Massive. Love the greens. And undulating landscape. Awesome for jogging, trekking, cycling or plodding along. Good doggy get away. Place for a nature get together....ring ceremonies, baby showers, family do, you get the hang. But. Those sign posts do NOT tell you how far or what you are getting into. Place gets 9. Help gets you ....ok. leave it at that. Enjoy nature. And sunsets. As you trundle along.

Springbrook is the perfect place to run or bike or, hey, just go for a walk. Its all crushed limestone and very open and safe. The main loop is about 5.4 miles around crossing Book Road twice (once north, once south). There are two primary parking lots: 83rd Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road (which has restrooms); also, there is a smaller parking lot off P-N Road and you can connect from Walmarts lot. There is a little elevation change and Bek Hill which has a nice view of the Preserve. For fun, you can also run under the P-N overpass and get another 3 mile loop, some of which is grass and dirt; that section has a little bridge which is very picturesque.

This is beautiful place to hike in DuPage county, and is maintained very well. It’s a nice place to just chillax after a long day and it is right nearby to popular 75th street. But... that doesn’t mean that the place is noisy. I would definitely recommend!

Ma
Review №6

The parking lot is pretty small so on a busy day you may be out of luck. But the trails are expansive and well taken care of, excellent for a bike ride or walk. And a bonus if you fly RC planes/helicopters/drones - they have an excellent flying field!

Lovely open trail thats a nice change from the canopies of the usual forrest preserve trail. Like the loop 5.5 trail, nice for exercise. Not too busy. Near the road so you always hear the cars. No shade so definitely would not go on hot day. Dog park is lovely, one of the best Ive been to.

Was a nice place to go for a walk yesterday but was very busy with other walkers, runners, bike riders, and dog walkers so that was the only unfortunate part. The trails are made of the tiny white rocks so not a flat service, so make sure you wear shoes that are comfy. Overall, this place is only 16 minutes away so I am sure we will be back again. Oh FYI, bathrooms and picnic areas are closed right now due to the pandemic going on.

Wanted to go for a hike today, it was a combination of a light hike / walk. I’m glad I looked at the map a couple minutes in cuz there’s a trail called Henslow’s Trail that’s a bit more, shall I say, rustic, than the main limestone path. It goes for 2 miles before connecting back to Sunflower Trail for another mile. The limestone path is great for cycling & running, but a lil boring for just a stroll.

Nice dog park, plus paved walking and biking path around lake. Fishing and boating. Certain months for boating okay. Only thing I was shocked with is you need to have a permit to use the dog parks in ALL of Illinois that I can see. A far cry from dog parks being free in Oregon.

We really enjoyed how easy it was to navigate through this path. This isn’t always the case with the paths out here! We took the kids with their bikes and a little disappointed that the paths were gravel at first. But it worked out well. It actually adds cushion to walking and it didn’t interfere with the girls being able to navigate their bikes. One was even a very new rider.

Beautiful place to escape into the wilderness for a good hour. Plenty of flowers along the path. The whole trail is very well maintained. Its a paved path the whole trail witch I loved. Only thing I didnt like was the circle turn in the middle of the field with can be a bit confusing if u not looking at your phone since there is no mapping witch is why I give it 4 stars.

The park occupies a fairly large territory. very convenient map and location system. Great for athletes: cyclists, runners and walkers. and it will also be interesting for your dog)) when you overcome 5.5 miles with it, then your dog will probably sleep all day. pay attention to this point: this is a prairie park, not a forest! therefore there are few sites in the shade of trees. it can be very hot in the sun, even in cool weather. do not forget the hat! the landscape is quite monotonous, but certainly beautiful. this is a real prairie! with the aroma of wild herbs, many birds and butterflies. if you are running or you like fast cycling, be careful: there are two crossings over a busy road, do not accelerate))

Well maintained paths wide enough to allow two way traffic without having to step off the trail. Not much protection from the wind and the sun. Wasnt an issue for our hike. Weather was overcast and wind wasnt bad. Trail is fairly flat very little elevation changes throughout. The main trail we were on crossed Book road twice but both are at well defined stop lights. Overall it made for a great cub scout hike. Just over six miles.

This is a good place to walk the dog. If your lucky enough, you can watch the REALLY cool & elaborate radio controlled aircraft being operated on a well constructed tarmac. Springbrook Prairie is freaking awesome. Seriously, its a gem in the midst of disgusting suburban sprawl and strip malls. (That said, if looking out across a beautiful, serene prairie and seeing a looming Wal*Mart in the distance is enough to make you cry, maybe... dont put on your glasses when you stop by.)The main path here is about 5.5 miles in a loop, which cant really be shortened unless you want to take an out-and-back approach. There are mile markers every half mile, so thats not terribly difficult to execute.

One of the best walking trails around. Bikers, Hikers, runners, and the occasional dog walker, although they have a designated area, some people with dogs walk the trail as well. Most people will give a nod to fellow walkers, which keeps it friendly. Nice flora along with native wild flowers in abundance adds to the ambiance. Bird life is very present as well.

It is a almost flat area for Jogging, Walking, or Biking. There are two major loops for that. One is about 5 mile, and the other 2.2 miles of packed coarse sand paths. Recently they upgraded the trail markings thourghout. Has a remote controlled model plane air field. The only small negative thing about this place is that a road cut through the 5 mile loop, which means you have to cross the road twice in order to complete a loop. Plenty of parking spaces (2 lots).

This place is a huge prairie--not a house in sight anywhere. The view of the sunsets are like you are in the middle of nature, and yet major 75th St is just up down the road, and you are littlerly 3-5 minutes from malls and stores and restaurants and the busy Rt 59. There is a sandstone path leading to the Model Airplane Field from which you get year-round views the sunset right down to the very horizon (See photo). Just so relaxing
