One of my favorite places to visit on a summer day. Take the ferry from Jamestown or Newport and stop at historic Rose Island (or kayak there!). Theres a fee to get on the island, but its so worth it. Take a tour of the lighthouse, enjoy the three beaches, and hike the perimeter (as long as its not seagull nesting season, which will be clearly marked). Great place to enjoy beautiful Rhode Island.
A beautiful spot on a quiet peaceful island
Beautifully restored lighthouse in the East Passage in Newport. Visit via passenger ferry or on one of Save the Bays lighthouse or seal tours! You can walk the island and tour the inside of the light or stay overnight as an honorary keeper
Well kept and neat. Our guide wasnt immediately available but made up for it with her depth of knowledge. We were able to walk the island and that was the icing!
The restoration effort has been tremendous and beautifully successful! We stayed overnight and loved the 1800s experience! Dont expect fancy or luxurious.
This is a very special experience to stay overnight! Despite the visitors during the hours you are there, the evening and early morning is fantastic - even more special with a storm passing through.
Pure walk thro ugh history. Come with a low level of digital noise enjoy the silence of the sea and the wind. You must act as a team to enjoy your stay, be in touch with the moment. Follow the restrictions you will be glad, your voyage will be complete!
Staff very friendly, always answered questions
Nice quiet peaceful weekend.
