Time shift back to a time when American communities were actually community, a bucolic setting to anchor the experience of trails, art works, and now-shuttered social amenities. Still a really nice spot for a stroll or a dog walk, enjoying the open drainage ditch that is the DuPage River as it winds through downtown Naperville. Enjoy it now before Naperville finishes encasing the banks in 5 story parking garages.
LOVE this spot. I had no idea this was here but I’m a big fan & as a photographer this is a great location to use for shoots. The water is nice & the walk is well kept & has some great shops & cafes & restaurants all along it. There are nice sculptures and flowers and artwork along the path, as well as beautiful bridges. I definitely want to explore more.
Great for an mid evening walk in the fall. After 5pm it becomes a little too busy. So if you want to miss the crowds go between 1pm and 4pm.
Amazing! My friends and I have been coming here for years just to walk around, eat and have fun. Our town is kind of trash and boring so this is such a pretty place to come too for a change (big change) of scenery. Love it and will keep coming back!
Great place to walk. Very pretty. I almost got attacked by a hawk here.
So check it. Naperville is a nice place. All them bougie chicks wandering around in packs with their ugg boots and their yoga pants and their starbucks. Dudes in polos and khaki shorts. Tons of food places, ice cream, cupcakes. Theres a grilled cheese store. Grilled. Cheese. Store. I know thats poor folk food, and I know that because I used to eat for a week on like $5 rockin the cheese. They charge like $8 to grill you one cheese though. It has bbq pork, or chicken or whatever you want on it too tho. Anyway, my larger point is that this is a nice neighborhood. So lets talk river walk. I saw a whole family bathing in the river the other day while another family drifted on by in some canoes. Like, WHAT? Theyve got it all. Theres a bell tower kicking out bangers all day, they got some kinda xylophones for people to play along, I saw a string quintet playing Bach or something the other day. I was like, when did I get to Leipzig in 1724? Wild. Anyway, this is the place to be, Summer, Spring, Fall, even Winter. Were talking magical four seasons entertainment for you. Five stars. I know haters coming at ya with that, Its not as nice as Venice bull. Listen bro, Venice is sinking. You think Naperville about to sink into the swamp? Aint no swamp here, this is Illinois. We repping those fluvial geomorphisms all day, err day. Dont step up with that beef less yalls tryna get river walked on. Respect.
What an absolutely beautiful river walk Naperville has. They keep it clean and tidy. The restaurants next to it are perfect to sit down and relax after a long walk.
Its gotten way to commercialized over the years. To much built up right to it. Its not a peaceful place to walk anymore. Like it used to be. When I was younger. Glad I dont live by it anymore. It used to be such a nice place to visit.
Very nice place to walk. Near downtown and free parking available. The only concern is that it can get crowded and, by far, most people are not wearing masks during Covid. When I mentioned the maskless situation to two bicycling policemen, one laughed and they both rode on...
A really great river walk with a nice downtown atmosphere. You definitely feel like you are part of nature with how close you get to the water and how covered with trees the path is.
This is a great place to visit and have a great time eating walking around and stores to visit its a great atmosphere
Beautiful, lots of shaded areas to sit or walk along, clear running river and some fishing going on. Good place for a picnic or romantic walk!
Relaxing walk near the river. Not too crowded.
My husband proposed to me here 33 years ago. It was still beautiful there back then. Now the Riverwalk has grown and improved greatly. A great place to go for everyone. We come back a couple times every year.
I walk around here frequently because I live close by, but if its a nice day (and weekend) expect it to be packed with people.
Beautiful walk. Lovely flowers.
My daughter and I have been bringing our furry friend Miley to naperville riverwalk since hes been 8 weeks old. He absolutly loves it. If I say the word Naperville riverwalk he gets so excited.and wants to get in the car. We could be 5 or more blocks away from there and he senses somehow its coming up. Mikey would run laps around there. Every overy would stop us to tell us how beautiful he is and always ask to pet him. All the people are very nice and friendly. And theirs alwzys policemen on bicycles riding around to help keep us safe.its always very cleanthey have.such beautiful flowers and landscaping. They decorate their walk on bridges for every season or holudays. Mikey is a border collie/ Australian shepherd and has beautiful markings. Hes a blue mural. Even though Mikey Blue us now 10 yrs old and has had surgery on both back legs (one being a torn acl ) he is no longer able to run like he use to. However he still gets so excited if i say Naperville riverwalk. In stead of running around like he was once able to do we now have our own spot where we sit in the grass facing the river and the restsrants and enjoy listening to the music. Its amazing how nice people are there. Even though Mikey cant get up and run people come up to him and pet him and talk to him. We have a huge yard at home but he still prefers to lay down at the riverwalk much more. After 3 hours or more being g up there I have to coax him to go home.. we re so happy that Naperville riverwalk has given us that special, serene and lovely place to call our other home..
Nice walk with several things to read and explore. The on/off ramps have interesting things to read ss well
Beautiful park with the bell tower nice to relax or picnic with friends. Clean restrooms.
Very refreshing after being Pinned up in the house its a must see explore
Beautiful nature
Its so beautiful here!!
The river walk is beautiful and always a great place to take the kids and go for a walk.
Great place to walk with pets, family and friends : ) Or if your looking for a place to read. Its just great all round.
Absolutely beautiful gem in the heart of Naperville. An excellent date night idea! Very close proximity to plenty of recreation and shops/restaurants. Many art exhibits dot the pathway and pose great areas to stop and appreciate the artistry that went into them.
The Riverwalk is amazing. Always clean and an amazing place to play Pokemon Go (especially on community days) take a trip and check it out.
So beautiful in the fall!!
Absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended.
Very pieceful
Nice walk along river.
Is there good fishing in there? but otherwise i love the riverwalk. especially on leprechauns day when they make it green.
Amazing river great scenary
Great for the pokes
This place never fails to amaze me! The restaurants and ice cream places are very good and, the streets themselves are lively. There is always someone playing their music and the walls are painted with art. The river itself is decent as well.
Very peaceful and a great place to walk the dog with the family. Everyone in the town is extremely nice. You can find any kind of food for lunch or dinner. Great experience Everytime we go.
Its a beautiful place
This is amazing place for an morning/evening walk/run, friends timeout, pet walk, or just evening playtime. The view of river from all points is simply great. I love going to this place - they have kayaking too in the river. There is clock tower, a playground which is lush green, Nicholas library and some cafes. Also Napervile downtown is right by the river side - so shopping, natural stroll, dinner all can happen at one place.
Love it... well taken care of!
The river was a lot dirtier and barely had any water flow in it
Beautifully well-kept walk along the Des Plaines River. Very peaceful and clean. So relaxing...
Relaxing to walk around in evening
Perfect way to walk the dogs, spend time taking in sights, and not spend too much money.
Not as impressive as I expected.
I enjoy my walks along the river. Peaceful and lovely
Nice walk on an unusually warm March evening.
Enjoy coming here with my family. Theres a lot to do. Paddle boating, swimming in the warmer weather months. One of our favorite places to go for a walk.
Nice park, lush green and quite place
Excellent river walk with plenty to do around in the area as well. My wife and I went for a nice walk while waiting in the area and really enjoyed the cooler temperatures and the shade.
The River is very high today. Upper walks are just fine but the lower walks are partially or mostly covered with water. The river is moving very fast in places. 10/4/2019
Hello Napervilles Venice️
Incredibly beautiful, peaceful, family oriented place! There is lots to see, activities to undertake, including the concerts, paddleboarding, and kayaking, among other fun activities like shopping or enjoying a walk a long the river. They have great restaurants in the area including Meson Sabrika which has a delicious buffet style brunch on Sundays, the food mouthwatering, another must go restaurant!
So peaceful.
Great place to walk
Rather enjoyed strolling along the river bank. Kids loved it
So nice place to relax, take a leisure walk, swim in the pool, pedal the boat on the lagoon, not to mention the varied commercial area nearby to drink and dine. Awesome place!
Amazing place to just casually stroll around on a lazy sunday. Nice scenery.
Nice place to take a stroll along the river to hang out or watch the ducks.
Place was amazing! We will definitely be back.
A pretty little River Walk with little stores and restaurants along the way recommend spending a few hours Im checking it out
Beautiful walk
Nothing quite like it in the western suburbs for spending an evening outside. Public and close to civilization, yet scenic.
For the second year Im there as a volunteer security, I like how everything is organized and how much people come in every day
Everything fine, but at some places walkways are too narrow for the kids to walk alone.
Nice and relaxing walk around the river and very nice shops in the downtown area
Gorgeous day!!
Very nice and we found a carillon.
I have to go there all the time a go back to Downers GroveHighly recommended
What a awesome Park every Community should be so blessed to have one like that
Stop at red mango before you begin the walk. Great on any hot day
If its too hot, theres always shade and plenty of places to sit. There are public bathrooms attatched to the cafe. The whole area is awesome for pokemon go too.
Wonderful place to relax in and enjoy some time along the river. Its been built up with more and more places to visit and stores to visit.
We did the walk at night and it was very Scenic even then.
I like watching the water, flowing down the river. I stop at the 9-11 Memorial. I say a pray for all them all. You will see a tear on my face.
Great place for a nice evening stroll
Its soothing and calm . Loved the 64 Wine bar...great views...the water could have been cleaner to get a high five from me
Nice place to walk
Very nice place
Crowded on weekends. A manicured and unnatural version of nature.
I love to walk here ...so peaceful and friendly...
Walk with family in light cold weather and the sun is setting for the day, you dont want to miss this time with family along the flowing river that gives an everlasting memorable place in your mind, that can be cherished in times to come.
Good wildlife!
Beautiful & festive
Excellent
Nice outdoor walks with many features, sculptures, fountains and places to sit. My home town.
