My husband and I enjoy going to the Regal Edwards Big Newport Theaters, It is favorite place to see a movie - soooo comfortable and worth the little bit extra that it costs - Once you try these comfortable seats, you wont want to go to any other theater again.
Wow! you should see this theater! They have updated the seats to loungers, the Projector is the best Barco Laser, and they still have over 400 seats in one auditorium alone.. This place is huge and beautiful!!! Great place to have a private party, meeting, or just catch the latest released movie.
As the name implies, the screens here are very big. The theater also has a fun classic movie asthetic. The huge RPX seating is great!
Took my wife-girlfriend at the time to Starwars opening night. Rowdy crowd with beach balls bouncing throughout the auditorium prior to the movie. We were high school sweethearts at the time. Big Edward was awesome at the time being the largest theater this side of the Mississippi in 1977. Taking my wife of 38 years to the movies tonight to the same theater. It’s been updated with large leather reclining seats. Highly recommend to fully enjoy a night at the movies!
It is simply the one theater you want to see any big new release film at. Best recliners, giant screen, incredible sound system. Concessions do get busy before a big showing.
Here again for Regals annual BestPicture Film Festival, large comfortable recliners in a medium sized theatre, great picture AND sound quality.
LEATHER ELECTRONIC RECLINERS WITH SWING TRAY TABLES, EXCELLENT SOUND SYSTEMS (RPX) AND TOP NOTCH PROJECTORS.This theater as wonderful selection of candy and foods but the oddest shape as the theater is comprised of I think three different buildings balto the movie theaters are huge and each one of them can see probably at least 200 people.great experience overall. A++(
Started when i arrived. Trying to check in from the app and no one was able to help me. Well.... no one was around to help. As i walked up to the counter were everyone buys drinks and food it took 5 minutes to be approached. Managers head was down and i was the only one in there at the time. As i walked to the theater i noticed that there was no customer service in the building. There was no greeting, smiling and all andall no one wanted to be there. Watching the movie in rpx was the worst sound i have heard from a movie. Why pay extra when the sound was bad.
Huge theater, very clean facility and a friendly staff made the experience a great one.
Its Nice And Fancy
Great experience in this theater. The seats were there most comfortable I have ever experienced. They were electric powered reclining seats that had built in trays for you stuff. Plenty of room. There was a bit of a choke point for ordering popcorn. And the lobby itself seemed a bit dated. But the experience is better where it counts. I am told that the audio can be a bit loud, but it was not when I went.
Very nice theatre. Best part was we were served wine and had very comfy seats. It felt like we were watching a movie at home. Good sound and beautiful location. I will definitely come back. You should check them out.
It really is a very nice, clean theatre...we love it!!
I went here to see The Upside and had a great time. The theater is clean and easy to navigate. Its clear which theater you are in and the snack selection is pretty good. The seats are wonderful. You pick your seats and they recline. fantastic for date night!!!Will definitely be coming here again. Its also close to fashion island so you can grab a meal pretty quick before or after the show.
Cost way to much money for what they offer first off got a hot dog for almost $6 which I had to return for another cause bun was hard as a rock and dog had turned almost black from sitting for who knows how many hours when we got there nobody was at ticket counter we waited for almost ten minutes for the only guy working behind the food counter to come over to sell us entry tickets it was just a really bad experience dont think Im going to return to that theater
Love the recliner chairs for the price at this theater. Always comfortable!
I don’t like leaving bad reviews unless a place truly deserves it, but Edwards Big Newport has botched two different Fathom Events movies now - A Silent Voice and I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Both movies ruined because somewhere, multiple times, the audio and video went out. Sometimes it happened at the same time and the lights in the theater would turn on randomly. Someone had to get up and tell the workers to fix it - and this happened multiple times!!! The sheer apathy. I can’t express my disappointment enough - Fathom Events fans, WATCH OUTUPDATE: I avoided this theater for more than three Fathom Events movie screenings and decided to give it one more chance. BIGGEST.MISTAKE.EVER. The movie didn’t even start and the screen was black for 5 full minutes before I had to walk to the box office and tell them to turn the movie on!!! I have officially reported this theater to Fathom Events and hope to get their Fathom Events privileges stripped entirely. I’m sure the employees would be thankful too because they clearly don’t care enough to prevent their mistakes from happening again and again! Terrible management! See you never Big Newport!
All is great, except there was 25 minutes of previews.
I was having trouble showing my online purchase QR code on my phone. They were very helpful, & understanding. They were able to help bring up my proof for tickets & concession items.I felt embarrassed, but they politely made it all okay again. We all had a great experience thanks to the Edwards staff.
It was an awesome place my daughter loved this place.Take my word for it
I happened to visit this during their duscount hours by mistake when I was in the area conducting personal business. I was blown away by the Hugh size of their IMAX theater, and their other theaters, ergonomic reclining seats, cleanliness throughout the building and restrooms, Hugh selection of foods and snack assortments, and their friendly and helpful staff. This is The Best Theater I Have Ever Visited. Wish all the theaters within the chain was as nice and efficient.
This one is at a more remote location so never has a crowd problem for night shows. The theatres are amazing - huge screen, rpx has great sound quality.Ample parkingShort walk from restaurants and groceries around.
Comfortable leather recliners! Great popcorn, huge screen & very clean.
Great theater huge screen super comfortable lounge chairs great place to see a movie I go almost every week only bad thing is the Concession stand workers there lazy & lame the NEVER EVER have fresh popcorn popping for any movie ever I ALWAYS have to ask them to pop me some fresh popcorn and when I do they always act like I just told them to paint my house are something super lazy & the hotdogs are always old on hard stale bread but The pretzel bites and slurpee as are always on point and yummy look as they have to make those fresh lol but all & all its a great place to see a movie You just have to be on the concession stand to make your food fresh I think thats the least I can do have some fresh popcorn popping when u walk in considering they charge you an arm and a leg for everything you buy their anyway SMH
Great place just order your tickets ahead of time for best seats
Visit this place at night to enjoy all the colorful lights
One of the best days ever with my son!
Incredible theater with the largest movie screen west of the Mississippi!
Reclining cushy assigned seats. AWESOME!I haven’t found a theater I enjoy more as far as catering to my creature comforts. Might not have all the nostalgia you want. But man great place to watch a flick.
Nice theater and friendly service showing all of the latest releases.
My familys favorite theater! Love the big comfy seating too!
Awesome place. Has the recliners and super compfortable. Only thing I dont like is you have to pick seats before going in, so may be good for us, may not be. Likely all but the first couple rows are good viewing anyway.
Saw a movie here for the first time and was very satisfied. RPX theater was impressive; auditorium was very large, screen was big and vivid, the audio was great with its Klipsch speakers all the way throughout, and the addition of recliner seats + tables was a plus (however in the back row the chairs in the row ahead are in the screen a little bit). Also, I dont believe the audio is in Dolby Atmos as I did not see any speakers located above me for the 3 Dimensional sound, nor did it present Atmos before the movie starts like it does at the RPX at spectrum; still the audio sounded great. Great theater.
Love the seats here. Fav
I used to go to the Lot across the street located in Fashion Island. Ill be shifting that routine, and will be seeing movies at Edwards Big Newport 6 & RPX from now on. The theaters are cool and clean, to be quite honest the recliners are much more comfortable than The Lot recliners. Big bonus, the tickets are a quite a bit cheaper as well.Everything checks the boxes for a pleasant, relaxing, comfortable movie experience.
Huge theater, however, watching a big movie that was sold out on a premier night you would think that they can run the air conditioning. Not tonight, it was really warm, with the leather seats compounded the problem. Bathrooms were small also for how many people flood them when the movies let out. If you can get past the discomfort of no air conditioning or long bathroom lines everything else was as you would expect at another theater. The big screen was neat but not so much a selling point anymore.
Cool, clean & really impressive as you would expect from any venu in Newport Beach. The snack bar was also spot on offering Fresh popcorn vs whats been sitting in the popper that Ive encountered else where.
Favorite theatre and favorite recliners. We’re there every Friday night for date night. We don’t go anywhere else. We always say hi to Mark, the ticket taker who’s worked there for years.
I love the huge seats and food options
Shame on regal...The managers and staff are living in the past. I was at the theatre, had electronic tickets and management did not allow me to scan my ticket and was forcing me to go home and print them out. I will never go to this theatre again. In an age where saving paper for our earths natural resources is more important than ever, this company refuses to allow me to use an electronic ticket.I watch 25 movies a month and am disgusted by all steps of professionalism and customer service. All managers were present and denied access. I have lived in Newport beach for 34 years and prior in Ohio and have never felt so disappointed by Regal. I visit 5 regals a week. And no other location has enforced such an antiquated rule.As an excuse they said there has been fraud around electronic tickets and I have been using them since available and know that once scanned you can never use a ticket ever again. To have the employee lie to my face after asking for an exception so nicely, is a huge insult and lacks the spirit of customer service that should be held at such a reputable company.Shame on management, the gm and the staff. Terrible staff is a top down issue.
Fantastic. If you can get it on an empty day all the better. Id recommend row G in the big theater #1
This experience was incredible. I loved the seating and the design was beautiful. It was an organized facility and I appreciated the service. Thank you for such a wonderful presentation!
All the theaters have been updated to big reclining chairs. Its usually well maintained and clean. Not quite as boutique as the Loft but they take Costco tickets which makes it a great experience for the money.
Dont like that the theaters are in 2 buildings yet the snack bar is open in only the first bldg. Love the reclining seats!
The main theater is nice and I enjoyed watching Justice League there but compared to the others theater’s in Irvine it was just okay. It feels to have a good history and embraces a nice attempt at Art Deco on the exterior. I liked it but it was lacking a bar option and the manager was wearing an In-n-Out Burger tie, which ruined the branding for Edwards Theater in my opinion. Maybe a better dress code should be enforced.
Its a theater experience totally worth the price. First off they have great viewing seats, the seats recline and are very soft. They also have little movable tables attached to them. I paid to watch isle of dogs and the price for the seats was only 12 dollars! Its totally worth any extra money, its comfortable, clean, and just all around a good theater.
Not my favorite, but an OK theater. Reserved seating and recliners. The theater I was in did not have stadium seating, which I prefer. Screen and sound was pretty good. Cross over to shopping center for some food options. For a better experience, pay a little extra and go to The Lot across the street.
This place has bugs in the seating. And the seats are peeling i was coverd in black stuff. Peeling off the seatsstaff are jerks they have old dudes working there who are lazy .
I visited this theatre for the first time today. It won’t be my last. I went for a 10am movie and I wasn’t alone surprisingly. The theatre parking is perfect for the size of the venue and the lobby is open and airy.Use Atom if you’re coming since you can pretty much walk right in like I did. The thing I’m in love with will always be the power reclining plush seats. That’s also why I go in the AM, I guarantee you I will fall asleep after 20 minutes sitting there.Plus, the aisles are so wide you won’t feel like you’re tripping over every guest if you need a refill or use the restroom. I’ve left theatres in the middle of a movie over the thought of the treacherous journey of returning to my seat. The staff weren’t remarkable, more like fixtures standing by in case you’re new to the world and don’t understand what a theatre is. The only bad part of my visit was the thought of paying $7 for a soda, $5 for popcorn, $5 for Dasani water, and $4 for candy. I didn’t of course, I appreciate that they have water fountains.
Hands down, my favorite movie theater on the West Coast. A great place to see first releases, the theater serves great popcorn and classic treats in an upscale atmosphere. Parking is usually plentiful if you come early.
The seats are so comfortable!!! The chicken strips and fries are so good for movie food!
We always go here for movies. Its clean and they have good service. Pending what your watching it doesnt get crowded. Plenty of parking space and easy accessible to the entrance compare to other theaters. They even have a drop off pick up area too. Love going here !!!
This still our favorite theater. They always keep it looking new. Theyve upgraded their projection system to stay with the current state of the art, they have reclining seats, assigned seating, great concessions. We had a great experience
Still our favorite place to watch movies. Smaller theatre but perfect.
Love this theatre! The staff are great and the facility is well maintained. The recliner seats are super comfortable and I love that the theatre isn’t too big or overcrowded. Great experience!
Comfy seats. Very clean.
Big, beautiful theater! You can pick your own seat and reserve it in advance. The seats are huge, extra wide leather reclining lounge chairs! The footrest come up and the backs recline. There store really wide arm rests and tables that swing in front of your seat for your drinks and food.Really clean theater and lobby area. Good popcorn. Easy to navigate parking lot.
They have the most comfortable chairs Ive ever sat in at a theater. I like that they recline into a bed and they have nice big trays attached to the seat to put your food on. My only complaint is that they need another food area. The theater is split into 2 buildings and theres only one food area so the line is super long and far away if your in the other building. Other than that its defiently one of the nicest theaters in the area.
Great theaters and enjoyable for the bn price and accross from the mall with accessto bar and food.
A very comfortable cinema with large reclining seats, good quality projection and decent size screens. The diversity of films shown is good, but could be better, with most of the screenings being for mainstream Hollywood features. The matinee pricing is very reasonable, however the RPX screen is a bit over priced.
Mr Rogers movie was excellent.
A local favorite. I have been coming here for years. I have loved all the updates and renovations done over the years. The seats are fantastic and most recline! With the added comfort comes an increase in price, but is cost competitive with other theaters in the area.
Theatre or is it theater? Either way it was clean and the seats lounged and the assigned seating was in a perfect spot considering the crowd so I have nothing bad to say.
No service. People that work there dont care. No air conditioning. And seats were in real bad shape. Paying a premium for recliners snd the had holes all over them.
Great theatre. Went to a matinee and the popcorn was a bit stale. Hence the 4 star.
Great place to watch a movies...but I got to thinking while lounging in those recliners....If and when are theyre ever sanitized? If not, I suggest you bring your own decontamination wipes....
Love this theater! One of my faves!! Got all the good movies!!
One of my favorite location to go to...not very crazy and busy like other theater...always feeling like at home, very welcomed ..
Biggest screen in Orange County a bit pricey but the seats are well worth the extra money. Plus its such an easy in and out of the parking lot makes for a nicer experience compared to the other movie locations.
Great to meet so many Veterans there.
Love this theater great place to see movies
The seats are the best. There was barley any people when i went to see Aladdin
Tickets can be a bit pricey but i think its totally worth the experience. Love the lazy boy recliner seats, powerful surround sound and the RPX screen is awesome! Great place for date night!
Clean, modern projection & sound, motorized recliner seating, big snack bars ... overall an excellent cinema operation.
Nice reclining leather seats.
Love coming here! The theater is always clean. I dont have to worry about waiting in line for a good seat since seats are reserved ahead of time. Plus the recliner experience is on point...keeps me coming back!
Comfy Seats and lots of Parking
If you like a stylish easy to go not too busy theater and dont mind the privileged youth and their indulgent parents. Then this May-December bastion of suburbia is the place. 2 thumbs up.
I really like this theatre since the remodel. The The mew RPX screen and the super comfortable reclining seats along with the addition of assigned seating has made this theatre our go to spot for big movie releases. Regal has fully embraced hi-tech solutions like Atom so that you can buy your tickets on your phone and show the QR code to get in. They even have a pickup area at the counter for Atom ordered snacks.
Seats are great. They recline all the way back. Sound and picture were awesome for The Last Jedi and I’m glad they had a 2D option available.
RPX Theater and one of the easiest large format screens to get to in Orange County. The theaters are split between two buildings and levels which looks very cool but it is sometimes a pain to get to the concessions during a viewing in one of the lower screens. Attentive, quick staff.
Love, love, love the newly remodeled theaters!!! So comfortable and beautiful. No more feet on the back of seats or people grabbing the back of your seat walking to their seat.............thats history. This theater is designed so well. And, much easier for wheelchair or disabled theater goers to navigate. The leather over-sized seats appear so much cleaner than the fabric seats and they recline. No more popcorn in your lap, they have practical trays for that.Well done!
My best escape place for theater.helpfull staff comfortable seats.
Great spot to watch a movie. Dont sit in the last two rows in the back-hard to see over the seats in front if they dont recline and youre short, like me! Otherwise super comfy.
Its in Newport Beach! What more needs to be said?
Huge theater. Looks old school but it has been renovated. Love the recliner seats!
Great movie theaterJust stick to ordering popcorn, candy and a soda. Its a joke how long it takes them to make just a hotdog
This was the theater to go to for premiers back in the day.. then the Irvine spectrum opened the Imax theater and everyone started flocking there. We took a chance a few months ago and bought our tickets at Big Newport.. Reserved, leather, reclining seats.. easily accessible parking.. yup, we found our new premier theater. This is again the it theater for us!
Good food great movie!
Pretty good theater. RPX is pretty nice. More options for movies than Island Cinema so I go a lot more often. Concessions are kind of expensive but that’s all theaters.
Nice ! All assigned seats, so ... no ticket takers inside. Makes sense actually. They trust their patrons, its not the otherwise common protect everything from everyone attitude. Refreshing!Upscale Newport younger crowd.I would predict that misbehavior or vandalism would be immediately caught and ruthlessly prosecuted.
Such a comfortable way to watch a movie you wont want to get up! Employees are Awesome & friendly always with a smile.
Beautiful place to hang out!
Great service, new school technology with an old school feel.
