The bnrc website says the hike to spruce hill is difficult. Its not, moderate to easy at best. Mostly well marked trail until the very end when it connects with a blue trail and you need to figure out which way to the summit, but when it doubt go up. Some slightly overgrown parts but still easy to maneuver, but you might want to wear long pants bc they are thorn bushes. Nice lookouts at 4 different places but the one at the top of spruce hill is definitely the best. Great views of Mount Greylock from there and down into the valley.
I really enjoyed this hike. It is relatively level and for long stretches you are in the forest with no real views. As you approach Spruce Hill, however, you catch more and more glimpses of the views to come. Spruce Hill itself is magnificent, with distant views that include Mount Greylock; the towns of Adams, North Adams, and Williamstown; and more.
Easy hike with 2 main vistas. The path is pretty narrow and overgrown in some places, so wear long pants and bring your mask: there are points where it is difficult for hikers to get around each other while still remaining on the path. This is a fairly level and easy to follow trail.
Nice views, No bugs since there are no swamps. Not very crowded.. Worth driving across the state if you want to go to Vermont but cant because of the pandemic.
Nice little hike. Moderately easy with a great view of fall foliage.
Great 180 degree view for the amount of effort to reach it. Trail was boney, but otherwise not too difficult. Easy side of moderate.
Breath taking views here. Its a nice ride along the mountain sides in MASS. Its a very interesting ride with a wonderful view.
The Hoosac Range trail is a trail that goes north-south on the ridge of the Hoosac Ridge east of North Adams. The trail is easily accessible from the Sunset Rock side from the parking lot right off of rt 2 at the top of the hill. Here you can choose to hike to the summit, .8 miles each way, or you can choose to hike beyond that point southward toward Spruce Hill and the Busby Trail. Sunset Rock is a great before work romp that is great for kids as well. The longer trail headed south is a fine couple of miles, generally flat, with great views to the west. This is a great trail in terms of ease of access and quality.
The Berkshires are in a class all thier own with countless trails leading to breathtaking views or natural highlights. The amazing mountain terrain will awe you. More so when you admire the history adding meaning to each trail as a route of passage or trade. Hoosac Range trail is just such a place.
Some good views
Excellent place to hike.
So beautiful!!!! Peaceful and enjoyable.
Beautiful scenic trails lots of fun activities for the family or fun date must see nice place to camp or have a picnic
Beautiful overlook
Apparently frequently hiked as I went one day after a snowstorm and the trail was pretty well packed down. Being winter and chilly, I didnt get as far as any views, but fully intend to return once the trails thaw out. Even without the previous visitors blazing a trail in the snow, Im sure I could have found my way as the trail is very clearly marked.
I havent been here, so Im not sure why Google wants me to rate it, but Im sure its cool since the area around it is awesome.
What a view, top of the valley
Get lost in the woods. But not *too* lost . . . stick to the trail.
Some of the most breath taking views.
Grest place to take a ride on motorcycle.
