I laughed for 90 minutes straight. Really fun group of performers. Brought a date here and it was a major hit. The alcohol is real and not a gimmick. The chosen one must have had the equivalent of 7 shots over 90 minutes. Drinks and cocktails served to your seat number and very efficient. Id go back here in a heartbeat.
Witty, funny and unforgettable! This was one of the best off-Broadway shows I have been to, and although some serious people may frown at it, I actually loved how they did a tongue-in-cheek Macbeth! I would love to go again to see if the performance is in fact different every time! One small warning: dont worry about what ticket category you buy. It is a small venue, and though we bought the most expensive ones, but ended up sitting in a spot similar to other cheaper tickets.
Brilliant performance! Knew a few works of the bard but you don’t have to be a Shakespeare geek to enjoy it.The ‘theatre’ is an intimate setting with the audience seated just around the stage. You may or may not get involved and be part of the performance. But if you do, it will be a lot of fun.Ticket includes a welcome drink, which will surely make things more interesting. And you are encouraged to snack and drink while watching as well. Nice!Seen all the Broadway shows? Didn’t get tickets to the one you wanted? Or just a Shakespeare buff? Go see this one! Definitely recommend.
I swear on Gawd herself... THIS. is the most QUINTESSENTIAL. SHAKESPEARE EXPERIENCE. EEEEEEVVERRRRRR!!!The entire repertoire and ensemble are magnificent! The venue is... just... golden! Absolutely a MUST SEE! My pictures dont do this justice, because, well inebriation happened. KUDOS ON AN EXQUISITE PERFORMANCE! Id love to see it again!
Absolute hilarious show! I took my boyfriend, who knows next to nothing about Shakespeare and even he had a great time! I love how intimate the venue was and how interactive the actors were with us before and during the show. I cant wait to go again!!
Always a good time at Drunk Shakespeare. This was my second visit and I brought my wife, who had worked in a professional Shakespeare theater for several years. I had a great time again and she really enjoyed the show and the experience. If youre planning on getting more than one drink (you should) I recommend the bottle of wine option. Prices are reasonable all around and the staff and performers really deliver a great experience.
Sophmoric fun. Good idea for a birthday celebration. Actors seemed to be genuinely having fun with the audience and each other. Good drinks served by highly dexterous and patient wait staff. Take the elevator up, walking the stairs is torture. Its not really on the second floor. Staging & production was perfect for the space. Seating was on bar stools or regular seats. For the young of heart.
The show was good, but only if you’ve actually read the play before. Other drunk Shakespeare groups I’ve been to do a better job of sticking to the Shakespeare script, whereas this show meanders a lot with many side jokes, making it difficult to follow the actual plot of the play. That said, if you actually know Shakespeare it’s a fun show and there’s a lot of laughing. The actors when they actually do perform the Shakespeare written lines are very talented Shakespearean actors. I’d recommend for a fun time and for visitors to nyc!
This was one of the more incredible shows/improvs/comedy experiences we have ever been to. It was tempting to buy tickets to another show since we were only in town for the weekend! Highly recommend, make sure to get reservations as its packed!
Show was hilarious, raunchy, true to the source, and all-around enjoyable. Doesnt require much audience participation, but be prepared to be called out!Entrance and lobby area could use some work. Its tiny, incredibly crowded, and has poor signage. Wasnt sure we were in the right place for a while. All easily fixable, though, and the show is worth it!
All I can say is that if you have not been to see Drunk Shakespeare, you are missing the boat. 1st, you will lose about 10 pounds from all the laughter they produce. The entire 5 person team are all welcoming and nice. Plus, whichever cast has the opportunity to get drunk is the luckieat. They must all have a serious alcohol tolerance! This is quite an entertaining event. I only heard of it 1 week prior, and it sounded interesting and I was not in the least disappointed. You do have options to purchase drinks and some snack foods. There is some cursing if you dont like it, deal with it. It matches the venue perfectly and is hilarious at te moments they use them. I am looking forward to going to this event many more times with different friends!!I only wish I had asked them for names to properly give them the credit deserved. I cant wait to go again, and again!!
It’s such a great experience at Drunk Shakespeare I’ve been there for three shows over the course of the last few years. I’ve even sent countless friends to this and they have all loved it. It’s Shakespeare but with a twist, one actor is drunk. This is part of the magic.
AMAZING this show is worth the money. I entered with concern about the price of ticket vs entertainment value. This show was awesome. I highly recommend outbidding folks for the King and Queen seats. Its not just Shakespeare its beyond that. If you know which play they are performing go read the cliff notes before, but even if you dont plotlines will be explained throughout the show. Its funny, raunchy, unpredictable, and most of all BRILLIANT (read with a Monty Python accent). Dont walk.....Run and get your tickets today.
Laughed too much but the well made drinks helped. The actors were all excellent and well trained in Shakespeare and I wish there had been more of it and a bit less silly. We went into this not having any idea what to expect and I am very glad we went. As a high school theatre teacher I really wish some of my more adult thinking students could see this but without the drinking so not sure if it would be lost on them. Will definitely come back!
Great experience. Not your average theater experience, or for the easily offended ones. We went there with an open mind, set up in a small but very engaging setting, the cast was funny, brilliant and very welcoming. A great different kind of evening spent.
Awesome and intimate venue where you really feel part of the show. Drinks were good and strong so you can get drunk with the performers. We laughed the entire time, but would recommend doing a Groupon on the second tier seats so you get a table. Sitting on the floor there is no place to put your drinks.
Had a blast! Be ready for full-on non-stop laughter from start to finish! Witty. Talented actors, as expected, we are in NYC after all. Ready to go back when I can.
The actors are wonderful and very talented. The show was so entertaining and engaged the audience. Very fun atmosphere and had a wonderful time!
The concept - a group of improv actors perform one of William Shakespeares plays except one of the performers will take four shots of alcohol (and potentially two more during the play) before it starts. Very funny show and great job by all those involved including the red-headed actress (whose name I cant recall and was the lucky imbiber for the evening), delivering her 300th performance. The show was about an hour and a half but it flew by and included audience participation.
Very fun, uproarious experience. Its more comedy than theater, but the performers are all impressive with their command of both Shakespeare and improv. And at least one of them is drunk, which is even more impressive! Its a funky, intimate setting decorated like a library. Go for it if you want a literary experience off the beaten path.
OMG. This is so much fun. Great way to spend an evening, especially with a group or just a date night. Great interaction with the cast and lots of laughs. Note - There are a lot of stairs to climb up to get to the theatre, so, if you have mobility issues, or wearing dress shoes, take the elevator. Also; Since there is a bit of Alcohol involved, you have to be over 21 to enter. Bring your ID, because they card everyone.
I was so excited to come to this show. And was so disappointed in 5 minutes. Not because of the actors or the production. Because of the venue. 4 weeks ago I made a decision to cut single use plastic from my life. It’s been a hard month, many restaurants, coffee shops, train stations and more have been unable to provide alternative options. So I have forgone water, food and even bathroom necessities on multiple occasions. However, I did not expect this at an entertainment venue. I asked the bar tender for water and was offers only bottled options, so I declined. I asked for simple tap water and was told that would cost $5. Unable to justify this price tag for 120ml I declined. And spent the entire show thirsty. While it’s a minor inconvenience it is symptom of the bigger problem. Institutions need to be willing to provide an alternate option to destructive landfill. Help us be better.
Super fun night of Shakespeare and shenanigans! The actors are top notch and really engaging with the audience. Check it out!
Great experience, youre a part of the play. So much fun and worth it!
So much fun. The funniest Shakespeare Ive ever seen. Dont let the funny fool you!! These actors really know their Shakespeare. The improv was fantastic.People this is one of the best shows in the city.
More than worth the price of admission!!! Definitely my favorite part of my New York trip ️
Always a super great time! Witty & funny definitely a must see! Ive taken several friends to see it and always awesome!
I had seen the ads for Drunk Shakespeare in the TodayTix app on my last few visits to NYC, and had tried unsuccessfully to talk my partner into going. 4th time is a charm! The show was outstanding! We saw Macbeth on the night we visited. The poor actor who had to skoll 4 whiskeys to start and then have further drinks throughout the play started to become a little worse for wear about halfway through (could just be great acting, how you would act sweat is beyond me!) but still remembered every line. There wasn’t an actor in the group who’s face and performance I can’t recall.I highly recommend Drunk Shakespeare and will visit every time I am in New York in future, and drag anyone I’m there with along as well!
Absolutely hilarious, recommend to anyone who is down near Times Square, great experience and wonderful cast
From the moment you walk in, the company of actors help make you feel truly welcomed and comfortable to laugh along at all the ridiculousness that is to come. Classic stories are told in a way that gives honor and respect to the original material while also bringing modern humor that will only help you appreciate Shakespeare even more.It goes with out saying how incredibly talented these actors are but to give them the credit they deserve, their talent is surpassed only by the passion they have for their art, which can seen every moment they take the stage. My husband and I went on our honeymoon. After seeing several heavy hearted shows (which have their time and place) we just wanted a night of something fun and affordable and we got more than we couldve wanted.Just go! Its a great time and you wont regret it. Well be back for sure :)
One of the most entertaining shows I’ve ever seen. Very intimate setting. High quality performers. Cheaper and more entertaining than most broadway shows. Tons of talent.
Awesome show. Hilarious! Drink was solid as well.
Hilarious! Totally worth going to watch. They give you a shot when you first enter and the audience is involved.
Very funny! I enjoyed every minute of it.
This is an excellent off-Broadway show that I think everyone should experience at some point in their lives. Its interactive Shakespeare like youve never seen it before and in such a fun intimate setting
This is a must in NYC!!! Intimate and extremely fun. We got to be a part of the action and meet everyone afterwards, that doesnt happen at most shows. Get your tickets now or be boring, because you know you are if you only do Phantom while youre here! Kisses thine worthy adversary!
Had a great time. The overall show is fun, funny, and definitely meant for adult enjoyment. When going to see this show, realize that this is first and foremost a comedy with tons of adult humor. This is not a serious play with some light drinking and humor. It is meant to draw in the audience and allow for some interactive fun. If you are not open to crazy, adult humor, do not go see this show. If you want to have fun.....Hell Yeah!!!
Best spur of the moment purchase. Improve meets Shakespeare. Would go back again and again. Perfect way to see a place it and comedy all in one. Has groupons
A friend and I attended a performance of this zany audience participating show last night and had a FANTASTIC TIME!!!The actors are sharp, quick witted and absolutely hysterical, add a cocktail or two and you have a recipe for a fabulous evening. A special shout out to Josh, the Master of Ceremonies. Josh was especially engaging, funny and masterful at his craft.Obviously, I recommend the show and look forward to going back for a repeat performance.
Great show!!!! We bought the day of and so happy with the show and experience. Love the small intimate seating the show offers and mostly importantly its hilarious.
Awesome off Broadway comedy experience with drink service. This was one of the coolest things we did in NYC. We got our tickets on Groupon and it was worth every penny. The actors were extremely talented and hilarious from start to finish. 10/10 would recommend!
I cannot say enough about this fantastic performance! Highly, highly recommended for audiences searching for a hilariously entertaining evening.
The first time I went they were very funny and it was a blast. The second time I went was a lesser quality show. Id see them again, it is a really fun night!
Fantastic experience! Even better than advertised. A must do for those looking for a great, unique experience while in NY. Had an amazing time. Talented, attractive performers were a delight.
Great fun with a talented cast.
Great fun just off Broadway!
Best show on Broadway. Filled with laughs all the way through. The actors are truly excellent, the staging is incredible and the crowd involvement is nothing like youve ever experienced before.
One of the best live performances I have seen in my life. If you love theatre, comedy, debauchery you muat go to this show.
Interesting experience. Bone up on your MacBeth (the play they were doing at the time) or you might be a bit lost. Get your tickets at TKTS for half off. Sit in the upper portion of the arena if you dont want to be possibly participating in the show. Fun time, but the drinks are pricey. $9 PBR...but its kinda close to Broadway...right?
This was belly-laugh hilarious.
Definitely the funniest thing Ive witnessed in my life. Well worth the money and I will be back. Take the chances to be part of the show and youll have a great time
An absolute blast. I have not laughed so hard in yearssss. This place was just the best. Crowd interaction was fun, the cast was amazing. I’m going again, I’m going again!
Show was fantastic hilarious and fun.Loved the audience participation I give itAwesome thumbs up. It was great. Would see again!!!
Awesome show!! Deff worth it
By golly this was absolutely amazing. The actors were friendly, hilarious, and interacted with the audience in just the same way they would have in Shakespearian times. It was held in a very cozy library environment, great drinks as you might expect, and they presented a modern take on a classic play that was a great joy to be a part of. I recommend anyone whos even remotely considering going to get tickets right now and check it out!
Literally the funniest production of anything I’ve ever seen - ever. I saw 25 plays and musicals in a year and this was by FAR my favorite to date. Can’t recommend it enough!
Went in expecting an interesting show. Then proceed to laugh my @$$ off!!! If you get the chance to, it is a must see. If they dont get a king and queen get your auctioning hat on - because there will be some bidding for the honor. Talent + Drinking = Go to THIS show!
One of the best off Broadway shows Ive ever seen
Fantastic show! So glad we went -- laughed my *** off! Highly recommended!
A unique and extremely entertaining night out. Recommended greatly. The cast improvises on the spot and incorporates the audience as well. A fantastic experience.
Hilarious show - would highly recommend. Incredibly talented cast and great concept
We had a great time, definitely a must-see!
Got to the show 20 minutes early, bartender refused to serve us because the event was about to start. So we stood crammed in a room until they finally let us in for drinks. As soon as we got seated we ordered a bottle of wine and didnt receive it until 10 minutes remained in the show, aka it took 80 minutes to deliver a bottle of wine.
Great way to unwind from the day. The cast and company were great. I would recommend this to anyone that visits NY.
Funnier than lots of stand up shows Ive seen in the city, lots of fun. Enabling if youre recovering, but who cares. Nothing better than watching drunk actors who are good enough to win a Tony perform Shakespeare after 6 shots tequila. Its a meta-imersive experience and a ton of fun. Whether you live in NYC or are here on vacation, its worth it.
This is hands-down one of the best things you can do in New York! It’s affordable theater, lots of fun, lots of laughs, and most importantly a ton of drinks. The actors are hilarious and their improvisational skills are super impressive. I make it a point to go every time I visit NYC!
Erudite raunchy ribaldry. A show to delight both royalty and groundlings.
The best improve show I’ve ever seen, must see!
Excellent show! Worth every penny.
One actor slams a few drinks, the others try to keep the show on track as they take a stab at something from the Bard’s repertoire. If you’re looking for something fun and different to do in New York (or Chicago for that matter) I strongly recommend Drunk Shakespeare! I don’t know Macbeth as well as I know some of Shakespeare’s works, and after tonight, I don’t know it much better, but it was certainly the most hilarious production I’ll ever see.
Fantastic cast, so entertaining and full of surprises! Id recommend to everyone even if you havent read anything other than Romeo and Juliet, although its funnier if youre a little familiar with the major plays.
This show was everything I was hoping it would be! Attended tonight the 8pm session and I was pleased that it was an intimate space with great actors. I really enjoyed myself and found the show really funny and interactive. Would definitely recommend for something different and fun to do in NYC
A really fun evening plan. The close seats allow for direct interaction with the cast members during the show although every seat has a really good view. Tickets start from just around 50 dollars and you can get drinks served all through the play.
Entertaining 60 min
One of the best things we did wile visiting NYC. The performers are down to earth and absolutely hilarious, even before the show starts. The drinks are pricey, especially if you buy from the bar before the show begins, but all worth it for the performance.
The funniest best show around...absolute must see
Even if you dont know the bards work as well as you wish you did, come. A group of fun-loving actors and actives have created a real treat and memorable evening.
Had a great time. The show was hysterical and the drinks were excellent and surprisingly affordable. There are a lot of stairs.
Show was fantastic hilarious and fun.Loved the audience participation I give itAwesome thumbs up. It was great. Would see again!!!
Such a fun show! Ive seen it a few times now and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. The cast is witty, quick and engaging throughout the show. Its also regularly updated with topical jokes and references. I think this is a show worth experiencing with friends. Makes for a great night out!
Close quarters improv and scripted show. Good fun.
Fun environment and concept. I could do without the political rants and intolerance of those who disagree with their liberal leaning. Would have been a great experience if they at least showed tolerance to those with differing opinions rather than antagonize. To be fair it was only one actor who took it too far and exhibited a complete disrespect for others.
Oh I cant express enough how this needs to be a bucket list item on every thespian and or college educated persons radar. Try the scotch flight for $40!!! Johnny Walker blue is 1 of the 3 offerings included on it. At that price point ...... ENOUGH SAID! The players which includes audience members keeps the evening moving along with gut busting laughs with sprinkles of the Kings English spoken in iambic pentameter patterns. Nah.... I made that shyt up. The actors are in fact learned in Shakespearean works. Imagine Steinfeld meets Shakespeare on 125th St and they roll down to the East Village for drinks. Remember your drinking as it all unfolds before you. Mastery craftsmanship under the influence........ Not only did I attend, Im an unofficial official clandestine card carrying member.
A great time. The players kept the audience involved and entertained. Definitely a do over.
Definitely a fun time. the actors/actresses were amusing and talented.
It was hilarious. I goofed buying the tickets and the guy at the door was very nice. I like it how it was a mixture of fun and serious. Some of the actor’s monologues was impressive. It is crude but hilarious. My husband and I both enjoyed it and actually said we wanted to see it again.
Went last night with my mom who was visiting from Maine and had the absolute best time! The cast members, especially Josh, were hilarious and talented and the set was super cool. I highly highly recommend. A really quality time!!
If you appreciate talented, funny, sharp witted improv theatre then this show is for you. Its adult themed so expect some Shakespearean lewd antics, sexual references and a lot of extremely well timed swearing. Dont go if you are prudish and/or are expecting a traditional performance of the Bards works. We laughed solidly for 90 mins. Dont be nervous of being close to the action with the seating. It really makes it a special and immersive experience. Where the cast involve the audience, it is done with due skill and care. Everyone is made to feel part of the performance. Go see it. It is extremely funny.
Ive been to the show 3 times and definitely going back for more. The cast and crew is always changing things up, always just as funny and great. Get there in time for the best seats, Ive almost always been the last to be seated but always fully enjoyed.
