I love going here with my kids. We go 2 times a year. Amenities are great for all ages, its clean and quiet. Not sure why we cant make fires at our site other than gas and fake logs. Smores are only great on open wood fire flames. All around great time. The cabins are also a really nice touch, stayed there one night just to try them out. Very cozy and comfortable.

The campsite it beautiful and spacious. The people (other campers) are friendly but not on an uncomfortable way. Pets are allowed but I havent seen a single pet just wandering around or getting into an altercation they have all been very well behaved. The bathrooms are very well kept. Its clean, cool and always stocked with soap. There is a trash pick up during the day and everyone seems to know when to put their bags out and its picked up quickly by the campsite workers. We had an issue with the cable, called in the issue and they had a worker to us quickly. He tested our hookups and we found the issue was with our older model tv. The worker was kind, efficient and knowledgeable. The best part was he didnt complain about wearing a mask. He parked and put his mask up then stood at the end of the lot while we fumbled around (because remembered at the last second we needed ours did I mention patient? He was patient) looking for ours. We havent figured out the wifi situation but Im sure if we call the front post they will let us know how to fix that as well. Finally, you can fish in the lakes or you can walk to the clean beaches.

We have been very pleased so far with our stay here. I just wanted to comment on the bath houses. The crew for #6 was awesome. The facilities were clean & ample. Showers were tiled & very easy to use. Mena & Jacque are doing a very thorough job of keeping the bathroom clean & safe for the campers! Kudos to all the staff here at Pirates Land!

This was our first time to Myrtle Beach and the Pirateland campground. We got a spot on the main road right by the beach which was awesome (if you don’t mind the street noise). They have golf carts for rent to help you get around the campground with it being so big. The beach and pool were both very nice. Everything else closed by 8pm so we were unable to get ice cream or enjoy the arcade.

Well, after sleeping in the car, to keep from burning alive, after we were told we could not get in after 12:00pm, when it was 12:03 everything was good. Personally I have been camping 8 years and never been told I couldnt check in after a certain time. I dont have a problem with that, but you would think someone would be courteous enough to tell you over the phone when you book.

There are three campgrounds nearly side by side directly on the ocean. This is the most casual and people friendly one, and the only one that has an 8x8 covered hut on almost every site. The beach front is extremely long so there is plenty of room for everyone, even at high tide.

ProsReally enjoyed the stay we just stayed this past week we had an amazing time. Still giving five stars well deserved but, just want feed back on what’s listed below.Cons.Kids on the golf carts driving like they on a race track with no care in the world flying up and down the roads and around curves almost hit my kids numerous times while riding there bikes. Hope to see if better control can be made against this I am all in for having a good time but, this was unacceptable. Of course I don’t have to come back if I don’t like it this and that but, that’s not the case I really love it there my parents have been camping there for years.

Ive been coming to this campground with my family since 1992. I love this place. They constantly update it and I brought my 4 year old and my husband here for the first time this past week and they loved it.We rented one of the cabins off the main road for the first time (usually we bring our camper so this was a first for us) and they are so amazing were planning on coming back in the fall and renting one again instead of a hotel. They were very clean and within walking distance of the ocean and the pools/other amenities. We went during Covid-19 time and they were taking all the proper precautions and sanitizing all the time. One thing that I thought was extremely smart was they were shutting down their pool ever few hours to sanitize the area for about 30 minutes and theyd reopen up and carry on.But one of the best things is the convenience of things. Like their camp store has just about anything you need and theyre not super overpriced. And every night they have a good truck so if you dont feel like cooking, youre covered. They have golf cart rentals in the park, fishing in their lakes or on the beach, A arcade with a grill and even an ice cream shop.Overall I still love the place and my first timers loved it too. 10/10.

My grandson has a cracked skullHe has a concussion. we told the campground about it and gave us 2 more days to stay while he was in hospital.. then when he came out of hospital we couldn’t travel for 4 days and the campground gave us 4 more days free to help us out.. Sits on the beach. Its own little city with all the conveniences. Picnic tables are dangerous. The bench to sit on is too narrow and close to the table for adults. If I was a senior, I would have broken my hip.The staff promptly addressed this. Just not its not just our table...

We stayed here for 4 nts and its ok! A few things need fixing such as we were told we couldnt bring sippy cups onto the pool, (apparently no external drinks whatsoever), for my kids and the arcade was confusing. Je attendant (once we realized there as on) was playing games and we were struggling for 5 mins to figure out how to buy a game pass. And there is no bar even though it states there is and the food menu is limited. They wont sell you slices of pizza even though its on the menu you have to buy a whole a pizza. Id definitely recommend the beach lot rather than the inland as they have more stable areas such as concrete or grass.

Campground was fine. Had some great campers nearby. So many golf carts you couldnt cross the road. Most drivers sped on by. Speed limit for cars is 10 mph but golf carts whizzed around much faster. Then there was the store experience! We picked up a little cord for glasses but apparently we misread the price badly. Our mistake because we thought they were $1.59 but they were $15.99! When I noticed this at the register, I was told is was already on my card and the transaction was already processed and it was too late. WHAT!!! I was shocked. But she kept repeating, Im so sorry. It was a mistake on our part but bad business practice on the part of the campground.BE CAREFUL ! If you can, buy somewhere else.

Awesome campground. One of the best Ive ever been too. The rating is more due to amenities and location than anything else. Sites are TIGHT and small, but you do get a lovely covered picnic table area. The beach is steps from the good sites. Huge arcade, chuckie cheese like. Golf cart rentals are very well priced....and oh yeah, the mini waterpark is AWESOME! We have kids spaced in age from 14 months to 15yrs old. The water options are fitting for EVERYONE with splash pad and kid area to lazy river and Olympic size pool. Staff has been friendly and the site seems very secure with security on golf carts etc. Great place and we will return

Instead they didnt look at either but charged $3.00 for a pass. Was there for about an hour and a half. Next time I want to see them they will have to come out and meet elsewhere. Right hand doesnt know what left hand requires. Glad my camping is at a hotel/motel if this is any example of campgrounds.

I can only comment on the RV pull through site, the beach and the camp store as we did not utilize any other amenities this time. Location to the beach can not be beat. We were only a few sites from the beach at a pull through slot. The beach is great, however much more crowded this year then when we went 3 years ago. But that may just be to the timing on our stay. We had a site with a concrete pad. If you can, I would recommend getting one with a concrete pad because when it rains the grounds turn into a muddy mess. My biggest issue is with the maintenance of the sites. THEY DO NOT MOW GRASS!!!! I called the office and asked if our grass could be mowed, they sent someone over the next morning, 3 young guys showed up, when I came out of the RV the only grass that was mowed was around the neighbors power box. Our picnic table sat in tall grass the whole time we were there. I called and inquired about this and they said they would send someone over. They never did. I know others have made comments about the golf carts, but that truly never bothered me. Yes, there are a lot of them but families have a great time driving around and the kids love it. The camp store had plenty to choose from and seemed well stocked. And everyone we had interaction with was very friendly. I can not express this enough. CUT THE GRASS. It is beyond frustrating trying to picnic and trekking through the grass and it would just look so much better if the grounds were maintained.

We came here and my husband had in mind he would hate it bc he can’t bring his own golf cart. We were placed on a site too small for our camper. He wanted to roll. Within five minutes they found a site we could fit on with a 44 ft camper. It was so close to the beach we didn’t even need a golf cart like other places we have been. The bath houses were fabulous and almost every person we meet was a delight. All in all it’s an almost perfect place to vacation.

After spending 7 days at Pirate land I gotta pretty good feel for the place. On the positive side the camping sites are big, bigger than most campgrounds. Along with the large space every site on the beach side has a shelter. If you have a large family this is the campground for you. However there are a few draw backs. The traffic on the main road and beach front road is chaotic. The large sites you do have flood with every rain storm. Because the sites are dirt the grass keeps the water right around your camper. In my section it seemed particularly bad because all the water would build up around the sewer drains, like above your ankles deep. The last drawback is main pool is only 4ft deep. Im a person who likes a deep pool, but most pools are atleast 5ft.I have stayed at Oceanlakes, Myrtle beach KOA, and now Pirateland. Out of the 3 campgrounds my family of 4 prefer Oceanlakes. However if you are camping with a big family or multiple families Pirateland is a good option.

The beach is very convenient to the campground. The beach was beautiful. The cable signal was a little spotty. The internet which was advertised as an amenity was nonexistent. When I attempted to address it with the front desk it was made clear to me that I was responsible for calling tech support and resolving it. There was no recourse. I called tech. No answer for an hour. I called again and left a second vm. The tech did a few things and called back with no positive results. They wanted to make an appointment with me the next day from 10 to 12. I told him that I was not giving up my vacation and they could check my wifi at my campsite without me and then call. They didnt call. I complained via phone to the front desk. She took my statement with no positive feedback. Other items... water sewer and covered picnic table were all there. The bath house was acceptable. The golf cart at 33 a day was reasonable and made getting around convenient.

Check in was worse than disorganized being they told us our site was ready however arrived and it was still occupied. Took over an hour while we waited for occupants to vacate. Had to park in another site and then that RV arrived not being able to set up. Then the power post was in front of our site (normally in rear in every other modern campground) and my cord was too short. The office was nice enough to lend me one for $60 deposit. Of course the power post had no 15 amp for rented golf cart so had to buy again an adapter from the store. The golf cart pulled to many amps to plug into camper without flipping breaker. No security to be found, but plenty of misfits playing vulgar music at this Family Campground on their golf carts driving them like they stole them. I usually stay at Lakewood Family Campground and regret we opted to try Pirateland this summer. When we leave here well NEVER return or recommend to any of our camping friends. If you are in a bind and have no other place to camp other than Pirateland, go back home!

Never thought I would give this place a bad review but after 15 years of staying here the time has come. We have stayed in the same group of 4-6 villas for all these years and always reserved for the next year before we left and rolled over our deposit however this year with a new computer system we had to pay a new deposit and get a refund on the one that had been rolled over all these years...no big deal until we get home and all of us start getting calls that in order to reserve a specific villa we had to pay in full although we had paid a $20 lock fee and our receipts showed the villa number. I called and spoke to Sharon who told me this had been the policy and that we had just got lucky and my wife told me that was policy but had never been an issue and we had always got our villas because we had been loyal customers... I guess loyalty means nothing and if I’m so lucky as to get the same units for the last 15 years then I wish I had played the lottery more! I was told that we would be grouped together but couldn’t get a firm guarantee. I stay at several other locations throughout the year that are much nicer than this and never pay in full until 30-60 days out so not sure why it’s become a big deal here and even the stipulation letter we just received is so different than it has been that I think it’s time for our families to find another vacation spot. I would like to say thanks for several years of great vacations and I hate that things have changed for the worst or we would’ve been for many years to come! Not sure if it’s new management or what but customer service goes a long way and it is very lacking at Pirateland anymore. Venture Out PCB 2021 here we come!!

My family is here for the first time. My daughters friend was harassed by the guards and management did nothing. We own several homes that we rent out, each on short term basis, and we often are looking for somewhere to stay ourselves when our homes are all rented. Our daughter’s friend invited us here, as they planned to be here for 8 days or so. We have been having a wonderful time until this crazy incident. My daughter’s friend was at her camper a couple lots over (there are no occupied lots between us). My daughter was with her and they were outside playing with her puppy. An older gentleman in a light blue button up, grey hair, and glasses approaches the kids. He asks who a truck parked nearby belonged to. She said she didn’t know. He began to get more aggressive and speak to her in an interrogative manner. Scared, my daughter ran over to get us (my younger son was there too). She said that an old man was harassing her friend. Of course, we jumped up to get over there. As I walk up, this man is still trying to get her to say whose vehicle this was. She, again, said she didn’t know. He said, “If you don’t tell me now who this truck belongs to, I’m going to tow it.” She shrugged her shoulders and and said, “Okay!” I told him that he can’t speak to a child that way and if there is a problem, he needs to address the adults that rented that spot. He ignored me and spoke over me to again speak to the child accusing her of creating a mess on the opposing neighbors picnic table and something about some dogs. She was scared and didn’t know what to say, other than that she had being staying with us since she’s been here; which she has been. He asked who all is staying in her camper. I shut it down and told her to go back to my camper. He yelled at her to call her mom. She had already told him her mom was at the pool and had attempted to call her many times, at this point. She began to walk towards my camper and he demanded my tag number and after yelling at me, “You’re going to be in trouble, Missy!”, he threatened to have me thrown out of the campground. I told him I have done nothing wrong here. If the vehicle doesn’t belong there, then tow it. Why harass and threaten a child? Or Me? Another gentleman pulled up on a golf cart in a royal blue collar shirt and dark hair. He radioed in to find something about some tent tags that had been issued. I am not sure. The girl got through to her mother who pulled up. I then removed myself from the situation. I still do not know whose vehicle it was, nor do the three children involved. I feel that employees that are meant to secure the grounds should make me feel safe. Instead, I was attacked. I work in social media and incidents like this is the very core of business injury or failure. Unfortunately, my family will not me back.

Let me start off by saying we will be returning one day. We just went when all amenities were closed (around May 16th). So for the price, it would SO be worth it with the amenities. Most people who had been there before had outdoor rugs for themselves and/or dogs because of the thorns all over the grass. Literally, its everywhere. My kids had a hard time also, even with flipflops. Our puppy was miserable. We tried calling and got hung up on literally 5-6 times before anyone ever answered and we never reached anyone, so we did everything online and hoped for the best. Sites are small but it appears the in-land sites had a little more room and not that much further from the beach. The beach was BEAUTIFUL. The bathhouse was well kept. Camping neighbors were more than kind here! Everyone was friendly. We are excited to return when everything opens and with an outdoor rug! 4/5 stars

Upon arrival we were taken aback by ALL golf cart and bicycle traffic. It is a very busy family campground. Even though some of the narrow roadways inside the campground were designated as one way, this rule was loosely adhered too. We were in a very nice shady area surrounded by trees and really nice camping neighbors. Most of the camping neighbors were very courteous, polite and helpful, even helping new neighbors backing into their sites. Some would have to move their vehicles or golf carts out of the way to accommodate the tight turns into the site. But once we were set up, our site was very roomy. We use a surge protector to whenever we hook up to the electric posts, We did have to call for maintenance to replace the 30 amp service on the post because it was showing reverse polarity. it was taken care of with an hour of our set up. I recommend anyone camping to use a surge protector on your camper. As far as golf cart charging, yes, it can cause fuses to blow in your camper if you are using your outside outlet to charge the golf cart. We are experienced campers, so my husband had adapters to bypass it and we didnt have any issues. The public bathhouses were clean and updated. We found the best time to shower would be late morning, after it was cleaned and before everyone came off the beach. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Word of caution: As I stated before, There are a lot of golf carts and young children riding bikes. They will just whip around you without warning or stopping. So you really have to pay attention, and look all around you before making any turns, etc. The speed limit thru the campground is 10 miles per hour. I would recommend it to be lowered to 5 miles per hour., which is the standard in some other campgrounds we have been too. Also, you cannot bring your own golf cart or rent one from anyone else outside the campground. You have to rent one from the rental place inside the campground. Reason for only 4 stars. I did check with some other golf cart rental places and they were cheaper. We chose to camp as a way of social distancing while on vacation. The beach did get crowded in the middle of the day, so we went for early sunrise /sunset walks on the beach, and stayed off the beach during peak times. We also noticed NO Lifeguards or flags to let you know if the ocean currents were safe to swim in. This is no reflection on the campground. Horry County is responsible for beach safety. If you are going to swim on the beach, use caution and check water conditions before hand. Stay safe friends.

Camp site was dirty when we arrived. Beer bottle tops and peanut shells all under our covered area. Packed in like sardines and kids just walk right thru your camp site. Pool and lazy river was clean and nice. Theft was an issue for alot of people around us. Been camping for over 30 years and have never had to lock up items. They should be able to hire security and spend some $$ to keep area clean.

Good things: Close to the beach, has all the trailer hook ups, has a picnic bench and ramada. Bad stuff: entire camp spot was a swamp. It rained and the water pooled up under the camper and picnic bench. Not every spot was like this but ours was really bad.

I’ve stayed at here a couple times and it seems to be maintained less and less. For starters I know golf carts can be annoying when they are blaring music and I know there’s a quite time, but if you are simply driving to the bathroom causing no drama I see no problem. If I am paying for a golf cart I do not want to be told you can drive it past a certain time if I’m just minding my own business. Need to work on things that actually need forced. Place has gotten dirtier. We also called in advance before we came here (reason we even came her) if we could bring our own paddle boards kayak etc. and we were told yes. Find out when we get there and put them in the water area we are not allowed. We have to rent there’s. This place gets you with money all the time. Use the money to update place. Get on the same page because lugging all that equipment to find out you can’t is a real pain. Won’t be back.

Very large park with several activities. The staff was everything you could ask for: helpful, friendly, informative, and truly cared about our experience. In April, while we were there, an RV show was going on as well as food trucks. Our family enjoyed the new bath houses and the laundry facilities. Overall, a very good time.

This is a nice place to bring family and children if you have them. There are plenty of swimming pool chairs which has a large pool and a lazy river. Theres also a large splash pad for small kids. Theres an indoor pool with an indoor hot tub also. They have a miniature Putt-Putt on site which is $3 per player. They sell snow cones at the pool for $4 each word seemed a little steep. We came out of season in the prices were roughly $50 per night for full hookups. Speaking of hookups all lot of the campsites had a picnic table which was covered by a wooden structure. Or wooden structure was a little old and dilapidated but function properly. The biggest negative I can say is they have their sewer outlets beside the RV which are raised approximately 8 inches from the ground. if you know anything about draining your black tank you know that you need to have a constant downward slope and even with a device to keep my sewer line did a gradual descent it still did not end up over 8 in which caused a backlog of water in the sewer pipe. It did not go into my unit but its still one word you have to pick up the hoses to drain them when you leave and I had to use duct tape to keep the fitting within the pipe area because they did not have a screw and feature. The staff is incredibly nice and they have a nice store to include drinks and anything you need for an RV or last minute food prep

Be sure you ask if half of the bathhouses are down for maintenance, or if the ones near you are. ours were. not terribly friendly employees either, the whole experience was just kind of, meh. I guess the location is good, and they have a beach, so its ok, but its not terribly relaxing when they choose to close most bathrooms, and basically grunt at you if you ask a question. Ill probably choose one of the others next to it next time.

Our lesson learned this year is never settle for a campground because your normal is full. Just change the dates! As much as I’ve enjoyed the family I haven’t enjoyed this campground. It’s dirty, tight spots, no adequate dog walking area, some of the staff was great but the admin/management side really lacks in professionalism. I will say their bathhouses are really nice. They apparently have a COVID case in the grill and although we all take risks when going out, I accept that, however they are suppose to at least release the dates and time the employee worked and they have refused to do that. So their transparency is nonexistent and when others questions them they were extremely rude and will block you off the page. They absolutely do not want questions nor take helpful advice well. I will say the workers that I found to not be very customer friendly are the ones that actually live in the campground. The feeling seems to be they would rather no tourists come here. Anywho, lesson learned on the campground side of things but loved being with the kids and announcing our family is growing. (P.S. the campground to be at is Lakewood).
