From the moment you arrive you are surrounded by beauty and feel far away from any city. There is plenty of free parking and an awesome new bridge through the woods from upper parking lots. Staff are friendly. The zoo is clean. Everyone had on masks (but only some visitors practicing safe distancing). They have hand wash stations with sanitizer everywhere. The animals are well loved. They have plenty of places to picnic and a playground for the kids. They have a few little rides and hands on experiences (they cost extra). The zoo is handicap accessible as far as I could tell. We love having a membership here and I could seriously go on and on about how wonderful it is. We love all their holiday events too!
From my 6 years old daughter: I liked the animals there. I also liked the food and fun there. I also loved the part where me and my family fed the Giraffes. I saw a lot of animals. Me and my family went everywhere in the zoo. I liked it a lot! I saw a lot of animals that i loved. Me and my brother also got to take pictures. We picked the Jaguar icon for the photo. I also really loved the otters playing. It was lots of fun looking at the animals. I also saw cool animals like the jaguar. Me and my family also got to take a snack break. And during the break I got to play on the Carousel. My mom also took pictures that I liked. When I was on the carousel my brother said it looked really fun. We also had mixed mango smoothies. My smoothie turned into ice. I didnt drink my smoothie quick because it was cold. My brother drunk first its also because Im a slow drinker and eater. I drunk most of the smoothie. And then I gave it to my mom to drink.
Small zoo with a nice variety of beautiful animals to admire. Zookeepers are very knowledgeable and kind during your visit. Impressive highlights include the Giraffe and Bison feedings which cost an additional entrance fee. Lots of cute activities for smaller children. All in all this is a nice afternoon outing and well recommended.
Went to see the Christmas lights at night. Definitely worth the visit especially if you have small kids. You also get to see animals too and maybe Anna and Elsa. Dont forget to bring your mask.
Great place with really nice staff. Its super clean and they are doing a great job with COVID restrictions!
Loved my visit to the zoo. Was a nice trip to do solo. I went towards the end of the day and crowds were minimal. Some of the beauties I saw were giraffes, a leopard, bald eagles, Turkey vultures, and many more. Looking forward to enjoying some of the food and spirits when covid restrictions are lifted. Make sure to buy ticket online in advance.
The good-Great small zoo. Kids 5 and under would love it.The bad -Management has to do a better job coordinating times for zoo entry. I purchased my tickets online and was given the slot 2pm and the zoo closed at 3pm. That was extremely unfair to me and my family when the advertised time was 12pm-3pm.
Was expecting a nice zoo, and been looking forward to coming here for a bit. Very limited animal exhibits. They have the audacity to charge extra to see the giraffes. Doesnt the admission and extra fees that comes with the mandatory online booking give one access to see the animals??? seems like a glorified mommy and me time children playground versus an expected zoo experience.
The staff was all so genuinely pleasant and helpful. The price for admittance was excellent! Parking is free, which is great. Feeding the giraffes was unbelievable. The staff and even security guards were all knowledgable. And held to Covid restrictions. Food and drinks were a little pricey, but worth it, so be prepared for that. Over all, well be going back looking forward to all the attractions being open.
I would give 0 stars, but it isnt an option. I spent $55 for a family of 4 for their boo at the zoo event, and drove over an hour and a half to get there. The tickets had a time slot but we ran into traffic, so we called the zoo to make sure they would still allow us in. They said they would and mentioned their closing time, but FAILED to mention that they stop the activities and handing out candy an hour before closing. My kids were crushed!! A very long trip in their costumes expecting candy and fun, for nothing. This was supposed to be our safer trick or treating alternative to our over crowded neighborhoods during a pandemic. We asked one of the workers at the exit (hard to locate other wise) why activities and candy were advertised but werent there. Thats when they told us they stop at 3 pm. That would be good and fine if you didnt sell entrance at 3PM. Why sell tickets for an EVENT at 3PM if said event technically ENDS at 3PM??
Amazing zoo really enjoyed it. We where a little late to our time but they still let us in. Its a great place to go on the week days, on the weekend it tense to have much more people. The parking might be an issue on the weekends ( to many people ) I recommend going up to the extra parking, even though its a little walk back less cars are up there and more chance of finding parking. The animals are really well talked care of. All of the animals look healthy and happy. Over all everything was great and I had a blast.
Been there only once. But had an amazing experience. My daughter loved it. The holiday lighting was amazing.
Nice small zoo for my 1 yo granddaughter. You must buy a timed entry ticket. Parking is free. Not crowded on a weekday. Good covid protections in place. It would be nice to have more signs around the place telling you where to find the animals and what route to take through the zoo.
Elmwood park zoo is a great aza accredited zoo. A good place to take the family, very kid friendly with a playground a few rides and opportunities to feed giraffe for an additional fee. All of the animals are well taken care of by a large number of staff and volunteers. Also, plenty of Free parking is available on site.
Trying waaaaaay to hard to look and feel like the Philadelphia Zoo at the expense of the visitors experience. The naturally occurring flow that should exist at a zoological park is disrupted by carousels, train rides, zip lines and food gazebos. I remember a time when going to the zoo meant seeing animals in well designed enclosures not navigating through throngs of hipsters as they suck down light beer with the hope of catching a glimpse of an animal, only to find an empty exhibit.
There were several animal ambassadors out today which was awesome. Thank you Elmwood for making the necessary safety changes to remain open and allow us some sense of normalcy. all of my kids love coming here but it is especially great for younger kids as it is easier to find the animals than at the bigger zoos.
We enjoyed this small zoo last summer for my birthday. For a small zoo it had tons of animals and up and close encounters with Giraffes and Bisons and few other birds. The best part about this zoo was the water mists throughout the park and small park with fountain for the kids to cool off. They have three small rides that is plenty after walking through the park and playing at the big playground. The gators were also very nice to see.
This zoo is PERFECT for young children. It wasnt crowded, you got to see the animals up close, and the musical park along with the Merry-go-round was a delight. I would highly recommend this zoo!!!!
During the highest peak of tge Ckvid the Xoo did take precautions to ensure safety .. but thrmoricevwas to high for half the darn park to be closed half the animals were hiding more angry lil like the mad lil otter who rolled his eyes at me lol! It was very hot that day . The whole tour was over like in 30 min me.n.my daughter admission was over 30 buck for us to just se Girraffes and eagles and buzzards never again
Spent wonderful afternoon with wife enjoying not only the zoo & wide variety of animals. Giraffes were so wonderful introduction to zoo. We enjoyed all the kids on carousel and playground. A little disappointed in so many food places closed and those open were expensive. But, in fairness, it was very obvious how well the animals are cared for and that isnt cheap. Most libraries have free admission tickets for those that can use the help. It is set up nicely for sandwiches to be eaten in parking lot. Very family friendly. Staff is WONDERFUL to animals and customers. Spend an afternoon, you wont regret it
Had a great time with my three year old grandson! Felt fairly safe as can be with COVID! Decorated so nicely! I want to come back and see it at night! A lot of family fun
A local zoo to rival Philadelphia zoo! Roughly the same size but minus some of the larger animals. But we saw some big cats, giraffes (up close and personal, you can pay a small fee to feed them face to face!), zebra and bald eagles. A great reptile and amphibian house. Enough information displayed for a quick read, more in-depth info available through a QR code. A fantastic playground and many snack options to choose from, you can even grab a beer! Cannot wait to try out the treetop adventure course, currently closed due to storm damage. Will be back again soon!
This is a great smaller zoo, with quite a few animals that you dont see many other places. The jaguar, porcupines, and red panda were favorites. My daughter loves anything feline so the bobcat, cougar, and ocelot were wonderful as well. The playground is well done, with lots of structures, shade, and fenced. Great for parents with small kids.My sister had crutches today and it was a bit difficult to maneuver around some of the hilly areas, but we managed alright. They are clearly spending time and money to upgrade exhibits. The zebras and giraffes are in a new enclosure and soon the red fox, Bobcats, and otters will be too. Construction is still pending. The Trail of the Jaguars was our favorite spot. The Jaguars were front and center and absolutely adorable, playing ball and enjoying a post-Halloween pumpkin.I recommend getting a map from the Store, but I wish the map was a bit more helpful. All in all, a good zoo to visit if you want one on the smaller side, particularly with kids under 10.
We were pleased to see the carousel being wiped down after each ride. A real bargain and easy to get to! Hard to do 6 distancing with so many people. Also glad to see in the candy give aways there were fruit snacks in addition to the candy.
Great zoo! Very nice and helpful staff. Free parking. Lots of amenities. Super neat animals.
Love it here. Very minimal amount of people and we got to feed three giraffes. Having a great day.
We love this place, we are members and live nearby. Although far too much to cover in 1 day, so with a day pass it best to choose around 70% of the animals that you want to see first to make sure you get to see your favorites.
Its a pretty small zoo, but its very nice. It was too busy for us to feel comfortable going inside to look at animals, but we saw most of the exhibits and enjoyed it. Glad we got a pass from our library, too, otherwise it probably wouldnt have been worth paying for full admission.
Would like to see more animals. Still was a nice day.
The zoo is a nice size. Easy to navigate . Loved the jaguars. We will return
A great little zoo! We will definitely be back!
Ample space for social distancing. Misters available to cool you down on jot days. Free parking and reasonable ticket prices. We will be back!
A lot of fun and great value for your $! Staff was exceptionally friendly. Very clean! Food was surprisingly good. Will go back again.
We love EPZ for a family fun day out. My girls especially love to feed the giraffes.
Great little zoo! Perfect for families with small kids. The animals never disappoint and youll see something new every time.
Small, cozy zoo with plenty of animals and displays to keep kids happy. The highlight is definitely the opportunity to feed the giraffes.
Very nice Zoo. Geared to all age sets. The giraffes, porcupines, cats and eagles were outstanding!
Great place to visit, especially in these uncertain times with covid! The kids had a blast and the Zoo did a great job of enforcing masks and distancing. Bravo!
There’s a magical spark in the air upon entering Elmwood Park Zoo. When you are able to create an atmosphere for both humans and animals to feel completely comfortable and safe you create an energy that is both inspiring and contagious! Al Zone and his team have done exactly this! I have never before witnessed such a passionate and genuine team that delivers top quality care to these beautiful animals.I was also taken by surprise when Al Zone, Elmwood Parks CEO personally introduced himself and welcomed my son and I to his “home” because that’s truly how he made us feel upon entering the zoo. To see a leader who holds such a prestigious title demonstrate equality, kindness, knowledge, understanding, strength and love all in one afternoon is so rare and the sole reason for that magic spark in the air!I highly recommend visiting Elmwood Park Zoo... experience that magical spark for yourself! Share the energy with those around you as we come together for our shared love of animals!
Went for the Holiday lights...was really cute. Took in a Frozen skit, kids loved it
Nice size zoo for families with little kids. Lots of interesting animals, friendly staff, not too crowded. You can pet and feed some animals, too.
Ive been a member of this zoo for nearly a year and I truly love it. It has a lot of activities for the kids but even my husband and I enjoy going. They have a nice variety of animals and you can feed the giraffes and bison. Highly recommend!
It was fun, calm and relax place to walk with family and friends. We ate there and it was great, the cheese fries are really good! The staff is very kindly and courtesy.
Super busy on a holiday weekend Friday, which was expected. Hard to distance and i was surprised the kids play area was open. Love the small size for a quick trip!
Today was our first time at Elmwood Zoo. I loved that you could see animals up close, parking was free and it’s a manageable size for our little guy. However, I am really disappointed and quite concerned about the lack of COVID restrictions I saw n place here. There were TONS of people. A few signs about social distancing but no one really was. The playground was PACKED. There wereWay too many people on the equipment and no one was spaced out. I don’t get why we had to make a reservation to get in if it’s not going to be monitored or limited. We won’t be back for a while.
Great place for kids. 10x better than the Philadelphia Zoo. They have a little park for the kids to play in in addition to the all the animals and rides. They have a zip line course and you can hand feed giraffes. A+
Great little place to spend a few hours with family and friends. The animal attractions were nice and the animals seemed well cared for. We loved the merry go round and little areas tucked away to eat. We will definitely be back soon
Still have plenty of animals and activities! Its definitely a good time waiting to happen, and its not too expensive! Honestly its worth taking an afternoon trip to visit!
We Love the Elmwood Park Zoo! Very convenient for driving to and parking! Also they run couple times a year a special for family membership including 2 Adults, up to 6 kids and 2 Guests! Usually under 100$ and sometimes for Black Friday on Groupon they also have good deal!
My 2 year old had a magical experience and we loved watching him fall in love with the animals. He got to feed the giraffes, hug sheep and goats (petting zoo) and “hold a bird” (ate fruit from a cup in his hand). Very interactive experience. He also loved the carousel and train ride. Lines were short and people were well distanced while waiting. Saw employees wiping rides down after each use. Contactless tickets and food payments.
Its a little smal zool but still my little one enjoyed her time there
Small zoo. Not much to do if you dont want to play in the play ground. Have a few rides as well. Feeding the giraffes was a cute idea however 3 pieces of lettuce is a little bogus
Loved enjoying a small zoo while traveling! Feeding the giraffes was awesome! Was really wonderful to have a special needs friendly atmosphere and the quiet room when our little guy had some sensory overload. And even a little ride! We’ll definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again!
It was enjoyable, wish they had more animals. No tigers, bears, peacocks etc.. my grandson is 10 months old, it was perfect for him. For 10.00 fee it was nice.
Nice place to bring the family. Price is good. As of 8/23/2020 most attractions and food stands are open. You do have to wear masks at all times and buy tickets online.
We really enjoy this zoo. Our grandson loved it. He even roared at the jaguar. He is 18 months old.
Pretty fun place for kids 10 and under. Good choice of animals. Small zoo but worth the price of admission. Something to do during this covid nightmare.stay safe
Its a wonderful place to go, animals look healthy and happy. The zoo is clean and covid-19 safe..
A compact zoo that can be covered within a couple of hours, hence great for families with small kids. They also offer animal feedings, a zipline tree top adventure, rides for kids and a playground. You can host your events too such as birthday parties, etc.
Giraffes and bisons are awesome. For 4.00 you can feed the giraffes. We got in for a special price today. Small zoo, but especially great for little ones. Just the right size. My granddaughter lives the giraffes. Appeared to be a clean place. Playground was open which was a little scary in covid times, masks were required. Water fountains, and parts of the park were closed.
Fun time - every time I go there with my family. Boo at the zoo was great.
Went here for the Wild Lights Holiday exhibits. The staff are very friendly and the Wild Lights exhibits were beautifully amazing! Definitely a must go before it goes for the season. Its great for families and will keep the kids excited and occupied.
Very cute, family friendly zoo! Lots of North American animals, and several more exotic ones as well. I especially enjoyed the bird house, were you can feed parrots and other rain forest birds. It is also nice that you can buy beer here as well as other beverages and food.
It is not just for folks with children. Go visit. Go see the great selection of animals they have. A great way to spend a day, relaxing and enjoying a inner city gem.
This is a lovely little zoo that we have been going to for years! Perfect for younger kids since there isnt a ton of ground to cover and the variety of exhibits keeps them interested. Weve done giraffe feeding and bird feeding for a small fee which was fun! There is a large playground, merry-go-round ($), train ride ($), music area, and a Brew at the Zoo stand selling adult beverages.
Love this Zoo. Staff is wonderful. Zoo has great exhibits and perfect day trip for my kids and I. They have great food options. Healthy options too or plenty of places to pack a lunch! Parking is free!
Beautiful zoo with great play grounds nice padding zoo they have that you can feed the birds and a very good Obstacle Course
Great for younger kids. Smaller than philadelphia zoo but inexpensive with free parking and can bring your own food and drinks.
Such a fun place to visit, didn’t go jn a whole since the ropes course is closed. Such fun to feed the giraffes
Took a family trip, 1 hour drive from Cherry Hill, NJ, $8.00 per person admission, purchased tickets online, very frendly and accommodating staff, just enough activities to keep the grandchildren engaged with fun and learning. This zoo is just the right size for a 60-90 minute great time. Our family (all three generations) loved this place!
Elmwood did a great job keeping the zoo open and helping everyone practice social distancing. It was a hot day, but there was plenty of options to cool down including sprinklers/misters and a/c areas. We got our tickets for 10am to be among the first to enter and they are half off too!
Great little zoo. Parking makes it seem packed, but it hasnt felt packed when walking around. Great for my younger kids and the zoo brew beer concession is awesome. Few paid activities once youre inside, so prepare to drop more than just admission.
Neat little zoo. You can see bald eagles up close and a few other animals as well.
Is a small zoo. Was under construction so we didnot see many animals. The only good thing that I did was feed the giraffe for $4.00 ( 2 lettuce leaf) The giraffe ate it in 2 seconds
With all the hype over limited entrance times and COVID practices to prevent crowding and promote safety, we were really disappointed. This place was literally so packed, it was impossible to not be breathing down the person’s neck in front of you. The pizza place by the front entrance has a really nasty brown hair woman working to hand the food. We literally asked her for some spray so we could wipe the table down before sitting my family at it- she said no there’s cleaners from the zoo that come around and wipe it. Like ok I didn’t think it was a hassle to be handed supplies to wipe my own table but sure. It was just weird and rude. The kids got like 4 dollar store suckers throughout the Zoo for the trick or treating. Instead of a Halloween bag, just bring a snack baggie you’ll have plenty of room left over. Just very strange, crowded.
The overall experience was ok but I was very disappointed with the amount of animals you get to see. I was expecting a lot more for the money we spent. We were pretty disappointed going around and around hoping to catch a glimpse of more animals to no avail
We visited the zoo twice this winter. Once for the Christmas light display and once to see some animals during the day. Both visits were wonderful, for different reasons. For a small zoo, the Elmwood Christmas display is wonderful. Weve been to several light displays throughout the area (including for zoo displays) and the Elmwood Display is very good. We really enjoyed the ability to go indoors, to view some of the animals and to get warm. There were also some fantastic photo ops!!When we returned during the day, we had a very nice time. We chose a day that was not brought and sunny, so some of the animals were not out. Well go back again, when the season changes, to get a better feel for the outdoor areas. We spent a lot of time in the Big Cat building. The panther is beautiful. The keepers who were working on the building were friendly and informative... Not just about the cats, but also about other animals in the zoo. Were looking forward to it next visit!!
We went in April last year. My daughter had fun feeding the Giraffes. Which is kinda main attraction of the zoo.Parking was a bit of crunch and difficult to secure on a weekend. Also it is recommended that you take your own stroller because the rental strollers run out very quickly in peak days of summers.
What a great zoo for everyone. There are a variety of animals including giraffes, zebras and bison. There is a lot of open space for sitting g and watching the animals or having lunch. Also there is a carousel and an area with larger than life musical instruments. It was exciting to feed a giraffe and get within a foot of a Bald Eagle. Plus the zoo is extremely accessible!
The zoo was fun its the perfect place to go lots to see and lots to do and you can even drink beer if youre in the mood
Great zoo, lots to do. Great for kids!
Small but good zoo. Bring extra cash to pay for feeding animals. Zipline & climbing experience is really cool! Kids need to be 4 y/o, at least 36 inches AND have CLOSED TOE SHOES!
Very beautiful zoo .kept clean .small but kids enjoyed
Lot a huge zoo, limited but good attractions. Animals, rides, giraffe feeding, play area. 4 hour is ideal time to see all. Limited food choices in cafe. Perfect for toddlers.
Recent flooding has closed half the exhibits, so there twas little to see. Sad.Past visits were ok. It is a small zoo, with minimal exhibits to start with, so when half are shut down, not much left to see. The playground was open and the little ones enjoyed that.
Lovely day. Good mask rules. Otters are cute and active.
Norristown zoo is a great place for families to take and teach their children. Its one of the only gems Norristown has left.
Small convenient zoo perfect for families of all ages. Zip line course & zoo brew for adults. Carousel, mini zip, train, and large playground for children. Great exhibits with a variety of animals. Giraffe, Bison, and Bird feedings are also a lot of fun.I throughly enjoy working here, and visiting with family and friends on days off.
Nice little zoo. Animals looked good. Wasnt crowded but I did go on a Monday afternoon. Everyone seemed friendly. Casual day Only took an hour. A beer was $9.00 but expected it to be expensive it a zoo lol
This is a great zoo especially for younger children. It is large enough to make a day out of it but not overwhelmingly large for little kids where you walk around for hours and they are dead tired. Plenty of interesting exhibits that are different than the other zoos so it is fun to do both. Without feeling repetitive. Chris Vtrainers personal training.
Nice place! Clean, fun and lots of food options.
Awesome place to go with the kids and family small enough to see in a day and have fun. Many great animals
Did not visit or see much of the animals beside some zebras and giraffes. My visit was more on a personal level. My cousin had her baby shower here and the space was huge and air conditioned which made everything else fabulous.
Great visit with our Granddaughters !Lots to see, staff very informative and courteous.
Absolutely wonderful. Clean and inviting. Associates were professional, polite and helpful.
Loved it! So many cool animals and just the right size to walk with kids!
