What a great place! Worth the drive from wherever you are. The food is surprisingly good. The fries are some of the best Ive ever had anywhere! Cozy up with the family on a cool night in the back of an SUV, the bed of a truck or in chairs behind you car. My kids loved it!
As of todays experience its a 3 star because so much of its facility is under covid restrictions. I enjoyed the movie. Everything is well organized n clean. I will be back and hopefully its running at 100 percent. It been a while since I was in a drive in . My grandson was totally in awe. Thanks.
Love going to the drive-in with my family and friends. Great setup during COVID times and pre-pandemic. Love the variety at the snack bar and the playground area for the kiddos. Also love that I can take my fur baby to the movies with me. This theater is great for playing new films and also themed nights with older movies. My first time here was for a Grease/Dirty Dancing double feature. By far the best movie experience Ive ever had!
First time going! It was amazing. What better way to social distance then to see a movie in your own vehicle! I am definitely going back. The concession stand is there if your willing to go in and order food but you can also just take stuff with you so that you dont have to be around crowds. Parking is limited for social distancing protocols which makes it kinda better because you dont have someone directly next to you. Cant wait to go back. (Might be this weekend, they are playing the original Halloween ON HALLOWEEN!)UPDATE. went back again (11-7) and still had a great time! The keep the place nice and clean and for someone like myself who doesnt want to chance being out more than I am already for work, this is a great option for me. Had a great time with my daughter getting to spend time out of the house. Well be back for sure.
Stars and Stripes is our families absolute favorite place to get together with friends to see a movie. We have hosted many birthday parties and fellowship nights for our volleyball team here. Even on summer evenings where the heat scorches, the temperature is comfortable when the sun sets. I love that we can bring our own food in but the snack bar is excellent and I always order corn fritters when I go. Highly recommend bringing your family or your large group here. It’s fun at a great value even if you only stay for the first feature. Be sure to bring a chair to sit outside of your car and the experience is definitely better with an external speaker.
What a fun place! I brought the family out here during COVID and we had a great time. It was so nice to enjoy an evening together and feel the nostalgia of a drive in theater. Where else can you play catch with your kids and watch the airplanes land and take off while you wait for the main attraction?!? If youre looking for a fun night to spend with youre family, I highly recommend Stars & Stripes. #SBW2020
The experience was great, however they closed the concession stand by 830pm and told us it closed at 10pm. It may have been because its Monday and a low turnout, but as customers we would like to have been informed! It was cool outside and my nephew walked all the way over to the concession stand to find it closed! Other than that, finding our spot and radio station was easy and fun! Great social distancing family entertainment!
My family and I love this place. We have been going for years, and all our kids from the ages of 23-5 have fun. They have a playground for our little one and great movies for our older kids. They also have great funnel cake. This is overall a great family place.
A great venue to go watch a movie, five stars because they seem pretty attentive to making sure the individual viewers experience is good.Layout is well thought out, giving everyone a great view. And the radio sound system is clear and crisp. Will go again.
This is the 1st time Ive been to this drive in and I loved it. Im so happy a theater was actually open during this time, they were extremely safe, sanitary and very efficient. They were also very quick at getting the line through as quickly as they could. They had throw back movies but it was great and fun. It was raining and still had an awesome time. I will make sure to let everyone I know how cool of an experience we had. Thanks Stars and Stripes
Love this drive in! Staff is always so friendly, good food at the concession stand, and grounds are well kept. Well ran and they dont put up with people who disturb other patrons so everyone can enjoy their movie experience.
Great family fun! Friendly people, good movies, good prices. I would recommend to anyone!!
We love it here, pets are welcome, outside food is discouraged, but you can bring it. Highly recommended! They do have consessions, tons to choose from. You will not be disappointed, go!
Love it! So much better than going into a movie theater, safer during the corona, and much more comfy as u can stay in ur car, or bring seats, or even an air mattress! Plus they have funnel cake and burgers and milkshakes among the normal popcorn and hot dogs and nachos menu one normally finds at a theater.
Had a great time. Katie had exceptional customer service, they had better be paying her well!
Been here twice and it was a great experience. The price is good for the fact that you get two movies. Decent food. The sound depends on what you have in your car. It’s a great way to enjoy a movie. Come early if you want to park close to the screen. My own issue has nothing to do with the drive in itself, but the rude people who block your view. But I don’t come here for the cinema experience but for a good time.
Always a blast!!!Facilities are clean and well maintained!Food is decent. When you go into the building for anything masks are currently required and they will supply you with a disposable if you dont have one.Playground is really nice but currently closed.
Tried to get information on dates for a company event and its like they didnt even try to give me any information other than pricing. I also tried to see if this included one or two movies since some people dont get off of work until 6 and this place is in New Braunfels. Trying to figure out a date was a nightmare since I would have to double email to get a response and a few emails later is when they finally decided to give me what dates they had available. I decided that it was best to go with another location as this place didnt seem too interested in hosting us.
This was the first time I had been to a drive in movie theater. It was a really cool experience. The lots were large and segregated for covid, which was nice because the cars werent cramped into the parking lot. The movie screens were huge too. I really like the indoor diner and the vintage nostalgia you get when you walk in. I will be back again hopefully soon when it isnt raining.
This was my first time to ever visit a drive in and boy was I blown away by the experience. We watched Ghostbusters and it was a great time. This drive-in is such a relaxing visit, as you get there and you can just set up your chairs and have your own space. No fighting for the armrest with a stranger like at a normal theater. This drive in is also right beside a small airport so you get to see small planes flying over head before the show. I will 100% be back!
Love, love, love. Thank you for providing a really affordable awesome experience for our family. Staff were extremely friendly, purchasing tickets was super easy, and the night watching movies after a gorgeous sunset was perfect!
Great place most of the time. If theres a private event happening, avoid it at all costs. Seriously, I felt robbed. Been 3 times, and twice it was great. This last time was a nightmare. If youre going to be inundated with people, maybe make that more clear. Movie started at 7:30, got there at 7 to find a place and get food. Prepaid for a ticket, didnt even make it to the ticket booth until 7:40. Private event folks had a line wrapped around the cafe building to get food. I gave up on popcorn or food after missing 30 mins of my movie, and it wasnt even a double feature. Because the entrance line was so long, there were still cars and trucks rolling into the screening area with their lights on. Ill be seriously reconsidering going back.
My family and I’ve been here a few times and have always had a great time. Last night we had the misfortune of parking next to one of those “the rules don’t apply to me” type. They had left their loud engine running thus ruining the movie for everyone around them. I complained to one of the staff members and minutes later the employee talked to them and their engine was silenced! The snacks are reasonably priced and the prep time was short. The parking lot is always spotless and the restrooms are clean.I would highly recommend Stars and Stripes for a family night out!
It was a great experience for our grandkids first time at a drive in. They had so much fun and us grown ups did too. Its been so many years since weve been to one. We really have missed it. Everything was great!!
What a great experience! Clean bathrooms and handy concessions. Plenty of spacing between cars and the sound is great. The only thing I could wish for is to be able to reserve a specific spot. Weve enjoyed several movies this summer and will continue to come back!
This drive-in theater was able to move customers in and out of the lot very quickly, considering the hundreds of cars involved. The staff was very friendly and the facilities were well-maintained. We had an enjoyable Movie experience.
So much better than rooftop cinema at fiesta TX. Stars and Stripes had a concessions stands. They have one car space distance between cars to ensure people can sit outside of the vehicle. Much more organized. Between both, Ive stopped going to rooftop cinema. Stars and Stripes is leaps and bounds ahead.
Relaxing and fun, great family fun! The food at the diner is good. Remember to bring a radio so you dont run the battery on your vehicle down.
It honestly saddens me to be posting such a mediocre review for this place because we love it so much but this experience def fell short. You managed alot of things really well but there were some definite areas which need help. The line to enter was all the way out to entrance. Once finally in, you have to maneuver the lanes to find an open red dot spot because of social distancing. If this was all you had to worry about because you brought your own food then arriving 30- 40 min ahead is plenty however if you want concessions you need to plan to arrive as soon as they open at 630. At 730 my daughter in law and I got in line and by the time our food was finally in hand and we walked back to the truck the movie was 27 min underway. One full our for the concession experience! We thought we were prepared but we clearly were not and we were clearly not the only ones as the line was still going and the concession area was packed at 825pm.Nothing that was supposed to be hot was. Some of it was outright cold. This is most likely due to the organization of how things are being packaged and delivered. I saw hot food boxed and ready but not delivered for up to 20 min because accompanied items or shakes were behind. The food prep/food runner girl was CLEARLY overwhelmed and to make matters worse, the buzzers failed several times causing her to have to yell out to the crowd for people with same first names. Im sure this process worked fine when there were two movies and the crowds were thinner but something is off now. Finally, and Im not sure you can control this but it seems that the number of early departers have increased, headlights and all. We had 11 cars in front of us that left early. Additionally several of the cars up front kept messing with their lights causing distortion in the screen. We were on screen 2. If everything else had gone smoothly and this was the only issue you probably would have still gotten a 5 star. But after waiting, missing a good chunk of the beginning, and eating cold food, this just added to the frustration. Were all navigating new territory however in order to keep people coming in you definitely need to tweak some things or you will rapidly lose customers.
Great place to watch movies with a date or with family. Must get their fries . The only downside is that the screen is not as bright, but that should be expected from an outdoor screen. Highly recommend
Stars & Stripes has been a great way for us to get out of the house during the quarantine. They’ve made it easy to maintain social distancing throughout the entire process.I’ll also add that the food here is pretty good and very affordable. We always load up on popcorn to complete the movie experience.
BEST DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATRE in the area!!! I love the social distancing parking that allow us to sit outside our vehicles without interfering with others, the HUGE screens, and the FUN EXPERIENCE I always have with my family when I visit!
A reprieve where simple enjoyment reigns. Whiner complainants posting here need to stay home!! All was great including staff attributes and hygiene of facilities. Lots of hand cleaning of the touchy-feely knobs, railings and the like. We bought sweets from 2 tarts to send the night over the top.
Crowded on a Saturday, long line before the movie. Kind of a small screen unless youre parked within the first four rows. Decent concesions at fair prices.
Just a cool thing to go and do. Takes me back to my youth when we did this every weekend. Watched Tenet. Terrible movie, gotta tell it straight. But the theater itself was awesome, will be back for a better movie next time!
Great family experience. 2 recommendations if you go. Buy a little battery powered radio to listen to the movie audio. It will keep you from having to worry about the car battery dying. 2nd, bring snacks. The concession lines are a bit long because of appropriate covid precautions.
5 STARS, AUTOMATICALLY. I LOVE IT HERE. YOU WILL LOVE IT HERE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PORTABLE RADIO AND MONEY OF COURSE. (FYI: THIS REVIEW IS LATE BECAUSE I WENT HERE 2 YEARS AGO.)
First and foremost, I will say that the movie was great but the line to get in did exceed 20 minutes or so. The rating mainly pertains to the food experience that I had.I waited in line for over an hour, and I ordered a chicken strip meal, which was nearly $9, and I received 3 shrimp sized strips that looked like a kids meal for my two year old. The fries were cold, as well. I brought this to the attention of the staff and I was told “Due to Covid, and because you’ve already touched it, we cannot do anything. You can buy another strip.” They were also very confused as to what the problem was, although I felt that it was clear. I have worked in the food industry prior, and there is most certainly something that could have been done. For example, when a customer is questioning or discussing the quality of food, ideally it should be replaced. I am by no means wanting free food, but after waiting in a lengthy line and paying $9, I expected more than 3 “chicken nuggets.” In the future, I hope that these associates can be properly trained on customer service and conflict resolution.
This is one of me and my daughters favorite places! Cheap prices and we love to see our fave classics, including Jurassic Park and Jaws in a traditional drive in setting. They have a great lil retro diner that serves concessions. During covid this has been a way for us to get out of the house and have fun from the safety of our own car. I would give it 10 stars if I could! Absolutely love it..
Love Stars and Stripes, especially during the pandemic. Having 2 diseases that make me especially vulnerable to a negative outcome to Covid & having a child I’m fiercely protective of I am glad buy tickets online, print them out, and hold them up to our window for the cashier to scan without any contact whatsoever. We enjoyed going before the pandemic too. Their funnel cakes are awesome! They remind me of living in Southern California as a kid and getting funnel cakes at Disneyland (and walking out invisible dogs). Staff is friendly too! I highly recommend going not just for the nostalgia, but also for a fun family outing.
I have given this place multiple chances. Definitely take your own food!!! Park close bc the screens are blurry if you are towards the back. And currently they are playing movies that are 30 years old. I get it, but you never had to shut down and yall did!!!! Its unfathomable that when only drive ins could be open, this one shut down. Two stars bc the owners son is insanely nice!!!!
Great place to currently catch an old movie. Pricing was ok. Some people dont get that you are supposed to turn off headlights but no fault of this business. I believe they have it posted on site as well as online. All together a great family friendly place.
I had so much fun! The food is also very delicious! I just wish more movie theaters did closed captions I think it would have really helped when it was hard to hear the dialog over the background music.
Fantastic customer service experience, movie showings, dining selections, and more. 10/10 experience all around and I would not hesitate to come back.
We absolutely love this place. They always have great movies and its always a great experience. Weve become regulars.
Great place to watch a movie.. My first time and I will definately be back.. Get there early to get a good spot and buy your tickets ahead of time.
Well run facilty, affordable food and admission. Fun date night or family night
I really, really wanted to love this place. We went during Spring Break (March 15 and we went in the evening (it was pretty cold this particular night). We arrived pretty early and decided to get some food. The wait in line wasnt bad at all. I ordered some wings. THE WINGS WERENT EVEN COOKED ALL THE WAY!! I immediately spit them out. When it came time to watch the movie....YOU CAN BARELY HEAR THE MOVIE! So my kids and I set up our chairs in the cold and watched it but we still could barely hear the movie! Such a disappointment my kids lost interest after 20 mins. Basically a waste of time and money. Wish our experience was better.
Its a great drive in experience. If you go on a weekend, it is pretty packed. They try to social distance, but its inevitable. Popcorn and snacks are similar price as a regular movie theater. They allow you to bring outside food and drinks though. Make sure you have your military ID or first responder ID to get a discount. It was only 50 cents per person and they will make you pay it back if you buy it online without an ID. Other than that, it was a good experience.
This has been great for getting out of the house while maintaining good social distancing practices. My wife and I have gone here on many date nights throughout the pandemic, eventhough its about 50 minutes away. Its also awesome that vehicles are required to park in every other spot, less of a hassle leaving at the end of the night.
Great, great, and great! Employees made sure to do a walk around for anyone not following the rules of the establishment. The restaurant followed the covid guidelines and I had the best experience possible!
This drive-in is the best Ive been to (not like theres so many out there lol) the restroom and food area are very clean There is a good selection of food, snack n sweets to choose from.
Great place to visit and take the family! Very clean facilities and everyone is very respectful of each other
Used to love coming here...but wont be back until they continue food service for a decent amountof time.... they stop serving anything but candy at 830pm (an hour after the movie starts and after the crazy line around the building gets down to reasonable).... no longer worth it when you plan to take kids and feed them there (you know, support local?) ... and then you get to the counter and the only food like item is a pickle. Then you talk to the manager and their response consists of a blank stare. No mention in their website either.
Love the 50s look and feel. This is the Drive-In that I grew up with. Kids and adults are going to have a blast. Concessions are great too. Great job!
Loved coming here! Only thing is figuring out the best sound situation for your car since you have to tune into an FM station...but thats to be expected. Love this place!
The only issues Ive ever had here are because of other patrons, the staff themselves have always been great. Just watch out for idiots who dont know how to leave a space between cars.
Was looking for a classic drive in around Austin that didnt have a tiny screen, this place is legit. Being Texas, youll have to deal with people driving around with headlights on, cars idling with AC on, and other misc annoyances while watching your flick. The diner was great. Get there early if you want the best spots, and bring water, its a concrete desert.
Omg i love this place! Perfect for date night or even family get together night.
Easy purchasing tickets online. Great movie selections. Team distanced cars and set-up concessions for quick and easy processing. Overall great family fun, during this tough time! Well definitely be back!
It was great! I would bring a battery powered radio next time to avoid running car battery. Jump starts are provided free though.
Place was great. Food is good they have a pretty decent burger and the milkshake was good. Make sure you get in early for your spot and park somewhere that does not have a bigger car in front of you or it may be difficult to see screen. I had a great time and will go back again.
Fast food that tastes good, security the whole time, made sure we are spaced apart and very clean. Movie quality was just as I remember back in the day if not better. Make sure to bring radio because they dont want your car engine on and be better than killing your car battery. But they do have support if that is the case for your car.
There arent many drive in theaters around and not many to compare, and Im a Santikos kind of girl, but this is the best drive in theater! The experience has always been great - no light pollution, great screen set up, great car arrangement, easy to purchase tickets, easy to get to, and convenient to visit the concessions with great quality food even! Their movie options and back to back pair ups are very well planned and their prices are excellent! I havent been since Covid but their strategy now from reading their email updates is well organized. Kudos to this family owned drive in!
It was a great way to get rid of cabin fever! Everyone was also social distancing by every vehicle being spaced out. Also, make sure you bring a little radio to be able to tune into the movie. They use radio stations so you can hear the movie. Dont leave your car idling because we had to help a few people restart their vehicles. Other than that great place, friendly staff and great new experience! Perfect for date or family night!
Takes you back to the Good Ol Days! Currently playing movies from way back. Great way to spend an evening out with the family. Concessions available before and during the movie or you can always bring your own. Enjoyed going to the drive in before and still.
Best movie value around. Take some lawn chairs for your SUV or pickup. You can even take your own food, although the snack bar has great food: burgers, hot dogs, etc. Weve made it a habit to take the family as much as possible depending on the movie choices. But honestly, it is great to be able to share the experience. Highly recommend. Just understand how to disable your auto light function so that your headlights dont come on each time you open your doors!
Can go and take my doggie with us and just enjoy ourselves since we are not ready to do much outings especially with everything going on.
Nice place to take the family to see a movie. They have a good selection of food and drinks. Staff is very nice. Will definitely be back
This is my favorite place to go and relax.Always a great experience. Staff is super friendly. I always recommend stars and stripes to everyone I know
This theatre is lots of fun. The atmosphere is relaxing and safe. It feels like you were transported back in time to the 1980s. As if youre reliving a moment in the past. When people flocked together to be entertained and enjoyed each others company.
Excellent service! One of the best french fries ever!
Just what the doctor ordered! I love, love love this place and it has been a great way to get out of the house and still be safe at the same time in the last months. My son and his wife often bring me along on their visits too, because they know how much I love it.
My family and I love this place! We try to go every other week or more, lol. Great customer service! Very happy with the way they do the social distancing between cars, theres at least 10 feet or a little more between cars. Stars and Stripes is a lot better than our one time experience at the drive-in theater that Fiesta Tx has. Never again! They had the cars parked less than 6 feet apart. I could literally reach my hand out the car door window and touch the car next to me. My family and I give Stars and Stripes Drive-In theater a five star rating! Keep up the great work! Well definitely be back again and again!
Ive never been to a Drive-In before, but this place gave me a great first experience. The staff was helpful and helped us to find a spot. Theyve taken precautionary measures due to Covid-19, and its very clean here. They show great movies too .
This place is great - not far from I35, no light pollution. The concessions are affordable (gasp!), and the bathrooms are actually clean. A little disappointed the concessions closed so early, but it was a single feature so I guess I cant complain too much.
One of my favorite places to go. Reasonable prices. Before covid the food prices and food was good. Ready for them to reopen diner! Customer service has always been good since Ive been going.
Wonderful place to watch a movie very relaxing. Make sure to come prepared if you have more than 2 people (chairs, blankets, pillow ect..) as the people in a backseats may not see the screen.
Great snack bar, well paved, good audio and video. They allow bringing in your own food and pets are fine as long as they stay on leash. I love the drive in!
A great way to still get out and see a movie whole social distancing. The screens were bright and easy to see from our car. Highly recommend.
Who doesnt love drive in theaters! This place is amazing. Great set up. Love the eatery and playscape. Awesome movie choices. Fun for everyone.
This drive in is just like the ones I went to when I was younger, but better! Playground, large restaurant /concession stand, and tonight they had free face painting for the kids. You are allowed to sit outside of your vehicle if you would like and you can bring food and drinks in with you as well! You get TWO first run movies for only 8 bucks for adults and 5 bucks for children starting at age 4 and discounts for first responders ( I believe there is a veterans/military discount as well) you cant beat it!
FANTASTIC. Had a great time. Took my grandsons and ate a variety of food at the conservation stand. Every thing clean and good food, friendly staff. Well go again.
Great family place. Cute diner, clean restrooms, Clean property and good customer service.
Although there was a really bad storm and the power went out, they managed to restore everything and keep the show going. A few people had car issues but were promptly helped. I love this place due to the great environment and classic feel. Ill definitely keep it as an ongoing weekend hangout spot.
Great place we had a good time and the food wasnt bad either!
Great place to watch a movie. Good food great sound quality and beautiful stars. The night sky was perfect.
Such a great date night idea. Super cute and handling social distancing like a boss.
Our first experience was a birthday party with 6 boys at the age of 11. Showing up early was a fun tailgate feel. We arrived 2 hours before on opening night of Lion King, found a great spot up front, played on the playground, ate our pizza, and totally took our new dog. It was a good old fashioned experience that gave our crew hangout time + a fun movie.
We have been going here for years. Its our favorite date night and family time destination. The staff are always the sweetest.
Brings back memories. I miss our drive- ins in San Antonio
I love going here to watch movies! I have gone several times with friends and alone because I love it so much. There are plenty of food options and the food is delicious. Such a great value and good time.
