Great place! Important since my childhood. Great family visit.
Hiked a bit down to Lake Michigan and back about 1.25 miles. Be ready for some sandy spots along the way.
I love going here it is nice at night and if you have weight you want too louse go down the trail but eveyone should check out the trail
Temporarily closed as of November 15.
Awesome, fun place. Blockhouse is quite an interesting structure. Great beach. Scenic walk along the north side of the river.
I have been visiting since the early 60s. Born in Muskegon. Wasnt there a historical placque at the site explaining the structure? It would be nice if there was one.
My second time taking the trip up the hill to see this wonderful block house. Very unique
When I was a kid, we used to be able to enter it and climb to the top. Its still a pleasant stop along a beautiful road.
It was fun but cold. Drove a limo there with 5 boys for a birthday. It was locked up. But they had a good time.
This uniquely built Block House makes for the perfect sight seeing experience! I am very grateful that my western Michigan friend brought me here! Would definitely recommend for kids and Families.
My family is local I am not. I have been coming here for visits from time to time. Very cool place when fall colors are in full transition. I too wish there was more background history info. Some idiots started a fire in it at some point. Big sheet of plywood covering the damage.History of the site is on a plaque at the parking lot
My parents took me here when I was growing up and I loved it. A few years ago I brought my own child there, although she was too young to really remember it. Went back this summer with my children and was really disappointed, the view was only of trees on all sides. Also, they took down the signs that stated which direction you were facing. It was a lackluster visit. The only good part of the visit was seeing all the graffiti removed from the walls, it looked much cleaner and less run down.
Beautiful views!
Its a piece of history
Ok view. Awesome trail to Lake Michigan.
Nice small piece of history.
Recreation of a block house. View was nice, size of the logs used interesting. I wish there was more history told at the site, however.
I went on a very hot day. The inside of the house was cool and breezy. The place was clean and well maintained.
A historical monument in North Muskegon. Its in the State Park in a forest setting at top of a hill. Great views inside looking out!!
Apparently closed, but no sign except for the historical marker.
Ive been coming here since I was a little kid, great memories. Unique structure in the area - great views!
A great historical replica fort that I have been going to as long as I have been alive. It as take some abuse from people who do not appreciate the uniqueness of it and the great outdoors that this area has to offer. A great place to bring anybody who wants to see a great view of the surrounding area.
Dont miss this one. My grandson had fun there.
Beautiful stop on my #DiscoveryMichigan tours in Muskegon State Park. Its the highest point in Muskegon County. This is a recreation of the 1930s original, which burned to the ground in 1962. The original was build part of President Roosevelts New Deal in the CCC - Civilian Conservation Corps.
Visited there as a kid.cool stop.
