Serendipity got us to go here and we truly felt the spirit of NY jazz last Tuesday night. We heard a wonderful Blues show (Jerry Dugger) as well as a guitarist who played wonderfully. Too bad we were just visiting NY for a few days only or else, we would be there every night! Good luck. We hope to be back next time we are in NYC.
This venue transcends time and space. It is a room where music history was made and recorded, and you feel it as soon as you walk in. Such an amazing space, and such an amazing management bringing it back to the present and future. Dont take it for granted and make it a must stop for jazz and blues in the city.
This historic jazz venue appears at first glance to be nothing more than an unfinished basement storeroom. But close your eyes for a minute and youll feel the presence of Miles Davis, Art Blakey and the other jazz greats who played here. Monday nights are an unusual treat, when radio personality Matthew Fat Cat Rivera plays rare 78 RPM jazz records from the 1920s, 30s and 40s.
Amazing spot, top notch players, great drinks, nice owner, lots of history here, definitely check it out!
Very cool to have this historic space again for live music. Looking forward to coming back soon.
