The Blue Note Jazz Club is one of New Yorks great jazz clubs, always showcasing some of the greatest music jazz has to offer. Over the years visiting New York, Ive had some great musical experiences here. It is also worth checking out their late night sets featuring lesser known musicians. The tickets at cheaper at the bar than at the tables. The tables are closer to the scene, and you dont have to eat at Theres a gift shop in the second floor, and the people working here are great.
This is a favorite of mine. Been going here for more than 15 years. What people should know when they come is that this venue is tabled and when you make a reservation for a table you pay the ticket for the show as well as your dinner/drinks all on the check at the end. Additionally the table seating is close quarters and youll be sitting with other people. I say all this because sometimes encounter people who arent familiar with how things work. Recently I went to a show here and there were people who kept trying to put their bags and coats on all the seats instead of using coat check. Its a crowded venue and the servers need to get by, all the seats will get taken so you cant just come in here and spread yourself out. The servers are always great. The food is good here. For appetizers I like the crab cake! The shrimp is also good. Flourless chocolate cake is the best dessert here.
The world famous jazz club in the West Village! Its expensive but worth it, as the club is very intimate. Its always open and many jazz greats and some up and coming stars, like Matthew Whitaker who we saw tonight hit the stage. They have cheaper bar seats by the front door on a first come first served basis. Great sound system and good service. Food is also pricey but decent. Make use to go upstairs and use the bathroom before the show starts, because you will be in tight quarters!
Great legendary jazz experience, it is quite pricey for the entry fee. But if there is an interesting lineup artist (e.g. Chris Botti). I think it is quite worth it for a good experience up close. In case we just want to check out the club real quick, we could request the security to go check out their souvenir store on the 2nd floor is also okay as well.
Had a great time. Definitely worth checking out for some of NYCs best jazz! Solid menu and nice bourbon selection. Be sure to make reservations.
I absolutely love the Blue Note! Went to a Motown Review Brunch and had a fantastic time. I cant wait to go back again. The food was good and the cocktails were even better. The atmosphere embodies the history of the Blue Note. The crowd was very mature.
One of the great jazz clubs. What more can I say? Get here early to get a good seat. Warning: you are packed in! Youll get to know your neighbor well. Thus, the importance of getting here early: in order to get an end seat. As for the music, well you already know its the best...
Music is always great. Food not so good. So eat before or after. Place smells, but its a NYC Jazz Bar.
Sunday brunch Jazz with Gustavo Casenave Trio. Top performance as expected. A must place to go if you like to listen to NY jazz.
Fun Jazz ... entertainment, food and beverages, wonderful staff ... did I mention great jazz?Hey...whats not to love?
Iconic place to visit. Talented performers, sometimes it was difficult to understand when the performers were speaking. Appetizer plates were small, but overall we had a nice time.
Wonderful experience! Great music with a very enjoyable atmosphere.
The place is really popular and so it’s pretty much always packed, especially during the weekends. I would recommend booking a table in advance because me and my friends didn’t and ended up paying a $35 cover each. The drinks are pretty standard and cost about $15 on average. The ambience is pretty good and if you enjoy Jazz music you’ll have a good time here.
Great venue, but you might wanna avoid sitting nearby the piano as the seats are very close to the bar. It gets a bit noisy at the start even though all the employees are very nice and trying hard not to make unnecessary noises. But Blue Note is one of my favourite jazz venue for sure!
Went to see the Dizzy Gillespie All Stars. Really enjoyed it. Sound was good, atmosphere is cozy and food was okay. Even though it was an All star show, it was very enjoyable. Every performer on stage was really gifted, and the pianist is a prodigy! He stole the show.
A classic Jazz Club. We saw Chris Botti during his 15th annual Christmas run and he and the assembled musicians put on an excellent show. It was almost two hours of high energy, and unique compositions with Chris’ trumpet, alto sax, electric violin, electric guitar, bass, drums and piano.
Very nice ambiance. Went to listen to some live jazz one weekend night. The staff are friendly. The drinks were good. Food delicious. The mac n cheese is to die for! Would go back again.
Legendary spot for the music aficionado. For a smallish place phenomenal sound quality. Every musician who plays here is always top notch. Food and drinks not cheap, but very well prepared always. Have been here many times over the years and it always amazes me. Got to be on your bucket list.
I went to blue note to listen to jazz. The show was beautiful and very light. The musicians and the singers did a beautiful job and performed in harmony.I would come back again.
The jazz was spectacular. The service was excellent an not intrusive. The tables are really packed together, but I got there early and get an outside seat in front of the stage. Only ordered a salad so no comment on the food. Portions did seem good.
I recommend you go here strictly for the entertainment and drinks. The food was not up to par in my opinion and the prices were steep. As far as the entertainment goes the live music was really good. The place is cramp and fills up quick so I suggest you get there early. Overall this place is good for the music and drinks otherwise I wouldn’t just eat there.
Arrived around 5:00 for 8:00 performance. Got seated around 6:00. Great show without doubt! Blue Note itself is a bit small and old compared with Birdland and Sony Hall. Food is meh.
Great venue for live performances right I. The heart of the village. Small and intimate - Ive seen a few performers here. Most recently I saw Roy Ayers who was dynamite man!!! Always check their site for upcoming performances. You love music, youll love this venue. Staff is very professional, bartenders are top class!!
Not for the middle class. Made a mistake of inviting 2 friends there some time ago, ended up covering close to $700 bill before tip. People were crammed in a small space.
We didnt buy tickets ahead but were able to get in and get a good table. The club has a great vibe and we loved the band. The alcohol and food is not super cheap but not super expensive as well. The table sitting is 35 per person and there is 5 dollar minimum, in my opinion the live music and the great performers worth it.
Crowded, but what an incredible experience. We spent the night at Blue Note for Chris Botti’s performance. The band was incredible, the pianist, young Holger Marjamaa from Estonia unbelievably talented. 2 hours of great music, immerse in the perfect and intimate atmosphere of the Blue Note
Saw Chris Botti here and it was a fantastic show. The sound system was crisp and clear. Had dinner as well and the food was tasty. The only reason I’m giving four stars instead of 5 is because you are packed in that room like sardines. Be prepared to get to know your neighbors because you are practically sitting on top of each other. If you are in any way claustrophobic, this is not the place for you.
Menu is good. Live music great. Atmosphere is awesome! Love Bronx beer
Definitely a fancier outing out of all our places to visit. Im not a huge jazz fan but still enjoyed it! Bartender was really nice too!
Great place to watch great jazz music and food is great! Drinks are good and tried the maple old fashioned on the rocks!
Small intimate venue. Quick food service. Great vibes.
The band was phenomenal I was there for my birthday brunch celebration and the servers were so nice. I will ne back for sure. The singer of the band came over and took picture with me and gave me a CD for my birthday everyone was so wonderful
This historic gem in the village is a must visit for tourists and natives alike!Recently saw Stanley Clarke and Ron Carter, amazing! Usually dont eat when I visit but tried their Vega Farfel Pasta and was pleasantly surprised
Worth it! Ok first of all, the jazz here is outstanding! The experience is nice, with tables and service with good food (not great food) and nice drinks. The space is tight but that just makes for a cozy atmosphere. However, for me personally I wouldn’t go back because it just was too fancy for me and would prefer something like Village Vanguard. However, that’s not say its worth a visit for sure!
Cool place. Mt friend Jermaine Holmes had a album release, check him out, Stronger Than My Fears, and it was great. Blue note is great for a date.
Very small, but so worth it if youre into jazz.
Great jazz venue, exquisite musicianship and tasty food. Recommend table seating with seats on the open end of the table. Very tight space packed full of jazz aficionados.
Great show, great food, super great service. We saw Hypnotic Brass, had amazing seats, and continuous water thanks to our amazing waitress.I would recommend for a date night, or night out with friends who enjoy Jazz.
Saw Phony Ppl at Blue Note as part of their residency. They sounded great and the crowd was into it. I sat at the table which felt a bit cramped. Service was quick and attentive though.
Great show! Customer service is tops! Very friendly cashier in gift shop. Food and drinks also excellent! Maurice Browns bday celebration, thank you for an awesome show,we will be back!!!
Such a great venue to see musicians and hear them perform. Most small venues blast the sound which distorts the music. Blue Note has a well balanced sound system which delivers high quality sound. Food was average, drinks ok. We saw Cindy Blackman Santana who was amazing as was her band.
Went to see Arturo Sandoval he was fantastic first time I reserved a table I usually stand at the bar. But a bit pricey at $55.00 per person just to sit. Sound is still excellent in the Blue Note . But overall it is worth it when you come out with a big smile on your face from the preformance.
The music and drinks is 4 stars, the food 1. The cheese platter is your safe bet. Burger done medium.
The dirtiest and cleanest place Ive ever been. Cool spot. Watch yourself as you get off the subway there. Lotta sketchballs in that area
Well known jazz club in NYC, has many drink and snacks options. Hosting talented musicians from all over the world. Wouldn’t mind if they update the interior a bit, with more comfortable chairs, but overall- great experience
This cozy club hasnt changed much over the years. The tables are packed tight, the seating is squished, but the crew gets the job done with remarkable elan. Add in world class performers, you just have to experience it.
I went to see a Victor Wooten show at the Blue Note on 7/23/19. Admission was $45 for a table seat and $30 to sit or stand by the bar. Seating is very tight. They cram 6 people at each little table and you barely have room to move your arms. The drinks are small and expensive. Alcohol at shows is usually a ripoff but $15 for a tiny juice glass of vodka and club soda is ridiculous. The food is equally expensive. The show was good but a little too short. Possibly because it was the early show and they needed to clear everyone out before the late show. The sound was good and clear and I had a great view from my table right in front of the stage.
Very good time. It was crowded but its Chris Botti. We were able to upgrade from bar area to a table and it was awesome. Grateful they worked with us.
Neat little jazz bar in the village. They get great talent. The venue itself is a great atmosphere and the crowd is usually great with listening and not talking loudly. The drinks are definitely pricey so be ready to spend a few dollars on that. Otherwise its a great spot, the cover is never too high, and youll have a great time.
Loved it! Service was a bit slow. Music was amazing.
Too many bad seats with no site line. Sound system is excellent. Food options are traditional, did not dine there. Been in clubs like Jazz Standard which do not pack customers against walls with no site lines. Not worth the $100+ fees....
Music was absolutely amazing. Would give this a 5 star rating if not for the absolutely garbage food. Brought my wife here on our anniversary as she loves jazz music however we were quite surprised at how bad the food was especially considering the exorbitant amount we were being charged for them. If someday they can improve on their food quality, I might be inclined to bring this to a 5 star
The drinks were strong but delicious and the atmosphere was amazing. I felt a bit in the way when I went upstairs (for their bathroom and gift shop) because that is also the backstage for the bands but it wasnt that big of a deal.
Motown lovers alert! Dont miss Saturday brunch here, its just too much fun for the daytime!
Great place to get an up close look at an artist performing. The servers are attentive and the food is pretty good.
Absolutely loved the experience. The music and drinks were great. The waitress was lovely to me despite me spilling a drink on the table and in front of this couple who was sitting with us.
Very good for live performances by noted jazz artists; I was lucky enough to witness Take 6 deliver a masterful set.The venues size lends itself to an intimate feel with tables arranged right up to the stage (though the chairs are so closely placed together it can feel a bit too intimate!).The food is tasty, the cocktails well made and the staff friendly and attentive. Thoroughly recommended if you love jazz.
Legendary Jazz Club. Been there for Eric Krasno show! Impressive! Nice sound by the way. Good food and cocktails at reasonable prices.
Always worth a stop. So much history and world-class musicians!
The quintessential NY jazz club. Get in line early for a good table. Service was awesome. Acoustics are great. If you can be there at the holidays, catch Chris Botti during his homestand.
Amazing environment, very chill and laid back type of scene. Always playing good music and the cocktails are totally great.
Amazing venue for live music and good eats before the show. Excellent staff, fast kitchen and an excellent selection of beer, wine and alcohol. Sound is phenomenal and the tables are literally set inches from the stage. Get there early for best seats. Perfect for live Jazz, Blues, and even singer songwriter formats of music. A classic!
We had huge expectations and it did not disappoint. This mythical venue is still, understandably, the golden standard for all jazz clubs in the world.
Went to see a show. Had a wonderful time with family.
Saw Decade of Soul. They are there every Saturday. Definitely a mid see. Nice venue and great service
Where else in the world would you want to be on international jazz day?
Fancy jazz bar, better get a reservation or go there early for making sure you have a seat. The seats are very small, and no much soace. All the people need to share the tables.
C’mon! Youre in NYC and you dont venture out to see some of the best soul/jazz performed live. You have to experience the blue note.
Incredible experience to visit this classic club and here such soulful and rejuvenating music.
A really good venue for music. Get the early for a good seat. Pricey of course.
Traditional jazz club with top level jazz acts. Trendy crowd. A must visit place in NYC. If you love jazz, this the club for you.
It was AMAZING!!!. We ordered the fried calamari as appetizer it was good. The music was great. Ourr waitress was very nice. I will definitely go back.
Great place for live shows. Prices are affordable, especially if you sit on rhe bar.
This used to be my spot. Now they charge you a $55 cover to see certain people and sell over priced food. Portions and quality of food do not match the price. Order was wrong. Drinks are lame and overpriced as well. Very disappointed with my visit.
Enjoyed. Had a great time. Guest was very good. Atmosphere was nice
Jazz capital of the world. A lot of history in that room. I recommend reserving your tickets in advanced. Seat selection is first come, first served so you should get in line early. Shows may also start later than ticket time.
Blue Note Jazz Club is a very cool place. I went there for the second time a week a go and i had very good time. I definitely recommend this place.
Saw Chris Botti, trumpeter, and his band tonight. He brought along several guest performers and the whole gig was hot. Great crowd, atmosphere was energetic and upbeat, left you dancing and pumped up. We like to eat there late- Chef runs out of snapper, bread not served with ravioli, waitress doesnt ask if you want coffee or dessert afterwards. They could make more of an effort here.
Absolute highlight of our trip. Not a bad table there, but get there approx an hour earlier than your booked time to get the closest tables to the stage. I had the steak which was very nice, a definite step up from the usual chicken in a basket type of food you usually find from jazz clubs.
I envited my wife for her birthday at bluenote. Show was starting at 8 pm we went there by 7:30 but show didn’t start until 8:25. We had expectation to stay snd enjoy show at least one hour and a half or two hours that’s why we came here. Music was the only reason. Show lasted 45 minutes only. I paid 200 for two person just to enjoy 45 minute show. Another show was starting at 10:30 pm we had two wait one hour and a half. We are very disappointed i will never come back here.
You will love this venue BUT, be sure to reserve a TABLE and get there AT LEAST an hour and a half to two hours early. It will well be worth the wait!!!
Blue note have great artists come to perform the only issue is that after all this time you would think that they would have renovated the inside seating so youre not sitting on top of others. They smush you in like sardines in a can. The Manhattan Transfers were performing tonight and we ended up grabbing seats and situating ourselves so others as well as ourselves would be a bit more comfortable. We had the shrimp avocado sandwich which comes on a croissant with French fries. I thought the shrimp would have been grilled (hot) but it was cold like shrimp cocktail but it was tasty. We had a good time. A great waitress.
Blue not never disappointed me what a great time my mother fly from Peru to attend Chris Bottis show .A great place to enjoyed every talented musicians
I have seen some awesome musicians here obviously. It is always cramped though, the service staff is not careful (maybe its intentional - it IS NY ) and will continually run into you which ruins the experience a bit.
Cant believe its been two years. It was a wonderful memory with my late husband. We saw Bob James and he was incredible! The service was wonderful, food ok but overall it will be somewhere very special because of my husband and our love of Jazz. I will be going this December to see Chris Botti but without him. It will be bittersweet. As I wish he was with me.
This is an amazing, intimate, classy venue with great staff a gift shop and lively environment. If you havent been you owe it to yourself to attend a show.
Good price and great ambience. I sat at the bar and despite not seeing the scenario really well, I got to chat with people and the bartenders service was excellent.
First time today at the legendary Blue Note. I had a blast! It is kind of small but cozy and relaxing vibe. The feat. artist was Yko Ito Quintet feat. Romero Lubambo The hostness was really nice. The only think was our food came really late toward the end of the show and the people sitting next to me got the wrong order twice. I think our waitress was having a really bad day. I dont know. We all have those some times. But overall will be coming back again to get my jazz on! .
Music was good, food was ok, service was so-so, the drinks were heavily over priced.
Wonderful venue with incredible live jazz musicians! We had a great time here thanks to the friendly staff serving great cocktails and tasty food. Blue Note is one of the best places where you can enjoy fantastic live performances in an intimate atmosphere.
Legendary jazz spot. Must be place for music loving people
No better place for Jazz in NYC
Good food. Great atmosphere. Awesome music.
OMG - Wow!! A pure delight to watch a show in this legendary place. And the Maceo Parker engagement was pure fun to boot!
Is this the house of Jazz...maybe in the past.Is it worth the visit NO.Despite the heavy price paid for a table they will put you in tiny table for six where also in four you woukd have been narrow and under the policy first come first served. It means you will need to arrive at least 2 hours prior the show if you want to have a decent place.Food it is limited and quite of poor quality.Staff its pretty basically trained and the service is below the average.Honestly it has become just a tourist attraction. You may have far better experience in different concerts, same artist, better enviroment.
