I love one of the greatest lakes of Michigan, Lake Michigan. One of the biggest fresh water oceans with such crystal blue waters. Im originally a born and raised Michigander, Ive been a SW Floridian now since 2005. I was back home to MI to be with family and turn the big 50yrs old. Upon arriving to the pier the sight was heart warming. That warmth was denounced once we stepped foot into the water even though it was a 90 day. My daughters and grandson had no problem enjoying the waves and myself and boyfriend had none with the beach.

We visited the beach on consecutive days. The beach is clean and beautiful. The view of Lake Michigan and the lighthouses is awesome. As a bonus there is an ice cream shop and very fun restaurant located on the beach with lots of seating, outdoor activities and fantastic food (The Deck). A wonderful family beach!

Beautiful beach we have been to many beaches from Florida to California to Mexico & Dominican Republic. We have the best beach by far. Although we could utilize the area and bring more to the surroundings . It would be nice to see more here but as far as the sand and beach . Hands down its the best. So beautiful here.

I enjoyed how clean this beach is kept and it seems like the perfect place to hang out all the time. There are poles that could be used for nets to play volleyball or other games, and I saw one set being used for a hammock. I loved walking along the pier, watching the water splash against the rocks. Watch out! Waves wash over the edge and it did get my shoes wet, which I hadnt planned for, but it was worth it.

Great beach. Much better and safer than Holland or Grand Haven. The public is usually very friendly and it feels like a nice MI community at this beach. Much cleaner, too. Parking must be paid, now. There were officers around to help with questions. Water quality is safe throughout the summer.

This is a beautiful place! We have always went to Grand Haven (which is very nice as well) but we decided to go to Pere Marquette and we are glad we did. The parking is great and the food nearby is awesome as well. Make the trip and check it out, you won’t be disappointed!

Pier Marquette Lake MI beach in Muskegon is where I have been going since I was a little girl. As a teenager I use to cruise around the oval as we called it for many years. Some of the best years of my life! Its beautiful, but I dont like that I have to pay just to park there now. I was born and raised in Muskegon & its definitely seen better days. Pier Marquette is the best place to be anytime of the year...

We were visiting family and decided to visit one of the lakes. The water was clear, ice cold, but it was a great place to stop when the park first opened for the day. Being able to walk up to a lighthouse and just gaze out over the lake left my son amazed. If youre not familiar with the area, definitely give it a chance if theyre not too packed. (Best time is when they first open to keep social distancing)

Nice clean beach with good facilities. People had plenty of room to distance at the beach. Even out in the water patrons kept to their own spaces and there werent so many people it became unsafe or uncomfortable. There is a nice long path right to the water if you want to avoid the sand (but its a beach so...) Definitely a nice road trip stop or even a nice place just for a day in the water. There is a cost to park, but it was $5 for the full day on July 3rd and thats acceptable holiday parking pricing in my opinion.

Gave it a 4 stars just because they will be putting parking meters up and I think its the only free place that tourist or even families that cant afford to go any place so they come here to relax and be with their family and not everyone can afford extra for the meter to park so I would hate to see people stop coming . Why charge its been this way for years and it worked and now you wanna change it.Crazy..My opinion but it is a very nice beach

We went for the storm we thought we were going to get, but no such luck, we did have a good sunset which is always good. We had our parking pass so no worries there, as we got there at around 8:30pm, and the free parking isnt until 9pm for those who dont have the pass. Its $5.00/ day or $20.00 a season/year?. Well worth it.

The white sands were beautiful, the water was cold, but enjoyable. The patrons all allowed one another social distancing which was a plus, great to see everyone else being safe and still enjoyed nature. The only downside was the snack bar customer service was poor, while we asked for and purchased 2 cold waters, we seen they rented umbrellas and chairs, so we asked for 2 each and the girl told us she was not selling them today because she might close early and didn’t want to go out and search for them later, ok so why have a sign if your not willing to rent the items, now we stayed only a few hours, while leaving we walk by the snack bar and the girl is still there. Really!!I want to find the owner and let them know how bad she was. Still gave the beach 5 stars

Want to catch some rays, water, lighthouse without the bustle of Grand Haven, definitely come here. It had everything we wanted without being shoulder to shoulder with the public. It was really fun to watch all the wind surfers! Just a note, there is regular bathrooms on one end of the beach, but the other end only has portopottys. Probably quarter mile walk, just keep that in mind. You can visit a lighthouse my walking a pathway, but be careful on high tide or bad weather days, you could get swept off.

The beach was beautiful! busy.. lots of kite surfers which is always cool to see.. so my 1 star is not because I didnt enjoy myself but the fact that I noticed a little too late that you needed to pay to park & got a $30 citation. & a $3.50 processing fee....Couldve had a few more signs.. maybe I didnt notice.. but when I was there last year there wasnt any pay to park.. its obviously new & a very steep fine in my opinion! I shouldve drove the extra hour to go to my favorite beach in Ludington.. now I know!

Pere Marquette has all of the qualities needed for an ideal summer trip to a lake Michigan beach. Picturesque lighthouse, check. Extensive Sandy beaches, check. Recently updated kids playground, check. Public bathrooms, check. Picnic tables for easy picnic lunches, check. Beach volleyball courts, check. Extensive parking, check. Free to use, check.I grew up in the area and know of other beaches that can hit most of these points, but pere Marquette is where I bring my kids when I come back to town because it hits all of these points consistently.Note: summer 2019 has unusually high lake levels which means that many of the alternative lake options dont have much in the way of Sandy beaches because the water is right at the base of the dunes. Pere Marquette still has a ton of beach area to use at the main site, so it is largely unaffected by this phenomenon.
