The museum was very clean and had some cool things to see. My partner and I are very health-conscious with the pandemic and missed out on quite a few of the exhibits. For instance, theres an exhibit that shows you the difference in Johnnys voice over each decade. Each stop was a different set of headphones. We just didnt feel comfortable using them.
A Beautiful, Although Small Sample, Collection Of The Man In Black. What The Museum Lacks In The True Personal Story Of Mr. Cash And His Life, It Completely Makes Up For In The Sheer Sense Of The Vast Scope Of Mr. Cashs Body Of Incredible Work. His Amazing Influence On Various Artists Spanning Multiple Musical Genres Can Still Be Heard And Experienced To This Day. A Definite Stop On Your Trip To Nashville. Hopefully, Ill Have Time To Stop By The Adjoining Restaurant On My Next Visit. Great Job To All The Wonderful Staff!(OH, OH!! Do Not Forget The Patsy Cline Museum Located Upstairs In The Same Building As The Johnny Cash Museum. Separate Purchase!)
WOW. This place wasnt here last time I visited Nashville. Im a big fan of Johnny, and I had no expectations of the museum. It was just fantastic. The exhibits are engaging and informative. The place was immaculately clean. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.I wont give away any of the surprises. But rest assured that there are some very significant pieces of history here.Highly recommended if youre in Nashville! Dont miss it!
I went to the Johnny Cash Museum on Oct. 27, 2020. I came to Nashville for a visit from Chicago. The museum is great and it gave you a lot of details about his life. It had great exhibits and pictures of himself and June. Inside they showed a film about the movies he played in and of course they play his music all day everyday. They have nice souvenirs you can purchase as well. Nice place to visit if youre a Johnny Cash fan.
As a younger person (25) who grew up listening to Johnny Cash, this Museum is a great place to go back in time and experience Johns life step by step. There are many great artifacts here, and a great chronicle of his life. Even if you think you know all there is to know about John, you will learn something here that you never knew before. There are larger displays for specific big moments and stories related to John. I was honestly surprised by how popular and busy this museum was, even with a younger group, and during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is a nice gift shop, and the coffee cafe seemed busy the whole time we were there. The only thing I would change is to combine the Patsy Cline museum upstairs with your ticket for the Cash museum. After paying ~$20 each for John, it is hard to shell out more money for Patsy, on top of gift shop purchases. Still worth it for any lover of Johnnny Cashs music.
Have been here several times with out of town guests. Having read the history timeline portion of the museum multiple times, this time I sat and enjoyed the video of his acting career. My absolute favorite part of the museum is Johnnys reciting of Ragged Old Flag. Right now is the time to go... although a mask is required, there were only a few people there which made it easy to go through and read without feeling rushed and seating was available at all video viewings.
Its a great place to be. I loved Johnny Cash as child and still do as an adult. I love all his song and the history of his life and family. A very good place to spend your and money.
Fantastic experience in a great museum. Honestly liked this much better than the country music hall of fame down the road. The exhibits were detailed, informative, and genuinely interesting. If you’re a country, rock, or just a Johnny Cash fan, this place is a blast!
Awesome museum!!! Tons of Jonny Cash items along with a friendly staff and a nice gift store.
My husband and i have been here several times since moving to Nashville. It is always good and the atmosphere great! Love the live music!
I dont consider myself a huge Johnny Cash fan, but I do like some of his music. So while in Nashville I popped in to check it out. It is a great place. Really well done, interesting and informative. I learned a lot and have a whole new respect for him. They have a pretty good gift shop but are missing out with not having Ring of Fire t-shirts.
A great place that generates a lot of early childhood memories and other youth. A lot of legendary artifacts and the almost tangible presence of Johnny right next to it, I recommend this museum. a must-see in downtown Nashville.
Kind of pricey for the size of the exhibit. Watching a documentary on Cash might be a good idea before going here. In my opinion, the exhibit assumes you already have some knowledge of his history. It might be a better value if you know the significance of the items looking at.
So many great memories. Photo ops! A complete documentary too his life. Its beautiful and has all his music playing everywhere. of course theres a gift shop and a food Cafe and its all right in the heart of downtown Nashville Tennessee. the streets outside are alive with music and musicians walking around you could run into anybody.
This is worth paying for! They had so much memorabilia as well as a terrific audio and video experience! It was a well laid out self paced tour. We spent about an hour and a half walking through it.
Im not a big Johnny Cash fan, but I know his music. Youll learn more about his life here, and I found it interesting. You can easily spend an hour here. Its not big, but theres plenty to read.
This is a thorough collection of memorabilia and information about The Man In Black who became a music legend and top-selling recording artist. If youre visiting Nashville its a must-see destination even if you dont know much about Johnny Cash going in or if you think you know everything. The museum is located right in the heart of the strip on Third Avenue South. There are no tour guides, but a separate viewing room lets people watch on a projection screen an abundance of biographical footage of Cash, as well as many of his appearances singing live on stage throughout his career. The souvenir room in the museum entrance has a large variety of take home merchandise. For an extra twenty dollars, visitors can go upstairs to see the Patsy Cline exhibit.*Note: photos contributed and posted with this review have been removed, either by GM, a proprietor or someone on their behalf, a bot or a hacker. We really enjoyed our time here and learning more about JRC life. We had no idea about many of the items the museum showcases, like his USAF service. Truly if you are in BNA, you must make time to visit. Then, head next door for a soul feeding meal.
Great museum focusing on the life and works of Johnny Cash. Covers everything from his childhood to just before his death. Total my only complaint is that the space is very small and they dont regulate the number of people in it very well making it extremely difficult to see some of the exhibits.
A worthwhile museum even if you aren’t a country music fan. Johnny Cash is a true artist and worked with so many other musicians. They packed a lot I to the area they had. We spent about 1.5 here.
Words cant even describe how cool that place is loved every minute being there. I encourage anyone that likes johnny cash should visit this place its like going back in time.
The entrance was $20 for seniors. I thought it was reasonable for the size of the place and how completely they cover Cashs life. There were videos, gold records, his outfits and jewelry, awards, and much more.
Staff was not warm and friendly, but the museum was awesome. Prices were high, but everything is in the tourist areas. Out of all of the museums we visited, this is the only one that staff was not southern charming. Otherwise, I would give 5 stars
Only went to the patsy cline museum.loved it so many neat costumes, letters she wrote, video.
Absolutely wonderful. We learned so much. The man was an incredible person. I bought his autobiography he wrote himself. I already started reading it. The man was a very humble person.
With not much open currently in Nashville on our first visit we decided to take a look at the Johnny Cash museum. We were not disappointed at all! It was awesome to see all the different stages of his career through the years. I was fortunate enough to get to see him when he was touring with the Highwaymen (which was an amazing concert)! I thought I knew a lot about him before, but learned a lot more after visiting!
Good museum! if you love old country music and especially Johnny Cash you’ll enjoy it! You walk through the years of his life and see a lot of Memorabilia from his career. It is a little bit pricer for the museum that size but you’re also in Nashville a tourist city so it’s not that bad. Definitely worth checking out!
An interesting look into the life of Johnny Cash, just thought the $20 to get in was a bit much.
Really disappointed for the price of admission. We paid the same amount to see Andrew Jacksons Hermitage and it included the mansion, grounds and museum tour. This museum was small, and while it had some cool memorabilia, it just seemed overpriced. It would be more reasonable if they charged $10-15 instead.
The museum was AWRSOME!!! Everything I expected and more
Amazing beautifully maintained museum a wonderful tribute to Johnny and June it has been a dream of mine to see it and it exceeded my expectations bring a mask for the inside and out side of the museum the strip is mask mandatory
We spent about 1 and a half hours here. As huge Cash fans, we learned more about him and loved seeing relics of his history. Theres something special about seeing lyrics written in his own hand.
Great museum. If you love Johnny you have to visit. So much memorabilia.
Fun museum if youre a fan of the Man in Black. Its very cramped to start but opens up. Be sure to take your time and look at everything. Once you leave, you can go back in without paying for another ticket. I didnt try the cage next door because I already ate before I arrived. Also parking is expensive since the museum doesnt offer any. Cheapest parking I found in the area was $10.
Steep price for a museum of this size. All of the interactive functionality of the exhibits shut down due to the pandemic hoax. No price reduction though! A millennial completely unengaged male ticket salesperson who seemed bothered to have to interrupt his conversation with another employee to have to sell me a ticket. The docent at the entrance was very friendly and informative. She obviously cares about making sure customers enjoy the experience. Spent about an hour inside. Would have stayed longer if the shut down interactive features were working. The exhibits are very well put together. Didnt buy anything in the gift shop. The selections are tacky. Not befitting the great man that was Cash.
Super fun, and well worth it. I highly recommend, dont be in a hurry, just enjoy the journey, and appreciate the poetry that is his life.
A little on the pricey side for what you get (really only 4-5 small areas combined into the gift shop) but worth seeing once if youre a fan of Johnny Cash. From his first dollar he received as a tip to the authentic handwritten lyrics to hit songs such as Walk the Line and Folsom Prison Blues, the man definitely kept a tight record of his life and happenings.
Awesome place. Great stopping here as I passed through Nashville
Most touristy things Ive ever done, but I was passing through Nashville so why not. There were some neat displays and lots of cool Cash memorabilia. Expensive but worth it for a Cash fanatic, probably not worth it for a casual fan. I wish they were a little more serious about enforcing social distancing, I wouldnt have minded a wait to get in if it meant fewer people in the enclosed space.
Dont miss this when in Nashville ! This museum is johnny cash from his childhood until his death. Well worth the price of admission
Awesome place with very friendly staff! They bring the legend to life. I love the video and reading of That Ragged Old Flag
In my opinion $25.00 per person to walk through is expensive but its interesting. love Johnny Cash music. Cool gift shop
Very nicely put together museum. Nice artifacts and pictures. I recommend.
Very well put together exhibits about Johnny Cashs life and music career. Love the interactive exhibits, especially the Cash Covered one where you could here his songs covered by different musical artists. Will definitely come here again when in Nashville
Anything you need to know about J Cash is in this Museum. Ive always wanted to meet John and wish I did this was the closest thing I can get to it. It was so satisfying to visit here next time I go to Nashville I’m going to Country Music Hall of Fame! Highly recommend this awesome museum!!
Absolutely Amazing!!! You must go if you are a fan of Johnny Cash or country music or any music or if you are a fan of anything at all. A definite must see, period.
What an amazing experience whioe you visit downtown Nashville! Be sure to check it out and learn all you can about the Man in Black
This museum has a few interesting pieces and memorabilia. They do a pretty good job of displaying everything and giving a good view of it all. The museum itself is fairly small and, in all, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot there. It may be nice just to see the specific pieces they have that others don’t.
A little expensive but worth the knowledge if you love J. Cash. Amazing spot to see once.
Great time Learning about the man, his life and beliefs.
This was a pleasant surprise! Interesting items displayed lots of document to read and headphone for listening to music. We learned a lot of good things about Johnny Cash. He was way ahead of the idea of prison reform. And a great support of American Indian rights totally worth it and the tick was fairly priced
Visiting from out of state and Im a huge Johnny Cash fan. A small space but an excellent overview of his life, history, music, movies, TV shows and more! If you are inspired, you can even pick up sheet music or guitar chord books in the gift shop (along with coffee, t-shirts, fridge magnets, stickers, harmonica +). Patsy Cline museum upstairs. The kitchen is next door, but unfortunately due to Covid was closed on a Tuesday.
We enjoyed our visit to the Johnny Cash museum. It’s a little small, and pretty pricey, but it was a unique experience that highlighted his life and achievements. Something to see when you’re in Nashville.
Great museum. We had a good time and learned some great stuff.
Truly a spiritual experience I could have spent hours there! Excellent museum brought back alot of memories!
Very interesting and cool but not enough of a collection. I can literally go through the museum in about 20 minutes. 30 minutes if I take my time.
Worth it to learn about his incredible life. Lots of history and memorabilia. We spend about an hour here watching films and wandering looking at everything. They have a little gift shop when you are done.
It was awesome, read things I never knew. Loved it.
Will visit again. Hurt is the best cover song ever
The museum was great, and I wish I could give more of a review as anyone should go and enjoy as you will learn alot, but I was angry at the end...I learned was how amazing he was in a spotlight and how great he was as a musician. Then, for 4 minutes at the end of the tour I found out what Johnny Cash was actually passionate about other than his music...He cared for people who made mistakes, who struggled in a system that didnt catered to them. Because of this this; He is the first star to sing to incarcerated people. He did not see this as singing to inmates, but actual human beings. He saw the problems that we see today, and spent the rest of his career advocating for change. This should be his legacy. Not a guitar when I leave the museum.I dont know about the plight of an incarcerated person, I dont know how it is to be demonized and hated by everyone. But, he treated everyone as equals, and this museum only spent 4 minutes of your time explaining that.As I said, the museum was great, but all it was is relics to a man who did much more than just enjoy the riches he got. He fought for reform, and I never saw it in this place, and I was angry...
We toured the Johnny Cash Museum last fall while we spent a week having fun in Nashville. Glad we did. Long live the legend of the Man in Black.
Super cool museum. Lots to see! Its about 20-25 to walk through but it is WELL worth it! Theres a restaurant as well but I didnt eat. Looked good though! Definitely recommend stopping in.
Absolutely amazing how much they were able to fit and keep organzied in the space available here. Arrive early, it gets packed very quickly. We got there when they opened and there wasnt a line, but we werent the only ones there either. Really great, super educational place. Highly recommend.
What an amazing place to remember the life and legacy of Johnny Cash. Even if you are not a fan of Cash its must see. Be sure to visit when you are in Nashville.
Fantastic collection of Johnny Cash memorabilia. Very much worth the price.
Really enjoyed our visit to the Johnny Cash Museum. So many personal items on display. Several small rooms that featured various videos. One room showed clips from TV programs and another had videos of concerts. Appreciated a chance to sit and enjoy the music. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Great food for a named-after-a-celebrity place. There was love music which was fun.It was a lovely place to go after the Johnny Cash museum
Would give 10 stars if possible. Wow, wow and wow. So many artifacts of historical significance. All eras of Johnnys career are covered. Personal items, musical memories, photos, documents, records. On and on. Awesome gift shop and not too terribly overpriced....very reasonable considering they could gouge you. Amazing place!
I almost fell asleep to good l his voice
Very cool place. A wonderful tribute to a music icon. Lots of memorabilia and music. We easily spent two hours looking around and didnt even realize it. Educational too. I really enjoyed the handwritten letters and the focus on the positive side of Cashs life for a change. Good food in the cafe was a bonus :) Worth the visit for sure.
Awesome place!! If you love JC go!!
Very awesome to see the Johnny Cash museum. His story is awesome. Definitely recommend.
Ill be very honest and say that Im not a huge Johnny Cash fan. But I do know enough to know the impact he had on every type of music out there, and the relevance of his musical legacy. This place is pretty small and costs $23 to get in. I guess that is just too expensive for me for what you get.
What an awesome experience. Well worth the time
I enjoyed this place. Seems like the cover charge for the museum could have been a little cheaper though. Otherwise they would have 5 stars.
We were not disappointed. A wealth of history and culture. We loved it.
We were looking forward to visiting the Johnny Cash Museum since we booked our trip to Nashville. Our experience lived up to what we hoped. I particularly enjoyed the section where you could use the audio mixers to take certain songs and isolate either the vocal or guitar tracks. Also the handwritten notes taken from Cash are incredibly well preserved and offer some cool insight behind the man in black. The staff was helpful and nice but could probably do a bit more to control the traffic flow into the small areas. At certain points it became a bit tight in there and if affected the experience a little bit. But other than that we had a great time.
First time in here. Cool spot. I ordered the Asiago cheese bagel with egg cheese and bacon. It was very yummy and the service was great! Thank you!
Lots of info and some interactive exhibits. Great gift shop too!
Very informative if youre a Johnny Cash fan. They have alot of great pieces and videos to give you an inside look into his life. The price was a bit steep for a small museum but worth it!
We are Johnny Cash fans. I did not believe this exhibit was as personal about the life and times of a legend like Johnny. If felt more like the unapproved biography than the real thing. In fairness there are some amazing artifacts: Did you know Johnny Cash was proficient in Morse Code? Or that he was an accomplished radio operator in the Military? There are films, songs and some clothing in this small, crowded museum. I stress small. It is difficult to see a lot of the exhibition because you have to wait or move on. I feel for the entrance fee, the museum could restrict by amount of people per hour, to allow for a more free flowing experience. You and I know that will not happen. So expect crowds and try if you can to learn something you did not already know about Mr. Cash. In particular I was interested in his early life, what ever happened to his children, ex wife and then June Carter? More personal stories and artifacts would have been something of interest.
Great museum. I learned so much and it’s not so big that it’s overwhelming. We read about everything in about 2 hours. There were quite a few interactive exhibits we were very impressed with
I have really enjoyed my time at The Johnny Cash museum and Cafe, spent sometime at the caffe also because it was raining, and it was really cozy, kind service, and i had a really nice experience dedicated to this great past musician!! Highly reccomended
Husband - 5/5, I would rate 3/5 stars.Positives: Did a great job clearly breaking down his life. Lots of cool items to see. Like how they included June Carter as much as they did. Great if you love history and/or country musicNegatives: If you dont like history that much, it is crowded and small.
Can I say Johnny Cash is a wonderful singer everything was fabulous in here and we really enjoyed it
We loved it. Its quick little tour of the museum for the price
The devotion put into making this museum comprehensive and informative is astounding. While when we went it was very busy, you never had to wait long to interact with the portions of the exhibits that had head phones. Some of the artifacts are incredible. The area dedicated to the his rendition of Hurt was incredible. There are many facts that I didnt know beforehand and arent really shown anywhere else. If youre a fan at all of Johnny Cash, its worth going.
A bit pricey but to learn the history of the man in black was great!
Way to much money. $46.00 for two people. I like Johnny Cash but way to expensive for what you see
It was an awesome stop for true Johnny cash fans like myself theres lots of memorabilia and facts I didnt even know about the life of the man in black
It was nice to go visit during COVID-19. Social distancing required.
Awesome collection. So well done a must see
