Balboa pier,located on beautiful Balboa Island is a great safe place to spend a great day at the beach!Lots to do around Balboa Pier as well!Lots of places to eat,drink explore and shop!

Nice place, mostly people fishing all through the pier. Beautiful beach and parking is pretty reasonable. You get awesome views of the shoreline and Newport Beach city.Pier can be a lot crowded on weekends, place near Rubys diner on the pier is very dirty and smells terrible because of all the waste from baits, fish remains and bird droppings. Not sure how people sit there and eat in middle of that mess left behind from fishing and ton of people still fishing. Could be lot better if the area is cleaned periodically.Overall a good experience.

Love this place. Lots of good restaurants (yes, can be pricey). Fun to take a walk on the beach and up and down the pier. You can watch lots of people fishing off the pier and even see fish in the water and jumping as they plow through all the little schooling fish. It is a short walk to the crazy wedge, where when the surf is high, you can see monster waves up close. You have to get a balboa bar while you are there. My only complaint is that I wish Studio Cafe was still there. It had the best drinks, dinners, and live jazz.

Had a great relaxing time! Weather was great, very clean organized pier. Lots of fishing off the pier, all ages. Lots of room for canopy set up. And close to lots of shops and restaurants, and rentals.

The beach is cool. It has fire rings for night time. But you have to get there early. Cause only 6 available. Then they have charcoal pits as well. Shopping around

It was a really nice experience. Granted the weather was perfect so that made for a good time too.

Great for family bonding, you always catch something (big or small). Make sure to get there early for parking and a great spot on the pier.

A Rubys Diner and an incredible view of a full moon. What more could you ask for? Nice spot for fishing and relaxing.

Love this pier. Very clean and not crowded. Has a restaurant at the end. A close walk through the wedge, jetty and uncrowded part of the beach.

Its not that good for fishing anymore but it is nice to eat at Rubys they got some good burgers

I havent been here recently due to the whole pandemic but I do love visiting here with my family. I hope I can return here, the sunsets and sunrises are beautiful and the ocean is such a nice view. Come here if you want a calm and relaxing start to your day or end of your day.

The Rubys on the the end is great. Would recommend to anybody looking for good seaside lunch or dinner.End of pier is also great for viewing sunsets. Just go on top of or behind the Rubys

Loved the pier. Saw people catching crabs, enjoyed beautiful views of the ocean, and enjoyed a delicious milk shake. Didn’t want to leave. Beautiful anytime of day.

A bit crowded for Sunday at 5 pm but still nice and relatively clean. The restroom at the pier was trashed with sand everywhere. The portable stalls were completely out of tissue paper.Not enough benches.Parking was easy but got completely packed after 6pm.

Gorgeous panoramic view around! Palm trees all over! Clean area, nice park, variety of restaurants steps awake from the pier. Nice waves, nice rental houses for family and group vacation.

I have to admit at first I really didnt even want to go here but then when I got there I loved it. The waves were pretty big the whole time we were there. And it was really hot that day. Had a really good time definently recommend it to everyone!!!

Waves are fun. Theyre powerful and fun to ride on a boogie board. Sunset was amazing. Water is cold but I was able to manage it for many hours. Im super sensitive to cold and hot.

During my visit the beach was not crowded, found free private parking right next to the beach. Also enjoyed some awesome NY style pizza and ice cream.

This place is relaxing at night when less congested. There is also more parking after 6pm. This fire pit section is wonderful.

Nothing special about this Pier. It was a nice place to spend a quiet afternoon as it wasnt crowded but Im sure as the summer approaches it will get much more crowded. There seemed to be plenty of parking and places to get food if youre hungry nearby. The beach area in the pier area appeared to be clean.

Aw,had a great weekend in Balboa had nice dinner drinks Vigin drink for me. Nice walk on pier with my husband desert over had awesome time yes and shopping too.

We had a great time! Stopped here on our way home from Disneyland. Wasnt very busy when we arrived around 1, but there were a lot of families having fun when we left at 3:30. Soft hot sand cold water... Was perfect!

Always A good experience at this beach so close to the water son loves it here and you cant forget the seafood to go this time due to the whole covid 19.

Parking is free after 6pm. Its a pleasant walk. I go for a walk from pier to pier on the boardwalk at night. Its a total of 3 miles round trip.

I don’t know why the water is so pretty at this pier... it’s literally Jade Blue! There’s always tons of people fishing and there’s a great restaurant called Ruby’s at the end of the pier with amazing views of the ocean. AMAZING! I think parking is pretty good to but in the Summer come early or u won’t be finding anything.

Amazing gorgeous trail. Good for families with kids as well.

Good place to stop during a bike ride. You can lock the bikes up and get some food.

Pier was wonderful as always. Ate at Rubys which was a horrible experience. Food presentation was ok but food was horrible and expensive. Very high priced and service was mediocre. Servers eating at the counter and no rest room was available. Dont waste your time and money. Eat somewhere else.

The weather was nice at sunset and the beach was clean with not an overload of people on the sand.

Nice pier- clean for the most part. At the end of the pier is an old fashioned Malt Shop and Burger place. The boardwalk is nice. Pretty crowded for a week day though it is summer break. The beach was active and had people by the groves.

Beautiful place to visit! There are homeless individuals.. while leaving the pier around 5/6pm on Sunday a man loudly banged on my car window to open my door because I dropped my phone. However I had my phone. Stay safe in this area.

Parking is pretty straight forward right next to the pier. I really enjoy walking or jogging out the wedge from the pier its a good half hour walk one way. I like coming out here early for runs and walk along the beach for sure. Lots of nearby shops nearby plenty of places to rent bikes and scooters.

I love the quaint little shops and restaurants. The beach is clean and the waves are wild!

This place is awesome, but the parking like many other beaches is hard to come by on a sat. Lots of places to eat around there though so it was worth the wait for prime parking (about 15min) . The water temperature was amazing too!

Boy, how do you review Newport Beach?I have to tell you--I have spent a lot of time in Newport Beach over the years. I know it extremely well. I drive from LA to hang out in Newport (and Irvine) as much as possible.Its my #1 place to go to for recreation--cycling, hiking, boating, restaurants. If I could afford it and it was practical for my work, it would be a dream to live here. If anyone reading this has a place in Newport and wants to take me in, you will have incredible karma for the rest of your life. In my opinion, its the best of life and one of the best places in the USA to live.But its also very expensive. And you have to be okay with its Republican/Conservative bent if you reside here. Every weekend when I am cycling by the Marina on the the way to the Back Bay path, there is a Trump boat parade going on or ending. This is very much Trump country--boats and homes flying Trump flags--not everyone--but Newport has always been conservative.And of course if you are a woman, you have to be blonde to live in Newport--its the law...Just kidding but it seems so. Hey, if I had more hair on my head I would become blonde too.If you have not been here before--definitely pay it a visit. Park on the street near Back Bay and walk the back bay path or cycle if you have bikes. The ride over to the the Balboa Peninsula park and walk along the beach path--goes on forever. Then check out Balboa Island--walk around the perimeter especially at sundown. Head over to Fashion Island for shopping or restaurants. Take a walk up PCH into Corona Del Mar and then over to the cliffs to watch a sunset. Take a sunset cruise only $25.00, rent an electric Duffy boat, take a whale watching cruise. Rent a beach cruiser and ride along the beach path--you can go all the way to Huntington Beach on the path. Hang out at the Newport Lighthouse (has a restaurant.) After a day here you may feel like me and get depressed that you have to return to LA.

Always a wonderful and clean clean beach, with exception of the restrooms. I was upset to see so many new bars facilitating disgusting drunkards early in the day. I used to love Balboa for its wholesome and family environment.

I did not enjoy my experience at all. The smell of sewage covers everything up and the restaurants are not good. Would not recommend.

This is a really nice beach. The only thing is the waves are really rough. So prepared if you come here.

Easy access, seems well maintained. We took the shuttle six times and it was first-class for five.of them. We were stuck on an old ferry for one trip.amd it was pretty trashy.

Went night fishing.....the pier was open past midnight. We didnt leave till 1:30am and it still was open. If you park on the side with the playground its free after 6pm.

Balboa is a great Pier. Its a fun walk from Newport Pier and the ferry ride to Balboa Island is wonderful time! Rubys is located on the pier and is a great place for lunch or dinner. There is a playground not far from the pier (along with public restrooms).

The Ocean Breeze is so cool & fresh ! No better place these extra hot days ! Want to really cool off ? Walk in the surf or completely submerge ! How about Ice Cream & icy drink ! The atmosphere & views are soothing ! People are happy & friendly ! Nature is so re-juvinating ! No worries !

Its a nice place to fish. You dont get too many fish but its fun when you go with people you care about. Its not too fishy smelled. I always come here with my dad to fish.

It was the first time my son got to see the ocean. We were literally the only ones on the beach and I dont recall there being one piece of litter. It was a really special day.

My favorite beach. You may enter through Balboa island and take the ferry or exit off Newport Blvd from 55 frwy.The pier is nice and I always meet friendly outgoing people at this beach. Make a stop at Cabo Cantina located north of the public restrooms at beginning of the pier. There food is amazing and their margaritas are the best. Happy hour all day everyday I believe. Make sure you pay at the parking toll machine once you park. Security comes around giving tickets.

Awesome Beach....Friendly Community.....One of my favorite beaches in So-Cal!!!.....

Fun town to walk around, took the ferry across and went to the beach, played at the park. Parking is easy if you go a street or two off the main drag. Little rides and an arcade off the ferry. Something for everyone.

It was such a beautiful day. We will definitely be back.

The Queen Balboa boat cruise was the bomb!! Inexpensive.....see the sea lions!!

Awesome beach. Ask what times you are allowed to take your pets on the beach though. We had to take turns sitting in the car with our puppy. But other then that we had a great time.

All I have to say is go early we were there at 9 it was beautiful and no one was on the beach.After 11 hit it was so crowded you couldnt move.We had a bout an hour where it was just me and my family it was amazing.

The bathrooms are pretty small so there will likely always bee a pretty good sized line out of the door, but otherwise the pier is absolutely stunning, and the Rubys at the end makes it all that much better!

Not a lot going on except fishing on the pier, but I found theres plenty of close by parking, grass picnic areas, and of course, sandy beaches. Good parking for short walks to the water also, vs. vast stretches of sand, for those that dont want to have a long trek for setting up their chosen spots.

Very nice and quiet pier. Love the clean boardwalk and beach compare to other major beachline.

The sunsets are amazing, especially when you get a milkshake from the burger joint at the end of the pier.

At the base of the Balboa pier on the north corner, there is a bronze plaque honoring Glenn L Martin who, when he was 26, flew his hydroplane, which he built in a converted old Methodist Church in Orange County, from near here to Avalon on Catalina Island and back for a distance of approx 67 miles which gave him the record for the fastest and longest flight over water at that time. He later merged his company to form Martin Marietta in 1961 and then later in 1995 with Lockheed to form Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Beatiful Place to get a little taste of the California coast. Area was clean and well maintained. Would have loved to spend more time here. Perfect weather like always.

Love the beach and the desserts and atmosphere totally recommend coming here... hard to find parking when you gotta pay every 30 minutes to an hour so make sure to get the parking app its easier then going to pay the spot manually. Recommend
