over 85 degrees and the buildings were quite pleasant to tour in the late afternoon. The inside museum has a.c., and the info on the North Platte Canteen is worth the trip alone. Plus, they had a special admission deal for 3 museums in town. $10 adults for all three was a great deal for our family!

A wonderful, local museum. The story of the North Platte Canteen during WWII was an experience I am so glad to have learned about. Buy the book, by Bob Green Once Upon A Town. You will cry, be in awe, and so proud of those people who gave their all. I watched the whole video and cam not understand why it is not available for sale!

This museum was better than I expected. I didnt know a lot about it before going so I assumed it was a small building with local memorabilia. The building itself houses some great antiques, information about the Canteen, war memorabilia, etc. Out back there are many buildings, including a church, some houses of famous families, buildings from Fort McPherson, and machine sheds. The only thing I was disappointed in were some unprofessional-looking signs and grammatical/spelling errors.
