First the bad news. Good luck finding the place. No signs on building indicating it is the George St. Playhouse. When I suggested better signage I was told it is the PAC. Then why do the tickets say George St. Playhouse? And why is the theater called George St. Playhouse? The actual theaters inside arent even called George St Theater. And why is there nothing on the building indicating it is the PAC. Floor mats say it when you look down walking in. And, there is no sign or Marquis indicating what is currently playing. And on line there are two addresses, 9 Livingston Ave. and 11 Livingston Ave. Go figure. Not a very nice response from desk staff. Frustrating. The good news is that the production of Midwives was wonderful. Great writing, great sets, lighting and sound. The theater itself is beautiful, lots of leg room and comfortable seats. Small and intimate theater. If youre going to the George St. Theater, it is right next to the States Theater. Wish I knew that.
The new theatre is beautiful & I dont think there is a bad seat in the house. We sat in row A center, which was perfect because we even had extra leg room. The lighting is great as well as the sound. Looking forward to many more shows at the new performing arts building in New Brunswick.
We visit this payhouse twice a year. It is a great place for small group performances. Enough parking and easy access from us 1 highway.
This years production is outstanding. The Trial of Donna Cain was truly enjoyable and the cast was designed to make you think and show how great local theater can be. Well worth the price. Having bus service for senior communities a true gift!
The new theater is so much more comfortable.
Its alright for performances which will attract small crowdTheyve a front entrance for audience, and back entrance for artistsAudience sit in the first floor, and the lights and sounds is operated from the second floorAudience seating is not flat, which is a good thingThe green/changing rooms are nice and bigTheyve a cafeteria alsoBackdoor entrance is small so make sure your props fit throughHVAC was a problem when I was thereOverall its a good place for performances with less property and audience
Cozy temporary home of the George Street Playhouse. Easy to get to on Rutgers Cook Campus. Excellent, high quality theater experience. I highly recommend it.
Very intimate setting, one level seating arrangement.Convenient parking on site.
The new temporary location is much smaller than the old downtown building-ply 114 seats across and only slightly pitched. Parking is limited so if it is a sellout and you arrive only a few minutes early they are parking around the entrance circle!Put the performances are Broadway quality- we enjoyed recent “Act of God”.
Been a subscriber since we moved back into the area. Always look firward to a great show with great scenery.
Nice little play house. Easy access from Rt 1 and plenty of parking. To bad they are moving into town.
Amazing playhouse. I love their summer program for kids and they have great shows. Their theatre is very well maintained and the staff there are such great people. I definitely recommend this playhouse for everything.
Performance was so well done, it is the equal of anything we have seen on Broadway
GSP is currently in a lovely, very functional interim location! Offering great variety in programming, GSP is a fantastic option to see quality performances right in New Brunswick. Though a touch removed from the usual downtown area, it is an easy to find the location, as well as free on-site parking! The Box Office staff are polite and wonderfully helpful! Go support NJ Theatre!
Great performance and wonderful venue. Although it is only temporary, the theater works great. We had not seen I Love You Youre Perfect Now Change since the 1990s off-Broadway. This update, directed by David Saint, showases the talented actors who execute the humor and emoyions that evolve in our romantic relationships.
Great collaboration between playright and director..and actors...must see...The Trial of Donna Caine
I have taken acting classes here and these people are amazing and professional.
Some seats hard to see! Not on a slant-last year productions were mediocre -hope this year is better
This was an AMAZING rendition of Nina Simones life!!!
Small playhouse, where your up close to the actors. They have great plays and occasionally big name stars. Very moderately priced
Saw an excellent play. Recommend highly.
Great theater in New Brunswick, n.j. Many shows Bway quality in a smaller setting. Good view from any seat. Many top notch productions. Some of which have transferred to Broadway.
George Street Playhouse has unbeatable programming! Great value subscriptions and individual tickets as well.
Nice venue, looks well maintained. Small size makes for a more intimate event
Good place for staging plays and other cultural events
Small and cozy. I have been there once only so I dont think I am the right person to comment about it.
Very nice small-town theatre hosting some great shows at reasonable prices.
Great productions, easy to purchase tickets online, almost all seats superb view. Only issue is not as handicap accessible as would be ideal.
Great shows - weve been going for many years
Great temporary space.
Broadway quality programs and performances conveniently located, at a fraction of the cost.
The trial of Donna Cain was magnificence
Love it I preformed here when I was in 3rd or 4th grade now I am in 7th
Great plays, small intimate theatre, not a bad seat in the house. Been going there for over 20 years
