A gem of Nashville. My family and I will continue enjoy Belcourt Theatre and support their great efforts
I went to The Belcourt Theater twice in one weekend on a recent visit to Nashville. I had not been prior to the renovation, so I can make no comparison. The staff were all very approachable and helpful, from the ticket desk to the concessions area. As for the concessions, its nice to be able to order wine or a mixed drink to enjoy with your movie, as well as the usual popcorn. The seats are comfortable and the first time I went the theater was nearly empty; the second time it was far less than half full. Im glad it was so quiet and intimate, but I hope enough people are going to support this place! I highly recommend it to anyone in the Nashville area.
Great space and lovely representation of the cinematic arts in Nashville.
This place has so much respect for the arts, that it’s kinda crazy. Their theaters are gorgeous and they’re always playing movies with high critical acclaim (regardless of box office success. Which means most of them are independent films). Then they have midnight movies on the weekends where they play classics (like Jaws, Footloose, Dirty Dancing, The Godfather) at midnight. Their tickets are usually lower than the average theaters (around $10) and they have GREAT POPCORN.
This is an amazing cinema to go and watch all the best independent films and have a snack and beer to go along. The non-profit that runs it is dedicated to bringing the best films available to the local Nashville audience. I highly recommend supporting them while having fun doing it.
I love supporting this local theater. Always go when theyre showing old films like 2001: A Space Odyssey or Evil Dead. They also show fun exclusive stuff from time to time. The concessions are great, lots of choices, and the inside looks and feels great.
My favorite theatre EVER. so many cool events and such a chill place to hang out and watch cool movies. Love this place. I go like once a week. Staff are friendly and everything is great.
Cool place to go, and has plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Compared to other movie theaters, the concession stand is reasonably priced. A good alternative if you want to enjoy a movie with other movie lovers. A slightly elevated place for a movie date.
Went to see fight club with a friend, had a great time. This place is amazing to see old movies, new movies, indie movies, all movies. And you get to eat popcorn and drink a beer! Best memories are made here!
Very nice and clean. They serve wine, which is super cool (its $9 though). They serve beer too. And they have vegan options available, like hummus and veggie dogs instead of only popcorn like other theaters. Ill be back for sure!
Love this theatre! The staff is so friendly and the movies are wonderful. My family goes every Christmas to watch Its a Wonderful Life on the big screen.
Great little theater and apparently its a non profit which is awesome. Showing lots of indies and movies from the festival circuit. The usual concessions plus some healthier food options and beer, wine, and tea. Saw a movie in the screening room upstairs which was a great size
It is the best theater in Nashville.
Belcourt Theater has always been a great arts theater, but since the remodel, it is greater than great! The variety of films and special events has something for everyone. You can get a parking pass when you purchase your tickets. Good snacks (popcorn has improved) and they serve alcohol.
A beautiful facility with a great selection of good, although not necessarily mainstream, films. If you see a movie is showing there that seems even a little interesting, go there. Its worth a visit.
Wonderful atmosphere. Brings back an intimate setting and interaction with the film playing. That’s right, I said film
This is a fantastic local theater with comfortable seating and good views of the screens. The tickets are affordable and the experience was quality. Definitely reccomend after seeing Parasite and will certainly return.
Their remodel is awesome (though they were pretty great before) with beer/wine selections and an interesting assortment of movies. I watched the Banff film festival movies here and it was awesome.
I haven’t been here after they remodeled. It looks great. Very comfortable. Gonna take my family next time. I was by myself before
Nashville’s Indy theater is a perfect place to enjoy two hours of your time; whether on a date or just want to enjoy a movie as a cinephile. It is very close to restaurants, and bars. Its location and its close proximity to Vanderbilt campus, allows Nashvillean and out of towners alike to visit and enjoy independent movies. Its authentic atmosphere will immerse you in an “old-timey” movie theater! Although there will be no 3-D spaceship flying towards you in this movie theater, but you will certainly have a 4-D dimensional journey into silver screen!
The Belcourt is one of those places that truly transcends its title of “movie theatre.” The Belcourt is a bastion of culture and art and I count myself lucky to live in a city where such a place exists. There’s something special about going to see a movie here.
Really cool place to see a movie near the Vanderbilt campus. They clearly care about film and making sure its presented in the best possible environment. The tickets are pretty cheap, especially with a membership (reciprocal all around the country)! The concessions looked great and featured a bunch of local Nashville food and drink. Highly recommend!
Love this place even more since the renovation. Havent been here since they redid it. Looks great, theater was wonderful, and it is always nice to get to catch a movie shown in film.
Love the Belcourt, especially for a quick getaway to Nashville with my husband. They always have interesting films playing in a location with lots of interesting food.
Like the theater. Had a great time except the people that kept getting out of their seats to get a drink. Very annoying. The seating was tight but still glad they renovated a few years back instead of tearing it down for a parking lot. Oh, parking sucks but I guess thats what it is in the neighborhood.
The Belcourt is an incredible local theater filled with warm seating, a strict no cell policy, good heat/air, and the best line up of fills in town. Perfect place to come unwind. Some of my best memories are here.
This is a cute older style redone movie theater. The inside has the old school feel but it is clean and new. Enjoyed the atmosphere, movie and location
Where else, but the Belcourt Theater can you see the best foreign and independent film? Its also extremely well run boasts a string education program that often brings in directors, actors or local film/genre experts to introduce films and host post-screening discussion (a string shoot to Allison for her wonderful work)
Ticketing is streamlined. Lobby is spacious and the upstairs space features interesting art works. The expanded offerings at the concession stand are terrific. One of the best things is the new restrooms! The old one-holer has given way to a space that easily accommodates the after-the-movie emergencies as well providing space and facilities for more than one person at a time to wash their hands!!
A very special place that open up its doors to the special needs once a month where they enjoy a great movie, popcorn, and water!!
Love this place with all my independent-film-obsessed heart. While developers are working feverishly to replace history-shifting recording studios with more overpriced condos and hotels boasting thoughtless architecture, the Belcourt gives me a glimmer of hope that Nashville will have at least one unique cultural quality left untouched by dynamite and bulldozers. Anyone else agree with me? :)
Often the only theatre in town with a wide selection of independent films. Their membership helps you save on drink, snack, and ticket prices, which are already well under those of typical movie theatres. The staff is friendly, and the seating is plentiful if not always spectacularly comfortable.
This is a great place to see films that dont get a wide release! Parking is pretty easy as well which is a bonus!
The Belcourt has been such a huge part of my life as a Nashvillian - I can’t imagine who I would be without it. There is always fantastic programming and the people who make it happen are passionate, wonderful humans. Long may she reign.
Always something thought-provoking and/or that you wouldnt see someplace else. Love going. Ask to have your parking validated when you buy your ticket.I particularly like Music Mondays.
They have such a wonderful movie selection that you cant see anywhere else.Staff is always helpful and kind. The only downside is the seats dont have neck support and can be a bit uncomfortable.
They have very fun children shows. A must if you have young kids.
Clean, suitably hipster-y, and a great selection of movies, most of which wont show at more mainstream theaters. Parking voucher is included in the price of your ticket as well.
Go watch a show here a few times per year, so you can feel like youre cooler than everyone else.
If you’re new to Nashville, there are few places I recommend to welcome you and The Belcourt Theatre is top on that short list. I feel right at home at The Belcourt!
Great theatre to see an indie film. Quite a nice concession stand with great options.
Ive been seeing films here since I was young and will continue to do so. The film selections are always great and I was thankful for the renovation as adding extra screens allows for more! Thanks for being a constant friend, Belcourt!
Break away from the norm and mainstream. Treat yourself to something offbeat, artistically masterful, enriching, or thought-provoking. This is truly a cultural center that contributes to the uniqueness of Nashville.
Great small theatre. They usually show some more obscure films that are very entertaining. Finding parking will be difficult. Bring change for a parking meter or arrive very early to find a validated parking spot next to the theatre. I have not tried the food, but I have had a few drinks from there. I did not enjoy the tea or coffee, but this is always just preference. The atmosphere is wonderful. The individual theatres each have a unique theme. Some are small and some are much larger. The seats are comfortable and the audio/video quality is great! You wont need to worry about crowded theatres or fighting for a seat. Matinee showings are always great. They have cheaper prices and easier parking as well. All in all, one of my favorite theatres.
Love this place. Low stress environment, high quality films, beer and wine at the concessions, clean and beautiful interior. Nashville is lucky to have this place.
Nicely redone, but still kept that old feeling. Only downside is the staff could be nicer.
Newly renovated but still has its great tradition.
Since Ive never been to the remodeled building, it was hard to see where to step once youre inside the dark theatre. It took me about 1.5 minutes to adjust to the dark. A slither of light would be great! Otherwise, I enjoyed the rest of my stay.
One of the best cinematic experiences in my life was right here watching a movie on 35mm!Like it never went away, somethings just speak to the heart
I really like this place. They will play strange and obscure movies that are well worth a watch.
Watch movies with famous people here! Ben rector (musician) was in the same theater we were!
Very nice. Clean, great sound and bright screens.
Quaint theatre that shows indie and foreign films. If we lived in Nashville, wed definitely visit pretty often. Also close to restaurants so the sooner and a movie date works perfectly here.
Love this place. Glad they remodeled and put the box office inside and expanded the interior. Also freshening up the outside. Parking can be a bit of a challenge if your going to Rocky Horror or on special occasions so if your going, go early to park and just walk across the street for a quick bite or get a snack at the theatre. You have your choice of popcorn, candy, soft drinks or cocktails. If you have never experienced the classic Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Belcourt, I highly recommend going at least once for Halloween.
First time at a theater like this. I liked it. Everyone was very friendly. Screening room was small, but great picture and sound.
Limited free parking so come early. Great ambiance. Beer Wine bar.
First time going to this theater and it was much nicer than I expected. I took my mom to see Aretha Franklins Amazing Grace which was a fun and exciting movie. The place was clean and had lots of seats to use before the movie opened up for seating. Now the seats in the theater are not state of the art but I assumed that before going since this is an old school theater but they have still been well kept. The concession stand had several alcoholic options which was a nice change. I got coffee and popcorn and they both were hot and good. The only thing that I didnt like was that this place has limited space so they only had two attendees running the ticket booth which caused the line to grow but the ladies were both fast and friendly. This place has an old Hollywood theater feel and offers mostly independent, foreign, and documentary movies which I love. The also offer summer midnight shows and rereleased movies with a twist such as Set It Off and pizza with Slim and husky pizza in May. Seems like fun and entertaining. I definitely will keep this place in mind for the future.
Sick as always. Clean, comfortable, great vibes, and great staff.
Movies plus you get to drink? Heck yeah! Theaters are beautiful inside, tons of good snacks to buy plus booze!!! And they show movies that some theaters around wont show.
Newly remodeled. The perfect little theater for specialty movies. Programs that play here cant be seen just anywhere.
Nice theatre. They pay for parking if you purchase a ticket from them. I think thats great
Saw a wonderful documentary with Jeanette Furbish Smith about the amazing Linda Ronstadt
Went to Echo Canyon. Great film for Boomers. Music and personalities. There is no mistaking Bob Dylans son, Jacob, who is the narrator and interviewer.
Always fantastic movies and people at the Belcourt...best popcorn in town too !
This place is the best. Current and older films. Midnight movies. Beer and popcorn. I always like to come here for a movie break. The theaters are smallish and the seats comfy. The Belcourt is a fun place to spend a few hours and get lost in the stories!
The Belcourt always has an amazing selection of films, and very often runs fantastic midnight movies of various classic or cult hits.
Saw Jay and Silent Bob reboot there was amazing definitely recommended
ALWAYS a great time @Belcourt! Thanks, Ryan & Brennan! (Gosh, I hope I spelled your names correctly!)
Came to see Mandy with Nicholas Cage. Fantastic sound! It was so loud it shook the seats! An amazing experience and I would go back again!Only complaint is the seats didnt have quite enough of an incline where I was, so people in front can possibly get in the way. Overall, amazing!
Awesome old theater- perfect for a date night!
Best place in town for independent/international films.
This is by far one of my favorite places in Nashville. Love all the indie film options they have available and they also show classic movies as well, the ones you may have never caught in theater. The place is very well kept and clean and the staff does a nice job of making you feel welcome here. Highly recommend this for anyone that appreciates film and it’s art medium. Plenty of smaller and fantastic quality films that people never get a chance to see but is readily available here. They support film art here and create a culture and opportunity for next generation folks to keep that art alive and thriving. Go check this place out and support them.
The Bellcourt is a Nashville staple. Its the only place you can see movies that will be nominated for the Academy awards. I suggest anyone out of town visiting to check out a film there.
The Belcourt Theater is well staffed, polite.
Linda Ronstadt documentary is great movie.
Cute theater. Expensive concessions ($5 for candy). Sells wine, beer, and cocktails. Parking can be difficult to find but they offered to validate which was nice!
Awesome, clean theatre!! Smells wonderful!!
Great indy movies....intimate theaters. Perfect for something different to do or date night.
Every town in America needs its own Belcourt Theatre.
Love this place. Great staff. Great theaters. Amazing films and special events. They really love sharing films with people. The midnight movies are just over the top fun. We once played the old school Nintendo game for the film we were seeing on the projector before the film. These are great people who really deserve thanks for how much effort they put into these events. So, Thank you! Also they have great weekend morning kids movies! We recently saw A Town Called Panic!
Very clean and a beautiful theatre!
Its a lovely theater and excellent place to see non commercial films. In other words, the only films worth seeing! Parking is validated while youre there!
Historic theater. Has added two additional screening rooms, one small and intimate. The main room is like stepping back in time. Extensive refreshments including wine. Shows mostly art house movies with occasional first run movies in limited release. Supported by grants and memberships, but open to the public.
Favorite place to see a movie in Nashville. The renovations are nice too. I love that they have art upstairs. Always fun to go see what they have on display. They offer all the latest independent film releases but also tons of classic/cult midnight movies as well as Saturday kids films. AND they partner with Jack Whites third man records for special showings. Tons to offer and its great.
A beautiful theater! It’s like traveling back in time for a showing at one of our great theaters. Since the renovation the facility looks amazing.
The renovation looks amazing and the classic style seating brings you back to your childhood. The movie selection is awesome and the staff are both friendly and helpful, reminded me to get a parking pass for my car when I forgot to. Thank you!
This was our first time visiting Belcourt Theatre and it was a great experience! The staff was friendly, fast, and the entire venue (especially the bathrooms) were neat and tidy. We will definitely drive the hour to visit again!
Always a great experience. Get there early to ensure the seat of your choice. Expect cool movies in a fun space with a delightful staff. Vegan and GF options available for snacking. Good beer and wine, too. The tiny theater upstairs is my favorite!
Great small theater. Some films are foreign with English subtitles. They give you a parking ticket. The popcorn is soooooo good . I like the quaint smallness of the refurbished saved from destruction theatre. It was built in 1920 and would have been razed if not for the passion of one woman!
Great experience watching the film showing of Once upon a Time in Hollywood.
Great local theatre playing independent films. Great film series and midnight cult classics. Popcorn made with real butter and super friendly employees.
Love the films you can see here and no other theaters show them. Good concessions too.
I dont go there.
Nice looking place. The $6 hotdog they sold me was stone cold, not even warm, literally uncooked in a bun never touched by fire or microwave. Thats worth 2 stars in my book.
