A few years ago my brother and another famous heavyweight boxer was in the heavyweight explosion for sports illustrated. The Hammerstein Ballroom had a boxing ring with break dancing and more.I was so happy that this beautiful venue, could create a huge sporting event before a huge boxing match.Everyone working at the Hammerstein ballroom was really kind to me and my brother during our visit to New York.
Never have a bad time at this place. There’s so much room. Went here for a country concert last Friday and it was amazing. Amazon live streamed the concert too which was interesting. I will say the balcony isn’t a bad spot for people who do not like to get lost in the crowd but general admission isn’t bad either.
Venue is meh at best. Generally admission for balcony but they put out chairs so its super awkward. Why not just sell seats so you dont have people wander around asking if that seat is empty every time the person next to you grabs a drink and you basically have to stay seated because if you stand you dont see any of the stage anymore since the balcony above ceiling is really low. Drinks are 15 for call alcohol at least there is an option for doubles at $5 more. Speaker by us was kind of shot but the band is the reason for the stars. Hozier was great. If you go to Hammerstein, go early especially if you have balcony seats, standing wont help. If you have pit go early too and dont drink from what I saw above there is no movement in that crowd.
How is there not one single ecw picture on here?
Saw Alice in Chains here. Staff were very nice, beautiful venue. Great experience.
Here for the NYXL Homestand. Ballroom is nice. Acoustics are great. Lots of space. Good spot for the homestand.
Love this venue! But only on the floor T sound is great, security is usually quick and staff is friendly. The balcony seats are useless because they are so far from stage and you cant see anything from there.
Its a pretty neat venue. The problem is done of the seats on the sides get blocked out by the side balconies. The seats themselves are not really comfortable either.
The place is small, went here to see Roh (ring of honor) overall 3 stars due to service and how small this place is.
What can I say about the old Hammerstein? Standing room mostly if you don’t want to from the extra money for the side seats. But otherwise great sound and space to see a concert. Winter time coat check downstairs and bar on the main floor.
I absolutely love this venue. The balcony seats are great if you are coming to a more relaxed performance or if youre coming with a group of people. As for Metal or Rock shows, for those adventurous ones who dont mind taking the Floor space (and standing on their feet pressed against the rail for 3 hrs), its a great way to let some steam off and dance (if you manage to find the space!). You will certainly get a wonderful view of the musician(s) from the Floor area!
Its a nice venue but if you are in the balcony and you are a few rows back you cannot see things that are going on above the stage. We saw a concert there and they were playing videos on a large screen behind the performers but we could not see the top of the video screen from the balcony which was very frustrating. It caused us to miss a lot of the concept of the entire concert.
I saw Melanie Martinez here and had the time of my life!! Its beautiful inside!! And whoever the bartenders are AMAZING!!! Those drinks were damn good lol
Best place in the city to have a large company party. Its conveniently located in the middle of the city, which is perfect for any company in NYC or Jersey.
Seen Hozier ! The ballroom itself is absolutely beautiful and the staff was super kind and helpful
It’s a decent hall for concerts~
Easy to find, easy access to the subway, and the event staff were friendly.
Hammerstein is one of the better venues for concerts, quick lines, bars spread out, bathrooms are good too.
This is a classic location with incredible acoustics
Small but decent place Ive seen ROH
Love this venue! Great floor, balconies are good too so long as you’re not in the back!! Expensive drinks but whatever.
Me and my friend attended the anisong world matsuri concert on Saturday the 17th and had a wonderful time! The security were super nice. They came around and asked if anybody wanted drinks and then proceded to check ids and put a 21 and over wrist band on. The Security went by really fast. Right when we walked in they started checking bags and then let us go. The stage area is the perfect size for a concert. The VIP section near the front was big enough to walk around it and sit down. The concert also was amazing! After the concert we had a high five event and when we walked out, the staff gave us our VIP goods! Overall I would totally attend a concert here again!
Beautiful venue, with plenty of floor space and seating space. Wouldnt have any qualms about going to a show there again!
We saw Luke Combs perform here and it was amazing!!! We were on the floor and people were always bumping into us but once Luke was on the stage, it didnt even matter.
Very nice venue! I had a great time. Organized, clean and nice acoustic.
Good venue. Fair prices on drinks. Friendly staff
Went to a concert there for the first time. The venue was very nice!! Looking forward to going back!
Broadwaybears 2019 was amazing! Looking forward to next year
Great night with Peloton!
First time here for a concert in the city. The security will check your bag(s) and ask you to empty your pockets when you first enter. Youll go through the scanner and theyll check your ticket. The ballroom looks amazing. Even the balcony seats didnt look bad, not in the very least. Youll enjoy yourself if you came for a good time.
Great sound and sight lines. Amon Amarth, arch enemy and at the gates were great!
The Hammerstein Ballroom was a great place to see a country concert. I saw Kip Moore here, and the tall ceilings provided great acoustics. There was a lot of space for both seating, and standing. It was cool how the doors essentially open up to the the huge ballroom. It’s a really incredible sight, and it makes the ballroom feel a lot less crowded than it actually is.
Saw Hozier here, was comfortable seating and was too far from the station
Came here to see bring me the horizon. Great space and great everything. The crowd was awesome and the pit was sweet as bonkers. Come again for sure. Rock on!
The HOME of ECW!
Great place to catch a concert. General admission is first come first serve so plan accordingly. Sound is best from the first balcony and drinks are typically $9 each. Plenty to do before amd after the show within a few blocks.
Saw M. Night Shyamalan here at Comic Con for the second time. Great talk. The panek for the servant were also great. Fun atmosphere. They serve snacks and alcohol here. I been wanting to come here since I saw ECW One night stand on PPV(a WWE event). Hope Wrestlemania happens here one day.
Always have a good time here.
An awesome place to see a show!! Its designed with the old world charm.. almost like the Roseland Ballroom. Much more intimate of an experience than a place like Madison Square Garden.
Amazing seats if you get the right tickets.
Hard to see if youre on the floor, which i didnt expect. Otherwise a very nice venue. Large well maintained bathrooms.
Had perfect balcony seats go see Jorja Smith. She was amazing and I had a blast!! I just wish there was complimentary water, even tap water, something at the bar. I was thirsty but found it ridiculous that my only option was a $6 small bottle of water. Besides that
Great venue. Very intimate setting
Had an awesome service with Hillsong church here on Sundays.
Great small venue with great ataff
We selected seats in the Balcony over standing room on the floor. The venue from our seats was very good, well laid out with bathrooms and bars that were accessible and short lines, even at intermission. The sound was not great, dont know if its the acoustics or the sound guys.
I was here? Musta been fun
Pretty old fashioned venue that does a lot of general admission shows. The line is often around the block. I am not the sort of person who will stand in line for 8 hours, personally, I chose to walk around Midtown instead; I still got in and had a good time. Security is fairly heavy but not as bad as some places I have been to. I have been to venues in small cities that are much more strict than this one. You are allowed to bring in an empty bottle. The acoustics are good for electric and rock music.
This a beautiful place! The ceiling is so pretty. I went here to Hillsong Church, what a great experience!
I saw a stage show here. My seats were first row balcony so I was very happy. Good sound and field of view. I would go again.
I attend hillsong church services, nice ballroom
Another awesome Ring of Honor matc & another amazing meet & greet with Matt Taven. I had to add another meet & greet picture at the Hammerstein Ballroom. December 2018 Ring of Honor match. Me & Marty Scurll! SO AWESOME !!!
I know im a lot late to write this but on December 2017, I went to the ROH Final Battle. I remember a famous person came as a fan to the event and she was in my section so I got excited to go up to her and get a photo. During the photo, I accidentally was in front of the security guard since he was leaning on the wall, I sort of was too close and he yelled at me. I wasnt aware that I was too close because I got too excited and didnt realize it. I was a little embarrassed in front of the famous fan and that stuck with me for almost 2 years. I had a great time at the show but that security guard was mean. And the security guard ruined my photo with his angry look.
Awesome event with Marie Forleo last night.
Nice venue, easy to get to.
GA floor is terrible here - go for the balcony if you dont want a bad night.
Stood in a line to see the band PRETTYMUCH for hours, when I got to the line the line itself was wrapping around so security allowed the people that wrapped around to cut the line, when the doors opened I was pushed from my spot at the front of the line to the back with security just watching, when I finally.got to ticket check, the lady that was doing the scanning was so rude !!! She let three groups of people go in front of me and when I said something she said youre all going to the same place even though I had pit so first.come first serve. Then when I asked she said I dont get paid enough for this when wr got in they held back kenzie ziegler ( the opening acts ) performance, even though that wasnt in her part as she was ready, then when people passed out security took it as a joke and were having a fun time out of it which upset one of the PRETTYMUCH members, Zion to get upset making him say you guys have to help her someone help her you guys act like I can jump off.the stage referring to the security, they also held PRETTYMUCH performance back as well. They also charged $6 dollars for a soda so i wouldnt buy from themThe performers were the only thing that made.this the best night because the peope.that worked for the venue were so rude
Hammerstein is simply a solid space for a concert. When the artist can pack the floor, be ready for a party. Great views with no obstructions and solid sound. Balcony seating is only okay - its not my favorite, but its comfortable enough if you dont want to crowd in on the standing floor.I will say that Hammerstein does seem quite strict on curfew though. Dont expect to see any crazy encores that extend past midnight here.
Really beautiful building. Came through on tour. Good local crew and a good house PA
Large space for events. I went to see AniSong during Anime NYC. It was a great concert featuring various Japanese pop artists. The hall is large and as a standing area is prefer a standard concert type experience. At the top there is seating if you prefer to sit and watch.
Carly rae and her amazing fans made this a 5
Great Place to attend NJPW and Ring of Honor Wrestling!!!
Comfortable place and great workers who helped guide us through the crowds to get to where we needed to be
Great venue for a concert.
I was there for an installation for Samsung launch and after party.
Buying tickets an absolute nightmare. Only venue in NYC that doesnt have the box office open unless they have an event. So you have no choicer if you want advanced tickets for an event but to go to ticketmaster and pay the loan shark style services. 3 tickets for Amon Amarth would cost $118.50 but with Ticketmasters vig goes to $160 for the same tickets not counting shipping. Never had to worry about this with Irving Plaza, Playstation Theater, Gramercy Theatre. Only this place.
I had a great time at the Hammerstein Ballroom! I went to see my favorite J-pop group, Perfume.
Great venue smack bang in the centre of midtown
Really nice venue, though be prepared for long lines to get in. If given the choice, the balcony seats are very nice as they are tiered seating and really not that far away. The floor area is flat and may or may not have seats put out depending on the show. Since theres no incline on the floor, shorter people will likely have a very hard time seeing.I saw Game Grumps and Lets Play Live in 2016 here. Had VIP tickets for Lets Play, so we were able to snag 3rd row aisle seats on the floor which were really nice. Im only 53, and it would have been difficult to to see over the larger people in front of me, but we were at an angle from the unobstructed aisle, so it wasnt a problem. Floor seats in the back would have been terrible for me. The balcony seats for Game Grumps were really good. Even though I was farther back I could see over the row in front of me easily. In both shows, the sound acoustics in the venue were pretty great. In both shows the venue doors were supposed to open an hour before the show, but I think it took at least an hour and 40 minutes at Game Grumps to seat everyone. Lets Play Live wasnt quite as long, but it was still over an hour to let folks in and they didnt open the doors on time.Last tip: For Lets Play Live at the last minute they started splitting the lines between people with bags and people without. People with bags had to have their purses/backpacks/etc inspected, so the line was slower plus a lot of people that didnt have bags skipped right past us. We were early enough that it didnt matter much, but at least 30 people behind us skipped us this way. For Game Grumps they didnt bother inspecting bags, though.
Amazing venue, loved the lights and effects for the show I went to. Staff is very nice as well!
Great space to see panels for Comic Con, I haven’t attended a music event, but I can see how it would be a great experience.
Use to work here now I know the in and out of production and distribution
Stage is too low, if not for the balcony the view is quite limited
Great Pro Wrestling Venue
My favorite place to see a concert in NYC. This building is actually an old Masonic Temple that belonged to The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. What a great conversion. The place really is still a beautiful piece of architecture and the acoustics are really good because of it. Its not nearly as dignified as it once was but this place beats the hell out of The Garden for a show. More intimate but still a great size for a killer concert!
The show was sold out and the staff opened the doors 10 minutes before the first band went on stage. The line was wrapped around the block so at least half the people missed the first act or 2. The bands were amazing, but the venue needs to upon doors earlier for such a big show. Got there at least and hour or so before doors open.
Saw ecw wrestling there the whole place was and is amazing
Love watching pro wrestling here. You can get stuck with a seat with a bad view if you dont know what seats to get, but the atmosphere is great. Try to get seats in the balcony.
If youre delivering here put 316 W 35th in your GPS. The loading dock is basically directly in back of the Manhattan Center on 35th. Arrive around 5:30-6:00 am and the parking people will move barriers in front of the building so you can park. Word of warning: The street is narrow and traffic is always an issue so be prepared.
Awesome venue. Such a great show and the layout is great with two bars
I love how 311 played here, and their address starts with 311. Great location!
Their ticket receiving service is horrible. Their security guards treat you like garbage even if you paid the most expensive ticket. Inside, the people who are very short like me, do not have a good concert experience.
Beautiful NYC venue! Skip the 1st balcony, go for the 2nd. Way better sight lines.
This place is so beautiful! The sound is great, the view is excellent regardless of where you are and the ceiling is amazing. It is the perfect place for metal or classic music. Its location is great, right in Manhattan, not far from the bus station.
Cant re-enter if you smoke.. super flat. Heard to see bands especially if you are short.. Id go again. But I will get mezzanine seats
A nice venu area where concerts can be held. Standing room on the ground floor and theater seats on the balcony.
Its the place to be for the right events.
Beautiful place I go there for church on Sundays its called Hillsong church... Anybody regardless of Creed can come its a non denominatión Christian Church... Really relatable to all people
Venue itself was good. Good sound, good environment for a concert, plenty of access to bars and the entrance. Major complaint though is with getting in contact with the venue before any shows for questions. Sent on a round and round series of phone calls with automated systems. Impossible to get anyone real on the phone for even the simplest question.
Good security. It can get very crowded on sundays for church and lines very long but they go fast.
