Clean area, felt very safe. There is limited parking at the Beach side park (50 cars) (Not suitable for larger RVs and large trucks). If you are using the beach area, it is sandy and water shoes work the best or old tennis shoes. The boardwalk is handicap accessible and stairs to the beach. Great for getting your stroller and little one to the beach,,, but stroller not usable on sandy beach.

Nice park to visit and walk around. Unfortunately Lake Michigan is really high right now and the beach is flooded. I loved the black sand that was there! Looked so pretty swirling around. Kids had a blast trying to climb the edge and splashing around.

The boardwalk is out because of the high Lake Michigan water. You can still get down to the beach, but the path is slightly steep. Always a beautiful spot nonetheless.

I live nearby this park and its very nice to walk on the boardwalks and view the sites, unfortunately not very friendly for disabled people to go up in the dunes but for many others it is a nice place to go and walk the dunes and take a swim.

This one of my favorites places within 50 miles of my house. I shouldnt be saying this but its a hidden gem for dog lovers who also love a beach. The boardwalk down to the beach is partially washed out, but can still get there. The beach is narrow because of high water but the beach is 100% dog useable. Until closing. I dont know the closing time but I would guess 11 pm.

I looooove taking my dog here! They have a nice family beach and they have a spacious section for dogs to play on. My beagle loves running up and down the dunes and into the water. Its usually never busy or loud. Only bad thing Ive ever experienced was other peoples dogs who were a bit aggressive running around, but Ive only experienced that once in my 5+ years going there.

When we visited Kruse Park in June 2020, the sign clearly stated that the boardwalk to the beach was closed due to major erosion. This did not stop dozens of people from taking their dogs down to the beach anyway. I watched one man rip down part of a fence blocking the boardwalk, and it was clear others had vandalized areas meant to block access. The dog beach is about 18 inches wide and a muddy mess. The heavy foot traffic is clearly exacerbating the problem. Hope the city gets it under control.

I dont mind the pay to park (credit card or coins only- no bills accepted)...but all of the access to the beaches are closed off due to erosion. Boards are broken off so people can get through to the beach. Steep sand hills to climb down and many dogs allowed on beach making it not my favorite place:(

This place pretty much has everything-- a beach you are allowed to take your dog on and trails across the dunes on the left, and a boardwalk overlooking the water at multiple scenic sitting areas leading to BBQs you can use to grill with additional parking and more trails and dunes on the right, both bringing you to beautiful Lake Michigan and its squeaking, sandy shores.

Signs were posted saying Dog leash required beyond this point and leash laws strictly enforced but about 50% of people do not obey this rule. People allowed their dogs to come up to our dog, one guy let his dog walk all over our blanket as we were laying it out, getting sand all over it. Smelled pot a few times. The water had green algeae in it everywhere and was kind of gross. Not at all what we were hoping for based on the reviews.

Kruse Park is a great place to take your family. The beach is a short stroll away. They offer a boardwalk to take you up into the dunes and enjoy some of the greatest views west Michigan has to offer. They also have pavilions with grills that are convenient for picnics, parties etc. As well, as a nice playground to entertain the kids. This park also has drink vending as well as on site restrooms..

Stunning Lake View from the DuneThis park offers beach access, a dune right at the beach, a spacious picnic area behind the dune, and best of all, a boardwalk and stair system with stunning views of the lake and beach.Nearby P.J. Hoffmaster State Park offers plenty of beach, hiking trails, and a lovely visitor center. But there are no elevated views of the lake there to rival the one at Kruse park. When we visited Kruse Park, the boardwalk to the beach was closed due to high water and erosion damage. But the picnic area was not affected, and the views from atop the dune boardwalk were not to be missed. Absolutely gorgeous!

I noticed when I go out about 50 to 100 yards in the water away from the beach I can see clearly to the lake bottom. I feel like I’m floating in air when I do that. Give it a try you may love it :)

Absolutely beautiful beach to bring your dogs. Lots of area to hang out not only in the sand and but walk as well. There is one bad thing about this place- the parking lot is sketchy. Without going into details several cars came and parked, no one got out. My overactive imagination was confirmed when a police car drove through and parked at the end where he could view the entire lot. When we left a second police car showed up and drove through slowly making several laps.
