I came here at dusk to watch the sunset and the birds come home to roost and it was an amazing experience. The birds get so loud, its unreal. Also the watchtower gives you incredible views of the sunset. The tower itself is a relatively short walk from the parking lot. Neither of the viewfinders worked, so bring your own binoculars if you want to zoom in on the birds.

The marsh was spectacular when we were there and had all the all the bird watching and photographic opportunities you could possibly want. When we were there the marsh was dominated by egrets, storks and an occasional great blue heron. And all of this in the middle of the day in the bright sunlight. We may have caught an exceptionally good viewing time but I encourage everyone to check it out if youre in the area. This was the largest collection of the wonderful birds of Florida that I have ever seen in one place.

I would say ... it’s wilderness as God created ... signs everywhere warning of wild bob cats ... so just make sure you don’t go that far in case a cat or an alligator shows up ... make sure you have an umbrella ....

Love the place, lots of wild life all kind. Very relaxing. Amazing view from the observation tower, expectacular!... Just called my attention, even when there are parking for disability and the first store of the observation tower is accessible, there isnt a restroom and no drinking water in the area...

Good parking area at trailhead. No latrines. Beautiful walk along a dirt road past several marshes. An observation tower about a 1/4 mile out. Can walk about 1.5 miles out and then back. Many birds: wood storks, white pelicans, blue heron, ducks, and osprey. A few alligators.

LOVE IT! Almost a straight path that starts off asphalt and goes to a dirt road. Very flat with mangroves and water on both sides. And abundance quantity of birds and species.

Watch out for deer flies! And mosquitoes. Walk down the middle of the trail as you will see multiple gator crossings where the grass is flat from where they slide in and out. Snakes and other critters will be moving all around you. There is a cool 2 story observation deck. Enjoy the view

The area is really pretty. However depending on the time of year there can be lots of horse flies or whatever. This does make what could be a nice walk a little annoying. Otherwise the walk is short and easy. There is a small observation tower.

Very neat little trail to walk, and not too far from Marco Island. Depending on the time of year, I would most definitely bring some bug spray, and be prepared with long sleeves too. Nice vantage point from the lookout tower, those not looking to hike the trail could probably stop here.

This Ten Thousand Islands NWR Trailhead has a paved parking area and interpretive displays. A gravel road serves as the nature trail with wetlands on both sides. Multiple park benches are positioned at vantage points and an observation tower provides a bird’s eye view of the marsh. The area is teaming with birds, fish, and alligators.
